I had such fun with this book and Cara is going on my favorite heroine's list. She was sweet, adorable, and little bit of quirky. She also had a great attitude no matter what situation she was in. I'm usually all about the heroes but she was just as good as he was in this.

Henry is the strong, silent type. He only showed hints of a smile when Cara would be cute with him. He seemed to get attached to her quickly and was very protective of her. I really adored these two. There is nothing better than finding a book where I loved both main characters.

Despite how drawn these two were together, this is a very slow burn. Mainly because there was a lot of action in this storyline. Cara seemed to get into trouble pretty quickly and often, and Henry spent a lot of his time protecting her.

I have not read the first book, which I am definitely going back and do, but I'm wondering if there is more information on the mom's situation in book one. There is enough mentioned in this one to not leave you lost though.

Fun read!

I quickly found myself caught up in this tale from the interesting storyline to the Pax sisters.

I have been enjoying this series and after a teaser couldn’t wait for Cara’s story. Cara is the teams researcher and a part-time student working towards her degree. She is bubby, optimistic and easy to imagine her as Kindergarten teacher. Her love for her family has her hunting down, Henry Kavenski. Why she thought a killer would make the perfect first skip is beyond me. 🤣

From their first encounter, I suspected there is more to Henry than his rap sheet, and soon Cara pursues another skip which on paper looks safer. Only it ends up bringing more trouble. Stranger still; Henry seems to be in the middle of it. Is he mixed up in it or her savior?

Kidnappings, near deaths, near kisses … it was intense, and I loved every minute! The suspense angle took front and center in Risk it All, and the romance offered balance, humor, and swoons. Cara and Henry were the focus, but we spent some time with the sisters, and even got a sneak peek at what the next audiobook has for us. I cannot wait!

Callie Beaulieu does a great job with Ruggle’s romantic suspense series on audio and I enjoy both her male and female voices. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

You might think this series is about male bounty hunters, but the Pax sisters are the ones doing the hunting and I love that! Cara has been more on the research side, looking into “skips” as they call them, and digging up as much info to aid in their capture. But since their flaky, self-centered mother put them in a bind financially by putting the family home (which the sisters paid for!) up as collateral for bail and then skipped, Cara wants to help as much as she can with the business.

Cara decides to bring in a few high dollar skips and this is where she crosses paths with Henry Kavenski. He’s wanted for murder, but his actions are more that of a protector than “murderer”, so Cara knows there’s more to the story. Add her ever growing crush on the handsome, broody big man, and her efforts to bring in a skip aren’t going too well.

Henry’s role as protector really come into play when Cara shifts her focus onto another skip, who on paper seems like a pretty harmless catch, but turn into a nightmare of danger for Cara. The story really takes off and becomes an action-packed ride with Cara and Henry fighting for survival at every turn.

I love Katie Ruggle’s brand of romantic suspense/action thrillers, because while there’s lots of danger and thrills the romances are charming and, in this case, delightfully awkward at times. Cara is sweet and a little shy, and Henry isn’t really talkative, but his actions speak volumes. I breezed right through Risk It All in one day, and I can’t wait for the next installment!

As a side note, Risk It All can be read as a standalone, but Molly and John’s story (In Her Sights) was a lot of fun too, so why would you want to?

Cara is the sweet sister who doesn’t really get physically involved in the family Bounty business but instead helps by doing background checks in between studying to be a teacher. Still after the mess their mother left them in Cara is determined to do more to help and decides to track down a dangerous man who hasn’t returned for his bail hearing but getting caught by him trying to get into his motel room is just the start of Cara’s problems !
Ok I’m going to be blunt and say I wasn’t impressed initially by Cara as she came across as juvenile and pretty much acted like a teenager with a really pathetic crush ! However yes there’s a but coming I soon realised that as part of a large family she was perhaps just a little more quirky than I expected considering she’s about to become an educator and when things go downhill fast she really impressed me . Now naturally we have a hero and his name is Henry and he is gruff, pretty much the strong silent type and actually also adorable and I want a Henry of my own ! The action was non stop and so intense that I almost wanted to read from behind my hands which should let you know just how much hot or not water this couple get into ! Fabulous characters and simply a very entertaining story so an easy five from me.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I had a good time with the first book introducing five bounty hunter sisters trying to make a living and deal with their low life mom's antics. Cara the college student with plans to be a kindergarten teacher and does the firm's research decides she needs to get into the active end of bringing down some big money bounties to help out her sisters pull the heavier load when mayhem ensues.

