I was his weakness. He was my strength. Until I destroyed him.

I was infatuated with Shane Wilder since the first time I saw him surfing. But we couldn’t be together. Not yet, anyway. I was too young and screwed up. He was too focused on chasing his dream.

So we became friends. We met on the rooftop for late-night confessions under the stars. Cruised along the Pacific Coast Highway with the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces.

I took photos of all the beautiful and ugly and interesting things, while he traveled the world in search of the perfect waves.

I told him I would wait for him.
I never meant to lie.
I never meant to ruin his life.

I. Destroyed. Him.

As his star faded, mine burned bright. But as everyone knows, all that glitters is not gold.

Now I’m back after seven long years, hoping for a chance to right my wrongs and fix what I’ve broken. This time I can only hope that loving Shane Wilder will be enough to save him.

5 WILDEST Stars!

... An excruciating tale of never-ending love.

This is my first book by this author and it is such a very great start! Angsty, frustrating, heartwrenching — this book literally made me miserable to blissful in my 15 hours of reading! Such a great book, I can't tell you guys enough.

Note: This is a second chance, age gap, sports romance.

The story was about Shane and Remy. Shane, 21 years old, was a professional surfer who travels and competes all-around the world. On the other hand, Remy, 16 years old, was a photographer, no permanent address, and lived an impoverished life. They became friends then. They met every morning in the beach to surf and to capture every beautiful moments they had together.

“That’s your new goal in life. Create some happy memories.”
“I already have,” she said softly. “Years from now, my stories will all have happy endings.”

**May contain spoilers**

This happy moments of them came to an end when Tristan, son of Shane's employer and the most influential man in their town, blackmailed Remy to have sex with her. Tristan had known that Shane and Remy had been intimate together and used this information to threaten Shane's career. Because they've done something illegal.

Of course, because Remy didn't want to ruin Shane's career, she ... obviously. Remy then broke up with Shane telling him she slept with another man. Weeks later, Shane heard the real reason why she broke up with him and he confronted Tristan. Tristan was accidentally killed and Shane was sent to prison for 6 years.

“No matter what happens to me, you go on with your life. Promise me you’ll do all the things you dreamed about, Remy.”

Funny how fate changed them. Shane, after 6 years, was freed. He worked as a construction worker (because his an ex-con, he couldn't find better jobs that would hire him) to support his dad who has a brain tumor. While, Remy was a supermodel. When Remy heard of Shane's release, she quitted modeling and went back to Costa del Rey, California, the setting, to help him and repair their relationship.

“I don’t know how to fix us or make things right,” she said.
“Some things can’t be fixed. Sometimes you have to start over.”

This book is heaven and hell. I didn't expect this to be so terrific. Thanks for Emery Rose, she is a great author. From now on, books by her would always be added to my tbr pile.

Overall, if you love to cry, read this. If you love to laugh, read this. If you love a hero and heroine who are capable of making you throw your e-reader, read this. And if you absolutely love a happy ending, you better read this!

"I’ve spent a decade loving Shane and I hope I get to spend many more decades loving him. Someday we’ll get to tell our children the story of Shane and Remy and it will be an epic story with a happy ending."

I’m not sure how to rate this one. On a whole, this is a truly sweet romance that had it not been for the stupid & overused trope of cheating that is on 99% of 2nd chance stories these days, it would have been a 5 star read for sure. As it is, the cheating which was so totally unnecessary BTW in this plot, ruined it for me and I couldn’t get past it. It’s a shame really because it was well written with likeable characters all around, a great & original plot and as I said, a sweet love story that gave me all the “feels” & tears to boot!

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

So the story is about Remi who in the beginning is 15/16 yrs old and Shane, a pro surfer (21). They meet and instantly have an attraction & deep connection. They develop a friendship in which Shane is Remy’s (and her twin brother, Dylan) protector. Remy you see comes from a dysfunctional home in which she has an uncaring & unsuitable mother and a skunk of a stepfather who makes her life miserable. She also has a bully at school. More on that later…..

As Shane & Remy get close, Shane tries to fight the attraction because he feels she is under age and wants to wait for her. They both know that they are each other’s soul mate and they are fated to be together. Shane & Remy finally give in and he takes her virginity (I think she was 17 or 18) but they keep it a secret so that Shane doesn’t get in trouble & ruin his career.

