USA Today Bestselling author Angela Pepper lives with her family in the rainy Pacific Northwest, surrounded by spoiled kitties, deer, raccoons, and the biggest woodpeckers you've ever seen.
I thought this story was much better than the first one. Eli is still just a bit clueless but he's more confident now that he's had an actual paranormal experience. Khan is still Khan. But Brenda has changed significantly. We finally get a bit of story from her perspective and see a normal, slightly insecure human under all that abuse. While I still don't like her much, I like her much more than I did in the first story.
John Pirhalla does another great job narrating. The characters are well-defined and the pacing is perfect.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
This is book 2 so you need to have read the first to learn about Eli, Brenda, Monty and Khan. Our story is about Eli's first two days on the new job at Ghost Hackers. He still doesn't understand much about this whole paranormal thing but he's using instincts and his noggin. Khan is just a smart a$$ trying to make a living, part con-man and part ghost hunter. This particular case was rather interesting with a wonderful twist. There are two poltergeists lurking in this man's home and the team is sent to be rid of them. Smartly written with quirky comebacks, subtle clues and high tech ghost hunting gadgets makes this series exciting and I hope for great success for this team. It appears the authors are developing titles alphabetically, let's hope we have a 26 book series! I received a copy from the authors for an honest review and I can't wait the next one.
I was not a fan of the first book and I am not a fan of this book. It was already downloaded on my phone and I was out walking so I listened to this book.
The story has not gotten any better and the characters are super unlikable.
The plot was better in this book but nothing special I Liked the poltergeist confusion.
The character Eli is changing I just don't know if it's for better or worse.
This is Book 2 of a series. I liked it better than the first book, probably because I've accepted the bizarre world in which Eli Carter lives and sort of functions. These are billed as cozy paranormals. The pacing of the novel was good. Eli's self-deprecating attitude was humorous instead of annoying, as it seemed in the first book.
Eli is better defined. Khan begins to have a personality. Brenda and Valentine are also better defined. However, it seems like there is a gap between Book 1 and Book 2. This time the ghosts are Poltergeists. Yes, poltergeists in plural. So many of them that the gang begins to wonder why they are appearing and why they are appearing only in one area of the town. Every day there is a new poltergeist call. Yes, they are busy and making money but they are still wondering.
Along the way, they meet a little boy named Joey who seems to be quite poor and not well taken care of. So, the two go to Joey's house and find out the boy's mother has some series issues which helps to make up and keep the plot interesting.
However, Eli is the one who has most of the plot.
I really like the part where Eli and Khan take Joey to the Renaissance Faire. :)
I'm starting 2024 out with whimper. A whimper that is coming from me because I just listened to a book that just entered my top 5 dumbest books read of all time. Thank every god/goddess in existence that this was relatively short or it would have been a DNF. The cast of characters are ridiculously stupid, the character conversations are pointless, and nothing happens until the last page of the book and even then your feeling like you're being punked. There is a story and it would have been a cute one if this had been written by someone who gave a shit. Even the cat wraith in the the story would have done better.
Prepare yourself for snarky humor and twisted absurdities as you learn of cat wraiths, poltergeists and ghosts. If you read book 1, the story picks up immediately; but all pertinent details are recapped efficiently and smoothly so this tale will stand alone quite nicely. I had the benefit of listening to the expertly read AUDIO version and was thoroughly entertained. The plot contains some unexpected turns resulting in a surprise ending and made for a delightful "read."
I really enjoyed the other two series I’ve read by this author but this one is just ok for me so far. Two books in and I still have no idea what the mysterious breakdown in society is all about. I’ve actually checked more than once to make sure I didn’t accidentally start on book 2 or 3 because there’s so much basic plot information missing.
These stories are short but fun. The ghosts are quirky. Actually, so are the people. I like the twists, even though it's just light reading without a deep plot. I think I'll buy the third in the series.
3.5 stars. Eli and Khan are weirdly funny. Picking up at the end of the first book, Eli is still trying to figure out what his job exactly entails. Their new client needs some ghosts out of his house, but there’s an amazing twist.
This was a very enjoyable story, with a nice happy ending. Much better than expected. Well-written, well-paced, and entertaining. In my opinion, this book is very well worth the time to read.
I liked this even more than the first book. I love the chemistry between Khan and Eli, I feel like he (Eli) got the brother he always wanted and needed. These guys are bizarre and I love it.

I am starting to warm up to these short stories & the interesting characters. I want to see where the author is going with this series so I am glad I have the next one. I would say to anyone if you don't like the first one try to continue on. I am not saying this is the greatest but its different and a nice change from what I usually read and from the authors other series. Thanks!!!
Well if book one didn't have you laughing and gripping to the pages waiting for the ghost to appear or something hysterical to fly out of Eli’s mouth, then you are in for a REAL treat here. The next step in Eli’s amazing ghost adventure will leave you wanting more…no salivating and panting for more.