Risk It All is book two in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series. The first book set the premise for the series and this carries over so that this is best read in order. Though, it does start a new case so in a pinch could be read out of order.

Cara sees the tiredness and stress in Molly as she handles all the load of bringing in bounties to keep the family heads above water while two of their sisters are out hunting down their conniving mom who skipped town and left them with so much trouble. The stolen necklace their mom hid has brought every low life to their home attempting break ins to find it even while another sort of low life now holds the deed on their home and insists they take the really nasty bounties or he'll foreclose.

This leads Cara to leave behind her academics and research to hit the street tailing a murderer. She's so bad at it that he's onto her and does the craziest thing in letting her go. She suspects Henry isn't guilty though she has no proof and only has an inconvenient attraction for him. The spark for Henry is the least of her troubles when her next assignment gets her into worse danger and her life is on the line. Good thing Henry knows a thing or two about keeping them alive.

I enjoyed getting to know all the sisters and their situation in book one, but moving forward into Risk It All was even better. Cara is fumbling and bumbling her way along, but I had a good time as she wasn't stupid just in experienced. She wants to be an early childhood teacher and she knows she's not cut out to be an action heroine like three of her sisters, but she has a strong sense of loyalty and love that won't allow her to stay safely behind her lap top screen, either. She's not utterly helpless and absorbed more of Felicity's self-defense and endurance training than she realized. I thought it was great when she started crushing on Henry her first attempt at active bounty-hunting and he ends up being there for her through some harrowing scenes. Where she was hopelessly out of her depths, he was grimly capable.

Oh yes, this one was exciting and had a fab chase scene and then survival situation. Cara and Henry were busy trying to stay alive through it all and the attraction buzzed, but so did something more as their time together taught them more about each other than a string of dates might have. The twists at the end didn't surprise me though I have to admit that I didn't anticipate them, either. Can't say there was much movement toward solving the situation with their mom, but I didn't even care because this book was so intense and engaging.

I'm going to keep it vague because I don't want to give away the good stuff. If I had a niggle, it's related to some of the things I must be vague about like Henry. I do wish that there had been more at the end that got into his background, but there was enough so he wasn't an entire blank slate and I do get why all that couldn't have come out earlier.

All in all, I loved this one better than book one and am now jazzed for Norah's story in book three. Those who enjoy caper and humor, action and slightly spicy romance for a lady bounty hunter crew should give this book/series a go.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cara is studying to become a teacher, but she also wants to help her bounty hunting sisters. So she decides to catch a bad guy.

Ok stop here, Cara, what were you thinking?! Not without back up from people who know what they are doing! She is just lucky the bounty is a hot nice guy.

Henry is accused of murder and has fled.

Ok so yes, she does get friendly with a murderer on the run, and trusts him quickly. But hey maybe he had really kind eyes. And well, I believe it.

Honestly there is so much going on that I can't say. All from her mother putting them all in jeopardy, to conspiracies, to gangsters, drama, and let's not forget romance...after quite some time cos these people are too busy to get down. There is danger, running and more running.

I did enjoy the fast pace of the story

This is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series. The series follows five sisters who are bounty hunters and struggling to make it as their mother seems to throw roadblocks in their path every chance she gets.

Cara Pax never really wanted to be a bounty hunter. She’s actually in school to be a teacher. She always helped out as a researcher, never in the field. However, she really feels like a burden on her sisters and wants to carry more of her weight. So she decides to take on a bounty by herself without her sisters’ knowledge, because they all have a lot on their plate trying to find their mother. However, Cara takes on more than she can really handle with this bounty.

Henry Kavenski has a bounty on his head as he skipped bail for murder. He is trying to prove his innocence. However, the people after him want to use Cara to get to him. They kidnap her and he comes to her rescue.

This is a pretty fast paced story as there are kidnappings and car chases. The attraction between Kavenski and Cara is strong and really is from the beginning, but both have more concerns on their minds.

I continue to have a great time with this series. I can’t wait to read the other stories of the sisters and see where things go with their mother.

Narration
Callie Beaulieu continues to do a great job with the narration of this series. I like all the voices and tone she uses for each character and scene. I’ve only listened to her with Katie Ruggle books, but I would love to listen to her more. I would recommend her.

