While the world is ravaged by a global pandemic, hotshot NFL running back Evan Sparks is locked in his own personal hell. With a career-ending scandal on his back, Evan hides out in his best friend’s empty San Francisco home, the full city shutdown locking him in a lonely twenty-story apartment in the sky.
Romance writer Sadie Walsh is having the worst case of writer’s block ever…until the incredible, muscular stranger staying next door gets her muse going strong. The pair of loners, never expecting to find a friend in all the madness, meet each day out on their balconies like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet.
Each new day brings unique challenges for the pair as they navigate the unknown and find solace together. They quickly figure out that as long as they have one another, they can handle anything.
In that moment, I realize I’m falling for this woman, and I’ve never laid my hands on her.
Love Under Quarantine is a stand-alone romance co-written by Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan. I love Kylie’s writing, but this is the first book I’ve read by Carlan.
Love Under Quarantine starts with Evan staying at his friend Jake’s apartment for a while due to some bad press. What Evan doesn’t expect is to get stuck in this apartment during a quarantine. Lucky for him, Jake has a beautiful neighbor named Sadie. Sadie and Evan are flirty and fun together and hit it off from the start.
Sadie and Evan had loads of chemistry. I loved watching the build up between them and how they got to know each other through calls, texts, video chats, and hanging out on their respective balconies. I couldn’t wait till they could finally be together. It was well worth the wait!
Evan is definitely an alpha type hero. He’s a professional athlete and there was a side story based solely on what he was going through with his career at the moment. It also touched on Sadie’s career as a romance author. I didn’t love the conflict between them towards the end regarding Sadie’s book, but I was happy it was resolved quickly.
Personally, I want to read to get out of my head. Sometimes when books hit a little too close to home it’s not a bad thing, if I can connect with them in some way. Even though I enjoyed a lot of this story, I’ve been reading more to get my mind OFF the pandemic going on, and this just brought it right back to the forefront of my mind. I think a lot of readers will love it, but for me, I had trouble connecting to the story for this very reason.
If you’re looking for a romance that is set during the quarantine, pick this one up! It was a great mix of a bit of insta-love, but with a lot of delayed gratification and I truly did enjoy that part of it!
Hmm this wasn't what I hoped for. Love Under Quarantine was supposed to be the 'sunshine after the rain' scenario but it really fell flat for me. Two strangers brought together during the Covid 19 lockdown and a happily ever after. And don't get me wrong we got there in the end, but what a monotonous journey...
While hiding out in San Francisco in his best friends apartment, disgraced NFL player Evan Sparks is on the lowdown. In the midst of a drug scandal, trying to clear his name in isolation is as depressing as it sounds.
Sadie Walsh is a romance writer who is no stranger to being locked away especially when inspiration hits. While she's been in the middle of writers block, her new neighbour has just gotten her creative juices flowing. It's the man candy of course.
Both confined to their apartments, they strike up a friendship via their balconies. Cue the ahh music, not...
I have no real explanation as to why this story didn't work for me. Maybe it's the risk of two authors writing together, because usually I am a huge fan of Kylie Scott. However, the characters and storyline were dull, the romance was instant and unbelievable, and honestly I just wanted to skim read the entire book.
Evan is a football star who finds himself - through almost no fault of his own - in the middle of a sex and drug scandal. That's why he's hiding in his buddy's apartment in San Francisco. Perfect day for the governor to start the Quarantine order. Great. Now he has to cat sit this devil feline and watch his new neighbor doing sexy yoga on her balcony with no way to escape.
Sadie - the yogi - is having a bit of a writer's block. Which is not good for a romance author on deadline. But suddenly there's this über hot half naked guy next door. And her creative juices are flowing like crazy!
And he's also really nice and fun. They have great Corona conversations across their balconies!
But can you fall for someone like that? Across a balcony?
Yes you can! And it's super adorable and funny to watch them doing just that.
Sadie with her snack addiction and Evan trying to cook healthy meals for her! Hilarious!
