Earth is Hiring: The New way to live, lead, earn and give for millennials and anyone who gives a sh*t

Rate this book
Is ‘hustle and grind’ really the message of The New Way? Is financial freedom really what it’s about? is ‘living life on our terms’ really the summit of this mission? Is The New Way about becoming more successful than our generations before us? This book is a conversation about The New Way to Live, Lead, Earn, and Give. It is a collection of insights and ideas about how we can, and how we are, changing the world. It’s an invitation to the New Superheroes―the people all over the world who give a sh*t about each other and our earth―to lighten up in our work as Game Changers. It’s a time stamp so that our kids and their kids can read it and say, “oh, so that’s what you were growing through back then...” The New Way is not just about having more money at the end of the month. Success as we’d been taught isn’t sufficient. Success to our generation looked and felt completely different to what it looked and felt like to generations before us. We millennials do not thrive off gains in a capitalist society. The religious separation that our parents’ generation know is torturing our hearts. Our planet isn’t a place for us to holiday, but a place of permanent residence with the requirement that we nurture and love our Mother Earth as our one collective mother. There is no ’top’ when it comes to leadership, but instead we’re all about the power of tribe. We don’t care to move forward at lightning speed, but would rather to stop and go back to our indigenous roots and ensure that ancient wisdoms are never forgotten. Taking care of our brothers and sisters who are without basic necessities is the only way we all win. Play is everything. We’re here to change the world, but we’ve gotta stop taking it so seriously. We’re here to use our talents and abilities to create epic sh*t, but we’ve gotta stop missing the point along the way. It’s time for us to thrive like no generation before us ever has. It’s time for us to show the world how good it’s really meant to be. This book is for the millennial conscious leaders and entrepreneurs- those ushering in the new paradigm through their work, art, businesses, leadership. "This message is a massage. It will change your cells. Its chief channeler PK kneads it masterfully into your body's tissue with her wonderful way with words. After reading it, all of a sudden I found that my deepest doubts and fears were disintegrating. I have been hired by Earth; it all makes sense now! This piece is such an important piece of history in the evolution of humanity." ―Marc-John Brown. Serial Entrepreneur/Humanity Frother/Voice for the indigenous “Earth Is Hiring is the most important book of the time for conscious entrepreneurs and our generation. It resonates with my soul so deeply....I cried, laughed, and vibe'd as high as you’d expect when reading what feels like a channeled message from Mother Earth herself. Earth Is Hiring was exactly was the exact reminder that I needed.”―Makenzie Marzluff "Book is brilliant Peta. In awe of your power with words and energy- very inspiring- thanks so much for sharing it with me xx."―My Mum (cos she's my fav) "I just finished the money story chapter! WOW!!!!! The energy is strong! nothing like any other books Ive read before! Your nailed that chapter with SOOO much clarity and I feel so touched by your words in the book. It needs to be out there. I have a handful of people I know that needed this clarity in their life to move forward and you just have this unique way to put into words that moved, me."―Chanutra Plaa

I wanted to like this book but its just not good. The research is shaky. The writing is below average. And the message is self-congratulatory.

This book changed my life, I know that's a huge statement, but it was the missing link in shifting my money mindset and aligning with my vision. Read it. We all need PK's message.

So, I will say right off the bat that I am not a millennial as I was born in 1980, and this book is definitely targeted to the millennial crowd. But it is NOT just for millennials! This book was a gift from my sister, and it definitely spoke to me as a mother of a young son. The old ways of leading, earning, learning are no longer working, and Peta's vision is a breath of fresh air! Her ideas around connecting to Source/God, unkinking your hose, writing a script to rewrite your story... I had to put the book down several times to process everything happen inside my heart and head. WOW is all I can say! What I would give to hear Peta speak in person, or better yet, take my sister to see her. If you are looking for a book to push you, inspire you, challenge you, surprise you- pick this book up. You won't regret it.