**I'd like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

My rating might be a bit biased but I’m so excited that I liked this one so much more than Molly and John’s story that I just can’t feel guilty over it! The anticipation for this new series has been revitalized :)

Cara’s book was set at a slightly faster pace than the previous book. It also didn’t have any information dumping when it came to the other sisters, didn't re-hash the whole story regarding the stolen necklace, the missing criminal mom or convoluted family history. I think that helped a whole lot to keep the story on track and focused on the MCs rather than the numerous secondary characters.

I did think it was a bit weird that the story was told in 3rd person but solely from Cara’s POV. I kept waiting for the narrative to switch to Henry. He was my kind of Hero and I was dying of curiosity to get inside his head. Having said that, Cara managed to engage me completely, so in the end, I still ended up really liked the story.

As a researcher in her family's bounty hunting business, Cara stays safe behind her computer screen and is more than happy to let her other sisters take a more hands on role in the family business. When she’s not researching possible skips, Cara is trying to complete her schooling to become a teacher. But that has to take a back burner when finding their mother proves more elusive then they'd originally thought and time is starting to run out. Feeling that it’s time she took some of the pressure off her older sister Molly, Cara decides she’s going to bring in a high paying skip. And Henry Kavenski fits the bill. As an alleged murderer his bounty is lucrative. Probably not the best idea for her first assignment ... but Cara is nothing if not determined.

Until she meets Henry and everything she thought she knew about him goes up in smoke. The more she discovers, the more Cara finds herself doubting the facts. Because a guy who risks his life to save a puppy and rescues her several times without hesitation after barely knowing her, has to be more than meets the eye. Cara loves a good puzzle and Henry Kavenski is too tempting a puzzle to resist.

I would definitely commend reading In Her Sights first to understand the foundation of the story - it is way slower - but looking back, the information there builds with each story. This can definitely be read as a standalone if you don't mind filling in the blanks as you go. The author did a great job giving you the bare necessities without going overboard so you wont get lost along the way. Cara and Henry definitely had that slow simmer attraction, the push and pull tension, easy lighthearted humor and warm romance that I love KR for.

Cara Pax is a researcher not a bounty hunter, but with the sisters spread thin due to their mother stealing a priceless necklace and (probably) skipping bail they need all hands on deck. The trouble is Cara isn't particularly good and her first trace, Henry Kavenski, catches her breaking into his hotel room and Cara is pretty sure he didn't buy her flimsy excuses about looking for her boyfriend.

After striking out with Henry Cara decides to try a simpler capture, which turns about to be anything but, weirdly Kavenski turns up at the same time as Cara is scoping out the local dive bar, and then rescues her from an attempted murder.

Cara goes from scrape to scrape and Henry keeps rescuing her.

I really enjoyed the first book in this new series, it combined humour, mystery and romance in a way reminiscent of Janet Evanovich's early books in the Stephanie Plum series. However, I didn't get the same warm fuzzies about this book. For me it felt like most of the book was spent with Cara and Henry on the run, getting captured, escaping, on the run, rinse-and-repeat. There didn't seem to be any advancement of the arc about their mother and the missing necklace.

Here's hoping that the next book in the series goes back to more traditional bounty hunting.

Oh my God. I love this series. It's perfection. I don't know how Ruggle had me falling in love with accused murderer and bail jumper Henry Kavenski and I don't care. What's a couple murders when the guy's gorgeous, enormous, and surly? I'll still dig it.

Ruggle is writing about 5 sisters and somehow they all have incredible defined personalities. I could pick them apart by their dialogue alone. And, while this book is mostly following Cara and Henry on their twosome adventures, it's not without the hilarious quips and comments from the secondary characters.

There is so much excitement packed between these pages and from the very first interaction between Cara and Henry the sparks FLY. There's no wondering or questioning whether they're right for each other. Their personalities are complete opposites, but it works... oh man, it works.

Anyone who isn't reading Katie Ruggle is a fool.

DNF @ 80% - I read a fair amount of this book trying to understand it. The meet-cute between the two characters is, to me, highly problematic (she's a bounty hunter, he's an accused murderer). Though it's fairly obvious Henry is innocent, Cara is attracted to him even before she has an inkling of his innocence. Coupled with the premise and the writing, this just wasn't for me.

In the first book in this series, In Her Sights, readers met the five spunky Pax sisters. They have running a lucrative bail recovery business. Keeping their mother Jane on the right side of the law was a job all on its own. Now that she has committed yet another crime, skipping bail after putting up the girls' family house up as bail, the business and family home are now in jeopardy.

