When the survivors of the massacre at the Riverside Mall are murdered one after the other, the police suspect a serial killer and turn to the FBI. Winter Black is on the case, working to track down the third person involved in the mass shooting that happened the same night she took down The Preacher, the man who killed her parents.
The hit list is long while the list of suspects is short, and when the killer ends up dead, the suspect list narrows down to a pinpoint. The path to solving the case grows even more twisted, and protecting the survivors feels nearly impossible as the storm of hate grows bigger, more fierce as it moves closer to Winter, taking down anyone within its path.
Who is this assassin? Are they intent on simply finishing what Tyler Haldane and Kent Strickland started, or is it worse? Do they intend to finish what The Preacher started as well? And where does Justin, Winter’s baby brother, fit in? Is he the storm, or is he simply caught up in its force?

Excellent series with equally excellent writing. ;)
I was very disappointed in this book. It and the one before were both disappointments to me. I enjoyed the first 6books but I'm not sure what happened with the last two. The first 25 chapters were boring and I would not have finished it if I had not paid for it and they keep getting more expensive. Last one I am buying. Spoiler alert, the ending says to be continued.
The Winter Black FBI series by Mary Stone has been a great storyline to follow. She introduces Winter Black and weaves her personal story along as a new case is solved in each book. It is interesting to see her relationship with fellow Special Agent, Noah Dalton, develop as the series continues. Looking forward to the next book.
Hang on to your seat with this book. So really heart reaching turmoil. Poor Winter is going to learn or accept what is her worst nightmare about her brother come to life. You are not going to want to put this book down.
The story about winters brother is reaching the crescendo and while not surprising, this story provided details that showed his personality, training, actions and it is just heartbreaking for Winter. Also for Aiden and Noah who don’t want to hurt her.
The story is fast paced and quite interesting as it shows several POV during the quest to find the murderers. I found the background that Justin/Jaime shared about his memories with his parents and sister intriguing. The victims in this book suffered and the last set was tragic with how much they suffered.
Noah and Winter are adorable and Aiden has me concerned. Autumn is not as present in this book because more focus is on the brother and the quest of those who follow the same misogynistic views that led to the mall shooting.
This series has kept me on my toes and I can’t wait for the next book!
I love the Winter Black series. Having strong female leads are good role models for younger females. The new books always pull me in immediately and don't let go until the end. But this time there was a cliff hanger. I hate having to wait for another book to come out. But I love it when they finally get here! The characters are very well developed and believable. The dialogue flows freely and smoothly. The editing is always clean for this author. There are no sexual scenes or inappropriate language. I look so forward to the next book. I want Winter to finally find her brother.
This is one of the best FBI series I have read. Each book is better than the previous one and this one is fantastic. Sick, but absolutely fascinating. The bad guys are truly reprehensible and the good guys (and women) are truly dedicated to protecting the innocent. Hopefully, Winter's nightmare will come to an end soon, but not in this book. I have to say that Mary Stone's writing is spot on as well as adept in her characterizations. I am looking forward to the next book and the end of this storyline.
"She didn’t want them to be right. None of them. She wanted a miracle." - Winter Black
Winter Black, FBI agent, finds herself at a crossroads; either pursue finding her brother, or give up. But before Winter can follow her intuition, a new "domestic terrorist" has appeared in the FBI's radar... And he is every bit as dangerous and deadly as an angry cobra.... Twisting men's minds and beliefs, becoming the storm... One that will sweep away life as we know it...
Winter Storm is in Fact A Storm Of unanswered Questions . What we do know Is all Survivors of the massacre at the Riverside Mall must Die because it was meant that way by a Cult. Jamie believes they are all Sinners and must be eliminated that is the mission. Winter and the whole Gang are back but can they Stop him and What Will Winter Do when she is Faced with The Cult Leader, The Monster, is it her Brother? Grab Book 8 of Winter Black Series its a Page Turner .....
This is the 8th book in the Winter Storm series and each one is better then the last. A great suspense filled thriller with plenty of action and lots of twists and turns. It continues with plots and characters from previous books. Winter and Noah get closer and it is nice to see them evolve. I highly recommend this book. I received this as an ARC member. Can't wait until the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed reading this book with all the different cases they are involved in. Lots of twists and turns. Not exactly what I expected and that is okay. I like when I can't figure out who is doing what. Great read and I can hardly wait for the next book in this series. I love that characters and care about them. Thank you to the author and publisher for an advance review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own
This latest installment of the FBI Agent Winter Black series finds Winter getting closer to finding her brother, Justin. She's consumed with the question of who he will be.....a good young man? Or a monster? What are his intentions in reaching out to her? As all of this series of books, this leaves me eager for the next book, and a bit edgy that the ride may soon be over.
An amazing thriller with well created characters, loved the transformation of Winter from a naive teenager to an FBI agent and her journey to hell and back, loved the small little plots that although connected to the main provided a slight relive Hoping Winter can survive the storm and come out stronger also cannot imagine these are the first books written by Mary Stone
Here we are on book 8 of this series and I can tell you, the twists and turns of this plot will keep you reading!! I have enjoyed this series, although it scares me to pieces that there are people like this in our world. I can't imagine the thoughts going through her mind. She has two strong men trying to keep her safe from the truth and danger! I am so looking forward to Book 9!
I really like Winter. This is another good piece to the story, although unlike the other books, it doesn't really have a full conclusion.
One of the things I like best about these books is that the antagonist's chapters are done in first person. This is nice because you know more details of what's happening without k owing who it is. It also makes that character more relatable than just a stock "bad guy". I feel like this gives additional depth the the stories as a whole.