I tried. Got through the first couple chapters but it reads like one of those (too) long Instagram influencer captions. The author also cops to making her initial cool millions in MLMs; sketchy. Also, did this book have an editor at all? Major proofing/spelling/grammar errors within the first few pages, yikes. Maybe that’s not important to some people, but makes me question the material.

Kelly is a true enlightened human, but not someone who is so preachy that you feel like you need to change yourself drastically to get on her level and live your best life. Instead, she is raw, honest, and most of all, PLAYFUL, which really sets this book apart from any other book like it. I like the free flow organization within the schema of 4 main themes, with the momentum of the book growing as you read. I wish everyone would read this book, so we could all learn to raise our vibrations together and enter into our true alignments. So glad I found this, it really helped me, and I can’t wait to gift it to some friends soon.

I tried this as an audiobook. And you know what? It wasn’t for me. I’m a millennial and I couldn’t stand the “millennials are genetically different, that god gave us this mission and a different genetic code to change the world” viewpoint. Call me old fashioned or whatever, but trying to shove that religious-like favoritism down my throat made me want to gag. Alongside the heavy push for getting into multi-level marketing to make money (“as it’s the only way”), becoming an Instagram model and influencer and all that BS. I don’t buy that crap for one second. So this definitely was NOT my cup of tea ☕️ promptly returned it to the library thank god.

A bit too much of a hippie millennial thought for my tastes resulting in WAY too many f-bombs dropped by the author. Her sarcasm does certainly have value as it’s making her good money. She refers often to the “divine intolerance” of millennial which is interesting. She also talks a lot about her using/promoting unconditionally compassionate leadership. While she says “leadership”, to me it sounds more like how to manage one’s social media as I believe true leadership is motivating those who work for you to achieve missions (we have different perspectives). Regardless, it was an interesting read although I don’t believe each generation is born with any agenda or purpose that is better than others. One interesting line was “Failure is like a caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly.” Cool.

“There’s nothing new under the sun” is a verse from the Bible and it’s true for this book. PK takes quality lessons of wisdom from various religions, spiritual practices and commonsense and bundles them all into a handbook for living. There’s nothing new or revelatory about her writing. In fact the lessons about money sound exactly the same as what abundance preachers in churches were talking about 20 years ago BUT it’s true and it works!

A lot of the vernacular didn’t appeal to me and that’s okay because the purpose of this book is to appeal to younger people than I am. I still drew a lot of good lessons from the writing though and enjoyed it. It’s a good read and overview of all ancient philosophy and simple living combined with modern methods of communicating about what is truly important in this lifetime.

A lot of good information here for someone who could benefit from it, but after reading this I feel like I wasn't the intended audience for it. I went into this thinking it was about taking care of planet earth, maybe about global warming, recycling, I don't know, but while it brought up stuff like that, it was more about learning to make money, start a business, lead your team, just things that, like I said, are very informative and beneficial, but they just weren't what I thought I was going to read about. Moral of the story: read the synopsis before you commit.

“Millennial” is typically spouted as an insult these days, but this book turned the stereotype around, and gave new insight into the strengths the generation brings to the workforce. A unique take on entrepreneurship and cultivating a meaningful career, Earth is Hiring is a must-read for any millennial or person who works with us.

I liked this book, there were some concepts that were helpful and I generally think it was good information to get out there. There were parts where I wish the author went into racial/poverty nuances more. I know she is Australian and the racial dynamics are different there than in the US, but I think I would have been less distracted from the message if she set the stage on important topics, made it clear she's done some training around the way the concepts affect different races/groups of people differently.

It had some good quotes and notes But this did not say ONE THING about how to actually help in getting a job. Just a bunch of “you can do it”. It was also more of a biography on how she thinks the whole work mentality is. Not at all what I thought the book was going to be about so just super disappointed.

I definitely judged the book by it's cover.