Now Cara has her turn at bat. However, she is the least likely sister that has a chance at succeeding in this business. Give her the background work, and she is golden. So, she takes a chance at a huge skip in the name of Henry Kavenski. Try as she might and she runs into many obstacles. If she could just nab him, Cara is sure she will prove herself to her sisters once and for all. Meanwhile, Henry has a convincing story. However, will he get time to tell it?

Cara and Henry end up working together, giving Cara a chance to prove herself. She has to divide her time between classes (in college to become a kindergarten teacher) and the next skip, and things are far from easy. Cara is actually a magnet for trouble and Henry is never far behind keeping her safe. Meanwhile, Cara is drawn to Henry, and, if they could stay alive long enough, the pair just might have their turn at love.

I am enjoying these sisters. The fare in the first two books is rather lighthearted, but I did love seeing five women in a field I've not often seen in books. They certainly have plenty of work in front of them, and danger is always nipping at their heels. Factor in humor and romance and Katie Ruggle has the right formula for what should be a successful series.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Risk It All is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters by Katie Ruggle. The story is not completely stand-alone and while it can be read as such, I would recommend reading book 1 (In her sights) or at least reading some reviews of it. While we still have the plot about the Pax mama going on, the main focus is on Henry and what is going on about him, so I don't believe that readers will have a huge problem jumping into this book without having read the previous one. Like the first book, the story is told entirely-ish from the heroine's point of view and yes, sometimes I was left wondering what Henry was thinking.

Having read the first two books in the series back to back, I gotta say that this one is improved compared to the first one. The characters are more developed and so is the romance. Cara and Henry's relationship was more believable than Molly and John's and I liked that because I was left wanting when I finished In her sights, while this one gave me some sense of satisfaction. The romance was good for a novel that is more focused on the suspense aspect of the story.

Both characters were likable which was a good thing about the story. I felt like I knew Henry better than I knew John and that's also an improvement. I got used to the writing style and I simply felt like the story flew better in this book. I am sorry, but I can't help but compare the two books in the series. Even if you didn't like the first book, I would recommend giving this one a chance because I believe that it will surprise you.

Risk It All is the 2nd book in a series with the fascinating premise of five sisters running a bounty hunting agency. Cara is the sister featured in this book. She is normally a researcher and computer expert for the agency, but is trying to do some work in actually finding and apprehending bond jumpers in this book. Henry is an accused murderer who has skipped out on his bail, so the sisters are responsible for finding and bringing him in. Cara goes out on her own to locate him, without any of her sisters knowing what she is up to, and instead of apprehending him, she is soon admiring him while he helps and protects her as she faces danger.

This is a hard one for me to review. I'm generally a fan of Ruggle, and I did really like the way this one ended. However, I had issues with the relationship between Cara and Henry until that end. I didn't feel that the crush Cara immediately had on Henry was very credible. She was very drawn to him well before she knew him well enough to feel that he was innocent of brutally murdering two people. That just didn't sit well with me.

I didn't feel that Henry was developed especially well, so I was still not totally onboard with their romance until I understood more about him at the end.

Cara Pax doesn’t want to be a bounty hunter. Her dream is to become a kindergarten teacher, but knows the bounty hunting is what pays for her college classes. She may be a wiz on the computer, able to research all aspects of a case, but she hasn’t done much field work. Since her sisters are all busy on other cases, she takes it upon herself to jump in the field tracking Henry Kavenski. As she continues her research and her surveillance, she becomes convinced that he isn’t guilty.

She is quirky and a little naive, but has a whole lot of heart. He is protective, quick thinking, and on the run. Together they are an unlikely pair working together to clear his name.

There was more action packed into this story than there was relationship building. These two quickly find themselves in situation after situtaion that requires quick thinking and fortitude to get out of. Cara’s inexperience in the field causes her to make several decisions based on her naivete and makes keeping her safe even harder for Henry.

I was really hoping the story arc with their mother and the stolen necklace was going to play a bigger role in this storyline, but the search for both their mother and the necklace was all off page (and not really mentioned). This was a fun return to the Pax sister’s story and I look forward to more from this series.

For most of this book Cara was in over her head, guilted into helping her sisters save their house. Cara was lucky that all was not as it seemed and Henry was a good guy. Things quickly go crazy for them and they are on the run. By the end of the book I was happy that Cara found out the truth and that she found her happy.