And then there's the whole fear of the virus - both are worried about parents and friends.
Then we have to find out who set Evan up.
I really enjoyed reading this. It was cute and fun and sexy and so very Corona-y. Perfect little fairy tale-y romance to read during these weird times!
It won't bother anyone but me ... but I caught a lot of British/Australian words and phrases here and there. It just bothers me a bit to see that when a book is full of Americans in America :/
At first, this sounded like a good story, but it wasn't what I expected. After going through the middle of the book I felt like the story was starting to get boring and endless.
The love story was not credible to me because everything went sooo fast. I mean, overnight they already loved each other and even mentioned something about marriage (it had only been 2 weeks, wth?) That instalove ruined things for me😩
I don't have much to say about the rest, I really didn't like it as expected. I couldn't connect with any of the characters, so my problem probably came from there. I also felt like they were just horny all the time😬
The idea of making a story about quarantine due to Covid-19 was not bad, some scenes were funny and I liked them, but nothing more. This was just okay.

The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙💚💜❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙 World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍 Character development: 🙂😀🤩😍 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The Hero:Evan Sparks - There is a stay at home order in place in San Francisco after Coronavirus came out. Evan is an NFL football star who is going through a drugs and doping scandal and is stuck in his best friend Jake’s Apartment while taking care of his cat since his friend is away in Africa working as a doctor.
The heroine:Sadie Walsh - She is a romance writer who likes to get inspiration from things around her. When she sees the tall, muscular, handsome man in the apartment next to her she knows she can get some inspiration from him for her new book. When he sits his patio in nothing but shorts, she likes the look of his muscles.
The Story: Half of Evan’s team believes the lies that went out, though he had actually stopped partying after he turned 29 and he was focusing more on working out and improving his game, which was working. Some girl set him up, drugged him and took pictures of him with booze and drug paraphernalia and a search of his locker found steroids. Someone set him up good.
Sadie has found that men in her dreams and in her books are terrific, but men in real life usually suck, and not in a good way. They are usually selfish and thoughtless. So she is determined to stick to her book boyfriends, but Evan is sure great to look at and works well as the muse for her book. Her last boyfriend was compatible with her in bed, but out of it was surprisingly dull and had no interest in anything she had to say.
The story was good, though there were some things that bothered me. For example they go grocery shopping for a week’s worth of groceries each, they walk to the grocery store and from the depictions of all the items they each got, there would be no way they could walk home with that many groceries. Also Sadie finds out early that Evan is a pro football player and she doesn’t Google him right away. What woman wouldn’t immediately look up a potentially famous man they are interested in?
Also, this book was published in May of 2020, not long after the covid lockdown began so there are things that happened in the book that people didn’t know about at that time. Like the fact that Evan is talking about buying a bar for his brother and father to work in. I, personally haven’t been to a bar since before covid and I can’t imagine Bars and nightclubs have done very well since 2020, so it isn’t that great of an opportunity.
This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Andi Arndt and Will Damron. Both of these narrators are very good. Will has a deep and clear voice and Andi has a strong yet feminine voice which I really like.

Well, after the boring-as-hell quarantine romance I read last week (Day One), I am not sure if I want to go through another "stay-away-from-each-other" romance. It really sucks.
I love Kylie Scott's writing but I don't know anything about the other writer. For now, I will just be waiting for more reviews...
Blah... See it’s not a bad book at all. Given the circumstances we are in right now, the book is perfect. Love in quarantine.
H is a sports star, who is going through a drug controversy. He is stuck in his friend’s apartment. And the city has gone lockdown due to coronavirus. The h lives next door. She is a writer going through a block.
The writing is simple. (BTW I love this author. I’m a big fan of Flesh series. So compared to these this book is dull. Super dull.)
I didn’t feel any angst. It was just there. Read it if you want because it’s not bad. But even though if you decide to skip it, there’s no harm.
When I caught a first glance of this book during the beginning of pandemic, I was very intrigue. Especially, this book is published shortly after the self isolation happened in USA. I am familiar with Miss Scott works before. I was hoping a fun sexy banter.
