He is… half my age, my son’s friend, and he calls me Daddy. I bring him to his knees until he does the same to me.
“He was like a greedy little puppy, trying to please me. And goddamn, I needed him to need me.”
A May/December Romance. After their first encounter in “Take it All”, Lost and Found explores how Dave and Carter’s relationship took root and blossomed.
Lost and Found contains graphic language and explicit sexual content and is intended for a mature, adult audience looking for an emotional ride.
Content preview: a sprinkle of Daddy kink, spanking, dirty talk, major age gap, romance, no cliffhanger
this was something new and different. baby boy daddy kink is something i've never tried before and surprisingly, i enjoyed it.
only the ending was weird? i needed a couple of clarifications like what happened during their separation? were they with anyone else? also do Carter's parents and Cody know about the relationship??
too many unanswered questions but it did make me cry.
overall, i enjoyed it. if you're looking for a short read with baby boy daddy kink, then i'd recommend this one!
In the novella Lost and Found authors Quin and Perin pick up one couple’s tale after they get together in Take it All. While not a prerequisite, reading Take it All first does provide a nice setup for the characters, and the authors make it easy by including the story at the end of this one.
From the moment I met Dave and Carter I hoped these two could have a future. Their initial seduction in Take it All is hot as hell. You know how it goes: Dave’s consumed by lustful fantasies of his son’s best friend, and Carter is such a naughty boy… oh, it’s delicious!
When we catch up with Dave and Carter two years later in Lost and Found, things have started to get real. Carter wants more and Dave’s falling apart. I had no idea how the authors were going to make this work. Trust me, stick it out because the ride is amazing.
Without going into details and spoiling the story, I’ll just say everything changes as Dave starts to unravel. I absolutely love how deep into his psyche Quin and Perin take us, how intimately they explore his reasonings and his emotions. Dave’s journey is artfully done and surpasses anything I could have dreamed up for this man.
Not only is Lost and Found a great Daddy/boy romance, it’s an excellent love story. The imagery the authors use to describe some of the most ordinary things took my breath away; and the amazing dirty talk and awesome phone sex scenes almost steal the show. Lost and Found is beautifully written, and one heck of a great read!
The authors said it themselves... Dave was not a good Daddy lol. And on a not so funny note he hit Carter and played with his feelings.Carter on the other hand was so amazing. I loved him so much🥰🥰🥰. Miscommunication conflict is my least favorite so I was over this book before it really started. It was definitely an erotica. I had to edit this review a little because I remembered Dave had hit Carter and couldn’t just say the sex made it better.
Oh.my.freaking.god... this.. this high speed rollercoaster cracked and pulverized my heart totally. I freaking cried my eyes out.
It started perfect... a beautiful, secret, hot kinky Daddy/boy relationship. Dave had lust full eyes for Carter, his son’s best friend. Carter, sweet horny and playful boy... he only had eyes for Dave. With a gap of twenty years Dave wants to be a perfect Daddy... and nothing more... he can’t.... just can’t be more. Carter wants more...
Omg oh my heart... it cracked more than once. Beside a lot of sexy hot and horny encounters there is much more... I loved Carter period...best boy ever, exactly what Daddy desired... vice versa... Dave was what Carter loved, wanted and needed. (may I smack Dave ?)
Wonderful, high speed fast paced, written story. I adored both men. Lovable in a way you want to squeeze them hard and kiss them all over. Feelings all over the floor, it will make you speechless, it will make you horny, it will make you cry, it will crack your heart and it will make you delirious. Anyway... it did all this to me!! My greedy heart wanted more.more.more
Carter is 19, half the age of Dave, and is best friends with Dave's son. They begin a secret daddy/boy relationship when Carter comes onto Dave. We get a quick summary of the first year, the second year, and then go on from there. Although Dave and Carter are first introduced in another story, it's not necessary to have read that one to understand this one.
Being that this is a novella, it's understandably hard to fit so much story and flesh out the relationship. But I think that trying to build a relationship that spans so many years when we only get the POV of one character, it's hard to know what the other is feeling and give validity to emotions and the overall relationship. Dave gives Carter structure in his daily life and tries to be a good Daddy. Keyword - tries. Because Dave, I'm sorry to say, is NOT a good Daddy, in my opinion.