3.5 stars. There was only one bed! And a lot of bullets and danger!

This book- while no literary masterpiece- was just simple and sweet and fun. Hero and heroine were good people, kind to each other. No big misunderstanding, just a bit of a mystery. Definitely will be reading the rest of the series when i need a pick-me-up.

"Vivid and charming.”—CHARLAINE HARRIS, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series for the Search and Rescue series

Fighting to save each other

What People Are Saying:
"I love Ruggle's characters. They're sharply drawn, and vividly alive. I'm happy when they find each other. These are wonderful escapist books.”—CHARLAINE HARRIS, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series
"Sexy and suspenseful, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.”—JULIE ANN WALKER, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author for Hold Your Breath
"Chills and thrills and a sexy slow-burning romance from a terrific new voice.”—D.D. AYRES, author of the K-9 Rescue series for Hold Your Breath

My Thoughts

Cara Ellen Pax, or just Cara as is her preference, is more at ease doing research than fieldwork.

Finding out just how much her sisters need her to pitch in outside that comfort zone results in Cara biting off more than she was prepared to handle.

The chain of events that followed make up an action packed story that is a great follow-up to the first book.

From the first book these 5 sisters personalities have been strongly defined, however as is necessary each one is only given enough space in each book to further their involvement with each other and the families bounty hunting business.

The exception of course being the main character, which is the sister at the center of the story that is told throughout each book.

In Cara’s case she has almost non-stop page time, from her initial faux pas with skip Henry Kavenski to the not quite hilarious output that continually manages to pass her lips in his presence this second book is so easy to get into it is almost criminal when the story is over.

I loved the interaction between Cara and the rest, loved the setup for she and Henry’s oh-so-slow romance to come to fruition, loved the fact that the two had to face hardships in a realistic manner during the authors scenes, loved how Cara grew into her role and truly love the fact that there is more to look forward to from these women and their men in future!

Let me start by saying Katie Ruggle is an instabuy author for me. I love the Search and Rescue series and Gone Too Deep is one of my favorite couples ever. I have read everything she's published, so I know her stories can be a bit over the top and you have to suspend disbelief on occasion.

Yet I can't get over how disappointing this book was.
Let me count the ways...

Part One: The Characters
Heroine Cara Pax helps her sisters with research for their bounty hunting business while studying to be a kindergarten teacher. I don't know how to explain why I don't believe her as a teacher except that I forgot until it was sprinkled in apparently just to remind the reader. It just seemed like it was a character type shortcut more than anything.

She also teetered on the bring of Too Stupid To Live more than I would like. She seems oblivious to danger – – yet she clearly could use her self-defense training when necessary.

Hero Henry Kavenski seems to suffer from a lack of personality. The brooding stares and the lip quirks, oh my. This could've possibly been helped by duel POV story-telling but that's typically not the author's way.

We had yet more character shortcuts with our hero's random acts of, well, heroics. We know it's a romance and he's not actually a bad guy...

The Other Part: Plot Conveniences
As I mentioned before, there needs to be a bit of suspension of disbelief with Ruggle's plots but it's ok with me because it results in a fun, if overly dramatic, story. In this book, there were just a few too many conveniences to overlook.

Least of all was their ability to get through all the crossfire with nary a scratch. Your favorite action movie could never.

I will continue to read this series, mainly in hopes that this was a blip on the radar with middle book syndrome and it will pick back up in the next installment.

I LOVE Ruggle’s books, but this one wasn’t my favorite. I felt there wasn’t enough dialogue between the characters or action. Too much time was spent on Cara’s internal thoughts about everything. I did like Henry and the end of the book was good so hopefully the third installment will be more fast paced and intriguing.

I hate giving a book just 3*s, but I found myself skimming narratives that were supposed to be suspenseful but were just tedious and full of minutiae. I did like the twist that I didn’t see coming. And I liked Henry and Cara was funny and cute.

Although I was happy for Cara and Henry’s HEA, the romance was kind of wooden.

The story of the Pax sister bounty hunters continues in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series. Cara is the heroine of this story. For someone who is studying to be a kindergarten teacher, who does computer research for bounty hunting, she has guts. She wants to help since things are dire financially.  She decides to do some surveillance of some skips and things go downhill from there.

Henry is the hot skip for a murder charge who shouldn't be so attractive. Once he began getting Cara out of trouble, I saw exactly who he was. You'll have to read the story for yourself.  Their romance happens fast but in the adrenaline of romantic suspense it seems right. The life and death situations they face together makes them a team.