I really wanted to finish reading this book, but post 50% it was terrible and painstaking for me to keep going. Things that were disturbing about the book:

1. It was narcist. The author kept talking all praises about herself! I thought it was like a joke in the beginning, but she was serious. It was all about her perfect life and how she studied so well and was good at sports and wanted to pursue a PhD. I mean it was too self-congratulatory.

2. No. Millennials were not god-sent and whatever that she was talking about. Divine-tolerance. We are just a generation who knew both sides of the coin since technology boomed when we were late teens, tweens. So it has nothing to do with the purpose of life or saving the world or anything.

3. Contradictory concepts. Suddenly she goes like we should change the world, open the tap, unkink the hose and make a revolution then in the immediate next chapter she goes about 'Compassionate leadership', understand what others are thinking, they are doing their best. I'm like ???

4. Too many swear words. Maybe her "tribe" would like it, but so not me. There are waaaay too many swear words and made-up words that make you cringe a lot more than necessary.

5. It was absolute torture reading the entrepreneurship chapters cause she's like you are your own boss, then invisible boss, then work-life balance, then the universe chose you to do something, then you gotta work all the hours, your ideas need to be penned down. Oh and what was that Chief Breathing Officer????? And some Chief Vibration something. No thank you.

6. The Pop-outs were the worst. Extended Instagram captions. Wonder who reads such things anymore.

7. The author was very very confused as to what needs to make it to the book and put in everything and anything under the sun. Too lengthy and too cringe.

I hate writing bad reviews but i was SO disappointed with this book. This has been on my To-reads for years and I wish it had stayed that way.

Ps: I'm an millennial and I don't want to "unkink" my hose. Ewwww.

*intention 4/5 stars // execution & language 3/5 stars.*

The premise and goal of this book is golden, however much of the language is cheeky and there’s a hierarchal perspective on “our vibration”. The intention and heart of it all is caring despite my qualms. It’s aware in many ways, but then also uses appropriative words like “tribe”…

Yet i’m rating it a 4 because i still think it can help people more than hurt so long as they maintain autonomy and continue learning beyond this book about core systemic issues as well.

I sort of knew this book would be a more watered down version of environmental spiritual activism, but I wanted to read it anyways just to see. While it felt less grounded in traditional wisdom paths than I’d like, I trust this book will still benefit those at different stages in their journeys. There is still a lot of wisdom woven in, and it’s helpful in many ways.

I think there can also be more nuance and in-betweens considered, especially in the realms of privilege. There’s much repetitive mentions of buying organic as an example of saving the world, yet not one mention of food sovereignty and growing your own food…

I do think that on top of the energetic and personal and business focus, this could also speak more on policy and actions towards existing corps and orgs that need to not just be bypassed.

I’d like a bit less talk about vibration and more speak on embodiment and senses, mental and nervous system health - at least to balance out the abundance of vibration/energetic focus.

I liked the book, felt connection with many of the things said in the book about bettering the world and ourselves.
The self congratulatory part that many of the reviewers didn't like is real but I think is kinda justified because she has achieved so much so young.
BUT I got the audiobook version and what was really tiresome is that she pushed the buying of the physical/ebook version way too many times and even in some parts she straight up said the book has more detail stuff on this or that I'm just going to do a part here... I was like if you can't do an audiobook then just don't do it... I got audiobooks that I really love and bought the physical one but I got zero motivation to get this one because of that.
I truly get it she is proud of the work she did with the book but if you commit to an audiobook version then do what all the others do if you have some parts that need to be seen just attach a PDF and that's it because we paid for the book.

Yes this was kind of a rant because it was a first for me with this kind of situation, and that's the 3 stars, if this didn't happened it would have been 4 stars for the book.

