Daddy Issues

Rate this book
Good girls get cuddled. Bad girls get spanked... then cuddled. FIONA I never knew my father. I've never called anyone Daddy before. So... when I did it for the first time as a joke to Grey, my best friend's older brother, it was like all of a sudden something clicked. It was hot. It was right. It made me crave more. I may be an eighteen year old virgin with no real experience to speak of, but I've got quite the imagination... And I've read plenty of romance novels to know exactly what I'd like to do with Grey. I know what I want him to do to me, too. Please, Daddy... I promise I'll be a good girl... GREY Why is my little sister's best friend waltzing around our house wearing the skimpiest "outfit" I've ever seen? Don't ask. Not that I'm complaining, either. She has a body that's just begging to be dominated, bent over my bed, while I tell her what a naughty girl she is. Fiona turns me on so much it hurts. I'm not putting up with this tease any longer. At first I rolled my eyes at her little "joke" but the more she calls me Daddy, the more perfect it feels. "Daddy" means more to her than I thought possible. It's not about being a father. It's not being a father figure, either. It's like being everything. Love, lust, and all that's in between. Why am I so tempted? Who knows, but I want to be her Daddy forever.

The basic premise is a 30 year old man has raised/is raising his younger sister alone, and he's always been more like a father than a brother so she calls him Daddy. Nothing is going on with he and his sister. But then her best friend, who's always around and has no father or father figure, starts to call him Daddy as well. When she's 18 and smokin hot, they both start to see each other a little differently and when she calls him "Daddy" it's not the same as before. He's only 12 years older than her, so it's not a huge gap. I would have liked it better if he'd have been a little older maybe. Not that I'm projecting myself into his place or anything. Anyway...

This was a mix of comedy and sex that I found very enjoyable. Parts of it had me laughing out loud. Almost all erotic novels always have wtf moments in them, and this one was no different. First off, I hate it when people do something, say "oh we shouldn't do this", then do it again, and AGAIN say "oh we shouldn't do this" and so forth and so on. Either do it or don't, but don't do it and whine about it, especially over and over.

Also, the book started out with some funny and hilarious sexual tension, but then the sexual stuff got a little strange and abrupt. Oh, and the sister/best friend has no clue of any of the sexual antics/tension going on. (This review is all over the place, I know. Maybe I'm still thinking about certain scenes in the book and I'm distracted.)

And then things get even more awkward.

Anywho, they finally do the deed and there's mixed emotions and at times she comes across as an adult and at other times almost as a child, which can be a little odd given the situations.

BTW, if you are into the whole Daddy thing, this is DEFINITELY a book for you as there's plenty of Daddy action going on. I think the word Daddy is used in this one about 47,000 times. That just either turned some people off, or more likely the majority just one clicked.

I'm being funny here but really there are some hot scenes in this, and it's not all something you've read over and over. The spanking scene was odd but really hot. And Grey was hilarious. Mia Clark did an almost perfect job of getting into a male's head in this situation as I swear if I had been him I'd have been saying the same stuff to myself. Just hilarious.

There were also a few sad parts as I felt really sorry for Fiona, the female MC, as she had a pretty shitty life. Probably just as bad if not worse than the other two MCs. I suppose that was to give the realtionship between her and Grey, the male MC, a deeper connection rather than just sex. And that is definitely there, as there is some romance in this novel as well as the hot sex.

So to summarize my rambling, this is a sexy "Daddy" book with a lot of humor as well. It ends pretty much out of nowhere but I think there's a sequel that goes on to explain things. Pick it up if you're looking for some taboo (but not TOO taboo) hotness.

Ok, so it's no secret that I love me some Daddy-kink. And there have been a couple of books with this trope/kink that just didn't do it justice. Whether that be because it just felt out of place or it just wasn't good, whatever. However this one I felt so dirty while reading it and not the fun/good kind of dirty.

First off, this was written differently than a lot of books. It was written like they (the two main characters) were giving commentary on what was transpiring, which threw me off a bit. If I was enjoying the story, I think I could have gone along with this but because I was feeling icky, it just didn't work for me.