Risk It All is a bit ridiculous as far as being realistic but all kinds of fun and thrilling action. Cara made me laugh.  She may have been out of her depth at times but she wasn't stupid or careless.  Henry really was a great guy in a rough situation.  I loved how he treated Cara.  I was also pleased with his straightforward honesty at the end.

The epilogue is about Nora and it had me snickering.  I'm guessing she will be next to find her man.  The overall story arc of the business and cases will carry through the series, with a new couple in each book.  I liked this better than the first book and I'm looking forward to more.

Narration:
I have heard this narrator before on other books by Katie Ruggle.  The primary voice was Cara and she performed it well.  It sounded very similar to Molly from the first book, but it's been awhile.  I was comfortable with the other female and male voices. The emotional status of Cara was well performed with the narration adding to my enjoyment of the story.  I listened at my usual 1.5x speed.

A romance with bounty hunters, an accused murderer, a homicidal crime figure, car chase, and kidnapping shouldn't be cute and cuddly, but Cara and Henry's story is full of adorable. This was pure rom-com sweetness, mixed with a lot of lethal threats.
“Henry Kavenski, did you just save me from death by speeding car?”
Despite her family's bounty hunter business, Cara really is a lover, not a fighter. But despite her goal to become a kindergarten teacher and the murder charge pending against Henry, these two kids just get each other. Even with killers chasing at their heels and several brushes with death, Cara and Henry are just sweetly, quietly digging each other.
It was foolhardy to involve herself any more with Henry Kavenski, who’d already swept her up into his personal tornado of trouble. Because of him, she’d been kidnapped, almost shot, almost blown to bits, driven off a cliff, and dragged through a blizzard wearing sleeves on her feet. A smart person would try to get far away from Henry as fast as she could. A smart person wouldn’t be a fraction of an inch away from kissing him. A smart person wouldn’t like him so darn much.
Katie Ruggle crafted a super entertaining story where a timid bounty hunger falls for an enigmatic man charged with murder and the chemistry between Cara and Henry is so good that their logic-defying story somehow make a whole lot of sense.
On paper, he didn’t seem like a guy she should trust, but this was the second—possibly third—time he’d saved her life. It was no wonder she wanted to throw herself into his burly arms and take comfort against his rock-hard chest.
I'm not really invested in the overall arc involving the Pax sisters' larcenous and missing mom, but the Pax sisters themselves have been such adrenaline-charged romantic adventures that I can't wait for the next one.

Note: thanks for NetGalley and the publisher for providing the much appreciated eARC which I voluntarily read and reviewed.

ARC REVIEW

Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters #2, This was such a fun read. I like that it gives you a brief recap at the beginning of the book to catch you up if you haven't read the first one or just a refresher if you have. Cara is not a skip trace like her other sisters she prefers the research when she's not studying to become a teacher but with the crap going on with her mom and two of her sisters concentrating their efforts on finding her she tries to help out unfortunately she just gets herself into danger. Accused murder Henry Kavenski is the skip she decides will bring in enough money to help support the family, but she soon realizes she is in way over her head and decides to drop it for one a little less violent crime related but even then it turns out not to be as easy as she thinks.

Henry spots Cara her first day of following him and when he catches her trying to break in to his hotel room he thinks she's properly scared off but when she accidentally sits down at his booth in a sleazy bar tracking someone else down he warns her that there is more to that case than she thinks. Following her to return something as inconsequential as a bottle of aspirin may not have been smart but he had to make sure she dropped looking for the other skip. In doing so he might have just put her in more danger.

Cara gets kidnapped and thankfully Henry shows up when he did and saves her even if they end up driving the car off the road and have to trek two day through the cold mountains before they get to a town all the while dodging bad guys. Overall, it was a great read. I loved the twist at the end, I was hoping it would be something like that and I'm glad the story worked out the way it did. Katie Ruggle is an auto buy for me as soon as I see the paperback in the store it goes in my cart. I always enjoy her characters, Cara is sweet and stronger than she thinks, Henry is a strong silent type (my favorite). Ruggle ties humor in so well with the action. The entire story was enjoyable.

I loved it! I forgot this book came out a while back and it was sitting in my TBR list. I always enjoy Ms. Ruggle's books and this one certainly didn't disappoint.

Cara was a bit aloof at times, but she kept me laughing. It's not her fault she sat behind a computer all the time and never had to get out and do actual field work.

