Roark and Natalie.
This fell pretty flat for me and I found myself skimming a lot. The MCs didn't interest me and the action was perfunctory and uninspired. Actually the whole thing was uninspired.
Natalie was a wimp for most of her life being treated like a toy by her wealthy parents and less than that by the boyfriend they chose for her. Somehow when she meets Roark through the interstellar bride service, she gains a backbone yet doesn't mind calling him 'Master'. Not my kink so maybe it's just me and this author isn't 'my cup of tea'. The villains were ridiculous, the intrigue was thin, and the mystery was obvious. Aliens that are so NOT alien that you wonder why the author chose this genre.
SO anyways, they have one night of passion (that I skimmed through... ho-hum) and bad guys attack separating them. They each believe the other to be dead. OF course, she is pregnant and forced to have the baby in seclusion. There is no real push and pull between the MCs (despite what the blurb suggests), so every time the author runs out of boring sex, (because actual intimacy is too difficult to write?), in jump the bad guys again.
And what the heck was the point of the time travel/difference stuff???
Like I said, no my cuppa.

Her Mate’s Secret Baby takes us back with a Trion, I don’t think we’ve seen one since Councilor Tark WAY back to book 1, Assigned a Mate. Here we have Councilor Roark and Natalie. I wasn’t crazy about this one. I didn’t love Natalie, she’s a rich girl victim because she allows her family to boss her around… because they have the money… well make your own happiness girl. I’ve always like that G.G.’s h’s are strong and tough, and Natalie was the opposite. Roark wasn’t anything special either. I didn’t really feel the chemistry. Also
From a smut standpoint the Trions have a “master” thing going on, so there’s definitely a more pronounced dom/sub sexytime relationship.

Bottom Line- This one missed the mark for me… It wasn’t bad, just blah. I didn’t feel like much was going on, Natalie enters the bride program by choice so there’s no obstacle, they spend time separated, no major conflicts, and the “mystery” was settled quite quickly. There were loose ends, like an explanation for the time change (days to months) when that doesn’t occur with other planets, or why Warden Egara was ok with her alien baby living on Earth when that was unacceptable in Cyborg's Secret Baby which is quite similar, and IMO a better book. And, it had that backtracking/repeating what happened with the change of POV, which drives me crazy.

** Random connections- It’s hinted maybe a match of Roark’s BFF Seton and Natalie’s BFF Miranda, but Miranda is actually mated with the Dr Brax and another in ** matched and mated.

So this was a cute fun read. It was a bit naughtier than I expected, Roark comes from a planet where the men are more than dominant in the bedroom 😱😜 But I love a hidden baby, damsel in distress story and this hit the mark. It’s funny because the hero and heroine meet and essentially have two days togetherness before an enemy attacks and the two become separated. As she goes back to Earth they both learn the hard way, Time works very differently across the universe and what for him is only ten days, for her is over year, more than enough time to grow a baby the hero has no clue about. I enjoyed the story overall, it wasn’t heavy and while I’ve read a few of these interstellar bride books by the author, they can all (as far as I can tell) be read as a stand-alone as this one did.

Story is told in alternating 1st person POV.
The “Secret / Hidden baby” trope is one of my personal favourites and that’s why I was drawn into reading this book in the first place.
Full marks for the original conceptualisation - “The Interstellar Brides Program”
The theme of a fail-safe matchmaking mechanism was very novel and intriguing and it really caught my fancy.
But...
The execution and the storytelling could have been so much better.

This is another book apart of Grace Goodwin's Interstellar Brides Program, but one with a new and exciting plot!

This is the romance between Natalie and Roark. They have been matched and mated through the Interstellar Brides Program and have a wonderful first meeting. The two of them are on a honeymoon of sorts when they get attacked by some enemies of Roarks. During the ambush, Natalie is sent back to Earth for her protection. But Roark has no idea and believes she is dead. Natalie thinks that she is forced to live a now solitary life until she realizes that she is pregnant. Then one day Roark figures out that his mate is alive after all & will do everything in his power to bring her back to him.

This was great!! It's one of my favorites in the series for sure! I love how we got a unique plot when compared to the other book in this series.