Second, both the heroine and the hero's sister called the hero Daddy. I sort of understood why the hero started saying he was his sister's dad because he didn't want to get into the details of their parent's deaths but he could have also just said, I'm her older brother and guardian, while probably not common, it's also not unusual so I don't think it would be a big deal.

Now the icky-ness came from how the characters read/sounded. The heroine (can't remember either characters names) but she was 18, she sounded both when she spoke and when she was thinking like a ten year old. I could understand child-ish moments but when that is the constant state a character is in, it just a.) gets on my nerves and b.) it makes me think the older character is taking advantage of their lack of maturity and child-like brain. And both of the girls (the heroine and the hero's sister) acted like this.

While age-play is not my thing (which this was not age-play, to be clear) but, when I do read it, there is usually a clear "on phase" and "off phase", so it doesn't give me this gross feeling that I had in this story. There is usually a clear indication that both people are adults but one is acting younger at certain times. The way the heroine talked and thought was constantly child-like and I did not like it.

And this ended very abruptly. The sister/friend didn't find out about them at all and I guess it's continued in the next book, which I'm not going to read. I'm already forgetting what happened in the first book and I just read it.

3.5 stars. The ending felt like there was some kind of error and the rest of the book just wasn't included in the download. It didn't even seem like a cliffhanger. It just suddenly stops. I'm perplexed. Aside from that, it was an enjoyable read. The author has a fun, casual writing style.

"Fiona glances up at me with this shy, sort of innocent look. There's a piece of pasta hanging out of her mouth, and I'm tempted to just Lady and the Tramp that shit. Grab the end, pop it into my mouth, and we both join up in the middle, you know?"

I thought the daddy kink was pretty well done and of course Grey was a dreamboat. But it could have been so much better if we had received a proper ending.

When Grey was 18 and Emily was 6 their parents were killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident. Grey raised her and she start calling him daddy. When she met Fiona and they became best friends she also called Grey daddy. When Emily and Fiona became 18 Fiona was in love with Grey and ready to show him. Fiona and Grey had a fun an interesting time with a bit of angst as she tried to convince him that they could have a relationship and make it work as him being her Daddy and take care of all of her needs.

Maybe it's me because I've been bored with a lot of reads lately. The writing wasn't great, so I was never invested in the characters. I love authors who immerse me in their story and make me feel like I'm there with the MC, feeling what they feel, thinking what they think, etc. I got none of that from this one.

That ending tho...

Ok so I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was funny and a lil taboo and sexy. But I gotta say, that ending definitely had me going wtf. Where's the rest?! I want more Mrs. Clark!!!! 😁😉😍

Shelved as 'did-not-finish'
April 1, 2018
Did not finish at 11%. Why? Because it made me feel gross. The fact that they had to explain in so much detail, that they weren't related, but they felt like they were, but they weren't, really, they weren't related, seriously, they weren't related. Ugh. Their attraction was gross, Grey's in particular, especially when he basically admited to being attracted to a 14 year old, when he was 12 years older than her. THAT'S GROSS.
So I stopped, because for some reason I hate reading books that make me want to take a hot shower and scrub all the ick off me. I dunno, maybe that just makes me normal. And this book was certainly not.

Funny and super taboo

I like how funny Grey is. He's an awesome character. I wish you had labeled this as a series though. I was thrown off and started reading the other one first.

The dialogue was fun, but sometimes it seemed to go on forever. The entire book happens in like 24 hours because of all that talking in the head.

***** Possible Spoilers Ahead *****

I liked this story. It was entertaining. The characters were interesting. The word daddy is used A LOT! Like a lot, a lot. If that bothers you, then this book will not make you happy. Emily, Fiona, and Grey all use daddy constantly. Grey is very rarely called by his own name. I don't have any issues with the age difference or that Fiona is Emily's best friend. I think my main issue with this story was that Grey was trying not to do anything physical with Fiona and she kept pushing until he gave in. The switch in the aggressor's kind of threw me even though I know that both men and women can be the aggressor. Also, I didn't feel like Grey loves Fiona romantically. I'm sure that he loves her as his sister's best friend who has been around forever, but that's all I got from him. His desire to take care of her can be just because he knows how things are at her house. The ending is definitely a cliffhanger/happy for now and it's abrupt. It kind of makes you go, wait, what? All that being said, I did enjoy the story I just wanted more from it. I wanted to feel a connection between Grey and Fiona beyond the physical and I didn't. Maybe that will be in later books. I recommend giving this book a shot. Maybe you will like it more than I did.

