Hail Raisers #3

Burn in Hail

Rate this book
One look at the sixteen-year-old, prim and proper town goody-two-shoes, Hennessy Hanes, and Tate Casey knows he’s in trouble. He knows he should stay away from the preacher’s daughter, but there’s something about her he’s drawn to, and he can’t resist the pull. The more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that something isn’t right. He may not be able put his finger on what it is, but he’s determined to find out what’s going on with the girl with the haunted eyes. Tate didn’t anticipate that someone else would be just as determined to keep Hennessy’s nightmare a secret, and he never realizes just how far that person is willing go to keep those skeletons in the closet until it’s too late. With the very real threat of jail time hanging over his head, Tate leaves without a backwards glance at the town or the girl. The problem is that out-of-sight doesn’t necessarily mean out of mind, and it’s Tate who’s now haunted by his decision and memories of Hennessy. *** Hennessy Hanes knows better than anyone not everything is always as it appears to be. After years of being on the receiving end of her squeaky-clean preacher father’s abuse, she seizes an opportunity to leave it all behind and runs. Her only regret is that in walking away she loses any chance with the one person who tried to save her. *** Fast forward ten years, and they’re both back where they started. Tate was never a good boy, and it turns out that the man he’s now grown into isn’t all that much better. Anger is a living, breathing part of him, and there’s a court order forcing him to seek help from the one person he’s never forgotten. Hennessy never thought she’d see Tate Casey again, and certainly not on her couch. But now it’s her turn to save him, and there are rules she must follow as his psychologist, not to mention a court order instructing her to help him manage his anger. If she doesn’t follow those rules, he’ll end up back in jail. Tate Casey has never been a man who followed the rules, and Hennessy is no longer the straight-laced, timid preacher’s daughter she once was. His hands may be tied, so it looks like for the first time in Hennessy’s life, she’ll be the one breaking the rules for the chance to finally get what she’s always wanted. Him.

I should change my name to minoroty.

With each passing book, this author's latest releases gets worse and worse.
Every time she releases a new book I tell myself that I won't buy it but like the damn sucker that I am I end up buying it and I end up hating the book.

Heroine has been pining after the hero since she was a teenager so it wasn't a freaking surprise that she was practically a virgin and that she only had sex once and she never had an orgasm before.

Hero has not been celibate after meeting the heroine, yes she was teenager and he was all man when they first met and surprise, surprise.. His f*ck buddy makes an appearance, a f*ck buddy that he always go back to no matter what.. And of course the heroine sees them together, she feels hurt and can't take her eyes off of them. Such of stupid little woman, instead of leaving she stays and kept throwing wounded looks to where they were.

I wanted someone nice. My dick was at the point where it no longer cared if they were nice, only if they had a warm, willing hole that I could stick it into.
Which was why I was toying with the possibility of taking Ariya home.
And very well might have done so had Hennessy not been there to let me know just how much I was craving her.

So if it wasn't for the heroine who was at the same restaurant as this two then he would have taken the OW home. Then the woman said some nasty sh*t to the hero about the heroine.

I tell you with each passing book the heroines get more weak and pathetic.
And let me tell you something it's not a f*ck buddy if he was actually loved the ow before. An ex girlfriend who's making everyone believe that her child is the hero's. The Ow who slept the heroine's father and had a baby with him. This was just stupid and unnecessary drama.

What happened to the author who wrote strong heroines? Heroines that had backbones? What about the heroes? The ones who never thought about hooking up with OW even after having feelings for their heroines ? If you're looking for those types of heroes and heroines... keep it moving because you're not going to find them here.

Let's not forget this is the 2nd book I've read today where the heroines acted unethical and both heroine were psychologists who had sex with their patients.

Everyone who follows me knows I adore Lani Lynn Vale’s books, and how absolutely addicted I am to them, and true to that the writing of Burn in Hail, was spot on, and enrapturing as per LLV usual, but this time, I’m so sad to say, I couldn’t get past the H attitude and behavior, in the past and present, when he himself confesses he always wanted her, but then dates non stop in from of her while she was hung up on him all the time, and he knew about it, and his excuse was not plausible either, which is one of my personal pet peeves. So yes, it’s a case of the male character destroying the believability of their love story.
Well, we can’t win them all, and I still enjoyed immensely all the side elements and characters and can’t wait for the rest of the Hail Raisers’ stories! December can’t come soon enough!