While Shane is on the road competing, Remy is accosted by a bully in school who threatens to call the police and ruin Shane’s career & life for having sex with a minor. He blackmails Remy into having sex and she gives in to save Shane.

When Shane returns, she feels dirty & ashamed, as well as guilty. She compares herself to her slutty mother, so she calls it quits with Shane and tells him while he was away, she had sex with another guy. (She doesn’t tell him the truth to protect him as Shane has a temper). Hurt, Shane goes away and days later she sees him on his bike with a blond making out. (We never learn if he had sex with the chick, but heroine & the reader assumes he did).

Shane finally overhears a private conversation of what happened to Remy and confronts her to tell him the truth. When she does, he goes ballistic and confronts the bully and during a fight with him, Shane knocks him down and the OM dies.

Shane is arrested and goes to jail for 6 yrs. In that time, he refuses to see or talk to Remy. He told her to get on with her life & forget him. Only she doesn’t. She writes letters and attempts to see him in jail but he refuses. Remy then becomes a super model and rich. She also moves to NY where she shacks up with a guy who is a rockstar. She & Bastian become BFFs only, though she did say that one night they were both drunk and almost had sex.

In the present, Shane gets released from jail and decides to not go home because of the bad memories. He moves to another town/state where he hooks up with his landlord’s granddaughter whom he described as being different then Remy, sweet & kind. She told him she loved him but he couldn’t return the favor because Remy was the only one he ever loved.

This part was so unnecessary. I could have forgiven heroine’s cheating somewhat because it came from a place where she thought she was protecting hero, but for Shane to have hooked up with OW after the first time they broke up and for him to go to yet another OW after he just got out of jail AND have a six month relationship with her, that was a hell-NO for me!

Anyway, Shane gets called back home because his Dad is seriously ill and he ends the relationship with OW. Remy finds out Shane is back home from her twin and quits her career and returns home to help Shane. Only Shane is bitter, angry and feels like a loser. Where before he was her protector & provider, now he has nothing. No career, no prospects, no money and a lot of debts. For the next couple of chapters, Shane acts like an asshole and doesn’t make things easy for Remy but she hangs in there and never gives up on him.

There were times that I wanted to punch Shane with the things he said & did to Remy, and just when I began to think of DNF’g, things turned around and the love between the two emerged and they were unstoppable.

There are things I loved about this story such as their deep bond & love which as a reader you can feel, but the cheating just plain ruined it for me. I wish authors would stop that because I don’t know anyone in my life who gets cheated on and feels its okay. For me, if a guy I cared about cheated on me with OW, then he would get his ass kicked so high & far that he would never see daylight again – much less for me take him back for any reason or excuse. This is how I feel for my fictional romances too. I do not want MCs with OP at all. If they can have sex with someone else, then there was nothing special about the Hero or heroine.

I remember reading a romance years ago in which the Hero cheated on the heroine. He was drunk, etc and was so remorseful, but heroine was not having it. She said “once you break a trust, there is no coming back from it. If you even THINK about having sex with someone, much less actually do the deed, then you never loved that person.” It didn’t matter how much he loved heroine or how sorry he was, she never forgave him until the very end when she found out the OW lied and they never had sex. In today’s romances however, cheating is so blasé as if it is nothing. Heroine in this story never confronted him about the OW in the bike and there was only a brief conversation about the OW he had a relationship after he got out of jail and that’s it. All forgotten.

BTW, other than heroine’s mention of her “almost” sex with her BFF/Roommate, there was no mention if she was with any OM during the separation. She said she was “busy”. She was also no doormat!

.“Remy St. Clair was not a doormat”

So while, I liked the relationship between the MCs when they were together, that OM/OW crap really ruined it for me. At least the author had the sex with OP off page and no intimate scenes with OP shown.

“We had almost slept together once in LA when we were both really drunk but thankfully, Bastian had passed out and it had never happened. Sex with Bastian would have ruined our friendship. Ruined me. For Bastian, sex was just physical. He was a hit and run kind of guy and saved his emotions for his music.

How many girls have you slept with in the past year?”

“One.” He held up his index finger and waved it in the air like a flag.
One. One girl who wasn’t me. I wasn’t expecting it to hurt as much as it did, but I should have known better. I’d always hated the idea of him with other girls. I hadn’t even planned to ask but now I was going down this path too. “Did you… do you love her?”

