4.5 It Just Gets Better Stars

He could do anything, survive anything, but he couldn't turn away from Jazz. She would sustain him where every other drug had failed.

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of both of these authors, and I have been an even bigger fan of this series since i first read the prequel novella, Seduced. I fell hard for the boys of Oblivion and admittedly, Gray and Jazz's story is the one that peaked my interest the most. You have long time friends, unrequited (or is it?) love, and oh so much angst. I mean, does it get any more delicious than that? Not for me.
They've loved each other through everything. But what if this time love just isn't enough.

Gray has always been the quiet one of the guys. But you know what they say about the quiet ones, don't you?

Jazz first met Gray when she was just 14 and he was 16. After years of being in the system, Jazz was thrilled to be fostered by Gray's parents. All she's dreamed of is being adopted, having a family of her own. And the Jazz of the present, years later, holds on to that same dream. Only this time, it's not parents that she wants, but her dream husband, children, a happy life. And the only man that she can see that with doesn't seem to share her feelings. But oh how little she knows...
Deep down, he still had a niggle of hope that things could change. That one day she'd stop looking at him as her best friend and see him as more.

If you've read the novella then you know that months ago Gray and Jazz made a colossal mistake in their friendship...a threesome with Nick.
It was all about timing, she'd told him once. Without it, it was impossible to keep the beat going. And theirs was always fucking wrong.

Now many people may not understand why either Gray or Jazz agreed to something like that, but I did. Gray is in such a dark place, that when he sees what may be his one and only chance to have Jazz, he takes it, no matter how small it may be. And Jazz has loved Gray for so long thinking that he doesn't return her feelings that using Nick as a buffer finally allows her to have that piece of him that she's always wanted...if only for a few moments. But that one night, that one decision changes everything...

This is not your typical rock star romance. It's so much more. It's gritty and emotional and with just the perfect amount of angst.

I knew from the very beginning I would love Gray, and I was not wrong even a little. He's such a tortured character and my heart absolutely broke for him.

When Gray realizes that he may have lost any chance with Jazz after seeing something he wasn't meant to see, he turns his addiction for her into a different one. A much more dangerous one. He soon begins to lose himself in a haze of cocaine and music.

But Jazz is determined to show him that he's everything she wants, and now she'll stop at nothing to make sure he sees her as more than a friend.

This is very much a character driven story, and there's one thing that Cari and Taryn do a phenomenal job at; character development. Wow oh wow. These authors are incredibly talented and their ability to make you feel the characters' inner turmoil and emotion along with them absolutely blew me away.

The story is told in alternate flashbacks from past to present. I'm not typically a fan of that, however in the case here, it was done extremely well. And it also weaved into the larger picture of the story effortlessly. Trickle feeding Gray and Jazz's past to the reader in the way that they did as the story in the present progressed only made it that much better.

You really get to see and understand why both of them make the decisions that they do.

I adore a great friends to lovers romance, and this ticked off all my YES boxes.

While this book does have a HEA, it's clear that their story is far from finished, so I'm happy to see a follow up book for them. I can definitely understand why two books are needed for Jazz and Gray. Their story is just too much for one book. And I for one cannot wait to see how it all develops.

If you're a fan of this series, then this book is a must read. And if you haven't read it yet, and you like angsty and super sexy romances, then you NEED to check it out. While each book may be read as a standalone, I wouldn't recommend it. You really get a much better feel for all the characters if you read it in order, prequel included.

This series has been on my auto buy list since book one, and this book just goes to prove exactly why

There’s something about rock and roll that just gets to me….the lifestyle, the music, the characters….and Lost in Oblivion series is one of those rock series that keeps me entertained and very happy.
Twisted, is 2nd book in the fascinating series by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott – and I loved it!!!

Gray Duffy,
 photo 167e73b101a0f410ca167199f3eb9c32_zpsoebjfl8r.jpg

Oblivion’s sexy lead guitarist & Jasmine Edwards, adorable, lovable, quirky, talented drummer – at last….their own story is finally here!!! And I couldn’t be happier.