I can’t say enough about Lani Lynn Vale’s books! I love every one and they keep getting better. In the third book of the Hail Raisers series, Hennessy and Tate’s book is no different. This is your goody two shoes and bad boy dream read. Hennessy is the preachers daughter and has been held to a high standard in their town. Tate is from the wrong side of the tracks and has done time for being a Good Samaritan. He can’t help it the preacher hates him and the police department is corrupt, so he does his time. When he gets out he runs into Hennessy again and she is all grown up.
Now the fun begins! As per any Lani book, your gonna laugh, your gonna want to smack someone and your gonna want to bawl your eyes out. But at the end, you’ll have one great big smile because she knows how to make her endings special.

Some sweet some sour. What used to be an automatic buy for me, is now a wait and see. I’m on the fence with this series. Typically I love me a down and dirty man just released from prison smutfest. This one falls a little short from the mark for me. Tate Casey is a rough and tumble tow truck driver who seems to fit the bill for a sexy hero, just released from jail, 6’5” and deliciously bearded. However, you can’t just have a beard, you need to be a bearded boss man who knows how to swing that big beard and what’s between those treetrunk like thighs! Taaaaaaaate nooooooooo! He could claim the heroine and make my day! But does he? That’s a no. He dithers and dallys. Yes he does. He debates getting back with his former ex, who chronically cheated on him. I’m not sure why the men in these series have taken such a turn. They have become P =^..^=‘s.
The ex has a daughter who is dying- yes dying and she’s chasing down giant eggplant emoji’s. And speaking of things that don’t make sense? The girl that works at the supermarket Lark? She is living out of her car, and when it gets repossessed and it’s clear she has no other place to live, the heroine just hands her a garbage bag filled with all her stuff without asking if she needs a place to stay. Three people Help her bring the bag to the break room, not one asks if they can help her not Be homeless. Such a WTF moment. Horrible. And the heroine-she’s a THERAPIST(face palm.) We could ignore this, of the author didn’t insist on the goodness and kindness of small town folk and their inherit values throughout all the books; which all take place in small Texas towns. There is such a cluelessness that now exists within this book world. Don’t even get me started on the suicidal heroine a few books back who was left alone with a gun while deeply depressed after the death of her brother. These used to be such feel good books that made sense even in a romantic and fantastic book world.
Back to the Story, so the heroine therapist Hennessy, the daughter of the town preacher is named ...Hennessy. That’s just not in keeping with a preacher man who is spending his life trying to keep his daughter from sinning. He’s not a kind preacher. He’s not much of a godly preacher either. The preacher also shows up for every meeting Tate and Hennessy have- except the one where they finally get to business right there in the office, guess it’s gpod he didn’t show that day.
There is a real cringe worthy moment, maybe several where Tate can see up Hennessy’s skirt in the office tables reflection- but she also has patients all day long after him, including the one that seems “raped” and dreams about his therapists death. Oh god.
There is a brief side story with this schizophrenic patient, that somehow just screams danger, but the side story gets dropped. Abruptly. A fellow tow truck driver plants bugs in The preachers office- but we never hear anything from the bugs. Another dropped story line. Some bits and pieces about Reed Hail, as well as Bay, setting up the future books- but rather than set up the next books, it interrupts the flow of the current book.
There are several months between each book, I really hope someone takes the time to edit and organize them so they can make better sense. For the love of a beard please.

No way is this girl a psychologist!!
Sooooo unprofessional it's ridiculous

Also, if she knew her father slept with that woman then can't she throw that in his face whenever he gets on at her about the way she dresses??

You are a grown-ass woman!!

"It didn't matter that she was the notorious good girl, and I was the infamous bad boy."