TW: death, gore, torture, guns

TROPES: alien romance, pregnancy

These books are like pallete cleanses after I listen to a long fantasy or science fiction book. I do enjoy it I will listen to them only for free on Audible. My only issue with this book is that the main girl is upset with the main guy for wanting to save his family, that was weird I understand where she's coming from but it was a little weird.

Natalie and Roark’s book is the first and only surprise baby book I’ve not just liked but loved. However, I would argue it’s not a secret baby book, more of a near death escape and forced distanced. Like planets away distance. Still super cute and full of feels. Roark was everything.

3.0 RATING ~ I somehow got hooked on this series a while back but typically only buy the books when they’re on sale. I haven’t read one in a while and although I was happy to have some pure alien smut to read, this definitely wasn’t my favorite from the series.

This kind of books always ends to be a ripoff. 5 dollars for porn. Aka a very flimsy excuse to never ending sex scenes. Boring doesn't cover it. As I keep saying eroticism is different in my mind.

Never having known love or felt like she belonged, Natalie Montgomery signs up for the Interstellar Bride Program hoping. Hoping that she'll find her HEA with a Prince Charming who will shower her with the love she's never had.

Lady luck seems to smile on Natalie when she is matched with Roark of the planet Trion. He's everything she's ever dreamed of and seems to feel the same about her.

Just when it looks like nothing but sunshine and rainbows are in this couple's future, the worst case scenario happens as the two are torn apart into different time and place worlds.

The Interstellar Bride Program has been able to facilitate most complications but is this the one that can't be fixed?

* *

I've read most Interstellar Brides series installments and found them overall enjoyable. Using the age old mail order bride formula in a SciFi slant, this author has premised females/males with baggage issues into a mix of circumstances that end up with an almost perfect match mate. :D

I can't say that I really enjoyed this installment for varied reasons. The biggest though, and I admit this is my own perception and opinion, is having to do with the whole time travel aspects. Totally lost me as it really didn't work in a believable manner. So, while the couple may have had that insta-love connection and had a baby (not giving away any spoiler as the title of this book is: Her Mate's Secret Baby) the world building/story line was weak and too bizarre to be taken seriously.

ps.. Anyone else starting to hope Warden Egara (Catherine) gets her own story in the near future?

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT Egara and "her men"?? What?

Summary: I think the books are getting more romantically dramatic or complicated, which is good. Characters more likeable, definitely the hero is more likeable in this one.
What I'd like to have seen:Please make longer, more romantic twists, turns, ups-&-downs. Maybe re-edit and reissue at some later point. I'd like the Hero have to work MORE (more suffering, hard work, emotion) to get the lady back. I'd like to see more on her time back on Earth, the heartache of having a kid & thinking your mate is dead, also more of fun friends she surely has since her parents were were non-existent, and dealing with other admirers, creepy parents. Bad guys get resolved way too easily.

Series Overall: Usually it's sort of like the "taming of Black Beauty", where the Beasts get tamed. Therefore, lots of beastly shenanigans: anal, spanking, lots of domination, and definitely not living by USA or "Earth Rules of Conduct".

Reading Recommendation: Don't binge the series fast. I've been binging 1/day--it's addictive, and due to brain-fatigue, my perceptions seem to be more negative the more tired I am.

Grace Goodwin has ruined me for all other alien romance novels. Correction… she has ruined me for ALL romance novels. After reading her material, I find the others to be tame, dull and overall anticlimactic. I am not ashamed to admit that I have read each of her books at least twice.

The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real and there are several different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. There is a neurological test that a bride takes to me matched to their perfect alien planet, then their perfect alien match on that planet, through a series of sexual desires that only our subconscious can answer for. Earth allows for volunteers to apply to the program, or grants female criminals the option to become a bride over a prison sentence. Those who volunteer are paid a healthy sum of money, and those who are prisoners are given clean slates. All applicants are required to give up their Earth citizenship to become a resident of their new chosen planet. A bride has 30 days to accept or reject their match. If they accept their claim, they are mated to their new alien husband for the rest of their lives where they are expected to make babies. If they reject their mate, they are assigned a new one on that same planet. Where they are still expected to make babies. Warden Egara makes continued appearances throughout the series as she is the one who processes the brides in the United States.