This features a couple of things I'm not a fan of - And the Big Misunderstanding. Also, NOT a fan of, at all. There are plenty of other things you can do to have conflict, not stupid Big Misunderstandings.
I also found the structure of the story odd. There's the entire "how it all began" at the end of the story, that is about Dave and Carter's first time together. Why not just have that as part of the narrative? And there's a link to a story about their families finding out about the two of them - again, why not just have that in the book, and make that your epilogue?
Plenty of people seem to like this story - at the time of me writing this, over 50% are 5 star ratings. I just don't know if maybe these people don't know what a good Daddy should be, or they just don't have qualms about the two things I have major issues with. I'd say that if those things bug you too, you might not want to read this story. This is the first book I have read from Quin & Perin, and I'm sorry to say that I wasn't exactly blown away by the story.
I received an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.
Mmm. Decent daddy kink is hard to find. This was quite good. What a nice surprise. I liked this duo’s Black far better, but no big complaints with this one either.
I love Quin and Perin to bits. I read about Carter and Dave on Take It All, and was excited to start this one. I can't say I loved Dave, because, him being a not very good Daddy for Carter, irritated me. Big time. I cannot blame Carter that he did what he did for the gap time. I blamed Dave. Where were he when Carter needed him? He can just running away like that? Not acceptable. And I hated him (passionately) for what he did to Carter earlier , Though the authors claimed that this is an erotic story, there's a hell out of a story inside. I am glad that they're finally getting back together (Carter did the effort. Pfft!), but I need to see Dave treating Carter better, because Carter is a sweetheart. The last 25% mark was like a downhill for me. But, this book written very well, that's the plus point. So, yeah, not a five stars this time :(
I am so unbelievably tired of people in relationships in books always jumping to conclusions (maybe let your partner talk before you're being super dramatic. please) and/or doing something because "it's for the best" when it's clearly hurting both of them. SO TIRED
This is a continuation of The One with Daddy, included in Take it All. It’s not necessary to have read that first, though.
When Carter is having trouble adulting at school, Dave agrees to be a long distance Daddy. Through phone calls and emails, and occasional visits, he helps him maintain a schedule, teaches him to cook.
Feelings develop, but Dave is afraid of the consequences. Will he be strong enough to continue the relationship?
Overall I liked this. It was light on the sex, but I liked the focus on their developing relationship. This was told in Dave’s POV, except for the epilogue, and while he was a good narrator, I wish there was more of Carter’s POV.
Also, although I could understand Dave’s reasoning for holding back, I didn’t like some of his choices, therefore I rated this lower.
3.5* I loved the daddy/boy aspect in this story. It wasn't OTT with pascifiers and diapers... No, I'm not kink shaming, it's just not my bag. I do love the "structure" it brings and the "submission".. but Carter is a fiery little shit, so he brings a lot of playfulness to the story. I loved the chemistry between Dave and Carter and I think that's the only thing that saved this story for me. There is one event that normally would have me DNF on the spot, but for some reason, I just felt like that wasn't the real Dave and that it wouldn't happen again and I wanted to see where it all would go. The back and forth gave me whiplash, and I actually felt very emotional for Carter, but again, I felt invested in these characters and needed to see their end, and I wasn't disappointed.
Make sure to read the little dinner party story afterwards as well, it really fills in a few blanks.
Some good moments but Dave is not a good Daddy. Carter tries but is a bit of a doormat. There's a huge misunderstanding ...urgh! And a whole slew of relationship building that's glossed over in this short novella.
My expectations for this book were pretty high after reading Take it All which was pretty darn hot--sizzling, in fact. But the rest of the book didn't deliver.
I liked both characters, Carter more than Dave. But I understand Dave's behavior was driven by fear. So much fear that he allowed the best thing in his life, Carter, to be pushed away. Their dynamic was really great, though.
The last segment -- five years later -- was too unrealistic for my grounded mentality, so basically, as the book progressed, my enjoyment and my rating dropped.