If I wasn't already addicted to this series, this installment alone would have pulled me in. I can't resist a broken bad boy and Tate is one of the best kind. He uses the bad for good. The trouble he gets into is not something he would avoid if given the choice for a do-over. He doesn't regret the choice that landed him in jail, he'd do it again. But the courts think he needs anger management and when he gets a good look at his new psychologist, that's not all that needs management. Let's just say that he'd like to put both of his 'heads' in her hands. (wink-wink).

Hennessy is the local preacher's daughter. She's all grown up now, but tell that to her father. He's still trying to control her behavior. She's always tried to be a good girl, following the rules and not drawing attention to herself. But when Tate ends up on her couch, she wants him to notice her. Apparently, that hasn't changed in the last ten years, she felt the same way as a teenager.

As Tate & Hennessy spend time together they find that the attraction they once felt for each other is still present, and stronger than ever. But they also realize it would not be a good idea to allow their sparks to ignite. Well, good luck with that, right? They couldn't expect any help from me, I was busy hiding all the fire extinguishers and hoping for an explosion. I like it H-O-T!

Hennessy's father might be preaching fire and brimstone, but that didn't scare Tate. He'd already been through hell. Actually, he was still there, he worked at Hail. And sometimes he wasn't sure he'd make it out alive. His job was sometimes very dangerous, and he sometimes took some risks that could send him back to jail. But being a 'Hail Raiser' was something he was proud of. They were family and had each other's backs. Speaking of which, I can't wait to find out where the author will be taking some of the others. There is no shortage of danger and suspense in the lives of these badasses and I'm enjoying the hail out of getting to know them better. The line forms here...

Well I barely read the blurb for this one and I didn't care about the reviews I just jumped straight in and didn't put it down. Tate and Hennessy are absolutely my favourite couple so far.

I was excited to get to know Tate from the second he was mentioned in the first book. And throwing in the preacher's daughter who he had crushed on since they were kids made it even better. Everything about Tate was heartbreaking and perfect.

He was so determined to protect Hennessy from his reputation yet he couldn't stay away. And I loved the way he was so furious about everything Hennessy had gone through but he promised he wouldn't do anything so he put all of that upset into making sure she was safe and loved.

Hennessy was no slouch in the heroine department. She was afraid and scarred emotionally and physically but she wasn't a victim. She knew what she wanted and I liked that she didn't want it at any cost. When she didn't feel like she was going to get what she needed she was prepared to walk away. And I loved Tate even more for the fact he didn't play games he just laid it all out to her.

Absolutely adore a strong heroine and a protective alpha hero. This series just continues to get better.

Another amazing book by Lani Lynn Vale I'm seriously addicted to her books there full of lovable characters , story line that hooks you in , and give you the feels . Burn in hail can be read as a standalone though the hero is slightly mentioned in the first two books in the Hail Raisers series and if you are looking for some binge reading then this is an author you need to read from .Hennessy and Tate knew one another since they were little but never ran in the same circles he was the towns bad boy and she was the preachers daughter once they are brought together it's in a very unconventional way by her being his psychologist . I really loved Tate like many LLV heroes he's protective , funny , likes to get dirty "wink" and one hell of a silver tonged devil , his banter with Baylor is super hilarious so can't wait for his story What the Hail we got his first interaction with his leading lady in Go to hail and some in this one were he couldn't takes eyes off of Larks derriere . I really adore Hennessy the name itself just wow she grows a lot through out the story to were she isn't afraid of her veil father and becomes confident with her sexy outfits that drive the hero crazy so wanted to high five her when she put some people in their place . Every time I open my kindle I go major fan girl when I see a new one by the author lets just say my family knows when I get a LLV book . It's also cool to see the secondary characters and future couples especially Krisney and Reed just know their story is going to be a doozy of emotions and I always love a good second chance love that's what those two are going to be .

It was an ok book. the problem is:
when one of the main characters is a psychologist and the other one is her patient i expect that to be a little bit about their problem from their past and give some useful way to make it better! i don't know maybe some advice or some insight.
the funny thing is the patient was ok the troubled one was the psychologist :-|
she should've research about it and make it a little bit deeper.
I don't know maybe i'm just picky.