Oh my. How to say this. The plot is intriguing. But the writing is sophomoric. And growing worse. Repeating of the same phrases (tick it up a notch; flicked her hair over her shoulders etc) is tedious at best. We know her hair is ebony and her eyes are blue ~ this does not move the story. The plot is good. I just wish another author had written the books. I’ll finish this series because I want to know how it ends, but I’ll not read another series by this author. Even if it is free.
That's it? You write all of these great books (not amazing) but enough to keep me just enough to read the whole series to see how it all ends and that's how you leave it? Just hanging? Really? WOW! Now im sorry I wasted all that time reading 8 books!!! Sorry for the spoil guys but the author just leaves ya hanging!!!!
Its been awhile since I read an ending which you just yell "NO"! Justin/Jamie are is almost at the cross hairs of the FBI. Winter knows. But truly, the horrors that six year old started living at the hands of the Preacher. Indoctrination of the worse kind. All I can think of is its not his fault. But he is a twisted, nineteen/twenty year old. The FBI and local police of Danville were still trying to warn the survivor of the hostages taken during the mall shooting. Aiden and Winter are thinking along the lines of Charles Manson with the ability of followers killing as being brainwashed. Both Jamie and Manson were charismatic, having the aura to manipulate with the idea changing of society. The biggest difference is Charles Manson didn't have access to the new age, computers. And Jamie is prolific but needed others to carry through the internets deepest, darkest websites. The only two people who did not disappoint him were mall shooters. Winter is still in the investigation of the third person of the manifesto found on the internet. So on to the end of Winter's tale. As much as I loved Mary Stone's books with Winter Black as the FMC, Mary has at least ten more main characters as FBI agents with up to ten books a series. After Autumn's series, I'll have to move on. So many books and not enough time.
Winter's Storm is the eighth book in the Winter Black Series by Mary Stone and another 5-star installment. The growth of the main characters and depth of depravity of the criminals keeps each book fresh and interesting. Everytime I think I know what's happening, she throws in a twist and a turn and I'm back to square one, again.
Winter’s storm may be the best one yet. The first chapter grabs you, setting the scene. Then it might seem a little slow as we catch up to our FBI friends' personal lives - but then it takes off running, page after page.
Just as the FBI thinks The Preacher and the Riverside Mall Massacre is behind them, they find out five survivors of the Mall massacre have been killed in the last six months. As the LEO's and FBI start working together to warn the remaining survivors, it seems the killer(s) are a step ahead of them. But we know who the killer is, don't we? Or, then again, do we?
I don't suggest reading this book as a stand-alone. There will be too many questions left unanswered for you and one big cliffhanger. Winter #9 better out be soon. No pressure Mary, but . . .
I did receive an Advance Readers Copy from the authors. The above is my honest review.

Once again we are following the continuing story of Winter Black. Mary Stone doesnt disappoint in this story. This is Book 8, read the previous books to keep on track, although Ms Stone's series can be read as a read-alone also because she does fill in the spaces.
We find ourselves once again with Winter Black and a serial killer. This one may be closer to Winter than she is aware of. After the massacre in the mall which killed many people, the killers were caught but their cult lives on deciding to finish what was started. They are now after the hostages and have decided they need to die also.
And so we find Winter, Aiden, Noah, Autumn and others putting their heads together to find the one man who is bringing havoc to their city. A fast read and a page turner. #fourstars #kindleunlimited
Just when Winter thought all of her horrible past was behind her, one piece of the puzzle has resurfaced with a vengeance. Will this be the thing that finally breaks her, or will she lean on her friends and colleagues to help her get through what is going to be worse than the tragedies she's already suffered through? You'll have to read this to find out. I would highly recommend that you read this series from the beginning. Each book is generally about one case, but there is a secondary plot that continues throughout the series that you'll only be able to understand by reading all of the stories. They're all absolutely fantastic, and you certainly won't be disappointed. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
I've really loved reading this series so far. It gets better and better with every book. My heart goes out to Winter. She's had so much to deal with in her life. It's made her strong and resilient but it's left a big scar on her heart. Luckily, she has Noah to support her and their relationship has gone from strength to strength, even as her relationship with Aiden Parrish has faultered. In the last book Winter said she felt a storm was brewing. She felt it's ominous presence heading her way. In this book that storm takes place as her baby brother, Justine, shows his true colours. The next book will be that storm breaking...for good or evil. Who will survive?
Police suspect a serial may be to blame as the survivors of the massacre at Riverside Mall are being killed one after another so they call in the FBI. On the case is Winter Black and as she chases down a suspect who is later found murdered, thee case keeps getting more and more twisted.
This is a great series and this book is no exception. Full of action and intrigue, this book grabbed my attention from the start and kept me hooked until the end. It was well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you'll like and others you won't. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
As much as this series of FBI cases has kept me on my toes, this one dragged even as the crew began finally putting the pieces together. Good writing and interesting facts about procedures, especially regarding interviewing compared to interrogation by law enforcement and FBI. I, however, am done with all the murders and Winter’s seemingly/probably crazy brother. Will not bother with book 9. Enough time wasted with repetitive events and characters’ behaviors.
FBI Agent Winter Black is assigned to work on a case where the survivors of a mall shooting are being killed. The killer is killing innocents who have already been victims. The pressure to protect these individuals is overwhelming as is the need to catch the killer. When the killer ends up dead, the agents wonder who is behind it. Is Winter's brother somehow involved? I enjoy reading about continuing characters. I really enjoy the characters in this series. If you like series with interesting protagonists then I would recommend this for you.