2.5 - halfway there... an easy read but somewhat frustrating ! I guess this is what happens in a novella, you miss the depth that adds detail and emotion to the story. An easy read, with a newbie Daddy and a whiny boy !
Dave and Carter's story starts out with one hot, intimate encounter where Dave finds out just how much he likes his son's best friend, Carter, calling him daddy. As Carter is leaving for college Dave expects it to be a one-time thing. However, he also didn't expect himself to become fascinated with the idea of daddy kink. When Carter suddenly sends a message asking for a repeat there's no way he can turn it down. He wants to be Carter's Daddy. Even though the boy is only 19 years old and his son's best friend.
They agree to keep it hidden and time passes. What started out as simple lust has turned complicated, leaving behind broken hearts and confusion. Dave's afraid he'll loose everything and pressured he lashes out at Carter. His denial so strong because he can't afford to have feelings for the much younger boy who wants Dave to love him.
I love how flawed the characters are, how they learn the hard way to grow and become brave enough to take the chance of being together. They felt alive and well thought out. I don't have to like what they do or say as long as the foundation for understanding them is there. Besides if they always did what I wanted, where would the fun be in that?
Lost & Found is written in first person which had me a little curious this time, because I normally avoid first person narration if I can, unless the blurb is very captivating. However, if all first person narration was done this well then I wouldn't mind reading it at all. There's a level of detail and depth in the writing that isn't often achieved in the first person narration of the books that I have read so far. Of course some has been good, but these two authors just have a certain edge in their writing that I really like and they certainly kept it up here. They also avoid the whole telling-me-over-coffee story as I call it - I think it's more difficult to show rather than tell in first person narrative, at least it seems to be. So, yes for me, they aced the first person narration. I also liked how we only got Dave's point of view until the end when Carter also shared his. It became the icing on the cake. I like the uncertainty of not knowing both characters' thoughts about one another.
There was one thing that confused me though, which was the timeline, what happened when, but then I understood that the story wasn't written to include all of their interactions from the moment they started their thing. I guess one could say it catches the most important moments and bundle them into something hot and emotional. This was definitely an emotional ride. Different from earlier works, yes, but nonetheless very good and I enjoyed what they did here.
I love how the writing draws me in and makes me feel for the characters.
Advanced Review Galley copy of Lost & Found provided by the authors in exchange of an honest review. This review will be cross-posted at Gay Book Reviews.
Ugh, I hate adding a three-star review after all of the fives. I loved the premise of this one, and I feel like the bones were there, but it didn't feel fully fleshed out to me. I didn't see Carter & Dave together enough to feel invested in their relationship, so I didn't feel their pain like I might have otherwise.
As I've come to expect with Q&P, this was well-written and well-edited.
Oh, I freaking love the continuation of this short story from Quin Perin's "Take it All." Thank you for giving us more of these men!! I was so enthralled by Carter, the younger guy who (quite frankly) seemed to really have his shit together, while older guy Dave flounders through conflicting agendas and feelings. The sex is HOT HOT HOT, but there's definitely turmoil. With such a large age gap between them, will Dave and Carter find the courage to truly be together, or will the world's expectations get in the way? An entertaining, quick read full of scorching sex, strong emotion, and characters I just adore!
This was WAY more angsty than I expected. I even teared up. Dave is a HUGE ass and I was not happy with his behavior in this book. I should cool down before writing this review probably.
The epilogue saves this book as well as the bonus scene at the end. Otherwise is just sad and heartbreaking.
I had so many mixed feeling while reading this book that IT took me some time to write this review.
Dave and Carter start hot and heavy, a steamy encounter that leads to some scorching and great sex. Some buttons are hit, some kinks discovered and they end up having a hell of a good time. But then... Real life, and nothing is so bright as it seems.
At first, I couldn't help to think that despite all the good intentions, Dave was a little coward, he didn’t even tried to listen to Carter, he hid because of fear, basically. Sure, he was thinking obly about his boy, and my first reaction was “there are better ways to do it then like this!”