And Henry certainly surprised me with that reveal at the end! Didn't see that coming, but I loved it. He was a bit of an enigma for most of the book. We didn't get his POV, so we never knew what was going on in that head of his. He didn't outwardly project his feelings and emotions oftentimes, so we were left guessing.

I loved the chemistry between Cara and Henry. I loved that Cara saw the good in him despite what was written on paper. I loved that Henry protected her with everything he had and when he found himself needing help, Cara displayed her strength (physically and emotionally) and really stepped up and showed what she was made of.

All in all, a great book. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the whole car chase scene seemed to go on FOREVER. I lost track of how many chapters it lasted (and maybe it just felt like it lasted that long). It became filler material after a while and I found myself doing a quick read/scan of the page to fast forward past all the details of the curves and rocks.

Second in the series about the five Pax sisters and their bounty hunting business, you shouldn't have too much trouble picking up the plot if you missed out on reading the first one… but if you did read In Her Sights, don't expect much plot progression on the main drama introduced there, because this one really just takes a diversion and doesn't introduce any new information on that original plot.

Said diversion being the introduction of Henry, a bail skip with a big bounty the sisters could really use. Cara normally just handles research, but with all hands on deck, she plans on bringing Henry in. An attraction isn't just inconvenient, but turns potentially lethal when she's kidnapped by one of Henry's enemies. Henry unexpectedly rescues her and they end up on the run together… cue some trope-tastic scenes of Lost In The Wilderness, Snowed In Together and the evergreen There's Only One Bed.

It's all very predictable - I saw Henry's big reveal coming about 20 miles off - but it's also really well written. A quick read, it's about as unchallenging as a romantic suspense can get. There's plenty of action but I did find it a little too predictable. Four stars.

Risk It All is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series. I like books about bounty hunters in general but the twist in this series is that they are women. Actually, five sisters who have a successful bail recovery business. Cara did the computer research for bounty hunting but she wanted to do more to bring in money. So, without telling anybody, she went after a man who was charged with murder and jumped bail named Henry Kavenski. Her sisters went after skips all the time, so how hard could it be? Lots of things happened making her understand that what her sisters did was not easy at all.

Cara and Henry became close as they worked together. How could she not fall for the man? He's gorgeous and always there to get her out of trouble. And there was lots of it. If they didn't get killed, they might have a chance to become more to each other.

I really liked Cara. Even though I didn't think it was smart of her to go off on her own after a skip, she really was very smart and careful, too. I liked that being in a tough situation didn't stop Henry from being a kind, honest man and wonderful to Cara.

I liked this book a lot (more than the first one) so I am glad I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I liked this installment in the series. Cara is an intelligent woman who gets in way over her head while trying to help the business. She may end up being a damsel in distress because of that, but she shows enough grit and determination – not to mention a quirky sense of humor – to make it enjoyable. Henry is my favorite “is he good or is he bad” kind of man. I also liked that it took a while to figure that out. Their romance didn’t scorch the pages and that was fine and fit well with the story. Although I wished there was more a group dynamic between the sisters, the storyline and romance between Henry and Cara was a wild ride. Some improbable situations? Possibly…but so much fun. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The heroine is one of 5 bounty hunting sisters-- the youngest, I believe-- who wants to be a kindergarten teacher. But because the house where they all live is threatened by their awful mother, she decides that she needs to do more than research to help the family bounty hunting business. So she goes alone to do a little field research on a big-money skip who's been charged with a double murder. In his motel room. And she gets caught. By the really hot possible felon she's bounty hunting. But he seems a lot nicer than a murderer would be. Still, he scares her, so she decides to pick a different skip to hunt, but this one is not what he seems either, but in the other direction. He's meaner than he looks. And this sends the heroine into danger, with the hero running hard to save her. Then they're running from the really bad guy together. It's a good read. I liked it a lot. Really good stuff.

Ruggle's Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunter Series is more than expected. I need to go back and pick up "IN Her Sights" the first in this story. This family of sibling running a bounty hunting business is a refreshing idea. Cara Pax is hoping to become a kindergarten teacher but she has to try to help the family business because of her thieving and missing mother has left their home in jeopardy. Her efforts lead her into danger and put her life in the balance. Henry Kavenski is one of her skips and seems to be her rescuer. Intense scenes are told with vivid detail. "A copy of this book was provided by SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." This Pax a Wallop!!
