“Would you like an adventure now, or should we have our tea first?”
-Alice in Wonderland

Cynthia Luhrs spends her time out on the deck, looking out over the mountains, imagining what if. She writes women’s fiction, time travel romance, contemporary romance, family sagas, paranormal romance, and thrillers. Readers say her books (well not the thrillers, those are gritty) are light-hearted reads to escape reality.
She lives in the mountains of North Carolina, has always been a reader, and is overly fond of sparkly flip flops and pretty pens. Though now that she lives in the mountains she’s going to have to find fabulous boots, mittens, and hats!

Time travel is something I would like to do, but with my luck, I would land in the middle of The Plague or The War of the Roses on the losing side, but Rainbow Elizabeth found herself in Ribert Thorton’s bed, literally. Cynthia Luhrs’ Forever Knight (Thornton Brothers Time Travel #2) is about Robert Thornton who basically practices fighting with his men every day, and then at night he drinks and wenchs all night. Edward, Robert’s older brother, has been pushing Robert to clean up his lifestyle (He is a Thornton and a knight after all.) and get married. Robert tells Edward that when he meets a “future girl” which has happened to his brothers, John and Henry, and a couple of his friends. Robert feels that he is safe because how many more “future girls” can there be. Well, very shortly, Robert will awake with another hangover and Elizabeth in his bed! Another light fun read! On to #3.

Rainbow Elizabeth Smith works for a non-profit organization where she protests causes in need sometimes ending up in jail. Elizabeth is in dire need of a change yet unsure what to change too. Fate or luck Elizabeth stumbles upon a contest for a week at castle in England. Elizabeth is excited to have won the contest. Meanwhile in 1333, Robert Thornton~Lord Highworth is struggling with immense guilt over his actions towards his brother John. He puts off his family coming to visit him because of it and due to his friend Conor being at Highworth Castle. Robert only has one rule no women in his bed chamber overnight no exceptions ever. Little did Robert know was that rule would go out the window when Elizabeth appeared in his bed. When Elizabeth wakes up in bed with a strange man her life takes a turn she never expected. Robert puts Elizabeth in the dungeon until he can figure out what to do with her. Lord Radford discovers Elizabeth in the dungeon while searching for more wine. This puts Robert in an uncomfortable position where he's forced to wager Elizabeth. Elizabeth is furious yet appalled when Lord Radford wins against Robert. Can Robert win Elizabeth back? Will Robert let guilt continue to rule him? Will Elizabeth forgive Robert? Your answers await you in Forever Knight.

I'm really loving this series! The Thornton Brothers are really fascinating men. They are manly men that prove brawn and intelligence make for awesome alpha males. The women paired up with these men are no wilting wallflowers either. They can hold their own against these men and thensome. The characters and story are compelling, intriguing, raw, gritty, honest, real, and inspiring too. I look forward to my next adventure in this series.

Given to me for an honest review. I love time travel books. It's always interesting to see how the author sets the scene for the actual time travel. Will the traveler have a way to return to his/her time? How does the traveler accept being in a different time and sometimes a different country? The one thing that is constant is love. Elizabeth is a protester for clean water. She has been in jail enough times that her employer fires her. She finds a Renaissance faire magazine with a contest that the winner will live a week in Highworth Castle, England. She wins, already has a passport (thanks to her traveling parents) and no job. She can't wait to see the castle in person. She is in her bedroom, but there is something about it. She knows she will not be able to sleep in this bedroom. Although she has been told not to wander around and to not enter just any room, she finds a bedroom that is more welcoming. When she wakes, there is a naked man in the bed with her. Can't wait to read her other time travel books.

I think I have read too many of the author's books in a row--5. Next, I need a palate cleanser before I read the next two books. I don't know how to explain it but this was so thinly written. Lots of references to past books, a lot of repetitious expressions or situations similar to past stories, and then the thin plot line to hold the story together. Maybe this was a novella and I did not notice.

It was pretty stupid of Robert at the beginning to treat Future Girl so poorly despite his otherwise good intentions. It was also kind of Stockholm Syndrome-ish--two seemingly bad choices so she went with the lesser of the two evils. I recognize this was light chick lit but it was still irritating.

Plus, there were grammatical errors overlooked by me in other books (using I instead of me) and they were still present here. Additionally, once she refers to herself as Elizabeth Jones rather than Smith.

Sacrifice a lot of logic 😉 for the sake of time travel but....

'Forever Knight' pulled me in from the first page. I knew I would love the story after reading book one, 'Darkest Knight'. I had a hard time putting this book down. I had to find out what happened next. The way the storyline played out was full of adventure. I love Elizabeth's outlook on life. She definitely has a temper and she is the most caring woman I've met. I want my own knight, but then again, I'd probably end up with an ass. Robert had a few things to learn when it came to his choices and how he needed to adapt his way of thinking. I love how the 'Thornton Brothers Time Travel Series' is set in medievil times. The way I was brought into the scenery and times of brandishing swords, wenches, servants that truly rocked was awesome. I can't wait to read more. A great add to your tbr list. Highly recommended.

Forever Knight

Five stars she is a good time travel author. Her books may not be sensual but it is romantic. A lot of Action and it ties to the other books in the series.

Plot holes, Terrible MMC

I have no idea how all these reviews can think this is a good book. There’s major plot holes, and jumps in time from one sentence to the next where crucial things happen but aren’t explained.

The MMC is pretty much a terrible, waste of a person who doesn’t redeem himself by the end. The decisions he makes in regard to the MFC are inexcusable, horrible and honestly make no sense whatsoever. The MFC could ever care for him is beyond believability. And the relationship development is completely non existent.

I’d say only the 2nd and 3rd book so far of the the first 5 books are worth any time at all. I’m done with this series as I can’t imagine the writing is going to improve enough to continue on.

Fantastic Time Travel

The 2nd book in the series has the brother,Robert Thornton learning about
Future women when he finds Elizabeth naked in his bed! As the insults fly between the two, and Robert does what he feels is best to keep her safe, he finds that there is much more to Elizabeth than he realized!
You will find yourself rooting for the couple as love conquers all!!

The Thornton Brothers Time Travel series is perfect when you just want to relax and read something with a touch of whimsy and romance. Are they perfectly writtten? No. But I don’t really care about that. I don’t expect my authors to be geniuses neither in grammar, nor in facts. They just need to be storytellers and entertain. And that’s what this book was to me, light, enjoyable, entertainment.

Forever Knight

A great time travel romance! Lord Robert met his match when he met Elizabeth, who was from the future. You could read this as a stand alone but you would miss the stories of the other brothers, which were great.

Great Continuation

I love the linking of the characters. Elizabeth shows to be strong. This means a lot to the bravery of women in any time.

Funny. Entertaining. Fiery Lady.

You would not expect how this book began. TIME-TRAVELER NAKED IN BED. If that doesn't catch you attention, IN BED WITH A WICKED RAKE. Got it now? If you want to know how this fiery lady and wicked knight falls in love with each other, you better start reading this book and jump back in time.

I devoured this in little more than a day. This one was a little more saucy than the others, but that probably because Robert is a manwhore. I loved the complexity of the characters, Roberts depth of feeling, Elizabeth’s roll with it point of view, Rabbie, Gavin, Janet, all fun characters.

I love the Merriweather Sisters/Thornton Brothers series. It may not be high literature, but it is a great series to wind down with in the evening or take on holiday.