Gray and Jazz have known each other since their teens, when she was a foster child in his home. They have always had an incredible connection but the first time they got together resulted in some dark and serious shit. ……the famous threesome between Nick, Gray and Jazz in the prequel book, Seduced, started Gray’s downward spiral into drugs, drink and mindless sex – he loved Jazz and believed that staying away from her would be the best thing for both of them.
 photo a95df74a13258750249644ed252fea81_zpsgxjcuvtr.jpg
Jazz realized that she loved and wanted Gray only and despite the unwise choice they had made, is determined to get her man!!!

I really liked that the story alternated between past and present, which gave us an insight into Gray and Jazz’s history and relationship.

Admired Jazz for wanting to help Gray without forcing him to clean up his act but rather doing it in a supporting and loving way.

And when Gray is finally forced to do face his demons and overcome his obstacles…wow….it was gut-wrenching…..

One of the things I most enjoy about this series is how we get to see all the band members in all the books….they form part of each story which is absolutely fantastic. You get to see their music, their friendship and their love.
Another thing I love is the writing….there are some quotes that are just incredible…funny….original!!!
 photo a2d0255ae40fb422d30115c1608c3e2a_zpsyyqqpo9t.jpg
Jazz & Gray have to go through a lot of hard times before having their HEA…so happy they got it. They are such a fabulous and interesting couple…and can’t wait for more!!!!

My favorite quote:
“The way you feel about her is the kind of love most women dream of. That, my friend, is some epic Titanic type shit.”

A little background
Gray Duffy has loved Jazz Edwards from the moment she came into his life as his foster sister and she with him, too. Neither has ever let the other know this even though they acknowledge they care deeply for each other as foster siblings. They've just botched every opportunity to connect but now just might be the time for them to finally be on the same page.

Why I LOVED this story
What an incredible story! Poor Gray was understandably haunted by that wretched threesome he had to participate in with Jazz and Nick, him being more of the bystander. Using coke to cope might have provided temporary relief but it was a surefire path to destruction that could cost him both Jazz and Oblivion.

I was riveted from start to finish and the scenes between Jazz and Gray between the sheets incinerated the pages (do not read them in public!). You won't find a more fierce love than what these two have for each other and I was swept up into it like everyone else around them. Yes, there was a lot of drama but I was counting on it and it contributed beautifully to their romance and story. Alternating between past and present (then and now) was a brilliant device that added layers to the characters with each chapter.

The bottom line
I waited impatiently for this book and nabbed it as soon as it was available. Gray and Jazz's relationship may have had an unconventional beginning but their love and path to romance is pretty epic. It drained me emotionally, as I expected, and made Nick more likable, which was completely unexpected! Just perfect.

An alluring and poignant, sinfully sensual and gutting story wrapped by a beautiful rock ballad that you won’t be able to put down until the very last page and still want more.
“The way you feel about her is the kind of love most women dream of. That, my friend, is some epic Titanic type shit.”

Gray met Jazz when she was fourteen and was brought to his home as a foster child and he’s loved her ever since. Almost a decade later and all he’s ever been to her is a protector and friend because he hasn’t acted upon those feelings.
As far as he knows he’s been forever slotted in the friend zone. But the truth is, Jazz has loved him just as much for the same time. And she’s tired of him being so close yet so far away and out of reach.
“All I care about is making you mine”
“You did that years ago. All the years in between were us just getting it right.”

They’ve been like two magnets constantly flipping over without the opposite ends being able to properly align, the perfect song with the harmony and melody just a beat off, can their love be enough to get them in synch?
“He was the lock for her key. The hand for her glove… He was her everything. Still. Always.”

I was spellbound by Seduced, Rocked, and Rock, Rattle and Roll, books 0.5, 1 and 1.5 in the Lost in Oblivion series respectively, and addicted to Twisted with its flawless writing and the best rock performance descriptions I’ve ever read. But even those sizzling bits of sensual bliss couldn’t divert me from the overall plot in which these two halves of a whole had years of unresolved issues that needed addressing before they could lose themselves in happy oblivion.
“She was his melody. His breath and his heartbeat. His very life, and the reason he still wanted to live it.”

I loved Jazz since I met her. She’s strong and sassy yet vulnerable and even a bit naïve because just like Gray, she thought he didn’t want her for more than friendship.
“My heart leads me to Gray… Always.”