“I’ve only loved one girl. She was the siren and I was the sailor. We all know how that story ended.” Loving me had been a curse, not a blessing.

I was wearing a tank top and cotton harem pants with a batik print that I bought in Bali. I had pictured him there, surfing on the beaches and sitting in outdoor cafes, chatting with locals and surf bums. I’d visited temples and wondered if he still believed in reincarnation. Or if he still believed in anything at all. Those were the questions I wanted to ask him. I had spent seven years chasing the memory of us, and I hadn’t been able to move on with anyone else. Because he was always there. In my head. In my heart. In my dreams.

I didn’t know what had changed, but something inside me shifted. I’d been so selfish and so self-absorbed, only dwelling on my own problems and not thinking about how my actions and careless words have been affecting Remy. Sometimes it’s the people you love the most that you end up treating the worst. And I loved Remy. I had never stopped loving her. But I’d stopped believing that I was good enough for her.

“It reminds me of you. But I hope you weren’t sad for seven years. I never wanted that for you.” I turned my head to look at her. She was so sad and tragic and beautiful, like all her stories without happy endings. “I wanted you to be happy.”
“I know,” she whispered. “But the world was so cold and lonely without you.”
“Firefly. I’m here. Right beside you.”
“If I hadn’t come back, would you have looked for me?” She shook her head. “Don’t tell me. I already know the answer.”
“I thought I was doing the best thing for you. I thought you’d be happier without me.”
“That’s such a load of bullshit. I never took you for a coward.”
“I’m just being honest. My life has changed. Drastically. I have nothing to offer you anymore.”
“How can you even say that? You are enough, Shane. It doesn’t matter if you’re working a demolition job or you’re a pro surfer.”
“I have no money, no prospects, no future to offer you. I’ve got nothing.”
“You’re such an idiot. Is that what this has been about?” She threw her hands up in the air. “Is that why you’ve been treating me like shit? Because of money? All I’ve ever wanted was you. God, you’re so infuriating. I want to punch you.”

She’d always been a warrior. Strong and brave and true. She’d never given up on me even when there had been times I’d given up on myself.

Remy was right beside me just like she had been since the day my dad died. Before that, even. She wasn’t a quitter, and she hadn’t given up on me even when I’d given up on myself.

“You’re wrong. I’m with you for better or worse.” I cradled her face in my hands. “I won’t leave you because it gets too hard. Or because we sometimes say things that hurt each other. The past is behind us. We can’t fix it or change it. But we’re not going to let the past destroy our future.”

I should also mention that there is a side story/romance of the heroine’s Twin, Dylan who in this story has an on again/off again romance with heroine’s BFF for years! I believe the next book is about him but I won’t be reading because it seems Dylan has been in love with this woman for years but she has hidden him/relationship from her rich family (even though he is rich now) and at the end of the story, they break up, she gets engaged & he is so hurt that he gets into an accident and the OW’s younger sister (who I believe is the heroine for next book) rescues him. That’s sloppy seconds and not for me – especially as he has had this relationship with the OW for years and has been so in love with her!

Do I recommend? Depends on how you feel about the cheating aspect. If someone had mentioned it in the reviews, I would not have read it.

Emery Rose, where have you been all my life…? ❤
This is my first read by this author, but I'm sure it won't be the last! 👑

16-year-old Remy St. Clair is beautiful and smart but had a hard childhood that forced her to grow up too fast - but everything changes when she arrives with her mother and twin brother, Dylan to Costa del Rey in California and meets Shane. 🙏

📚 “𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒂 𝑳𝒊𝒔𝒂 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓.
𝑰 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒎. “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏?”
“𝑴𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔. 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒅-𝒘𝒐𝒏. 𝑰𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆.” 📚

21-year-old Shane Wilder is the town golden boy- a professional surfer with big dreams and a bright future... And he can't he stop thinking about Remy. ❤🌊
Despite their age differences they cannot deny their crazy attraction - But Shane is not ready to cross the boundaries, so they become friends. They fit so perfectly that it was only a matter of time before they surrender, and when they finally do - their love blossoms and they make plans for a future together... 😍
Until everything crashes and goes up in flames. 🔥🔥🔥

