Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde are back at it again and this time they have another book boyfriend to add onto your list. So ladies, you better get familiar with Kyle Coleman as he shows us that he is Well Built to love.

#WellBuilt

It has been ten years since Kyle Coleman has seen his first and only love, Ella Fisher. When he returns back home to buy a piece of property that is right next door to Ella’s family grocery store, he is well aware that he will be running into her more often. Ella is also interested in buying the building the next door but she was outbid by Kyle. And so when she goes into the city hoping to change Kyle’s mind in selling the building to her, she didn’t expect that it would lead to one night of hot passion.

The history shared by Ella and Kyle is complicated in due to the part that Kyle’s older brother knocked up Ella’s sister that resulted in a miscarriage. And toss in the fact, that Ella’s father suffered a stroke when he confronted Kyle and his family about his daughter. So Ella’s dad may not so welcoming to the idea of his daughter reuniting with Kyle.

#WellBuilt (1)

As Ella tries to keep Kyle in the friends zone, she couldn’t because her relationship with Kyle has always been magnetic and strong. With Kyle making it known to her that this second time around, he will fight for her has Ella giving her heart once more to Kyle. But what happens when Ella’s father learns that his daughter is back with Kyle, will Ella be forced to choose between the man she loves or her father?

Well Built is a sweet, sexy, and beautiful second chance romance that is low on angst which I loved especially when it came to Kyle and Ella. I loved how the authors kept everything drama free and kept the focus on Kyle and Ella as they reconnected their friendship and relationship. So if you are a fan of second chance romance like I am then this book is definitely for you. It had it all from sexy alpha hero, great sexual and emotional chemistry, and of course a sweet love story that will make your hearts flutter.

I enjoyed this story but I did think it was a little fast. I liked the characters so when we never really got a lot of background on them I was a little disappointed. Still a recommended read from me and can easily be read as a standalone if you haven't already started this series.

A second chance romance that's sure to please. It's Well Built, indeed! This second chance romance featuring former lovers who have matured over time is quite satisfying. I enjoyed the grown and sexy vibe of the novel.

Here's the breakdown: Kyle and Ella were high school sweethearts. They were first loves. An unfortunate situation between their siblings causes a rift between the families and ultimately our couple, as well. 9 years later the come face to face when Kyle outbids Ella at an auction she thought was a sure win. It's not the best way to make a great second impression, but Kyle works it to his advantage.

What I loved: Again, the grown up vibe of the novel. While there's conflict and misunderstandings, the couple approach their situation with open and honest communication. The talk about the situation that drove them apart instead of playing games and resorting to dramatics. They work through the initial family drama quite well. I really enjoyed that!

The characters, both Kyle and Ella are down to earth, hard-working, and family oriented. All pluses in my book!

The romance was steamy, but also satisfying and sweet. I enjoyed seeing these two resolved a decades old fight and come out of it stronger. And the ending was perfection.

Overall, a very satisfying and well written read!

Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde has done it again! WELL BUILT was a FANTASTIC addition to their AMAZING Book Boyfriend Series! Kyle Coleman and Ella Fisher are two characters that will stay very close to your heart! These two were like a breath of fresh air for me and I LOVED every single second of their love story! A second chance love story that will make your toes curl and your heart melt, WELL BUILT is one romance you DO NOT want to pass up!

"Ella...you're making it so damn hard to be good."

"I don't want you to be good. I really want you to be bad. With me."

WELL BUILT had EVERYTHING you could ever want in a beautiful and entertaining romance. It has heart. It has hilarity. It has beauty and romance pouring off of every single page. Two people with a very complicated history are reunited when our sexy hero, Kyle, has to come to his hometown to make a bid on something that both Kyle and Ella want. When Kyle wins the bid, animosity comes to the forefront for Ms. Ella Fisher, and she will fight for what she wants. She just didn't know that it would be for something more with the boy that she loved all those years ago. This is a romance full of family drama, reignited flames, and second chances. It's sweet. It's sexy. It's a bit angsty, but it has a humor factor that lightens the mood where appropriate. Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde always gives their readers a seamless love story full of ups and downs, happiness and heart, love and heartbreak.

I'm so excited when Carly and Erika write together. They always turn out something so FANTASTIC, and up next is Connor's book (Rock Solid, 11/14/17) which I'm SUPER excited about! All you have to do is read that synopsis (or look at the book cover) and you will be on board, for sure!

Teenage lovers are reunited ten years later in Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde’s Well Built, a sweet, sexy, and at times heart breaking love story. This writing team has a knack for breathing new life into often used romance troupes and they do it with style in Well Built.