The author was smart in how she developed her story lines with the different species. Whenever she feels like getting kinky with orgies, she just has to write a match made to Viken. Feeling like dominant wall sex? Looks like it’s an Atlan beast book. In the mood for sentimental feelings? Prillion it is. Or some one-on-one bondage and S&M? Yep, it’s a Trion book. Lol

Written in first person, Her Mate’s Secret Baby is book 9 in this series and follows the human bride Natalie Montgomery and her alien mate Councilor Roark from the planet Trion. Natalie was a spoiled girl that grew up missing the love, affection and attention from her parents. All she wanted was to matter to someone. She was engaged to another spoiled man child who was raised with a golden spoon, pressured by her parents to marry, but cheated on her multiple times. She decided to leave it all behind and joined the interstellar bride program. Councilor Roark ran the southern continent of Trion. He was stationed temporarily at outpost 2, awaiting Natalie’s arrival. Before she even gained consciousness, he became protective and possessive of Natalie. He also had controlling parents, his mother in particular, who wanted him to mate with a Trion female and have offspring. But he opted for an interstellar bride instead, so that he could control and make a decision of at least one thing in his life. The two connected instantly, he claimed her within hours of arrival and gave her the key to his vault, which could only be opened by his DNA. Unfortunately, the outpost was attacked, Roark was captured and taken prisoner, Nicole was transported back to Earth, and everyone else slaughtered. There is that weird-ass time continuum between Earth and Trion where one day on Trion is like 12 weeks on Earth. It took Roark 9 days to escape captivity, return to the outpost, transport for help and heal enough to continue his search for Natalie, who was assumed dead. Meanwhile, Natalie woke up in the interstellar bride center and was found by Warden Egara. They made several attempts to contact Trion, to be told that everyone at the outpost was dead. That one time that Roark claimed Natalie was enough to get her pregnant, so she spent 13 months in misery, assuming her mate was dead, giving birth and raising their son alone. Lo and behold, the son grabbed that key to the vault and activated it, alerting Trion of a ping from Earth, and Roark immediately went after his bride and - surprise! - baby. Of course, Natalie’s ex had to do some dumb shit while they were back on Earth, but the three made it back to Trion to finally live happily ever after. Phew! A lot going on in this book.

I had issues with this book. Mainly with Natalie. She grew up this spoiled princess, crying because she didn’t get enough affection from her parents. As soon as she comes home pregnant with an alien’s baby, she had to get a job and support her baby, right? Wrong. Her parents GAVE her a villa, complete with maids and nannies. Then she has the nerve to complain about hardships. Bitch, please. She tried cutting her chain off of her and moving on with her life, but the chain wouldn’t come off and she couldn’t bring herself to accept Roark’s death. Warden Egara explained the time difference to her, but she NEVER put 2 and 2 together. When he showed up, she was like “I am so mad at you.” Waaaaah. Ugh. *eye roll* Anyway… I digress.

Trions are humanoid. What sets them apart from everyone else is their massive size (they’re larger than humans but smaller than Prillions), their huge cocks, spankings and punishments, and their S&M bondage culture complete with a submissive and master. They don’t do multiple partners as they are dominant, territorial and don’t share well with others. I love the whole “mine” theme, but that’s about all I love about Trion. I am not a Trion fan, they’re probably my least favorite of the species, next to Vikens.

There have been way too many romance novels I’ve read that had me frustrated and yelling “Jesus Christ, when are they gonna fuck?! Get to the good shit already!” When we’re 50% in, and the main characters have barely kissed each other, leaves readers like me aggravated. This is NOT one of those books. The very first chapter gives a very clear indication of what we are in for. I’m fairly confident that there is more sexual content in this book than adventure. It is, quite literally, word porn.

The first few books in this series were a little too hardcore for my tastes. Which is saying a lot because I am far from a prude and consider myself a person with a healthy and active sex life. Filled with bondage and S&M, the consent line was a little blurry in some cases. Even though Trion is king of the S&M species, I will admit that this book in particular was much softer, including enough love and consensual acceptance to go around. With the exception of the final sex scene in the last chapter, this book was a little tamer with a much clearer line of consent, making the book even more enjoyable. The final scene was her telling him to “fuck off” and he responded with forced spankings and pleasure, but sure, Ill go with the rape fantasy here. Although there should probably be a trigger warning at the beginning of this book. Spankings take place in every single book. If any man spanked me, I would probably kill them in their sleep, but I guess some women do enjoy them. Spankings are more of a turn-off than turn-on in my case, so I just ignore those parts of the books like “nope, that didn’t just happen.”