📚 "𝑰𝒏 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒌 𝒎𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚, 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒘𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒔𝒕." 📚

7 years later, the wheels has turned and Remy is a famous model and Shane has nothing to look forward to - but Remy returns to Costa del Rey to fix everything that was broken between them.
Will she succeed? Will they find the happy ending they deserve…? 💔

It's a story about forbidden love and second chances that made me feel all the emotions - it was romantic, sexy, full of angst, funny, heartbreaking and hopeful – just the way I like them! 👏

📚 "𝑴𝒚 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒔, 𝒊𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆, 𝒉𝒆𝒓." 📚

I loved the writer's images of the ocean, I loved the special plot and I especially loved that it wasn't another story where the rich man rescues the poor woman - because once Shane was the one to save her… and now Remy saves him… 🔥😍

📚 "𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒆… 𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒚 𝒐𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏." 📚

I'll have to say that the first half of the book was intriguing, hot, and very surprising - but the other half was a little dragged and felt too long for my liking, but it didn't made me enjoy the book any less.

So if you want to read a special love story that will conquer your heart, I highly recommend this book…! 💃🌊

I really should’ve stopped reading when I found out she was 16 and he was 21, but I didn’t and that’s on me.

This whole book gave me the ick but I couldn’t put it down. Remy is such a pick me girl and until the twist Shane was low key intolerable with his perfect hair and perfect abs and laid back surf bro 🤙 attitude.

Speaking of the twist, talk about d r a m a. I didn’t expect it. In part 2, after the twist and a six year time jump, Remy is, again, being her usual pick me self but now Shane is insufferable in an entirely different way. He kept trying to push her away and for what?! The fact she had money?! Give me a more unbelievable conflict. So yeah. I hate read this.

These are my personal opinions and this rating/review is not a negative reflection of the author or other readers who read and liked it. This book wasn’t for me, but I hope others are able to enjoy it.

Tropes
✨ taboo age gap
✨ small surfer town
✨ second chance (ish?)

PS. I read the synopsis for book 2, which is Remy’s brother. And it starts off with “I was 11 when I met him and he was 17.” CAN WE NOT. ELEVEN!!!!!!

“We’ll never say goodbye.”

5 stars!

Wow, what a read! Gritty, emotional, dramatic, beautiful, sexy and romantic with just the right amount of angst, a forbidden YA/NA romance and an absolutely gorgeous second-chance love story, this book had me feeling all the feels, and I freaking loved it!

I’m a big fan of this author, and this is the first book she has written away from her debut Beautiful series, and it’s a wonderfully engaging story, the first in a series of standalones, and I loved meeting this new bunch of characters and getting lost in their world. The book is written in dual POV and in two parts - then and now - letting us get up close and feeling the love story from the very beginning, before giving us a second-chance-romance. We experience it all with these characters, and I loved every moment of it.

Remy St Clair had a very difficult childhood. Constantly scraping for money and moving around with her flighty mother and twin brother, she is now 16 and has arrived in a coastal Californian town where she hopes they can finally put down some roots. Very quickly she meets and is smitten by local pro surfer, Shane Wilder. He is 21 and way out of her league with the world at his feet, but he is just as drawn to her as she is to him.

“You have a Mona Lisa smile,” he said a few minutes later.
I turned my head to look at him. “What does that mean?”
“Mysterious. Hard-won. It makes me want to do just about anything to see your smile.”
“I get the feeling you don’t usually have to work that hard.”
“I get the feeling you’re worth it.”

Their attraction blooms until he learns her age and firmly places her in the friend zone, and their blazing attraction is forcibly buried as they become friends. He shares his love of surfing with her, she shares her love of photography with him, they became each other’s confidants and the closest of friends as Remy shares the horrors of her life with him and he gets to see the reality of her difficult life, stepping in to help whenever he can, all the while trying to ignore everything that they feel for each other.

It was that fucking tragic. I had fallen for a girl who was too young for me. A girl who was tragic and beautiful and broken. She fucked with my head, got under my skin, and changed the tempo of my heartbeat.

Their situation is heartbreaking as they are unable to be together in the way they truly want. But they are so perfectly matched and Remy’s experiences have made her mature beyond her years. Their interactions are smart, funny, sweet, flirtatious and sizzling with want, and it’s only a matter of time before they give in to all of the chemistry brewing between them.