Ten years after Kyle Coleman left Woodmont, Illinois and Ella Fisher, the only woman he’s ever loved, he is back in town and knows he will more than likely tick that same woman off royally when he outbids her for a dilapidated building next to her father’s grocery store and one he knows she wants, but him buying it isn’t about her or about him; it is about finally being able to give his mother something she has wanted all of her life.

I had great sympathy for the way these two were torn apart and I ached for the hurt they both still had in their hearts even 10 years later. They’d grown apart, they had their own lives but neither one had been fully able to move on and being in close contact again brought all those old feelings to the surface. Kyle impressed me with his ability to not let the past get in the way of what they had now or his hopes for the future, but Ella had such a hard time of living in the now and standing up to her overbearing and angry father mainly because she was scared it would cause him to have another stroke.

I was happy they rediscovered one another, but I hated that because Ella refused to rock the boat they really didn’t get to spend time outside of the bedroom with one another. While there was no denying their chemistry and sex is part of a healthy relationship, during the majority of this book I didn’t feel they were actually a couple since they had to hide what was going on between them. As much as I was happy they found one another again and I loved the ending, I kind of felt cheated out of seeing them rebuilding their relationship.

Entertaining and enjoyable, while Well Built isn’t my favorite book by this dynamic duo, I still wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

Well-Built is the 3rd book in the “book boyfriend” series by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. It is the story of Ella and Kyle. Ella is a small-town girl. She hates the big city…. matter of fact I think she has what is referred to as “urbanphobia” lol. She is happy living in her small town outside of Chicago. She works for her dad's grocery store as well as lives and takes care of him. Kyle is an owner of premier realty along with the other men who make up this series.

Kyle and Ella have a long history. They dated in high school…. but after an incident involving Kyle’s brother….Ella’s dad hates him. This hatred has continued to the present day.

Kyle and Ella have not seen each other in ten years, but both wanting to purchase a mutual property...puts them up close and personal. The property is the building attached to her father’s grocery store that Ella wants to expand the store to include homegrown products and merchandise. Kyle wants to give his mother her dream of an events center and bakery. When Kyle wins the property, and there up close and personal contact becomes daily...is it only a matter of time before they give in to the temptation?...

My thoughts:

I really love this series! The books are short, hot, sexy reads...with... an ending!!! If you read my last review...you’ll understand...yes im still bitter lol. I like to refer to the authors as the dynamic duo! They are a great writing team!

Kyle has been my favorite “book boyfriend” of this series so far! He is sexy, sweet, funny, compassionate, loves his mama and friends, loyal...well you get the hint. Ella was a little more frustrating. As stubborn as his father was... she was just as meek. “Let it go old man...it was 10 years ago...and it was Kyles brother...NOT HIM!! Ella stand up and be assertive...you are a grown woman...who deserves her own life”!! Aww….I feel better now.

I love the two of them together...although it seemed that you only got to see them together in the bedroom...since their relationship was a secret the whole book. Good thing they had no issues there! Overall this was another “well built” addition to the series (I couldn’t resist lol)!!

***4 ‘Figure It Out’ Stars***

And we have another winner in the Book Boyfriend series (though Max and Hailey from Faking It are still my favorite couple :D )! This second chance at love story is filled with humor, heart, heat that will keep you turning the pages and wanting more.

I fell in love with Kyle before the first chapter was over. What he does and the reason why he does what he does made my heart go all kinds of swoony and twitterpated. He’s got a laid back vibe and a good heart and when the Alpha side of him comes out to play all bets are off.

Ella I really liked. She’s compassionate, kind and I had to admire how she took responsibility for her family when things went to hell in a handbasket. But that responsibility weighs her down and while I totally understood why she did the things she did, I wanted to reach out and shake some sense into her so she could have a life of her own.

Kyle and Ella’s second chance at love journey was a fun one. The angst was low, which I really liked, and while there were a few bumps and some eye rolling/heavy sigh moments, it was fun to watch these two get to know each other again. The smexy was hot and I loved the Ella gave as good as she got. The issue that broke them up when they were teens was a pretty big one and I can’t say I blame either for how they handled, and didn’t handle, things, but I liked how they dealt with it all when they collided again and how everything worked out for them in the end.

As always, the writing was engaging, well paced and seamlessly put together. I enjoyed catching up with the other couples and cannot wait to get my hands on Connor’s book!

This is the first time I have read a book by either author and I have to say I am excited to have found two new authors. I will certainly be checking out their books!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish! It is a well written second chance romance that had great feels all the way through. It’s about first loves that were torn apart by family issues and they both moved on but never really got over their first. Fast forward ten years and Kyle and Ella are once again faced with their feelings.