I think maybe because this book was conceived in such short notice, the chemistry between the characters are off. The relationship is wrapped ship into insta lust/ love right away. I was so confused at first. But I charged forward believing in Miss Scott experience bringing this story forward. And as suspected, every plot/ drama is solved very quickly.
The banter that I was expecting to be fun and sexy, feel luke warm and confusing. I feel like I am jumping from point A to point B without any preamble/ vulnerability/ chemistry connection.
Overall I still enjoy this book OK considering how fast this book published.
Honestly... the only reason I wanted to read this book was because of the title. How perfect for all of our lives right now. I expected it to be silly, but I was pleasantly surprised!!
Evan and Sadie are great characters. He's this super athletic NFL Football player who finds his life in complete disarray from a drug related scandal. Because of the quarantine, he's hiding out at his friend's apartment until it's over since he is out of the country. It's a little extreme... I'm assuming he could of just driven home, but that's what made this book such a delight. Sadie is the neighbor, and she's a romance author (I thought that was a nice touch). They meet out on their balconies one day and just hit it off. They are complete opposites, but that is probably what makes them so great. He's a health nut and she lives for candy. He lives in the lime light, and she's a introverted homebody. Sadie insists they wait for the 2 week period to make sure that they both are healthy and have no signs of the virus before physically being near one another.
It was way insta-lovy, but it totally worked for me in this book. I thought it was interesting to see some of the things we are living through right now. Just them going to the grocery store and talking about the plexiglass between the cashiers was so real. The two made a great team and I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
„What we have is more real than anything I’ve ever had in my life.”
In times when tomorrow is uncertain and isolation is taking its toll, Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan are bringing a story filled with love and hope to the brim. Love Under Quarantine is a book that cheers up and brings joy. It's like a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day. Evan and Sadie’s story is full of sexual tension, pent-up lust and all the feels and it’s everything I needed these days!
I loved how the world situation brought characters together and how despite insta-lust they were forced to personally know each other first. I was thrilled to see that despite the circumstances they found something to look up to. Their interactions and witty banter left me with a constant smile on my face and their sizzling chemistry and palpable sexual tension heated me up. I adore Evan and his down-to-earth personality. For a hot shot NFL star he’s pretty laid-back. Sure, he benefited from his fame in the past, but he also knows when he comes across something good and real. Sadie is an exceptional woman. Lovely and caring, but also quirky and sassy. A sexy hunk of a man next door was exactly what she needed to find a muse for her new romance novel. On the paper they might be polar opposites, but in reality they complement each other beautifully. And they found each other in the hopeless situation, that’s just fantastic!
A sweet love story that was born in the middle of scandal and world disorder. Carlan and Scott created a cute and entertaining tale that brings pure joy. This steamy and funny read is a real page-turner!
I just think this is in relatively poor taste. Sorry. I get it’s a “new” trope. But maybe it shouldn’t have occurred to anyone to write a romance about a current actual virus killing people.
My S-i-L is a CVICU travel nurse. We live in NOLA and she decided to take a contract here due to COVID and help our overwhelmed hospitals. Her experiences are fucking terrifying.
You may think this is some stupid inconvenience...and if you do, my guess is you’re not having a frontline view of what this shit is capable of.
With whats going on in the world i was 50/50 on reading this. Because well times are dark and well idk how darkish or angst this read shall be but it was pretty good i enjoyed it so much!!
Evan poor guy is being set up he's having a tough time with his football career and a huge scandal that has him hiding out in his best friends apartment during this lockdown, upset, angry and frustrated he gets a glimps of his next door balcony neighbor but he has more important things to worry about. Until he meets Sadie a sassy romance writer the next day theirs a playful spark between them and Evan enjoys the banter and sassyness she toss back. The more they spend together the more their bond grows, from tv dates to video sex they followed the rules and having some dirty distance fun..forming a good relationship any problems they had they talked about and believe me they had few problems in their relationship and outside of it Sadie and Evan also had to deal with friends and family problems during this lockdown.. and Evan scandal.