The hilarity of his nervousness around other people, his frankness then the undeniably and befuddling frankness he possesses, wait sorry, that’s his truth chip in his head.
In this installment you get it peak under the skirt of Khan and his sister Val. Val is one of those girls you want to share secrets with and just watch her work while drinking beer and mad scientist laugh the whole way as you plot your next trick.
I found that the mysteries of Eli’s girlfriend, Brenda, has me asking more question about her and where she’s from…and I no longer want to double punch her in the who-ha for being a troll. I’m still no sold on her, but I’m more interested in what comes with this chicken.
Most of all…………I WANT A RAY GUN!!!! Seriously, even if the FBI, CIA or any other government body started a file on me, I WANT A RAY GUN! Not just any gun, I want the gun that Khan man wrestled a smelly army fella for that makes plants grow instantly and enhances your eyes so you can have xray vision!
I want to see what in Eli’s head!
It’s another page turner and gripper from T Paulin. I am left with tummy sores from the giggle fits and a sore neck from the head tilts as I was perplexed with the characters…not to mention the ghosts. Seriously…it was orange. How cool is that? AND the equipment? I WANT A RAY GUN and a hexa-thingo-majig. You need to read the first book, then you HAVE to read this book. I loved the feeling it gave me, the mystery that lay around the corner but you weren't quite sure what it was or if you wanted to know.
This is a great adventure and I’m sitting shotgun!
Following up directly from book 1, we get to see Eli tackling his new job, an unexpected side of Brenda (maybe), and the shenanigans Khan can get up to when on the case. Oh, and Eli gains a pet cat wraith. Sort of. It might be more Brenda's than his. I'm still not sure that's her name, btw. Which, honestly, is no reflection on the author's writing and more because I have this habit of blocking things I dislike from my memory. And, well, I'm not real keen on Eli's lady friend.
Anyway. Eli. New job. I'm not going to lie, I expect he's found his niche, his calling, the thing he can do better than any other thing. I also expect it's not going to be an easy job. What would you expect with a guy like Khan running the show, though? Khan's not exactly the most conventional person around. I will say he's fun and he has ideas that make me grin, but he's likes to take the hardest path down the mountain and that will make it tough on Eli down the road.
We're given a little more information on Eli and his chip, hints of something mysterious and potentially dangerous who's now aware of him, and ghosts. Ghosts who like to cause problems. Fun all around, I say!
This a direct continuation of her first in the series. I am reading these one after the often and they don't lose the enjoyment as soon often happens. The characters continue to grow and evolve. Brenda is even growing on me. A series that is odd but certainty worth reading.
A zombie book without zombies...well, this one is. Set in Eli's post-apocalyptic world where part of the city is taken over by Crashers, Eli's too busy with poltergeists to have much time for zombies at this juncture. Not to mention the cat wraith that's moved into his apartment...
He starts work for Khan at Ghost Hackers and his first assignment is...well, pretty damn funny. I don't do spoilers, so I'll have to recommend you read it yourself. Who knew ghost hacking required so much tequila? Or strippers?
There are some insightful snippets in this book, too, hidden amongst the story. My favourite quote has to be, "A caged bird has nothing to sing about."
Now I really, really want to read the next book in the series.
I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book for an honest review.
I somewhat enjoyed the first, i loved the last few chapters of the first one, and so i was excited to get to the 2nd one.
It wrapped up the first book, and continued on. The second part of the story was very interesting, the poltergeist. I can only remember one funny part, just off the top of my head, unfortunately its a spoiler, but i really enjoyed the poltergeist point of view. I was happy to see Eli change a bit more, and the relationship between all of them evolve. I have such a hope for Eli and Brenda.
The aspect in both books that i loved was his inability to lie. I want to know where to get those chips, i need a few in my life...Any way, i am eagerly waiting book three.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It had earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Given in return for honest review. Wasn't sure about Eli's abilities in my first review. In this story he is smarter, but his girlfriend is stranger than she was in the first story. Eli starts his second day with Khan. Khan is still strange. When he's on the phone he still shoots staples into the garbage can. This time he has a potential client/customer call Eli. While Eli is trying to remember the address, Khan is spewing numbers at Eli. Eli uses the old standby when paper is not nearby. He puts it on his arm, but later he is not too confident about the address between Khan's random numbers and the sweat on his arm. Can't wait for the next episode to see what kind of mess they get into.
GHOST HACKERS 2 Eli and Khan are at it again in this one the ghost is their client and there are people who are in the cross fire between one of the ghosts who don't realize that they are actually a ghost then something happens to his girlfriend Brenda who seems different due to what Eli now does .. Khan has something interesting .. Val his sister is a wiz with making things .. there is someone who dies but not going to say whom and why but buy the book then read it then review then read on .. until next read and review ...