“Tell me a secret.”
“I’ve wanted to kiss you since the minute I saw you.”
“That’s not a secret.”
His lips curved into a smile. “No?”
“No. So obvious.”

Their fall for each other is absolute. Wildly in love and planning on a future together, they are on the verge of having it all when everything falls apart. It’s tragic and unfair, and my heart ached for them as they are both left shattered and alone.

Fast forward seven years later and Remy is now a hugely successful model and wealthy beyond her dreams, whereas Shane’s life hit rock bottom. He’s been through hell, and she wasn’t able to be there for him, but now she’s coming back for him, hoping to fix all that happened between them and find a way to get the happy ending they both so desperately deserve.

I LOVE a second chance romance, and this one was so, so good! I could feel the excitement, the pain, the hurt and the anger, the love, the lust, the chemistry that is still so strong, and the overwhelming longing that these two have for each other. There is so much that they need to work through, and they run through all of those emotions as they deal with the changes in their lives and find their way back to each other. I was captivated and loved how realistic it all felt. Extreme, yes, but so well written, and so very beautiful.

Remy and Shane are such fantastic characters – both strong and determined, they go through so much and their journeys are a wild rollercoaster. I love them individually, and even more together, their love for each other shining in every encounter.

“The world was so cold and lonely without you.”
“Firefly. I’m here. Right beside you.”

There’s also a wonderful cast of side characters. Remy’s brother, Dylan is a mysteriously complex character, and his relationship with Remy was truly special. Shane’s friends are great, and his father is an absolute scene stealer. I’m really excited to read more about these characters as the series go on, and can only assume that Dylan’s book will be next. Through the whole book I was guessing where his story was going to go and I was nervous, but the ending gave us a glimpse of what could be coming and if I’m right, I am so freaking excited for his story!

This book is raw and gritty in places, but it has a wonderful feeling of hope, finding your place in the world and finding the right people to walk that path with you. It’s an absolutely beautiful love story with an epilogue that left my heart happy with a massive grin on my face.

A fantastic read. 5 stars!

This book is written in 2 parts so I'll rate it in two parts:

Part 1 - Two stars. The FMC is underage. Hated the age gap (16-21) The plot is driven by miscommunication/non-communication. To top it all off, the MMC commits statutory rape and I think the author intended for us to find this scene romantic, but it's not.

Part 2 - Four stars. We skip forward 6 years. Everyone is of legal age this time. The storyline gets much better. The characters communicate much better. Everything in this part was good, I wish the story just started here and I could forget the whole part 1.

and fyi: This book wasn't necessarily fade to black but the sex scenes were so vague and brief it was unsatisfying (I mean it was unsatisfying in part 2, part 1 should not have had a sex scene at all)

3 stars overall.

Just no. all other issues aside what does this book in is that the hero gets out of prison and gets into a SIX MONTH relationship with another woman, while the heroine waited the entire time for him, without so much as having sex one time. She doesn’t have to be confined behind bars for 6 years to ensure it either. The worst part of this is that I can’t understand why the author put it in, it added nothing to the story. It just took away the possibility of believing he cared about the heroine as much as she does him. This was a first time author read for me, probably the last.

“Do you know what a Siren is in Greek mythology?”
“Tell me.”
“A Siren is an enchantress who lures the sailor with her voice…”

***4,5 "Firefly & You're my ocean!!!" stars***

"Do you know what a Siren is in Greek mythology?"
"Tell me."
"A siren is an enchantress who lures the sailor with her voice..."
"And what happens to the sailor?"
"He shipwrecks on the rocky coast."
"I'll never sing for you, Sailor. I don't want to destroy you. I just want to love you."
"I was destroyed the first time I ever saw your face, Firefly."

This story is from this kind of stories that you can characterize as hidden gems in an endless sea of romance stories...
It was a heartbreakingly beautiful and raw story full of passion, love, regrets, mistakes and forgiveness...
I loved this story very much and it grabbed me from the first moment...
Emery Rose knows how to deliver a captivating story with beautiful characters full of flaws that will stay with you after the last page of this book!!!

"Hope is a dangerous thing. It makes you wish for things you can't have."