Very Silly Book

This book is so silly I began to wonder if the author was writing a satire on Daddy romance books. Fiona acts like a sex craved 13 year old and Grey, even though he is 30, acts like a 16 year old. Except Grey talks constantly to the reader as if we were asking him questions. This is a very clever device except we are obviously asking him very silly questions and he keeps claiming he shouldn’t be doing and thinking the things he clearly is. Fiona keeps asking if she is being a good girl, so much so that it gets irritating. Grey is Fiona’s best friend’s much older brother and that complicates things. It ends in a very tame cliffhanger so even though I thought it a very silly book I wanted to know how the author resolves the issues brought up. By reading reviews I discovered that nothing is resolved in book 2, 3 or 4. I am not that curious because maybe there will be book 5, 6 and on and on until the characters die of old age.

Tissue for your issues.

I have to say I loved Step Brother with Benefits so I wanted to give this a chance. Right off that bat though ill tell you I'm not a fan of lg/dd or even daddy books in general. But I am a fan of Mia's so wanted to continue with her books. While I did really like this story the whole "daddy" every other word drove me a little crazy. Maybe a little too much? And the girls were young yes but seemed immature. However. I did like the story overall. I really like Grey's character. He tries to fight the attraction but she is persistent as can be. Lol. He was really caring and sweet though. And dang this was a steamy book! I wasn't expecting all that but boy did I enjoy. Overall I enjoyed the book I did wish there was more to the ending or at least and epilogue but still ended with a HFN.

This is a fantastic story! I couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I loved reading about Grey and Fiona.

Grey has taken care of his younger sister since their parents death. He is a lot older than she is so it became easier for her to call him daddy. Her best friend, Fiona asked to call him that as well. He thought it would be something that she would do for a bit before stopping. He doesn't understand his reaction to when she says it though. Fiona has had a crush on him for a while now. They have an intense connection but Grey wants her to date someone closer to her age. Will they be able to find a happy ever after?

A quick, fun read but reading “Daddy” 15,000 times was a little much for me. I absolutely loved the guys name (Grey Royal) and you barely ever hear it in the book. Grey has been raising his sister since she was 6. In high school she meets a Fiona and became instant best friends. Fiona is always at Grey’s house visiting her best friend and always thought Grey was hot. Well, you know where this goes. Stuff doesn’t happen until she is 18 so if that’s an issue for you just know she was an adult when things got spicy. If you want a fun, spicy read and don’t mind reading “Daddy” in every sentence then give this one a shot. I’m sure I’ll eventually read the next one. This one does leave you hanging though.

I love a good older man and younger woman book. I liked this one, too. It just wasn't as special as I was hoping for.

I do give the author credit for the book being different. Grey, the hero, was the brother, not the father, although Fiona jokingly called him Daddy. Grey had raised his sister after their parents' deaths, and in some ways he'd been there for Fiona, too.

I can't really say why I can't give this more than a solid 3 stars, except that I guess I just didn't connect with the characters as strongly as I would have liked. The story was a fast read, and it kept my attention. If you like the father/older man trope, I recommend you give it a try.

I tried. I really did. The story should have been a good one. Based on the Blurbs I read: Best Friends Brother with a little bit of "Daddy" kink thrown in. Now I'm not a fan of daddy stories, but it's not a stepdad thing, so I thought it'd be fun. I was wrong. My God. I couldn't even read all of. Fiona calls him Daddy so much that I think I need therapy now.

I have Kindle Unlimited, so I read (some of) it for free. I would have been pissed had I paid for it. I've never read anything else by Mia Clark, and I'm willing to try again, since her work seems to have good reviews, but I don't understand all the 5 star reviews on this story.

This certainly was an interesting story going for the daddy - dom / little girl aspect but not a full fledged one. It was quite fun to read it even though these scenarios are totally foreign but in a romance, anything can go. The story has quite a fine storyline and the characters are quite well written out. I would have loved one more chapter in this story, telling perhaps about them coming clean with the sister but that is just a thought... Overall the story was quite good and I enjoyed reading it, so fabulous four stars go to this story.