Burn in Hail, the title of Hennessy Hanes and Tate Casey’s story is an interesting one because despite Tate’s bad boy actions, neither Hennessy nor Tate deserve to suffer that horrendously…Hennessy has never done anything to hurt another soul and Tate’s devilish tasks were carried out due to extenuating circumstances, factors that meant there was no way he couldn’t step in and right an unjust act.

But the townspeople only see what they want to see, especially when it comes to their faith and the man who delivers them from sin, so in their mind, anyone who goes against the dictates of the church…anyone who doesn’t see Preacher Hanes for the gift of God that he is isn’t worth their time or their prayers, and boy is that message delivered time and time again to Tate Casey, and because Hennessy would rather worship Tate than her father’s lies, she is just as corrupt and unworthy as Tate.

The ‘preacher’s daughter’ and the ‘son of the town whore’ - those are the nicknames that continue to follow Hennessy and Tate, even as adults, and while crossing a professional line is not something that Hennessy ever thought she would do, Tate sets her free in ways that she never thought possible, giving her the courage to spread her wings a bit and expose her father’s heinous acts against her as well as his less than righteous thoughts and actions.

Lani Lynn Vale created one hell of an antagonist in Preacher Hanes; he is about as unrighteous as it comes, and I couldn’t wait for the day that he paid for his sins. The way he buffaloed the townspeople and his hypocritical acts against his daughter and Tate prove that Preacher Hanes needs to reap what he sows and when his deliverance comes, it’s beyond time for him to confess to every one of his deplorable acts and pay tenfold for his misdeeds.

Hennessy and Tate’s story was a bit different from the two previous ones in the series; it felt like the Preacher’s position in the text overshadowed the hero and heroine’s separate story lines quite a bit, and while I understood the power that Hennessy’s dad still seemed to wield over her and her involvement with Tate, I wanted Hennessy and Tate’s characters fleshed out a little more…I wanted to understand how and why Hennessy took the path she did and how she ended up as a psychologist back in the town she always wanted to flee when she was younger.

I definitely enjoyed Burn in Hail; Tate does a great job of taking Hennessy out of her comfort zone and proving to her that, as an adult, she doesn’t have to let her father dictate her life. I guess I just needed a bit more insight into who the hero and heroine are, how their feelings for one another started and grew despite their separation and why the town seemed to turn a blind eye to a Preacher’s sinful actions when it seems like what he does behind closed door is probably common knowledge.

GI make it no secret that this author is my favourite so obviously I loved this.
All of her books are pre-order for me however I was saving this book because I went in for my operation yesterday and I wanted something that I knew without a doubt I would read and love. Something that would make me laugh and take my mind off all the shit happening. This did that and more.

I loved Tate Casey with everything in me. He is very much the broody alpha asshole with a chip on his shoulder. He makes no excuses for the things he's done in his life if anything he takes ownership and feels no remorse.... personally I wouldn't either. He's flawed, imperfect and a normal human being. He had an ex whom at one point he loved but now is a convenience, company .. a willing body( that's for both of them not just him). Don't get me wrong I wasn't a fan of her and there is not any romance between them in this book but it is talked about, But I don't hate him for that! There are times in the story were he acts like a asshole I want to junkpunch but let's be honest that's a usual things for an alpha hero.. they fuck up we hate on them then we love them. I loved his protectiveness towards Hennessy he makes he feel love and wanted, shows her that's she's more than good enough and gives her a reason to fight. That's what made me love him. Well that and because he didn't try to be anyone but himself and obviously he was a hottie which helps.

Hennessy sweet Hennessy. Normally I'm all for a strong fiesty in your face heroine and Hennessy was definitely not that. However it is nice to have a change up in Lani's heroines. Hennessy was vulnerable and sweet and had been through awful traumatic things that would scar anyone. Through the story you learn that she's always had a crush on Tate and she's paid for that crush heavily. However when she finally gets her man you get to see her grow stronger as a character and stand up for herself. She was never going to be and in your face strong kind of heroine but she definitely was her own kind of strong. Has her own demons to battle and in the end grew and became a stronger women through that. I loved her quirky humour! She was super sweet and funny and definitely held her own when needed.