But then, It hit me. I was expecting the daddy figure to be de wise one, the person who leads his boy to the great path of life, protecting against everything and everyone, supporting at all times. In here, we have a new discovery, a new dinamic, and with it many fears that never existed, that basically led to so many mistakes and errors. And to an ultimate desilusion. It’s the real life aspect of things: no one’s born knowing everything; sometimes you have to screw up big time to learn your lesson; and It takes a lot a courage to stand and go for what you want. And that’s one of the many many things I love about Quin and Perin’s books: the real life not so perfect characters, with many flaws and mistakes on the road, all that is some pretty passionate and smutty scenes. The whole daddy/boy interaction was really hot, from the beggining tho the very last line As for the bonus chapter on Quin&Perin's secret dungeon (and be sure to read it): LOVE. LOVE LOVE!!!!!!
Without much spoilers, I'm glad for the way the story followed its course - even when I wanted to punch and suck Dave and Carter sometimes! And that bittersweet feeling in the end totally won me over.
This is my first book by Quin Perin but it won't be the last. I love reading books with a daddy kink theme and this was one of the better ones that I've read. I can't wait to read more books by this author. I think I'll read the one with the kitty kink theme next. I read this book using the Kindle Unlimited program.
I loved this book so much that I kind of hated it. Lol. What I mean by that is…
The premise and the trope and everything about this book and how it was written were amazingly good, completely fascinating and I loved it all. I didn’t set this book down from start to finish. The interactions and physical connection between the two men were ridiculously off the charts hot and dirty in the best possible way. But I totally hated how the misunderstanding between the two men made them miss so much time together. “Daddy Dave” is such stubborn, pigheaded moron for the majority of this book and has no clue how to compromise in a (non)relationship… And he almost deserves for Carter to leave him and move on with someone else. Such wasted time over literally nothing. That part drove me nuts to the point I was yelling at Dave through my kindle, wishing I could smack some sense into him.
I loved Carter, he is so strong and the fact that he was consistently going after what he wanted with no hesitations even though Dave totally treated him and made him feel like crap at times. I wonder how though, Dave’s son seriously had zero clue that the two of them were seeing each other for years?! Especially at the beginning of the book when it’s mentioned that Carter and Cody are so close, like brothers, how does their relationship not get out?!?
I really hope that Cody gets a book too, even though we didn’t really meet him in this one. I know this author collaboration has a few other books out already, and being so enthralled with this one I am intrigued to find out what they’ve got going on for those storylines too, I’m going to have to find a way to squeeze in reading those books too.

I really enjoyed this novella about Dave and Carter. I was actually surprised how it explored their feelings and emotions and less about the sexuality of their relationship-- a departure from all Quin Perin's previous works I've read. The father/son, daddy/boy, or 'daddy kink' is still taboo in our culture but not as much in the gay culture itself.
I totally understand exploring Dave's societal fears regarding the relationship with Carter but I think it would have benefited from a long treatment instead of a quick resolve. Clearly, they both had/have feelings that go beyond the sex. I wanted Dave to come to a clearer acceptance of it, under the direction the plot took in this short book.
I did find Dave hitting Carter disturbing. I'm not sure it's forgivable but Carter forgives; rather quickly (though time has past) in what felt a little too easy.
With a story this short, I think I would have preferred the focus of the story to stay on Dave and Carter's intense sexual need for one another. Still, I applaud Quin Perin for 'branching out' a bit from their normal style.
Will there be a sequel? Since we've already gone into the 'real world' aspect, I think we definitely need to hear/read/see Dave have a conversation with his son about Carter. Maybe we'll get several more installments that will make the Dave and Carter story 'complete' and that will work together as a full length novel. That would be my hope.
I read about the start of Dave & Carter's connection in the Take it All collection, and that left me woefully unprepared for all the big feels in this book! Why am I even still surprised by how these authors can wreak havoc on their characters' hearts (in the very best way), and by extension those of the readers?!