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I have to admit that I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I don’t normally read ‘Old/Younger’ or ‘Daddy’ Tropes but this one delivers on Romance, erotica, comedy, Character Building and story building.
My biggest complaint is I felt like it ended too fast and the ending didn’t quite feel like an ending. If you’re looking for a fairly fast read with a Happily Ever After(HEA) than this is for you. Other than that I absolutely enjoyed this book.

Enjoyed all 3 of these books, the sex scenes in Daddy Issues were scorching hot but Fiona did grate on my nerves. I get she's only 18 and very niaive but I found myself thinking OMG she's so immature it's annoying, the way she talks and acts like an 8 year and and her over use of 'daddy'' made me cringe. She's 18 and legal so why don't they just tell Emily the truth unless Gray is too embarrassed at what his sister and others will think, the only saving grace for me was the insanely HOT🔥guy pictured on the front covers...holy hell this guy can call me momma any day

Having just finished the Stepbrother series I snuck in this book. I really liked it. It reminded me of Ethan, as fuck, and I needed this humor.
Grey sounds delicious as a 30 yo dealing with not only his 18 yo sister that he raised but her BFF that literally was joined at the hip with his sister. Fiona, although a little dippy, knows what she wants even joining in by calling him Daddy.
I thought the dynamics between Fi and Grey (Daddy) were great. Just enough angst, push/pull and yoga.
Glad there was a 2nd book to continue their story.

This book was fast paced book with hot steamy sex scenes and keeps you hooked from the beginning until the end.

Okay so overall. I think this was a pretty good read but it was just a little over the top with the Daddy link specific and the ending...I mean, was that even really an ending? It felt like the wwe order quota was met so let's end it here. So, if your into "daddy " kink, this is a steamy, older man, younger women, taboo romance you'll enjoy, except for the abrupt ending. I like to think that everyone loved hea...

I'm sorry, I don't like leaving bad reviews but I had to write this one! It's not worth my time or my money! I don't have a problem with a story having daddy issues, but this one wasn't thought out well before writing it. I have read other books from Cherrylily ARCs and they have been good. Maybe if ever time you turned around the 18 year old was not acting like a 12-14 year old little girl, or maybe it would be better if you added more to it.

This is a strange and very silly little book. By the end I wondered if the author was writing a satire on Daddy type romance novels. Fiona sounds like a thirteen year old with sex on the brain. Grey certainly doesn’t seem like a thirty year old. He sounds like a teen aged boy except for when he moralizes everything he wants to do with Fiona. By the end of this book Fiona sounds even younger because she keeps asking ‘Am I a good girl?’. There is no conclusion…this is a tame cliffhanger. Unfortunately I do want to see how the author resolves this craziness. More fool me!

Unrealistic, Emily can't be that dumb! It could be good but its so bizarre, oh yeah let's stick his rod in her so she knows how it feels in the restaurant ladies bathroom. Sure Emily is going to let minutes go by and not see where her brother and best friend are. The Daddy thing is too much, Emily should have stopped calling her brother that ages ago. This story is so unbelievable, its ridiculous. And what a odd place to end the story!

Whiney

He whines, she whines. It’s a big whine fest. Hiding the relationship for so long turns him from a man to a chump real fast. There are a couple of good sex scenes. That’s the only reason it got 2 stars. It almost got 3 stars but the continued self-deprivation and guilt got old. Romance needs alphas not a wishy washy boy who doesn’t stand up for a woman that he wants/loves.

This was an ok book to me. This book offered a little of a taboo aspect but a little bit more of a forbidden aspect. This book is steamy but the ending left a lot to be desired; there was no HEA or really even an HFN. The tension between Grey and Fiona was steamy. This book had some comedy too. I am looking forward to see what happens in the next installment.

Grey was an eighteen-year-old boy when his parents were killed. He then became the father to his six-year-old sister, Emily, and she came to call him Daddy. So did her friend Fiona who had a bad home situation. Now he is thirty and the girls are eighteen. Except he now has the hots for Fiona and she for him. What I did like about this book was the way the characters spoke to the reader. It was so funny. Not a bad read actually.