Their journey wasn't an easy one and they had some mountains to overcome. There chemistry was crazy on fire and I love that forbidden nature that came with their romance. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions ranging from being so angry that it hurt and crying till my eyes dried up. To being in fits of laughter and feeling so much happiness my heart would burst. This story isn't and easy pill to swallow but it's there and I loved learning about these characters. I loved the secondary characters both old and new and the sneak peaks in to the future to.. this author teases us to no ends with the endless possibilities.

Lani never fails to surprise me with her greatness. She write everything I love and more and even sometimes things that I never though I would like but end up loving. Once again she hits it out the ball park.

They say (whoever “they” are) that deep inside most women fantasize about being with a bad boy! One thing is for sure, most women love reading about them. Especially men like Tate: Bad on the outside, but oh so good and protective of what they call “theirs”.

The author has written an awesome story with characters you can’t help but love. Tate is the town’s bad boy from the wrong side of town who’s spent time prison. Hennessy is the preacher’s daughter who was always prim and proper and lived an idyllic life. However neither were the person people believed them to be.

Hennessy’s father, preacher or no, was not a good man and sadly Hennessy paid the price. She was never good enough for her father no matter what she did. As soon as she could she left for college and became a psychologist. That is how she ended up Tate’s therapist for his anger issues when he was released from prison. Well that, fate and a little inside help.

Tate and Hennessy on the outside are complete opposites. But on the inside - they are kindred spirits. Both have suffered for things out of their control, both have made the best of bad situations but best of all, at least for us readers, is the enormous attraction to each other that these two have felt since they were kids. And when they finally come face to face - holy hotness!!!

Some shocking and hard truths come out during Tate’s sessions with Hennessy. Can these two find a path to right past injustices or are they destined to suffer at the hands of others and their preconceived notions.2 Thumbs Up for a very well written book; one I Highly recommend.

Tate Casey is sentenced to seeing a shrink as part of his parole. Everyone who knows him knows he did the right thing but it didn't stop him from going to jail as an example to others. Seeing Hennessy Hanes though has Tate wanting to do all sorts of things to her, with her, and for her but Hennessey is the exact opposite of him and too good for him.

Hennessey knows that everyone thinks of her as the preacher's daughter but she is wanting to get away from the shadow of an over controlling father. Tate begins to realize there is more to the shadows that haunt Hennessey's eyes and he plans to protect her. He didn't expect to fall in love with her, nor did she plan on Tate but together they are invincible.

This one took me while to get in to. Interesting story and I ended up liking it but the connection between the two main characters took awhile to build up.

I liked this book was the purpose and background. There were more depths and also I got a bit more familiar with the characters and there weren't too new characters that would led me to confusion.
This book was about Tate the guy who shot the crazy ex-wife and also he was in jail with now a character that wasn't introduce in the previous book only just as preview. She is from Hostel and also a daughter of a preacher and the book started right where and reason of their meeting.
Why I enjoyed this one more than the previous ones is due to the fact that there weren't much drame left and right, it was quite straight and no game.

Received an ARC at no cost to publisher on behalf of Enticement Journey Book Promotions. Great great book. We have the town badboy, who really shouldn't be considered so in my opinion. Then we have the preachers daughter Hennesy, lucky girl. You have it all with this book..And you will love Tate..I loved it, but please read it and see what I am talking about, I could tell you a lot, but I am not going to write a story as a review, I leave that to author..but all I am saying is kudos to Lani!! Enjoy!

I received a copy of this book to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Burn in Hail is the third book in the Hail Raisers Series from Lani Lynn Vale. I have not read the previous two books in this series and started it with this book. This is tate and Hennessy's story.