Massive disappointment. The blurb sounded so promising but this book was incredibly grating. After well over an hour of the audiobook where the author had done basically nothing but emphasise how smart and wealthy she is (having become a millionaire in her 20s through a diet supplements MLM), and gush about Millenials being "genetically gifted by God" with traits that no previous generation has had (showing a remarkable lack of understanding of genetics for someone who won't stop mentioning that she almost did a PhD in science), I almost gave up, but was too curious about the gushing reviews (and hopeful that there may actually be some interesting and inspiring content), so pushed through. Unfortunately, the book was 90% rubbish, with personal anecdotes and gushy letters to her unborn child that make her seem extremely irritating, talk of "raising your vibration" and manifesting money, and claims that amazing business ideas etc. are entities that choose humans to deliver them (the wand chooses the wizard, Harry...). There was a serious lack of any actual practical advice on how to make a positive difference for the planet and other people through your career and life.

DNFd at like 3/4 of the way through. I’m a hippie, vegan, millennial, minimalist, yet this somehow was too much for me. I agreed with most of the things in the book and I’m pretty spiritual and thank the universe when I can but I can’t see this book convincing people who aren’t already all in to new age living; at least the people I know.

I think there is some of this book that basically says you don’t need to follow any regulated rules set up by society but sometimes that’s not possible. Sometimes you can’t quit a job you hate because that’s the only way to put food on the table. I think for certain people this could be disheartening to read when they’re not in the position to believe or have the ability to change their situation. And I do think there are people who can’t, I’m not delusional to think things can change just through sheer will and manifestation. I think luck and privilege have a lot to do with it. And I’ve been on both sides.

Idk this was a weird read for me. It felt like it was written for me but after actually starting it I wasn’t so convinced. Oh well.

I had no idea what this book was about when I came across it. I was looking for an audio book and for some reason this popped up. Little did I know it was exactly what I needed to read at this moment in time (thanks universe). Such a fantastic read that is seriously life changing. I have read a lot of personal development but this book is by far the best one I’ve ever come across. Peta’s relaxed and authentic style of writing is so easy to read, full of aha moments, practical advice and her own story. I absolutely loved everything about this book and couldn’t recommend it more highly. As I borrowed this as an audiobook from my library I will definitely be ordering my own copy to refer back to and also get a couple for gifts for friends who need to hear this message. Do yourself a favour and read this!

i started this book in november 2019 and just now finished it in april 2020 ahah so you can see how much this book intrigued me. i mean its hard to judge its a self-help(ish) book, it has a great vibe and ideas but when i read these i just don't feel inspired or like I can change or do much change. i hope one day i do become someone on a "higher vibration".
this book was gifted to me with the best of intentions. but ill have to read a lot of fiction and historical and other novels for a while.

I really enjoyed this book! I gave it four stars because some of the ideas are pretty out there and I didn’t resonate with them at all. But, this book really helped me to figure out what things and habits in my life that I align with and which ones I don’t. It showed me that my actions are so much bigger than myself and as long as I’m acting in a way and making choices about what feels right to me, then I’m doing exactly what I should be doing. There is also a GREAT section about healing your relationship with money. It was one of my favourite parts of the whole book.

Fabulous inspiring book that makes you look at the world with a modern perspective. And it makes you get up and do things to better your life, even just small things that can make an impact on the world.

I found the begining a bit annoying only because I'm not in the 'millennial' age range and the references to being a millennial are frequent. Once I got over that I loved it. So much so that I have it in audio and hardback so I can. Refer back to it easily.

This book had me captivated from the beginning! It was clear, relatable and SO what I needed! I borrowed it from my local library but will be buying my own copy VERY soon! A MUST read for anyone who may be feeling like the 9-5 isn't for them, or for those that truly just want to give and make the world a better place!

4.5 Stars. I really enjoyed this read. I will say, I am no stranger to the "new" spiritual kind of book. I will also say that PK offered some new and amazing ways to think, strategize and reframe our lives, businesses and stories. As usually happens, this book came to me just as I wanted to get more in tune with living a more natural life in sync with Mother Earth. Blessed!