She had been scared to do something about her true feeling towards him, but once she made up her mind there was no stopping her.
He was her constant. The center of her life. Without Gray, nothing made sense.

My heart had ached so much for Gray. He has made Jazz the cornerstone of his life. It’s the kind of love that is completely swoon worthy but also unhealthy because his tortured soul felt he would never have her and had nothing to live for. And having nothing left to lose fell into a spiraling drug addiction with which he felt even less deserving of Jazz. I knew reading about him would be difficult but I never thought it would be so agonizing being in his head. To live with him through his drug induced highs and experience what drove and troubled him was nothing short of painful.
“Even his gorgeous perfect best friend couldn’t compare with a sweet white pile of powder.”

In the end though, it was so worth it when the book changed from sex, drugs and rock and roll to sex, love, and rock and roll because their love IS epic, and when push came to shove, they both faced their fears and each other.
“I thought one of my dreams had died… I never expected to get another chance. Now that I am, you can be sure I won’t give it up for anything.”

And even knowing that the road to recovery was a long walk ahead, they would walk it together.
He could do anything, survive anything, but he couldn’t turn away from Jazz. She would sustain him where every other drug had failed.

Jazz and Gray’s story was everything I expected from this dynamic writing duo and more. I’m not very familiar with their writing so I wasn’t sure how they would deal with raw issues. It could have either been the easier Disneyland version or the very difficult but real deal. I loved that they went for the later because otherwise I doubt it would have left me emotionally exhausted in the best possible way.

I must also confess I have a weakness for rockers because I’m a rock chick myself. So besides the love story I also I fully enjoyed how these two authors transported me to some of the best concerts I’ve been to with their incredible accounts and how their characters never veered from their musical natures.
“When the sweat was coursing down his face, the salt burning on his lips and tongue, and his fingers were climbing the frets, so fast he wondered how any skin still covered the muscles and bone, he tasted every note. Became them”

And have I mentioned the blindingly hot attraction and sizzling chemistry between these two was off the charts? They were like dry tinder waiting to be ignited into an impossible to put out blaze.
“Tasting her pleasure as he created it felt more like making music than he’d ever known before.”

“He whispered her name, the mystery and beauty of it, unable to hear anything anymore but the relentless beat of her heartbeat matching his. That was the only music he needed. The only one that still made sense.”

I also loved the secondary characters. Of course I had already met them in the past books, but for some reason I feel like I connected more with them in this one. Getting to know Nick, Simon and Lila was pretty fascinating. Where Nick had before seemed a bit of an ass, I now feel like he’s just a bit lost but is a decent person, Simon is just hilarious, and Lila is a ball buster! I enjoyed her role so much in this book I can’t wait to read more about her and her dealings with the band.
“You’re really that much of a ball sac, hmm? … I won’t call you a pussy, because pussies are damn fucking strong”

Each chapter alternates between past and present. So we get to know most details about Jazz and Gray’s history and what moves them into that constant push and pull. It’s also told from both points a view which allows us to have a rich and full range of emotions from both characters.

This is the second book in the Lost to Oblivion series, which can be read as standalone (it does rely on some past events but they are explained) and has its own happy ending but I still meant when I said this will leave you wanting more. I really can’t wait for Untwisted which is a novella featuring more of Jazz and Gray.

The books in this series have been kind of hit or miss for me, but thankfully this one was a hit. The tension between Jazz and Gray has been palpable throughout the series so far and seeing it all come to a head in this book made for a really solid read.

I'm going to start off by saying that I skipped just about every sex scene in this book. I didn't do it because they weren't well written, but because I'm just not feeling that scene at the moment. The plus side to that for me is that, even despite not reading the sex aspect of the book, I still really enjoyed what I was reading. It's all to common to fall into the easy sell of loads of sex and little plot line when you know that it sells, but that definitely wasn't a problem here. Twisted is a plot-driven erotic novel and not the other way around. The story flashed between now and then, so we really got a good picture of what formed the relationship between Jazz and Gray. It does get a little crazy at times, but I would be lying if I said that wouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get a little craziness from Oblivion. That is part of what makes me like this series. Can it be over the top? Without a doubt, but it is still done in a way where it is believable. Especially from a rock band on the rise to fame.