As I’ve read through this series and all its spin offs, I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance. I heavily recommend the series, not necessarily this particular one in it though. Meh.

Natalie longs for a family and someone to love her, so she joins The Interstellar Bride Program. She's mated to Roark and believes she finally has the love she's been missing. An attack by The Hive sends her back to earth, expecting her missing mate's baby. I won't be a spoiler, but I will tell you this is a sexy read with a love story that transcends space!

Despite small plot holes and the silliness in Grace Goodwin's writing style this book was far more entertaining than all the others I read before and much more enjoyable as a romantic erotica.

For a male character in one of Grace G.'s books Roark is great. His background is interesting and because he appeared briefly before in the first book fo the series is a welcome come back as well. While he has no personal or professional growth he does have a personal arch to work out, which made me care about him and the outcome of his trials.

Natalie was great as well, as the female lead. While her background wasn't as great it was somewhat worked in a simple but funny/interesting way that worked fine with the plot. Also, while slightly face paced, she does show some growth, mostly in character, she grows a spine and becomes stronger as the story develops, not like a true heroine but good enough for a lead.

The story is fast paced like I said, even if there are time jumps during the book, they are mostly to show drastic changes and use well the time difference between planets, something mentioned in book 1 as well as this book. The chemistry between Natalie and Roark is quick but fiery, their insta-love maybe... insta and without much base but it still works for the book, made their relationship believable and even made ME root for them. I liked the ending, even if it was kind of silly or far fetched, as if aware of itself the plot takes interesting turns making the silly ending have sense within the story. Also, I was pleased with the way the D/s or alpha dom/submissive was used in this book, it felt healthier than in book 1 and less basic than in the rest of the books I've read so far.

I would definitely recommend it as a light read, perhaps read like one would watch a chick flick. For a full price it might not be worth buying, but if you find it a $2 offer or so I'd definitely go for it.

description

So to start off, I want to say that this story had a great beginning. It was steamy, and it was the kind that pulls you in right away. I really liked that. At its core, to me, this was a story about two people, Natalie and Roark who are brought together for their own personal reasons, and end up finding in each other, so much more than they dared to hope for.

There were a few other things about this story I really liked, such as the Roark's parents, and a few other secondary characters like Seton, Wardan Egara, and Miranda. I found it interesting the way time passed on Trion vs. Earth. And the technology and sub-storylines were good.

I did however find myself wishing the story had been longer. I thought a few aspects were rushed and gave a bit of an instalove feel, but had the book been longer, more time could have been spent growing the relationship and it would have been even more enjoyable for me. I also felt that there were things left unresolved. I hope this means there will be more books to come, because I would hate to never get that resolution.

Even though this was the most recent in the series, I didn't feel I was missing anything due to not having read the previous books. This was an enjoyable story overall and I would certainly be interested in reading more about these characters, and from this author in the future.

The author is a fabulous writer and, once again, has written a great story. Natalie is disgusted with her fiancé who is just going through the motions with her. He is boring and unfaithful. She is disappointed with her uncaring parents who have no time for her. All she wanted was for someone to put her first in their life. So she signed up with the Interstellar Bride Program to make a new life elsewhere to find happiness and love.

Natalie is matched up to Roark from Trion. But while they are on planet together, there is an attack by enemies and Natalie ends up back on Earth. She knows in her heart her mate will come for her. But he doesn’t! She gives birth to their son. But what has happened to Roark? Why has he abandoned her?

This is a captivating story about family relations and things gone wrong. Just when Natalie finds happiness, it is taken away from her. Is there any hope of rejoining her mate? Or is it too late to get back what was lost? I definitely recommend this book. The writing is good, the story line is fast-paced and draws the reader in.

Okay, if you've read any of my reviews, you know I love the Interstellar Brides series. I've read them all at this point and can't wait for more.

I loved this one!
One of the things I love about this series is that there is no formula. Grace brings us a new couple (or threesome, foursome) with each book and tells a new story.

Natalie just wants to belong to someone who sees her. So what does she do? Volunteer for the Interstellar Brides Program of course! However she's seperated from her perfect mate on her second day there and she's not sure he even remembers her. Will he be another in a long line of people who only see her for what she can bring them?