Kyle is now the city boy that has his career in Chicago and Ella is the country girl running her family’s grocery store. They both bid on the building next to the grocery store with plans in mind and motion for their respective futures. Kyle plans on renovating the building and giving it to his mother so she can realize her lifelong dream of having a bakery and an event center to cater to. Ella has plans to expand the grocery store to include artisan products for all the local vendors. Ella was so sure she was going to be the only bidder so she was surprised and devastated when Kyle outbid her and he purchased the building.

Ella thought if she went to Chicago and talked with Kyle, even though ten years ago they split on bad terms, that Kyle would agree to sell her the building. When she surprises Kyle by showing up in Chicago, they both discuss their reasons for wanting the building and because Ella finally understands why Kyle wants the building, she backs down. The chemistry still sizzles between them and it can’t be denied. So, they agree to have a one-night fling that only complicated matters. They have both grown up and know what they want, but can they ever find common ground so things can work out for them? Will family get in the way of their ever-increasing feelings?

I am not going to say anymore, you are going to have to read the book to find out! This book held me hostage until I finished it. The characters are well developed and even though this is the third book in this series, it can be read as a standalone as I didn’t have any problems with the characters in the previous books making their appearances. I definitely want to go back and read their stories!

I highly recommend this second chance, lost first love book! Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

I've said this countless times, but it's worth a little mention again ... this author duo is perfection!! And what I love about them is their growth with every project they do together. Their earlier work didn't work me that well as a duo, but separately, these ladies always hit the mark for me. In the years since, they have grown tenfold and it has been a fantastic ride to read!

The journey of Kyle Coleman and Ella Fisher can best be described as a second chance at what should have been. So Kyle and Ella have history from a decade ago. It's not pretty but feelings are still buried deep in both of them. Kyle coming back to town is not going to make this history more pleasant. It's actually going to fuel the fire. It's that that made me love this book so much. Kyle's reason for coming back to town and ultimately making Ella's life not go the way she hoped added a layer to their already simmering chemistry. Because they had chemistry from the start in spades! Their story was fun because these ladies created characters that even thru their conflict there was heart. The story was down right hilarious at times!

I've really loved this series from the beginning and I hope these ladies continue giving us characters that are strong and independent with misgivings and flaws and all around sexy!

Well Built is a sweet with a touch of angst second chance love story. It's the third book in the Book Boyfriend series and can be read as a standalone.

Kyle Coleman and Ella Fisher were high school sweethearts until one tragic night when their world came crashing down. It's ten years later and Kyle is back and bidding on the same building as Ella. Ella is heart broken when she loses the bid because she had wanted to expand her families store. She doesn't give up easily but soon discovers that Kyle has personal plans for the building and isn't willing to part with his purchase. One broken down car later and Ella finds herself in Kyle's bed. Their connection is off the charts.

Ella has always loved Kyle but doesn't believe a long distance relationship can work. Ella fears and feelings of guilt keep their relationship undercover. Kyle wants more. He wants it all or nothing. No more hiding. Can Ella overcome her fears to move forward with her life. The angst is well developed. You can feel the angst moving in like a jet engine on full blast. When it hit my heart hurt. The ending however seemed anticlimactic. It's a sweet HEA but I felt a little let down. 4 Stars

Well Built is the third book in Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde's Book Boyfriend series. Each book can be read as a standalone.

It has been ten years since Kyle Coleman has had Ella Fisher in his arms. He and his high school sweetheart had a bad break-up in high school. But now he is back in his hometown to purchase a building next to Ella's family grocery store. And the building that Ella wants for her own. When Kyle outbids her, Ella is disappointed and goes to the city to see if he will sell it back to her. What she doesn't expect is for that trip about a building to turn into an one-night-stand with her ex. Or that Kyle wants more than just one night.

But with their shared history, is their relationship strong enough to handle the consequences of being together again?

Well Built is a sweet and sexy second-chance romance between two high school sweethearts that couldn't seem to move on from their young love. I really enjoyed that there wasn't a ton of unnecessary drama between the two main characters. You got a true relationship. Definite summer read!

I say this every time I read a book by these two authors (separate or together) but I LOVE these two!! They are always a one click, must read for me. I have been looking forward to reading Kyle's book since meeting him in Big Shot and Faking It and boy did it exceed every expectation I had but there again these two always do that. I can't tell you one specific thing that made it so good because, as with everything else, it all is just too good. Oh Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, how yummy are you and not just are you hot as sin, but sweet and alpha too. HOLD THE PRESS because that is the perfect description of a book boyfriend if I have ever heard one. I love the second chance romances and this whole series is one I will read and enjoy over and over again.

This was an ok read. I found it hard to get my head around a reserved heroine who balked at being around the city environment, was quite timid but then became all dirty talk and suggestive with the man who broke her heart 10 years earlier. And it was just like they fell straight back into things with each other. The second half was better and it was an ok read but not one I would pick up again. I didn't feel like I connected to the hero or heroine. Just my opinion- lots of positives out there from other readers.