I do have one major issue though. I'll stick it in a spoiler for those who don't care to know though..

If it wasn't for the aforementioned spoiler, this would have been a solid 4 star read for me. That's a personal thing for me though, so take that it as you will. I'd still recommend this to anyone looking for a hot rock star read chock full of interesting and dynamic characters.

I'm having such a great time getting lost in Oblivion! I love this group of people and I wish I could actually hear them play. There's something awesome about a rocker book and the lyrics you get to see. And I can't be alone when I say that I'd love for Grayson to sing to me.

Anywho, I love Deacon and Harper's story, but there's just something about a friends to lovers romance that makes me all swoony. Gray has loved Jazz for years, but when do they get their shot? Why can't the stars align just right so they can have their HEA?

This is one of those stories where I fell even more in love with Jazz. I thought she was pretty awesome in Rocked, but she has very quickly solidified herself as my favorite character.

And Gray. That man did everything for Jazz. It's the kind of love you want to see when you look at others couples. It's the kind of love you want to experience. Minus the troubles these two seem to face because there has to be some sort of drama.

Am I the only person waiting to see Lila and Nick get it on? Because that's going to be epic. And if it isn't them, I'm totally lost as to who it will be for Nick. I think there's tension and I need to see something come from that.

On to Untwisted!

I curled up on the couch late this afternoon to start Twisted - only planning to read a few chapters tonight. Best laid plans and all that "jazz" quickly went out the window! I didn't move off the couch until I finished the book a short time ago! Wowza! Pretty sure this book scorched the eyelashes and eyebrows right off my face! Smoking hot burn-the-house-down sizzlin' chemistry between Gray and Jazz. So many wasted opportunities, wrong timing, and misunderstandings have conspired to keep them apart - only ever having admitted to being friends. Truth is - Gray and Jazz have been in love since they first met years ago when Jazz joined his family as a foster child. Gray immediately took on the job of her protector and warded off all the interested guys. And now, they play in a band, Lost In Oblivion, together. But problems within the band have tempers flaring as accusations run rampart. Jazz and Gray try to ignore the raging river of confusing emotions threatening to drown them. Misunderstandings lead to hurt feelings which lead to guilt, regrets, pain, and bad decisions. Gray makes a bad, life-altering choice one night that just may be the final straw for both Jazz and the band - one in which there is no coming back. Has Gray squandered away his one chance at claiming the woman he has loved most of his life - his one shot at making her his? And has he placed her life in danger by his actions?

Wow - so much heartache and regret in Twisted. The pain is palatable at times. This story flashes back & forth between past & present giving readers a clearer understanding of the strong unbreakable ties that bind Jazz and Gray. They are a team - always have been, always will be. But the team rules are changing now, and they have to figure out what it means for them as friends - as a couple - as lovers. They have to figure out how to let go of the past, take care of the present, and grab the little gold ring that will mean Jazz belongs to Gray forever in the future.

This is a great, HOT, erotic read that ignites the pages. Jazz and Gray are combustible when they get around each other. Raw, gripping, heartbreaking, Twisted carries readers on a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows while offering prayers for this couple that so obviously belong together. It's a long way from rock bottom to the top - Gray will feel the pain every step of the way, but he knows the love waiting for him at the top is worth every d*mn thing he owns. And Jazz? Jazz is the prize waiting at the top - always! A Page Burner! A Must Read!

Twisted is aptly named! It is a twisty, convoluted story of a forbidden love long denied only to be ripped from the couples grasp after finally being realized. Wow, what a gripping ride it was!

Oblivion just finished their first tour and are getting settled with their new label. They're set to start recording their next album but first their new manager wants them to take a writing retreat...in separate sequestered locations. And if they break the rules it could mean the end of their band. But Jaz has finally decided to take the plunge where Gray is concerned and being isolated from him is not going to work for her.

It has always been a case of wrong place, wrong time for Gray Duffy and Jasmine Edwards. First as foster siblings when Jaz had everything to loose, including the family she had always dreamed about. And then as band mates and friends, when in-the-moment decisions twisted already convoluted feelings. But Jaz is done letting life get in the way of what she feels for Gray. And nothing is going to stop her; whether it be well endowed drug dealers, snarky managers, unfriendly family members, or even Gray himself.