Definitely a great story that departs from the usual theme of being in space and unsure you want to be. Don't pass this one up.

So our human female just mated with her alien mate on his home planet but within 24hrs they are attacked. He’s taken and tortured & she was sent back to earth thinking he was dead.

She’s heartbroken as she left earth looking for love only to have it taken away, then she finds out she’s pregnant!

Over a year goes by and she has a beautiful big boy named Noah & one day he takes the medallion that’s on her and puts it in his mouth.. well his DNA alerts his family that they are on earth.

There’s a sweet reunion what was over a year for her was only 10 days for him, someone tried to kill them. They go back to his home planet with his mate, son & nanny.

Then they are attacked again but it was a trap to find the bad guy.

The story was okay, and the spice was okay in this book. Definitely not my favourite but it was fine

I really love the Interstellar Bride books. This one has Natalie, a human, and a poor little rich girl where money does not by happiness. As a matter of face it is lonely, even feeling like a side thought of her parents, just not important. It is time to move on from all of this and her gross ex fiance. Enter thr bride program and her new mate, Roark. Roark new his one true mate was out there. and now she was here. One night of pssion and falling in love was all it took. Except for the interruption of a battle that left Roark taken hostage and Natalie sent back to earth for her saftey. I loved their story and how the writing follows both characternthrough the different time changes and their thoughts one what next? Loved the HEA

My fav

So far my favorite in the whole intersteller brides series. Mating, Alien, sex and action with story. Not just insta love and sex sex sex.
Natalie isn't happy with her life. Her absentee parents and cheating fiance. No more she signs up for the intersteller bride program and finds her mate with a 99.9 accuracy I believe. She ready to go claim her mate.
Roark hasn't found a mate on Trion. None of the female interest him so he gets tested to find His mate. A female that wants him for him. Not his position, wealth and status.
So they are a good fit. Great chemistry. However after an explosive first night they are separated and then drama and danger unfold. Each has a different experience and a baby is uncovered changing everything.

This is my first novel in the series, it was on sale and I've been wanting to try the series for a while so I figured why not? The series concept isn't a hard one to figure out, women can register to be matched either interstellar men and make a new life out in the galaxy.

Honestly I tend to like a little more story with my sexy times. The book jumps straight into a spicey scene, and there isn't a lot of character development that occurs outside of the bedroom. The story wasn't awful, I just felt it was a little thin on the ground over the book. I wanted to know more about the alien planet, it's hierarchy and how it all fit together.

I've got the next few novels in the series as part of my purchase so I'll go on to read at least the next few, but I'm pretty luke-warm so far.

We are now nine books into this out of this world series each book is so different from the last and yet it never fails to draw you in. Miss Goodwin has the magic touch with all things sci-fi she makes her books come alive.

This book was so different than the others see Roark was instantly in love with Natalie and he felt for her from the very first moment he caught sight of his mate, I loved all his emotions and how he never gave up on Natalie, I can't say much there without giving away a huge part of the story but believe me when I say it you will not be disappointed.

Love this series and I do wish the warden would get her HEA

Emotional Rollercoaster

I forbidden know what to say, the emotions ran so high and deep my heart ached with both love and despair. Both feelings were felt deeply, sharply. She finds her mate, her home, her love... And loses him in a battle. Both think the other is dead and both struggle under the weight of the thought. As the book stretched out my fear that this might not end well was an acrid taste in my tongue but the microblogging Goodwin deals in happily ever after and I did get mine, tearfully so. She's such an amazing writer! You definitely will not be disappointed with this book.

This is a total guilty pleasure for me. The premise of this series is pretty silly, but it makes for some fun, trashy reads. Some of the plot points in this particular book were still just a goofy as most of the other books, but I really appreciated how happy the main character was with her choices and her mate from the get go. No running roughshod over her protests here thank goodness! Only explicit, enthusiastic consent. It made it so much more fun to read, and it definitely made me want to keep reading, even when I was giggling over the premise sometimes.

Wow, what a hot story. It's fun and exciting and the sex scenes are off the page sizzling. Great storyline told with wit, humor, and incredibly vivid erotic scenes. The twists in the story really keeps the reader turning pages. One thing Grace Goodwin does an excellent job of is world building. It is just phenomenal. I did not want to put this story down.