MY RATING: 3.5/5

I was provided an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book number 3 in the Book Boyfriend series by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde follows the troupe of second chance love involving Ella Fisher and Kyle Coleman. The story is similar to many that you have read before this one. High school romance gone wrong but with a dark twist that keeps the readers interested and making the story more complex than we imagined it could be.

Ella Fisher…What can I tell you about Ella Fisher except for that she’s a mary jane with nothing much going for her. She’s loyal to her family, loves everyone in the small town, and the small town loves her back. I don’t dislike Ella at all. Don’t get me wrong. She just lacks character in ways and surprises me towards the end when she becomes this sexual vixen that takes on Kyle’s stamina in bed. 😉 Ella also grows as a character as well, standing up to her oppressive father.

And what I can tell you about Kyle except he’s literally the perfect book boyfriend. He’s considerate, compassionate, and loving towards everyone around him. He’s also a mama’s boy which makes me a Kyle fan girl officially.

When we talk about the plot, it’s average. A tale about Ella and Kyle finding their way back to each other because of an auction for a rundown building that both want to get their hands on. Ella wants it to build a store to sell local merchants items and Kyle wants to have it for his mother so that she can finally create a catering / decorating / party planning business.

Their attraction to each other? I’ll say its a medium burn sizzle. Nothing to cause three degree burns but something enough to make you go “Hot!” Instead of creating a fast romance, Carly and Erika also opted for a time lapse so that readers can understand that Ella and Kyle’s romance didn’t just go from horrible to heaven in a span of three days. It makes sense for time to past so that they can gain trust in each other again.

The writing? Well, let’s just say it’s traditional style writing. Lots of explanations. Little dialogue.

MY RECOMMENDATION:

I never read the whole series yet but this one was enough to peak my interest into Carly and Erika’s works.

Well Built is Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde’s current release. Honestly, I love every one of the books they collaborate on together. Well Built is a spin-off of the Dirty Sexy series (the first books I read by this team). The men featured in each book are partners with Wes Sinclair, a friend of Jackson Kincaid’s. I love these guys.

The story centers on Kyle Coleman and Ella Fisher. Kyle is back in his hometown of Woodmont, a small town with a population of just under one thousand situated an hour’s drive from Chicago. Kyle left Woodmont ten years ago when his good for nothing brother and drunken father caused a problem with his girlfriend’s father and sister. His ex is Ella Fisher. His ex is also his biggest competitor for a building he wants to buy for his mother. There is certainly going to be anger ahead when she sees who her competition is and Kyle isn’t looking forward to the confrontation.

The characters are a perfect match. They are both the caregivers and responsible siblings in their families. I love Kyle. He is a loving son, a good friend, and never forgot his first love. Ella is his female opposite. She has given up a lot to take care of her father. She has a giving and responsible spirit like Kyle. Unfortunately, her father hates Kyle because of his brother and a relationship will cause conflict.

Well Built is a fast-paced, easy read. The continuous action keeps the page turning, and the chemistry between Kyle and Ella has me rooting for them from the start. I love this series, well, I love all the books by these two ladies. Their scenes flow nicely with a good mix of action and romance.. The characters are so realistic and down-to-earth even when they live in a world I will never know. Ms. Philips and Ms. Wilde do an excellent job blending their writing styles seamlessly. It is impossible to tell which author is driving the scene. I want to read every book they release as every new book they turn out is better than the one before. I can see their collaboration improving the more books the duo, creates and their work together enhances their work individually. They don’t disappoint at all. Well Built is a must read.

Well Built is the third book in the Book Boyfriend series. Each book can be read as standalone but they are connected by Premier Realty. The four partners of the company are each finding love. If you have been reading the series then you know Kyle Coleman as one of the sexy redevelopers in the business.

It's been ten years since he walked away from his hometown of Woodmont, IL. It was also the day he walked away from the only woman he has ever loved. Ella Fisher. And now he was back. For a few months anyway if his plan worked out the way he wanted it to. He knew it was going to upset Ella but it was also going to make his mom happy. And he would do just about anything to make his mom happy after everything she has done for him. It's not like Ella and her family are going to hate his family more than they do now, so why not? Then he sees her. And damn does she still make his heart race. It's going to be hard to stay away from the one that got away.

Why? That is what Ella keeps asking herself. Why is he here? Why does he have to look so fucking delicious? Why can't she just stop thinking about him? It's been ten years. One big heartbreak. She should be over him but she isn't. She knows this. But she wants him. So, she gives in to what she has been craving. One night. That's all she can give him. She can do this. There is no way she could fall for him again. Her father won't allow it. And he means everything to her.