Remy was a girl that had nothing, except of her twin brother, Dylan...
Her only escape was photography and to keep her head down until she can get her life in her own hands... In a grey sky, Shane came like sunshine to brighten her life...
Shane was a guy with big dreams....
An easygoing guy with the ocean as his lover until Remy stepped into his world...
From that moment, a strange full of tension friendship started between them, a friendship that turned out to be so much more, until tragedy hit them and separated them for good...
Both their skies darkened and they became dull and with no vibrant colors...

"The ocean was my home. Surfing was my religion. I felt it in my soul."

"Let's never say goodbye, okay?"
Neither of us could make that kind of promise but I made it anyway.
"We'll never say goodbye."

After seven years, Remy is coming back to claim in a way everything that both she and Shane had lost and with only weapon her love to bring him back to life... Into her life...
Both of them were broken and exhausted.... Exhausted from a life that they didn't have each other, but unfortunately, they weren't the same persons that they used to be...
Is there really anything salvageable between them???

"All I was to him now was a painful remimder of everything he'd lost. He wasn't the Shane I'd known so many years ago and I was no longer the same Remy.
It hurt too much."

"There was a big difference between living and just surviving. I used to know how to live. I used to be pretty damn good at it."

"I thought you were worth fighting for. Were you, Remy? Tell me. Were you worth fighting for?"
When had Shane learned to be so cruel?
That was the thing about ocean. It was wild and unpredictable. It could be dangerous, showing no mercy. Shane once told me that it was a mistake to turn your back on ocean. The thing you love most could destroy you. And Shane... he was still my ocean."

I loved both Remy and Shane very much...
Their connection were instant from the very first moment, but unfortunately in the beginning they had different matters to fight, things as an age gap and then something bad happened that break them apart....
Now, after so much wasting time, they will try to put their pieces back together... Not only as couples, but as persons as well!!!
To be totally honest with you, my heart was breaking for them... It was so unfair for these two to be apart and to be broken without each other....

"He was sunshine on a rainy day. Summertime in December. And I was the stupid girl foolish enough to fall in love with him."

"She was a wildcard, this girl, with her ocean eyes and heartbreaking smile. But still, I wanted her. Every broken piece of her."

"He would do anything for me and I would do anything for him."

Phew!!! Honestly, i don't know what more to say to you about this story...
From the blurb, i had realized that something bad will happen, but honestly, i wasn't expecting this turn of events, even though i had made many assumptions...
These two were so beautiful characters apart, but together they were so sweet and right...
They didn't deserve all this pain!!!

"My greatest weakness was, is, and always would be, her."

"Being around her again was hard. Being without her was harder.
But then nothing about me and Remy had ever been easy."

Before i close my review, i would like to be reffering in two other characters in here that manage to crawl inside my heart...
The first person was Shane's father, Jimmy. This man was such a wonderful man full of life and beautiful words and i won't lie to you that he made me cry very much at one point...
The second person is of course, Dylan, Remy's twin brother...
This broody, broken and angry boy who turned out to be a wonderful man with few words had win my heart over and i can not wait to dive in his own book... He deserves happiness....
He was also a man that made me cry at some point in here, and i adored how these twins were between them... I loved how they stick together no matter what....

"Dylan St. Clair was a puzzle wrapped in an enigma."

"If it's meant to be, you'll find your way back to each other."
"Do you really believe that's possible? Even if.. you hurt someone so badly they'll never forgive you?"
"I didn't say how long it would take. I just said you'll find your way back."
{Jimmy to Remy}

I loved this! Shane & Remy, two people who belong together and love eachother but for some reason can't be together. My favorite kind of read so I was immediately hooked from the beginning. At first, the issue was because of their age, she was 16 when they first met but it progressed from there. Remy was so broken and it was so sweet to see Shane try and fix her. Then, after what happened with Shane, it was like their roles reversed. In the end, a beautiful story about 2 people that just simply loved eachother.

I loved Jimmy and shed some tears for him and Dylan is definitely someone I'm excited to read about in book 2 since he was such a mystery.

Too much other people drama, and of course the hero gets a genuine romantic relationship with sex, the heroine gets a best friend she cant sleep with, and one other time she gets blackmailed into having sex. Why cant heroine just have sex for enjoyment? Why does there always have to be some crazy plot twist or reasoning that takes the enjoyment out of sex for her? I'm tired

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read a couple of other books by this author and thought they were great but I think I enjoyed Wilder Love even more. It made me cry at one point and to have actual tears run down my cheeks is rather unusual.