I kinda felt bad for Evan.. not one person in his brotherhood team believed him at all.. thats some ducked up teammates i did wish we had a epilouge it was an okay ending but I wanted little more.
angst, tiny om drama smidge ow drama (girl who drugged him and h ex) no cheating, drama, slight secondary charas, sexy times, no virgins (both mentioned past relationships also H was mentioned as aorta playboy but didnt show)
Recommend-yes Cover-⭐⭐⭐⭐
Slow-burnish 29H/28h Phone sex/video sex Safe sex/no condom Safe-ish Mentions of drugs Mentions of the virus Death HFN
With the real-life events going on, parts of this book hit a little close to home (literally, in my case, since I live in the Bay Area and am familiar with San Francisco). Deserted streets and seeing a whole lot of the same four walls of your house... yeah. Close to home.
But it worked for me. Because Evan and Sadie found a way to make it work despite all the roadblocks (or balcony walls) thrown in their way. The fact they each had their own things outside of the pandemic to deal with (Sadie's writer's block and Evan's scandal) made it more compelling. And their workarounds for not being able to physically touch one another were SMOKIN' HOT. Virtual sexy time! NICE!
You know, unraveling the whys and hows of Evan's predicament (as crappy as it was for him to be caught up in) also gave them something to focus on other than the craziness happening outside. It might not have been ideal for Evan, but it definitely kept them distracted.
Bottom line: I liked this book. A lot. Evan and Sadie might have very different personalities, but they play off each other nicely and they were there for one another when they both needed it most. I like!
Evan is in hiding in his best friend's condo from a scandal that he believes he was framed. Sadie is a romance author dealing with writer's block. They kept each other company by helping each other get through the pandemic. They got to know each other & instantly fell into lust. The playboy NFL player & the girl next door. He's a health freak & she loves junk food. They were total opposites but like they say opposites attract. They were made for each other. Grab this book to help you get through this tough time & fall in love with Evan & Sadie.
There are lots of problems just generically with this book. The conceit is very clear -- two neighbors have to self-isolate for 14 days before they can touch, and they fall in love. Cute, right? I was in. Their chemistry is cute in the heroine POV and very bland in the hero POV, which brings me to...
I haven't read anything about the writing process here, but this is definitely one of those collaborative projects that should *not* have been a collaboration. Kylie clearly wrote the heroine, who is the only character worth paying attention to here. The hero is a rich NFL player who whines about being "stuck" in quarantine and refers to women's "bubble butts." Ick. He's just not great. His best asset appears to be...his body? I mean, ok, I guess. But yeah, Kylie, this other woman really brought you down. She does not write at your level AT ALL.
I mean, there are SO MANY plots. There's the quarantine love story (which falls apart on day 13 when the two of them decide to ... take a walk? It's so weird! They stay 6 feet apart, but still, like, what's even the point if they can access the outside world?), a doping scandal, a bad ex boyfriend, money hungry parents, a conflict with the heroine's romance novel (which she wrote in 14 days or whatever (feels like art imitating life here) being a too-personal fan fic of the actual romance), the hero's best friend fighting diseases in Africa, and probably about 12 other weird mini plots...oh! And an old lady dying of COVID! Right out of the blue! A chapter from the end of the book! What even?!?
It's like these two just threw everything they could think of into a book that kind of already had plenty? Or would have had plenty if it were written by someone else? I guess this is partially my fault -- I wanted a quarantine romance from someone who could really nail the isolation and desperation and intensity of quarantine (I live in NYC -- it's all those things). I wanted Charlotte Stein or Sierra Simone writing this one. These two just don't have the skill, I guess. Or, at least, the not-Kylie one doesn't. Sorry I can't remember her name and I don't care.