Kyle and Ella's relationship is complicated. They loved each other in high school but it's different now. One night ten years ago changed everything. Now one night in the present could change everything once again. One of them wants more while the other knows it can't happen. It won't work. They live in different worlds now. Can love be enough for them this time around?

I knew I was going to love this book from the very beginning. Second chances are one of my favorites. Add in some heated sexual tension, hate, and a small town. And it's going to be crazy. This writing duo always makes me laugh, tear up, and get all kinds of hot and bothered. The writing is just wonderful. The characters are lovable. The story is kick ass, and the gave me all the feels. I am excited for the next book. Conner is up next and I have a feeling is going to be H-O-T.

Overall...it's a fast, fun, sexy, and wonderful read.

Quotes:

“I don’t want you to be good. I really want you to be bad. With me.”

“You want to know what this city boy dreams about, baby?”

Make it go away, Kyle.

***ARC Provided by the Authors via Rock Star PR***

I enjoyed the latest by the duo of Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. As always, it was filled with characters that I liked, and a storyline that I enjoyed.

However, for some reason, the character of Ella was never one that I was fully able to relate to. And, I am not even all that sure as to why. I liked her, and I was drawn to their story, but there was something about her that made me feel like I was kept a little distant from her for the story. Not enough for me to think that it was a bad story, or for me not to be invested, but enough that I was never quite as connected to her as I was to Kyle.

Kyle, I understood him. The drive to move away from a small town, to make something of yourself in an area where you aren't constantly encountering people you went to high school with is something that connects many, myself included, who grew up in a town where it is impossible to go to the grocery store without running into someone you know, or who knows a member of your family. Coming back as someone who is successful, and changing something permanently, would be odd. And, he does exactly this, but he handles it well.

Relationships are about compromise. He was not going to leave his life, and company, behind in Chicago and Ella wasn't comfortable there. I loved, however, that this was a reality for them, and for the authors, and one that they made work. Is the resolution convenient for either Ella or Kyle? Nope, there is some give and take there and I loved it. I love it when the author makes the characters bend a little to stay together, it gives the story credibility and makes you believe that the happily ever after is actually going to work out for them.

As always, the writing and the pacing of the story were perfect, there was enough forward momentum of the characters to move you through the story and their actions were believable. Overall, I do recommend this title.

Well Built is book #3 in the Book Boyfriend series from Erika Wilde and Carly Phillips. Each book can be read as a standalone but all of the men in the series are connected by Premier Realty. Well Built is the story of Kyle Coleman and Ella Fisher.

Ten years ago, Kyle left his hometown of Woodmont. He also left the love of his life, Ella Fisher. Ella’s family had issues with Kyle’s family and their relationship could not stand against all the hurt. Ella demanded that Kyle leave her life, for good. And so he did.

Now Kyle is back with a plan to make his mother happy but it will come at a cost, the chance to repair his relationship with Ella. While making that dream a reality for his mother, Kyle takes away Ella’s dream at the same time. Yet, there is something still there between them. Kyle has never quite found that missing piece he’s been looking for in a relationship. Ella was engaged and called off the wedding because her fiance just wasn’t the man she’s always loved.

Second chance romances are my favorite and I enjoyed every minute of Well Built. A country girl and a city boy trying to make it back to each other again but are in two totally different worlds. You know immediately that Ella and Kyle have never gotten over one another but Ella’s family obligations stand in the way of their true happiness.

Can a complicated relationship between high school sweethearts be fixed without hearts being broken all over again? Can the city boy and the country girl rekindle what they once had?

I highly suggest reading Well Built. It’s a fast, sexy and fun read! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!

The third standalone book in the Book Boyfriend series is a second chance romance by writing duo Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde.

Kyle Coleman and Ella Fisher were young teenage lovers and sweethearts but then a family drama separated them abruptly and their relationship was no more. Fast forward ten years and Kyle having left for the big city is back in their hometown. He comes face to face with the woman who has always held his heart, but what he is about to do could make her hate him even more than she did when he last saw her. Ella on the other hand has always stayed close to home and looked after her father for the past decade. To say she is shocked seeing Kyle back in town is an understatement but then when she finds out why he is back it gives her an almost bigger shock.

This was a quick second chance romance read and was enjoyable even if it is one of the most overused tropes in the romance genre (but I do like second chance it has to be said!). However the characters were likable (although Ella did overplay the martyr syndrome which got a bit irksome after a while) and easy to fall into their story. Kyle was instantly likeable and remained throughout. I loved the banter he had with his friends who I assume had been featured in the other books in the series.