This story was so unexpectedly moving! And super intense, in perfect Quin Perin style! Dave is so in denial of his feelings. Like a child playing hide and seek by closing his hands over his eyes, he seems to think he can stop himself from falling in love simply by willing it so and pretending lust is the only thing Carter and he share between them. If you only repeat it enough times Dave, then it must come true... NOT. Dave and Carter don't have it easy, and there were several times when things looked very bleak for their relationship. Mostly because of Dave, not exactly a man in touch with his feelings, and no stranger to errors in judgment, however well intended he is. But perhaps they needed that rocky road to better appreciate what they found in each other. And to make it all the more satisfying when they finally get their happy ending.
I loved how this story was written, the pacing and build-up with the occasional flashback, the wording... Everything.
This is a Quin & Perin story, so the passion is also most certainly there and the dirty talk is off the charts. Bonus points!
I loved the glimpses we got of Charlie, can't wait to see more of him!
*4.5 Stars* Quinn and Perin have delivered an interesting novella that kept me engaged. It wasn’t nearly as erotic as I had thought it would be, especially in response to their beginning statement. However, it does deliver on an unexpected emotional plot that really resonated.
The character development was well done for a novella. I appreciated that the authors made sure characters had flaws. It’s told only from one POV but that actually worked. It kept the tension high and the authors were still able to convey the chemistry between the two main characters. There is one spot of violence that while I felt the authors handled it well enough, I feel could have been addressed better. The world building was solid. It was possible to imagine the scenes and pulled me in.
The storyline itself really sold me. I would have preferred it to be a full-length novel as I feel the authors could do so much with this story. However, the fact it was able to draw an emotional response really made it shine.
There were a couple things I felt could have been done better. One is while I appreciated the explanation of Daddy kink; it did become a little repetitive. I deducted half a star for the repetition.
I love Quin and Perin I’ve yet to find a story that I don’t like. Maybe sometimes I don’t like their MC’s at the beginning but they have a way of transforming them. Dave for example.
We first met Dave in Take it all. Where he and Carther first began their naughty relationship. Carther is brilliant at acting but when it comes to getting his life together not so much. That’s where Dave comes in. He needs a Daddy to tell him what to do when to eat sleep etc. Plus their chemistry is off the wall. But when Dave has a wobbly is he really ready to be a good daddy or can he admit he was wrong and be a strong supportive Daddy.
But things don’t always run smoothly. This story is spammed over five years and shows the good with the bad happy with sad and in true Quin and Perin style some hot sexy moments. I really enjoyed the added ending it didn’t need it but I can see why it was added as a bonus rather than part of the story...
Another story by Quinn & Perin this time with additional endings to keep all readers happy. The writing duo knows how to pen a stimulating and satisfying story. This one is a Daddy m/m story with Carter being Dave's son's friend. While Carter is away at college, he finds he is out of sorts and needs Daddy's discipline... "Thousands of stars surged behind my eyelids, invading my vision until the intensity of my orgasm melted away and my muscles went lax." "I yearned for moments like this. To nourish him, make sure he took care of himself with I couldn't." "Their lust-filled eyes met; Dave felt paralyzed." These stories are the perfect length for this reader; the writing is first class and the books are hard to put down.
Dave and Carter's story starts in a previous book "Take It All". Lost and Found continues their story past the initial steamy hookup and takes us on an emotional and kink filled rollercoaster of a journey. We get a May/December, son's best Friend romance mixed with a good dose of Daddy kink. It is not a romance without angst... there are moments you want to smack a certain character and tell them to stop being such a dumb@ss. Carter is such a sweet boy but his Daddy needs to step up a bit. Yet, their story ducks upu in and makes you keep reading... craving more, needing to see what happens. Like other Quin & Perin Books, this one is well written and a perfect quick read to feed your need for kink and a dash of romance.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
When I first read the short with Carter and Dave (Take It All) I knew I needed more. Like a lot more. Thankfully Quin Perin like to deliver to their readers, and deliver they did! Holy hotness Daddy! Everyone should have a Daddy like Dave, but until they do they can read about it. I loved Carter and Dave’s Daddy/Boy dynamic. While different, it certainly didn’t take away from the intensity of their relationship. Intense is a really great way to describe it and heartfelt. It takes a lot to get me to cry and it legit got very semi ugly cry over here. This was a great story and I devoured it. Now that I think back in it, I could certainly do with more. Like maybe a short down the road.... please?