FWIW, I can only assume the plot point with the old lady dying of COVID was the not-Kylie author's plot point, because I would have expected Kylie to pay a little more attention to the fact that killing a character with a disease that is actually currently killing people at an alarming rate probably shouldn't have happened at 90% of the way through the book? I mean, granted, I live in NYC, so I actually know people who have lost loved ones to COVID, but even if I didn't, it feels like death from a disease currently killing people and shutting down the world maybe shouldn't be tossed in at the end like a Hail Mary pass? I don't know.
Anyway. I'm here for quarantine books. But I guess...I just want them to be better. Send Charlotte Stein a message if you know her. I'll be first in line.

This is definitely a romance that's very relevant to today's current events. I hadn't expected it to mirror real-life events so closely! (What with the toilet paper shortages, social distancing requirements, and even the name of the virus itself). This is another book where insta-love takes the center-stage. I was a little disappointed by this. One of the reasons why shows like "Love is Blind" was so popular was because the people have to get to know each other first before actually meeting. In this book, it's love at first sight across from the balconies that are 8 feet apart. I guess I thought that we would get more of their "getting to know each other" before they fell for one another. They have to wait 14 days before they can meet in person (because of the quarantine period), but they're basically smitten by day 5. The dialogue and inner thoughts of the two characters are also absolutely hilarious! That said, the book was a tad too cheesy for me. All criticisms aside, this is a fun and light book that's a perfect almost-escape during this pandemic.
I cannot express who much I loved this story and these characters. Everything about was great and told a story about the crazy time that is going in the world right now. Their feelings are what we are all going through. Sadie is an author who is used to working from home and staying indoors, but she is dealing with writers block. Evan is a pro athlete that has a major scandal happening and is laying low until it passes. As neighbors, they begin a friendship that becomes so much more as they are forced to stay in during the coronavirus crisis. I really enjoyed reading how they dealt with the crisis and how their relationship progressed. I devoured this book so quickly that I was left with a definite book hangover. You will not be disappointed with this story.
This book was so darn sweet!! These two writers came together and wrote a very relevent love story that will speak to the modern audience. Evan and Sadie are two souls who met under the dangerous circumstances of our world. He is famous in the sports world, she is a romance writer. Their story starts slowly but soon, despite the trying times, it blossoms and it was a beautiful thing to read. The book was emotional, it gave me laughs and it had me swooning. It was the perfect read. I highly recommend it to any romance lover.
4 STARS!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. *
kitaba başlama nedenim elbetteki yazarının Kylie oluşuydu, ancak genelde aldığım tadı alamadım. • okumadan önce: görülüyor ki birileri gündemin ekmeğini yiyor 😅 ama okunur, blurb’un gideri var tabii first cr’deki kitaplar, onları eritip buna başlayacağım.
3.5 stars. Love Under Quarantine was co-written by Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan. I am a fan of Ms. Scott's books, but this is the first time I have read anything by Ms. Carlan. This is Sadie and Evan's story. Evan is an NFL player who is wrongly under investigation for doping. He is hiding out from the press and housesitting at his friend's apartment when the Covid-19 quarantine goes into affect. Sadie is the cute girl in the apartment next door and a romance writer. During quarantine, the two meet, gradually get to know each other, and fall in love- all over the balcony, six-feet-apart trips to the grocery store and, eventually the phone and video chat. When they finally get together in person, they find they never want to be apart again.
This book sounded like a light and funny love story to read during this difficult time while the world is still under quarantine. I just think maybe the book had an identity crisis and wasn't sure whether it was a rom-com or a drama. I don't know if it was too soon to enjoy the circumstances or what. I had a hard time connecting to the book. It took me a little while to feel any chemistry between the couple or depth to the story. The climaxes were quick blips in the story and were overdramatic, but over too fast. I also felt the explanation of the Covid-19 circumstances to be a bit preachy and overexplanatory, since we're still in the midst of this pandemic. Still, the story was relatively interesting and there were some funny and cute moments (along with some tragic ones). I liked Sadie and Evan together, too.
Overall, I enjoyed this book in general. I just had a hard time connecting enough to the story to completely love it.