Overall this book kept me entertained and I would rate this as a 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Highly entertaining, sweetly sexy, emotionally charged second chance romance. Refreshingly drama light and filled with support of lifetime awesome as can be friends, Loved it!

Kyle Coleman is the strong, sexy alpha male that never commits to a relationship (at least not since the love of his life broke his heart) and prefers easy convenient hookups. Ella Fisher is sexy, sassy and not looking forward to confronting the one man she ever loved about buying the building next to her fathers market out from under her (but what choice does a girl have, right). The love that never really died sparks back and choices must be made. Very thrilling reading.

Check out my reviews on the first two books | Big Shot | Faking It  |

This book felt different than the first two. There was so much tension and past between the two main characters that your heart and brain were begging for them to forget it all and get back together. The raw pain of one night changed the future for these two and it hurt deep for both and their family.

Ella and Kyle used to be High School sweethearts. Except things happened between their families, and words were said that could not be taken back. So Kyle left to Chicago and barely turned back to his hometown about an hour away unless visiting his mother. But when a building goes up for sale he definitely wants to be in on that buy, which is the last thing Ella ever expected. Now Ella and Kyle are forced to become acquainted with each other once again since their business neighbors.

Now these two are all grown up and things have changed. In a good way on the looks department. The need they had for each other was sweet and somewhat innocent. Now it's a primeval need and craving... but will either of them act on it? I mean it is a romance book, so DUH... but how long will it take for them to jump each others bones?

And when they do finally realize that the love they had 10 years ago is probably still there, will their family drama prevent them from really being happy??

I loved this book, just like the first two and adore the writing duo between these two authors. As the rest of their books, I highly recommend!!

WELL BUILT (Book Boyfriend #3) by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

3. 5stars

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 25, 2017

When it comes to women, sexy, well-built Kyle Coleman has always been a lover, not a fighter. His one exception? The sassy, tempting, smart-mouthed Ella Fisher. Her family and his are sworn enemies, which make the two of them off-limits—despite the fact that she's inspired some of his dirtiest, most erotic fantasies for years. But when the lines between animosity and lust become irrevocably blurred one fateful evening, their one night stand leads to a very unexpected consequence—that changes everything between them forever.

••••••••••

REVIEW: 3.5 stars-- WELL BUILT is the third installment in Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde’s contemporary, adult BOOK BOYFRIEND erotic, romance series focusing on a tight knit group of friends who own and operate Premier Realty in Chicago. This is residential and commercial redeveloper Kyle Coleman, and grocery store owner Ella Fisher’s story line. WELL BUILT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Kyle’s business partners make cameo appearances throughout the story.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Kyle and Ella) WELL BUILT focuses on the rekindling relationship between real estate redeveloper, and grocery store owner Ella Fisher. Kyle and Ella were high school sweethearts but words said in anger, pushed Kyle out of his hometown of Woodmont, Illinois and into the busy city of Chicago, a bustling city he would soon call home. When a business opportunity, ten years later, presents itself in Woodmont, Kyle takes advantage of his real estate finances. Enter Ella Fisher, Kyle’s only competition for a coveted piece of Woodmont property, and the only woman who would ever claim Kyle’s heart. What ensues is the rebuilding romance between Kyle and Ella, and the couple’s struggle with a potential long distance relationship when Ella refuses to compromise due to issues back home.

Ella Fisher is a hometown girl whose life revolves around work and her ailing father. Rekindling her relationship with the only man she would ever love forces Ella to look at the bigger picture including the potential to step out of her comfort zone and into the life she has always wanted. Kyle Coleman struggled with the loss of Ella Fisher when words said in anger forced the couple in different directions. Ten years would pass but in all that time Kyle never forgot about the woman who would always own a piece of his heart.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Kyle’s mother Patricia Coleman, and his childhood friend Nolan Roberts; Ella’s father Charles Fisher, and her best friend Claire Myers, as well as Charles’ homecare aid Betsy. We are reintroduced to Kyle’s business partners at Premier Reality: Wes Sinclair (Big Shot #1) ,Max Sterling (Faking It #2) and Connor Prescott. Connor’s story is next in Rock Solid.

WELL BUILT is a familiar and predictable tale; a story of family and friendship; of second chances and a love that never waivered in spite of the distance and years. The premise is entertaining and sexy; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is passionate and intense. My only issue is the heroine’s underwhelming personality but perhaps it was intentional as part of the story line premise.