Remy St Clair is our heroine and even though she’s only 16 when the book opens, she and Dylan, her twin brother have had it rough so far in their young lives. With no father in the picture and their mother – well – a tramp who will hit on any guy with legs much to the embarrassment of Remy and Dylan, they have moved around from town to town. They have ended up in Costa del Rey and right away Remy felt an affinity with this town on the coast. And when Remy meets Shane Wilder, a local up and coming surfer, she develops intense feeling for him right away, as he does for her. But at 22 when he finds out she’s only 16, he friend zones her because of the age difference, but because of her upbringing, Remy in much older in spirit and pursues something deeper than friendship with Shane. As his feelings are just as deep he eventually gives in and they share a deep and abiding love and begin making plans for when she turns 18. But life has a way of messing with plans and something really bad happens to separate these two young lovers.

Part 2 opens 6 years later. Remy has moved on with her life and become a very successful super model but she gives it all up when she learns that Shane is back in Costa Del Rey. She travels there where Dylan still lives, determined to rekindle her relationship with Shane. She feels like she is the one who destroys his life and while her life has ascended as well as Dylan’s, Shane’s went in the opposite direction. Once on a path straight for Worlds Best Surfer, that plan is in ashes and he is full of anger and bitterness at how his life turned out. When Remy approaches him, he rebuffs her at every turn. While years ago she didn’t feel she was good enough for Shane, now things are upside down, she the successful and he doesn’t feel good enough for her any longer.

But the bond between these two is very strong and the second part is them trying to find their way back to what they once had.

There’s no question this is a five star book for me. It’s full of angst and pain and longing and love and as mentioned times of great sadness. I love both of them and the author does such a wonderful character development for the both of them. From the very beginning, Shane will do anything to help and protect Remy and keep her safe, no matter what. This makes him very appealing as a hero. And Remy in return will sacrifice anything, do anything to protect Shane, even if it means she’s the one hurt. And because of this love and dedication and putting her own self aside for him, I really like Remy too. The way they are written re reader really believes they are meant to be.

And one thing I want to mention. A lot of times when reading, you just know there are more books coming in the series with secondary characters and depending, I look forward to them or not. But with this book, I REALLY want Dylan’s story. While he’s a secondary, being Remy’s twin brother, his character as written is so tormented and vivid and I SO want more of him that I’ll be getting his book, fingers crossed there is one, the very day it comes out.

I strongly recommend this book. While tough reading at times, it’s tough for a good reason and if you like emotional books with great characters then you will be taking my advice and getting this one 

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This book was bloody brilliant. Just wow. This is such an emotionally raw story. I loved it so much! It was the perfect mix of romance, drama, tragedy, and forgiveness. I was glued to these pages like they might disappear if I didn't keep reading. The writing style was beautiful. Very informative but with an easy flow. The author is able to pack a punch with a few words.

These characters are everything. They make the wheels on this story turn. Both main characters are so full of depth. They are both such realistic characters, which I love. They are full of flaws, strengths, and love. I was able to connect to both main characters fairly easily. I really felt for them both. It's hard not to with this heartbreaking yet heartwarming story. The secondary characters were amazing. I fell so in love with Dylan and I can't wait to read his story. The love between the two main characters is almost tangible. It is intense and immediate. A connection that is undeniable. You definitely feel for these characters with all that they go through in the story. First, there is the age difference and then all the drama that keeps them apart for so long. It will pull your heartstrings.

Overall, this story blew me away. This is a story that will break you apart and put you back together again. I fell in love with these complex characters are their gritty love story. This book easily filled a little spot in my heart and I hope it can do the same for you! I definitely recommend this and I can't wait to read more from this author!

I’ve had my eye on this series for ages thanks to the stunning covers. Maybe the prettiest I’d ever seen. But as the saying goes you can’t always judge a book by its cover… or can you?

While the cover drew me in the blurb did not. I like my romance dark, forbidden and/or funny. This offered none of that (even though it implies it’s an age gap. 5 years doesn’t make an age gap) but I took a chance anyways and I never looked back.

