A year after a messy break-up with her stripper ex-boyfriend, seamstress, Trevia McCall, is still feeling the after-effects of his betrayal…and their mind-numbing sex life. She’s done with him, but her subconscious mind and body haven’t gotten the memo.
Spoken word artist, Nyles Adams, is the kind of man Trevia loves to love—handsome, talented, and cocky as hell. But as far as she’s concerned, he’s everything she wants and nothing that she needs.
Could it be possible that Trevia and Nyles were made to love each other?
About the author A true southern girl, Alexandria House has an affinity for a good banana pudding, Neo Soul music, and tall black men in suits. When this music-loving fashionista is not shopping, she's writing steamy stories about real black love.
I just did not like Made to Love. I am honestly surprised at all of the 5 star ratings this book got. The author's writing style changed drastically between this series and The McClain Brothers series. It's almost like both series were written by two different authors. I didn't like Trevia at all and I hate when I dislike the heroin of any book. She spent too much time whining about how Wesley dogged her out that, she almost missed her blessing with Nyles. One of the things that really annoyed me with the audiobook was, every time there was a scene where Nyles would read his poems, the female narrator would read them and she did a horrible job! It made no sense that the male narrator didn't read the spoken word parts of the novel since that was the male character did for a living. As I said in my previous review of Higher Love, the female narrator ruined the book. Null Mari has a very mature sounding voice. Too mature to narrate characters who are in their late 20's. She sounds like a 50 year old woman which, makes it hard to get into the characters. She doesn't change the sound of her voice when she reads the male characters and all of the female characters sound the same. She just did a really bad job narrating this book. Even the sex scenes were unimpressive and boring. At this point, I'm ready to finish this series just to be done with it. I will not revisit any of these books.
Nyles seemed too possessive and jealous, and Trevia too codependent. I found myself side-eyeing too many parts of the story. I get it, it’s a romance, so things tend to move fast. But Nyles and Trevia’s relationship seemed to move unbelievably fast and I wasn’t quite convinced they were right for each. Trevia kept judging her sister’s relationship, but yet she made mistake after mistake and questionable choices herself. I wasn’t convinced Trevia learned anything. I wasn’t convinced that she found her own self and voice.
This insta-love was a bit too saccharine for me. I wanted a little bit more as to why Trevia got with that loser Wesley. She didn’t have enough time to really deal with that before she fell for Mr. Poet. But I was happy for her as she deserves it. I do want to know more about her sister. That relationship seems more complex and would be more Angsty.
3.5 ⭐️ “We were made to share the good, forget the bad, & love each other through the ugly.” Mr Nyles Adams sure had a way with words, especially when it came to Trevia McCall! This was a cute story, & I enjoyed it.!!
We'll COLOR me happy...I'm REALLY enjoying this series...I thoroughly ENJOYED Trevia and Nyles' journey of lust turned LOVE and all the surrounding DRAMA and the CRAZY and entertaining secondary cast of characters...and Nyles' poetry took me back to the movie Love Jones...I can't wait to read the next book in this series! Well DONE Ms. House!!
I actually finished a book. Go me. Since I’ve heard a ton about this poet in Alexandria’s other books, I was super excited to read his love story. It did not disappoint.
This was not a favorite of mine, & I normally love this author’s books. I felt like both Nyles & Trevia had toxic traits. Nyles was overly possessive & Trevia was overly insecure. I don’t believe that any person should be in an unhealthy situation such as this, & I wouldn’t deem this a healthy love story to read. Read if you want to complete the series, but it’s nothing like Greer’s story, which was more balanced.
I've found myself falling in love with the friendship between Greer, Trevia and Denise more than the guys they meet. It's probably due to the more development of their friendship over time. I love how these sisters stick together.
I can't not enjoy most of Alexandria House's books. They are sexy, fun and have some great characters that make for a good series. Trevia was mentioned in the first book of the Love After series and her man was a stripper. But as we find out at the end of book 1, he was a lying, cheating no good for nothin man. I was very curious where her story was going to go. And in true AH style, her next lover is another performer that she just can't forget. Nyles is a poet that performs at her sister's club and Trevia cannot get him out of her mind. She ends up following him to another club and when we hear from Nyles POV, we learn that they are both feeling it. But Trevia has been burned before, so she takes it slow. As slow as that woman can. Because the girl likes her men! But Nyles just knows Trevia is made for him to love. It's an insta sort of thing with these two once they do connect.
Made to Love was a shorter read and I listened to it on audio with Mari and Jakobi Diem narrating. I've come to realize I love the audiobooks from Ms House and will continue to read her books that way until they don't work for me. These two brought the story to life and I liked them together. It was nice to see the past characters and get a taste of who we might hear from next. I did NOT like Wesley, Trevia's ex, but their interactions could've played out a bit better. Overall, another fun and sexy little read with some hot AF poetry coming from Nyles. I'll be finishing up the series asap.
I love reading anything written by Alexander your house! imagine meeting your future wife while on stage performance a written word piece. (that’s poetry for the rest of you guys. Lol) well that’s what happens to miles as he’s on stage he sees a beautiful woman in red and he instantly falls in love with Travia.
This was a good continuation to the series and I enjoyed Trevia and Nyles’ story. Nyles knew what he wanted and went after it. I know that’s right!!! 🥰
Made to Love was a good read. It was sweet, steamy, and honestly funny at points. Trevia and Nyles were made for each other and I loved how the narrators brought these characters to life. The sweet moments between them were sweet and the steamy moments were steaming. Trevia has a scrub ex, so Nyles has to put in some work and have some patience, but it pays off because like I said before, they were made for each other. I truly love this series so far and the friendship and support between the heroines.
My only complaint is that Trevia kept calling her privates Ms. Kitty, and it took me out of the story every single time. She is too grown to be calling it that, but to each their own 🫠
Confident, well spoken, chocolate cutie is certain you are his soulmate. Yes, please! Spoken word artist Nyles would have talked me out of my drawers too!
I appreciate these early books from A. House as the FMCs are complicated and sometimes not even likable. Most of the FMCs are struggling with accepting or trusting real love when it finds them. But I love a world where Black women don’t have to be perfect but are still worthy of big, expressive, protective love. I love that for us!
Great story line, characters and jokes. I just can't believe in book one and book two the people made the same mistake. Some secrets don't need to be kept!! I still loved it though!!
This was not my first book by Alexandria House, but if it were I wouldn’t be interested in reading more books by her. Nyle was controlling and Trevia seemed extremely insecure and desperate to me. Initially I thought Nyles just popped up at a random apartment but realized the friend sent him the address. So I was glad that was addressed. Her sister and Amir felt like an add on with little conclusion of what led to her “ losing the club” but then also randomly getting back together in the end.
Overall this book just didn’t do it for me, and that’s ok.

<3 These stories are addictive! <3

This book was messy, but in a good way. If that makes sense. I thought Trevia's book would be a little bit more fun, and while it was definitely wild, there were parts that made me raise my eyebrow a little too high. The issues with her ex were comical at best, and they almost overshadowed the story between the hero and the heroine. This was still an enjoyable read that I listened to in one sitting.
3.5 stars 🌟 Nyles was straddling the line between cocky and confident. Trevia with her dreams lol. Their relationship was possessive, messy but still very entertaining to read about!
Sexy, messy, dramatic, I was engrossed from the first word to the last. I am really digging this author’s voice. And the narration is *chef’s kiss* perfection.