Ella Fisher has lived her entire life in Woodmont, Illinois, population 956. Her mother passed away when she was 13 years old, and even though she has a sister, Gwen, a little older than her, she’s always been the responsible one. For the last 10 years Ellas’s been running the family business, Fisher’s Grocery, after her father had a stroke. She gave up her dream of going off to college to stay home. It’s been that long since she broke up with her high school boyfriend, Kyle Chapman. Gwen's always been a flighty, selfish sister, and she left town a while ago. Mr. Fisher hates the Chapmans. Her father blames Kyle’s family for Gwen's problems and he’s convinced they’re responsible for his health problems. Ella dated Tucker, a high school friend, for 3 years and was even engaged to him, but broke it off a year ago. Why? Because, she’s still not over her first love, Kyle.

Kyle has a very successful business in Chicago, buying and renovating properties to resell. For the last ten years he’s been living the carefree, bachelor life. He’s never forgotten Ella, and still regrets how acrimoniously they ended their relationship. When he finds out the business next to Fisher’s Grocery is up for auction, he decides he’s going to buy it, and surprise his mother. He wants her to quit working at the diner and fulfill her dream, of owning a bakery/event center. The same property that Ella has plans to purchase, to expand the store and add products made by local artisans. When he outbids her, she decides she’ll have to go to Chicago and try to convince him to sell it to her.

“So, you came by to proposition me?”
“Yes….no, not like that.”
“I’m sorry, Ella. It’s not for sale. At any price.”
“Are you doing this to spite me or because of some kind of grudge you’re holding against me or my family from the past?”
“Ella…there is no spite as far as I’m concerned, and I’ve never held a grudge, I know this is coming ten years too late, but I’m so sorry about what happened that night, for the things I said and how it all ended. For your sister….For your father…For us. Walking away from you was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, and the second most difficult thing was not going back to Woodmont to make things right. I never should have left despite you wanting me gone. I should have been there for you when you needed someone the most.”

Kyle’s going to be in Woodmont, supervising the renovations and seeing Ella daily. He doesn’t like, or accept, that she friend-zoned him. She knows her father won’t be happy learning that she and Kyle are on friendly terms again. It seems he wants her to be bitter and unhappy, just like him. Kyle can’t understand why she isn’t willing to live her own life.

“You’re going back to the city, where your life is, and I’m staying here, where I need to be for my father. A long-term, long-distance relationship isn’t fair to either one of us.”

**sigh** it’s not fair to put your life on hold. To sacrifice your own dreams and happiness. I wanted Ella to stand up to her father and his selfishness, to say that enough was enough! And Kyle, I loved him and his persistence. For all of us that love to sigh at the end of a story, you won’t be disappointed!

I really enjoy the books these authors create when they team up! They always weave a great tale and Well Built is another hit to add to their list. This second chance romance was well written and had me shaking my head and sighing at the same time.

I understood Ella. I didn't always like her, but I did understand her. She has a hard time asserting herself with her family-and that made me want to shake her at times. Not hard...just a little LOL. I do think she grew throughout the book so I DID like her, I just didn't love her as much as some other heroines I've read from these authors.

I adored Kyle, simply adored him. He knew what he wanted and he was going to get it, no matter the cost. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place and I really felt for him and the decisions he made. I appreciated how he handled himself in this situation, and my heart went out to him. I have to admit that I loved his dirty mouth, too.

These characters definitely weren't lacking in the chemistry department. When they were together you FELT it. I loved that they had both tried to move on but still holding that piece of themselves back. Reuniting, even under less than ideal circumstances, forced them to face the fact that nobody else ever measured up for either of them. Their relationship isn't an easy one, it's not all sunshine and roses when they reunite, and I really, really liked that.

I love how these authors work as a team. It doesn't feel like two people wrote this book it all just flows as if it came from one mind-and I admire that. These two have a knack for writing books that I can just dive into and fall in love.

This book is part of a series from these authors but can absolutely be read as a standalone with no issue. The writing here is great, I was immediately engaged with the story. The pacing worked and I overall truly enjoyed our couple. I would recommend this title.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

This was wonderful. Each book that Carly and Erika have teamed up on has given us a sassy strong female, a caring male who doesn’t always make great choices but knows when he screws up and a romance to steam the kindle.

Here we have Kyle and Ella. Kyle is being painted by the brush of sins of others in his family. So much so that he had walked away from the love of his life and didn’t look back. Did he regret this? yes but he knew it was best for Ella and what she needed at the time.

Kyle is a great guy. He is strong and caring. Honest and sexy as sin. He pushes Ella’s buttons but also knows what he wants. he realizes he wants Ella after seeing her all those years later and goes about to get her. he is patient with ella and does everything on her terms from the start. That doesn’t mean there aren’t times he is a jerk because there are but he is quickly put in his place by Ella and those around him. I love his relationship with his mom and how much he loves and want her happy.

Ella is the one in this book that has to grow. She is the one that has always done what was right for her family but not always for her. When she runs into Kyle again she didn’t expect her feelings to resurface once more. She doesn’t want to rock the boat with her dad because of the past but she also wants to be with Kyle. Overall she is strong and a great character she just allows her enablement of her dad and the past dictate the present.