This is the rollercoaster of all rollercoaster romances. These two lovebirds climbed over the highest mountains and swam through the deepest oceans and it still wasn’t enough. But I loved every heart wrenching minute of it.

Not only were Remy and Shane perfect, the supporting cast of characters were phenomenal. From Shane’s dad Jimmy, to Remy’s twin Dylan and so many more. The relationship chemistry was simply magical. And I absolutely loved hating the twin’s mom, what a horrid woman.

I can’t wait to sink my teeth into Dylan and Scarlett’s story.

2/5⭐️

Remy grew up in the school of hard knocks, her life has not been easy and she had to grow up faster than any child should. Shane knows heartbreak having experienced it at a young age but has a father who is a much a friend as a father. Shane and Remy bond over their love of the ocean but just as the ocean changes with the tide so does their relationship and let me tell you sometimes those waves are so big and wash over you and you are sure you will drown but that’s when Emery Rose throws you a life jacket. This story broke my heart....more than once....but Emery Rose was able to put the pieces back together. Emery Rose has such an uncanny ability to paint a picture with her words so that I feel like I’m watching a movie instead of reading a book. I developed such feelings for Remy and Shane it was difficult to watch them go through all the things they went through to find their happy ending which I think speaks to the writers strength of character development. All of the imagery of the ocean in this book left me needing a vacation to put my toes in the water, sit in the sand and watch the surfers at sunrise. Grab this one....along with a screen protector for your kindle and a box of Kleenex. :)

Oh. Dear. God. Talk about a different type of story from the other series! This author is clearly more than a one trick pony. I loved her Beautiful series, but I think that Shane and Remy have stolen my heart. They had a flash in the pan romance that was destroyed by anger and accidental tragedy, and if Shane could have his way, that would’ve been the end of it. But he didn’t count on Remy. He didn’t count on her tenacity, her “I’m not a doormat” attitude, or her insistence that she needed to be the person to make things right for him, for her, for them. There was a LOT of angst, a lot of push and pull, a lot of me wanting to beat my head against a wall and yell, and definitely some tears. Shane and Remy definitely had a difficult road to travel, but everything they survived so that they could LIVE was so worth the pain and struggle. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Emery Rose.

"Ben senin mutlu olmanı istedim."
"Biliyorum," diye fısıldadı. "Ama dünya sensiz çok soğuk ve yalnızdı."
"Ateşböceği. Ben buradayım. Yanındayım."
.
"Onları daha önce okumadığım için özür dilerim. Seni özledim. Seni düşündüm. Her gün. Her saat. Sen hep benimleydin. Ve senden hiç nefret etmedim, Remy. Asla edemezdim. Kendimden nefret ettim. Seni terk ettiğim için. Birlikte sahip olabileceğimiz geleceği mahvettiğim için." Başparmaklarıyla yanaklarımdan süzülen yaşları sildi. "Affet beni."
"Shane, affedilecek bir şey yok." Ellerimi bileklerine doladım.
"Günü gününe yaşayalım mı?"
"Tamam," diye fısldadım.
.
"Çok sık veda etmek zorunda kalırdım. Kelimelerle ifade edilemeyecek kadar üzücü."
"Gün doğumunu kaçırmak gibi."
"Ya da okyanusu."
"Ya da gülümsemeni."
"Ya da kocaman kalbini. Sanırım sana âşık olduğum an seni ilk gördüğümdeydi; soluk mavi bir tişört ve mavi desenli siyah sörf şortu giyiyordun. Çıplak ayaklıydın, altın sarısı bir bronzluğun vardı, saçların dağınıktı."
.
🌊Yaş farkı
🌊Yasak aşk
🌊Plot twist
🌊Kasaba

Shane'i de Remy'i de ayrı ayrı sevdim.

I really debated till the end how to rate this because at times it felt like a solid five stars, the story freaking good and well thought out but then some parts left me bitter and craving more...more development, more explanations.
I loved the book, I loved the characters but not even the angst whore in me could fully digest *that* cliffhanger from the past [yeah...again...bitter af].
But anyways I’m so glad I found this author and I can’t wait to start Dylan’s book right away...she’s gonna serve me the ex-girlfriend’s little sister trope and i’m already shaking 📈

ps: Dylan’s already my little cinnamon apple chocolate chip sugar plum pumpkin baby cakes 😭
a serve through and though