On look at the sixteen year old prim and proper twon goody two shoes, Hennessy Hanes, and Tate Casey knows he is in trouble. He knows he should stay away from the preacher's daughter, but there is something about her he is drawn to, and he can't resist the pull. However, the more he gets to know her the more he realizes something isn't right. He is however determined to find out what is going on with the girl with haunted eyes. Tate though didn't anticipate that someone else would be just as determined to keep Hennessy's nightmare a secret, and he never realizes just how far that person is willing to go to keep those skeletons in the closet until it is to late. With the threat of jail time hanging over his head, Tate leaves without a backwards glance at the town or the girl. The problem is that out of sight doesn't necessarily mean out of mind, and it's Tate who is now haunted by his decision and memories of Hennessy.

Hennessy knows better than anyone not everything is always as it appears to be. After years of being on the receiving end of her squeaky clean preacher father's abuse, she seizes an opportunity to leave it all behind and runs. Her only regret is that in walking away she loses any chance with the one person who tried to save her. Fast forward ten years and they are both back where they started. Tate was never a good boy, and it turns out that the man he has now grown isn't all that much better. Anger is a living breathing part of him, and there is a court order forcing him to seek help from the one person he has never forgotten. Hennessy never thought she would see Tate Casey again, and certainly not on her couch. But, now it is her turn to save him and there are rules she must follow as his psychologist, not to mention a court order instructing her to help him manage his anger. If she doesn't follow those rules, he will end up back in jail. Tate however has never been a man who followed the rules and Hennessy is no longer the straight laced timid preacher's daughter she once was. His hands may be tied, so it looks like for the first time in Hennessy's life, she will be the one breaking the rules for the chance to finally get what she has always wanted. Him.

Oh my goodness this book in beyond amazing and I devoured it with my heart and soul. You are going to fall so in love with Tate. Oh my goodness I want a Tate of my very own. I must warn you too that he and Baylor have quiet the banter that will have you in stitches at times. However this book is also full of the feels all good romance stories should have. This is a second chance romance that in my book is a must read. It is also one that you need to just experience instead of me telling you all about it and ruining something for you. Just grab this book and enjoy every single second of it.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

I freaking loved this one

Hennessy Hanes has always had a crush on Tate Casey. But her father was the preacher of the town and he was way over freaking strict. And by strict like way way strict. She had a terrible ordeal living with her dad, abused but nobody took notice because he was the beloved preacher of the town. But eventually she got away, left to go to college and now she is back as a phycologist and guess who is her patient.

Tate Casey went to jail for doing something that anybody else would have done if they were in his shoes. 4years later he is out and he needs to go for anger management sessions. And the one women who he has always had a thing for is now his Dr. And Tate is promising himself that he won't touch her. The town will never understand them being together. The Bad Boy and the preacher's daughter.
But there is only so much a man can take and Hennessy is pushing him to his limit and now all bets were off and he was taking her.

I freaking loved this one. I think that Tate and Hennessy is my favorite couple so far in this series. Everything about this book was awesome, the story the characters the plot and the writing. I can't wait for the next one, this author is becoming one of my top favorite authors

Burn in Hail is the third book in the Hail Raisers series and follows Tate Casey and Hennessy Hanes.

Going into this book, I didn’t really remember a ton about Tate from the previous 2 books so I wasn’t really sure how this would go but I LOVED this book. Tate Casey is amazing!!

Tate Casey’s childhood was less than ideal. His mother didn’t want to be a mom and didn’t know how to be a mom. She wanted to do what she wanted, when she wanted, with whomever she wanted. Regardless of what her children needed. He knew of the pastor’s daughter. He also knew that she was too good for him and too young.

Hennessy Hanes grew up as the pastor’s daughter. With her mother not there, Hennessy grows up an only child in her father’s care. Try as she might, Hennessy never seems to succeed at making her father happy. She knew of the bad boy Tate Casey. She also knew the consequences of getting involved with someone like that.

Imagine the surprise for both when Tate shows up as a patient in Hennessy’s office.

Freshly released from prison, Tate Casey is taking mandatory anger management through Hennessy’s office. Older now but unable to act on the attraction and sexual tension between them, Tate and Hennessy begin getting to know each other again. Both learning things about their lives now and their pasts.