So how do we get our explosive moments? It is Ella that keeps Kyle as her romantic tryst secret and him wanting more. I love that about Kyle. He isn’t afraid to show his love and feelings. How does this play out? Lusciously to say the least. We get to see courage and love play out.

A wonderfully written entertaining story. we get sassy banter, sexy times, warm and fuzzy moments and see friendship strengthen. We see two people who love and respect each other find their way to each other once more and learn to overcome obstacles and the past to be together.

WELL BUILT is billed as a second chance story with animosity and forbidden love (Yes, pleeeze!!!), so I was psyched for passionate verbal skirmishes followed by even more fiery physical “tussles”. It delivered on the latter, but not so much the former.

Usually a second chance romance where a harsh breakup caused the couple to purposely avoid each other for 10 yrs. would be contentious and require a lot of explaining and groveling. Frankly, the back and forth animosity that creates tension and usually ends with some explosive sexy times is my favorite part. So I was surprised that this was missing here. The early, quick, almost polite resolution left me confused and extremely needy. Although I can’t say that for the couple. They did get their smexxy on many times, which did not leave any of us feeling needy except to want more of that hotness.

Gotta admit I had a tough time connecting to the main characters. Maybe that was due to the book synopsis, which described Ella as sassy and smart-mouthed. Unless my definition is completely different, I found her neither. Quite the opposite, in fact. She was a mass of contradictions that kept me constantly trying to get a read on her. One moment she was in a mousey panic and the next bold and brazen. It was quite frustrating.

Kyle. Oh Kyle. He, too, was a contradiction. He certainly had his sweet moments that sucked me in and had me believing he was at last reformed. Then BAM! Out burst an alpha comment or move that destroyed all his previous goodness. I have absolute zero tolerance for that “You woman. Mine. Don't talk to another male.” thing he had going on half the time. I’m a picky reader when it comes to heroes, so I fully expect my opinion to be in the minority. If alphas are your crack you’re gonna love him.

While not my favorite Book Boyfriend story, Well Built is a good contribution to the series and well worth the read. I enjoyed seeing the main characters from the previous books and look forward to Conner’s story. A hero who prefers relationships to hookups is unusual and refreshing. I can’t wait to see where the authors take his story.

I received an advance copy and choose to write a review.

LOVED this story!! It’s a classic love story of young love, family drama, small town vs. big city! Kyle and Ella were in young, in love and had a future planned. Then tragedy struck in their families and they were torn apart. Fast forward ten years and fate, in the form of an old, dilapidated building, brings them back into each others lives. The passion is still there, but old issues, as well as some new ones, continue to keep them apart.

I knew from the beginning that Kyle was going to be one of my favorites. He isn’t cocky, he isn’t a player...he’s actually hesitant about hurting Ella yet again. But it’s for his mother!! Who doesn’t love a man who takes care of his mother!

Ella was the good daughter. She stayed. She never really got over the loss of Kyle (who could?) but she tried. Thankfully the engagement was cancelled and she pushed on. Kyle brought out the passionate side of Ella and made her wish for more. She wasn’t initially strong enough to stand against her family but could his love and support make the difference?

This story had the passion, the heat, the emotions and was just a fun read. Plus we get a little glimpse of past couples, although if you haven’t read the other stories, it doesn’t affect this story at all. It’s just a neat little twist for those of us who devour these authors. I cannot wait to meet the girl who steals Connor’s heart in the next story!!! Bravo Carly and Erika!!!!

Ohhhh I love me some second chance romance! WELL BUILT is chock-full sweetness, sexiness, and all-out enjoyment from the two witty and endearing main characters. Kyle and Ella are a product of their circumstances. Two innocent bystanders in a screwed-up whirlwind that came from their families, but years later they can't forget or deny the passion and connection they share those years ago. And while Kyle is not willing to let Ella go after a shared night scorching sex, she's hesitant. She doesn't want to risk her family, but Kyle gives her more, fills that spot in her life that's been dormant since her sister's actions turned her life upside down.

This author duo knows how to suck me in every single time. Kyle and Ella's story was no exception. They had chemistry radiating off the page, and the emotions roiling through them both tugged at my heartstrings. A second chance relationship would have been hard enough to get over, but with still-present hurdles Ella had to make some tough decisions, that were for the betterment of her and everyone else, but they weren't easy decisions to make. And that in and of itself is the relatability factor in this book that really helped me connected with Ella. Kyle is his own brand of sexy relatable form the get-go. Kind, caring, and hot as sin. Yum.

All in all, this book was terrific!

Happy Reading!
