“Would you like an adventure now, or should we have our tea first?” -Alice in Wonderland
Cynthia Luhrs spends her time out on the deck, looking out over the mountains, imagining what if. She writes women’s fiction, time travel romance, contemporary romance, family sagas, paranormal romance, and thrillers. Readers say her books (well not the thrillers, those are gritty) are light-hearted reads to escape reality. She lives in the mountains of North Carolina, has always been a reader, and is overly fond of sparkly flip flops and pretty pens. Though now that she lives in the mountains she’s going to have to find fabulous boots, mittens, and hats!
Loved this one as much as the rest in this series! Millie & Drake found each other again at last & all is right with the world! These books are like comfort food to me & I highly recommend this whole collection! Thanks to Cynthia for this copy!
Mildred, this is where the Merriweather soul-mates and time travel truly began!
I always wondered why Mildred was always such a Southport, now I know it was because of what she had lost, her own time traveler! It was a blow to the head that created a loss and found but it would have been pride and false assumptions that would have thrown away a great love! Dare I hope that the next time traveler would be the adopted grandbaby, Chloe?
Mildred "Millie" Merriweather is no stranger to tragedy. Millie finds herself in a unique situation to giving a hand to a young woman named Karen down on her luck. Millie finds satisfaction in making new changes to her life since her sister and nieces passing. Millie hides a secret pain no one is aware of and she's not talking about it either. Drake Gregory can't remember his past but he has dreams of a woman with hair like sunshine and silver eyes. Drake isn't very happy in his current life but doesn't know how to change it either. Yet when an accident at work returns Drake memories of his past and the woman he loves. This event sets a chain reaction of decisions for the future of Drake and Millie's lives. Will Drake get a second chance? Can Millie trust Drake? How does Millie help Karen? Your answers await you in Time After Time.
I love this series! The characters and story were complex, complicated, mysterious, unique, rich, bold, honest, intriguing, passionate, and fierce. There was a hint of more from this series. I can't wait to find out.
** I received a copy of this book from the author for free in exchange for an honest review.**
'Time After Time' was an awesome addition to a fantastic series. I loved Mildred's story. It gave me a look into her as a person and why she is the way she is. Karen added to the story with the way she came into Mildred's life. They both seemed to have needed each other and their friendship only blossomed into a beautiful relationship. Drake was put in one hell of a position as he tried to rekindle a fire that he thought had fizzled out. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.
I should begin by saying I received this book pre-publication as a result of winning a drawing on the authors website. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have read all the other books in the Merriweather Sisters series and this book adds more to those stories. I LOVE time travel books, which this is "sort of," so it was right up my alley.
This is an OK time-travel romance, featuring the Merriweather sisters' Aunt Mildred, and the time-traveling knight (from the 1300's) she falls for. It is actually a 2nd prequel to the entire series, but you don't have to read it first. For those who like clean romances, with no sex scenes, this series is perfect for you. It has kisses, but no sex scenes at all.
I have liked all the books so far in this series. I liked this one, too, but I found it hard to like Mildred. She was so closed off and often mean to her sisters and her nieces. I get that it was because of what happened to her when she was young (no spoilers here, though) -- but that was no excuse to treat her family so badly. I did like how she finally opened up to Karen after losing her sisters and her nieces, but it bothered me that she spent so many years treating her family badly.
I liked Drake a lot, and thought his story was sad. What he endured was difficult, but he managed to still be a good person anyway. I was glad when he and Mildred finally found their HEA.
I also thought it was unbelievable that all of the Merriweather women would meet their loves through time-travel -- I get that time-travel is a fantasy anyway, but for all of them to just happen to meet men from the 1300's? I didn't buy it.
This book gets 3 stars from me. It would have gotten more if Mildred had not taken her pain out on her family.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I have read all previous Novels in the series, sorry my internet has played up so have to go back and tell my review. These Novels are all so fabulous, this one was no different. To wed her Knight and not see him again for forty years, wow what a great imagination the author has. To bring together two people in the 60’s is so inspirational I have dust in my eyes. Not knowing what your own future is scary enough, to read of others through the imagination of an author is heartwarming. It brings hope to all that they too regardless of age, will one day meet their own Knight. I have loved each one of these novels, each with its own individuality, love and fantasies. Now on to book 11. Enjoy the journey of dear Old Mildred and Drake from 1334.
It began with parallel current lives of two people who loved each other very much but were separated by unfortunate circumstances. Near the middle they come together after forty years and a lot of changes in their lives, including the addition of an orphaned young woman into Milli's barren life. This is the only book in the series that I have read, and there were a lot of disconnects for me. It definitely does not stand alone, but it does make me want to go back for the others! I won an ebook copy in a Goodreads Giveaway.
Wow, Sir Drake Gregory as a Vegas Power Boss with memory loss from medieval England? Meets little Millie Merriweather only to TUP her and forget her? Yikes!!! Let the drama ensue! And whose eyes keep popping up in hospitals? Are references to crazy utterances of characters we may have seen in past stories, hmmm???
I really liked this book. The characters were very well written. When the author takes the time to get you into the skin of Drake and Mildred, you want to follow them in their journey. i want to read other books in this series. Time will tell!
I loved the story line - anything with time travel is one of my enjoyments for reading. I didn't read the first book in the book group so I may have to go back and read the first book and the others.
Wow! If you love romance time travel novels this series is fabulous! I was really sad when I finished the last one today. I wanted more!!! Read in order!! Part are considered the Knights Through Time and part are the Merriweather sisters series. I recommend you read book .5 in the Sisters then read the 10 in the Knights list which are repeated inn the Sisters series to get the books in the best chronological order. So very good!!