One click now to learn more about Tate and Hennessy! Tate is HOT and alpha and all things amazing and wonderful. Hennessy was a little whimpy for me at first but she definitely got better throughout the book. A must read!!

What is better than a story about the town’s bad boy and the preacher’s daughter? How about one that is filled with some emotional moments, suspense, a bit of rebellion on the good girl’s part and one that is also sexy, funny and another amazing addition to the Hail Raisers series. Burn In Hail is all of the things I mentioned and so much more.

This book at times wasn’t easy to read because of the things Hennessey has gone through, things that had me getting so upset that I wanted to jump inside my book and whoop some serious ass. She is not weak let me get that out first, what Hennessey is, is a survivor and someone becoming who they were always meant to be. I love how slowly the more she was around Tate the more she well let’s just say blossomed, and seeing that happen was not only emotional at times but also beautiful.

Tate is the bad boy, the one recently released from prison and once you find out everything well let’s just say I know I fell in love with him even more. He is at times rough around the edges, but he is also sexy as hell, sweet and exactly whom Hennessey needed in her life to bring out all that was buried deep. There is something about the bad boy falling for the most innocent of good girls that makes them so much sexier in my opinion. Also it must be said, Tate’s grandma she was amazing!

Burn In Hail will make you burn up alright, burn up with wanting one of these Hail Raisers as one of your own, and if Tate wasn’t already Hennessey’s I would want him as mine. Lani Lynn Vale has another check in the win column with Burn In Hail, I think this is one that needs to be on the top of TBR lists!

I liked it, but I definitely didn't love it.

There were too many things mentioned that didn't have anything to do with this story and I am assumed had to do with future stories, but that won't connect (E:the bugs in the office that the person no longer works in) A therapist doesn't try to do more for a person suddenly left homeless in front of them. A rescued dog with a "probably" ending (but a puppy shows up in the end!).

Loved Hennessey's name - found that to be unique. As a therapist, you would think she would recognize and seek help for some of her own issues. I just didn't care for these two as a couple. As mad as Tate got about Hennessey's past - he never really did anything about it and that is not the alpha I am used to seeing from LLV. I'm sure he could have come up with something that wouldn't have landed him in jail or broke his promise to Hennessey.

One thing that Lani always throws in her stories is something current or popular. In this case - shiplap! I find this to be something I am always looking for. My favorite is still the squatty potty!

This is the third book in this amazing series, and in my opinion, each book just seems to get better and better. Tate is the bad boy, who is attracted to Hennessy, the good girl preacher’s daughter. Due to circumstances Tate had to leave town, but now he is back. The chemistry between Tate and Hennessy is off the charts, and after years of suffering physical and mental abuse, all Hennessy needs if somebody to love her for herself. Can these two overcome their difficult pasts and be together? No spoilers; this is a must read for all readers, you will never be disappointed by this author.
Once again Lani has written a beautiful storyline, which is humorous, sexy, and a hot read. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and I cannot wait to read more in this awesome series! Amazing work Lani!!

This one is has a Romeo and Juliet feel to it. I liked that both Tate and Hennessey were aware of each other as teens and glad that Tate took the high road to not go near Hennessey when she was underage. After reading the book we know that had they tried to date as kids that would have been disastrous for them both. I loved that Hennessey was strong enough to withstand her father and all that he threw at her, loved that she was so sweet despite it all. I liked Tate’s moral standard. Did he do bad things, sure, but honestly they needed to be done. I was glad that these two found happiness and were able to expose evil where it was.

I don't know how but this series sucks me in more and more with each book written. This one was no different. Tate gets out of jail and is ordered to go to anger management where he finds Hennessey as his therapist. She was the girl that he always wondered about, but would never allow himself to be close too. Hennessey is the preachers daughter and she's always had a thing for Tate and she knows the moment he steps in office her life is going to be turned upside down.

This one started out strong - with one of my favorite tropes: good girl and bad boy. But then it quickly devolved. Tate was annoyingly commitment-phobic and all woe-is-me about not being good enough for Hennesy. Towards the end, too much time was spent on baby drama and not enough time on resolving the daddy drama.