I absolutely love these muddled and blemished rockers of Oblivion! We first saw the dynamics of the relationship between Gray and Jaz in Oblivion's prequel, Seduced. That is also were the legendary threesome between Nick, Jaz and Gray took place which started Gray's downward spiral and gave Jaz the push to finally recognize her feelings for Gray. Technically, Twisted can be read as a standalone because the authors provide some good background information without bogging down the story-line for series readers. However, I'd recommend you reading the series in order. There is a lot of good scenes you'll miss if you skip ahead, including the mentioned threesome.

The story is told through alternating chapters of then and now, past and present which I thought gave a great insight to the relationship between Gray and Jaz. How it become, how it built, the hurdles they've overcome, and the deep-rooted connection between the two. There is no denying the chemistry between Jazz and Gray, then or now. I thought the authors handled the whole foster-sibling issue with decorum and it didn't come across as weird or anything, which having foster and adopted family members myself I was a little worried about. ☺ When Gray and Jaz finally gave in to that chemistry the pages sizzled! I loved seeing these two finally together because they were so gosh darn perfect. Cute, sweet, funny and downright sexy.

The future of Oblivion is on a razor sharp edge though and if these band mates can't get their act together the label, a.k.a. their bull-nose manager Lila, is threatening to drop them or even replace them. And unless Gray can manage to clean up his life and right the decisions he has made it could cost him not only his band, but his girl too, and maybe even his life. Twisted had everything that you could imagine a story centered around rock stars having. Drugs. Sex. Danger. Rock & Roll. Lust. Love. Angst. Anger. Drama. I am on tenterhooks waiting for Nick's story now, his sexy surliness captivated me from the start. It's going to take all of my patience to hold out until book four, Shattered, though. Wah! I can't wait!

Orgasm recovery plan...
The Lost In Oblivion series is one of my favorite rocker romances. I had been anxiously waiting for this book after getting that first glimpse of the triangle between Nick, Jazz & Gray in the previous installment. And can I just say, it was well worth the wait. Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott have been promoted to auto-click status by this fangirl. Their writing style is incredible, They are word wizards.

The book is written in multiple POV and alternating past/present as we get to know Gray & Jazz. They spent their teenage years together as foster siblings. They were best friends and shared their love for music. And then life happened and their world was turned upside down and they traveled separate paths until they were reunited as band members. It's amazing how this story is told in a way they keeps you on the edge, as you discover secrets that the other band members don't know. You will be holding your breath and biting your nails, afraid of the fall-out, knowing it's coming and hoping for a miracle. You will be leaning, straining, wishing, cussing and desperate for the stars to align and remove the obstacles that seem to keep interrupting what was meant to be.

It's so obvious, right? Are they the only two people on the planet who can't see they belong together? Will that unconditional love that has carried them through so much pain and disappointment be strong enough for even more weight to be added to it? How much is too much? Just because you love someone more than life, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are the best thing for them. Especially if you feel that they deserve better than you. Are they confusing their best-friend love with love-love? Just because he's always been there for her, is she confusing his protectiveness and support with a different kind of love? Is one of them feeling friendly while the other is feeling sexy, or do they feel the same way about each other? Will Gray do what he feels is right, or what he feels? Will he listen to his heart, or his heads? Yes, that was supposed to be plural because they both want her, but is that what is best for her? What's best for the band? Will the other band members approve if they move outside the friend-zone? Will the fans approve? Will they listen if they don't? Do they want each other more than the band if forced to choose? And...um...what about Nick? You know what you need to do to get the answers, start clicking, you won't be disappointed.

As the third book in the Lost in Oblivion series, Twisted had some seriously high standards to live up to and did it ever! Written in a different manner than the previous three, I adored the way that it went from current day to the past, filling in many holes in the back story of Gray and Jazz.

Before reading this book I was less than impressed with Gray aka Vapor and more than a little pissed once I figured out in Rocked that he had a drug habit after the band tossed out Snake for that very reason. BUT, and this is a big but he most definitely redeemed himself...for the most part....in Twisted. The love that he has for Jazz and what she does because of her love for him was so beautifully written and hot, oh man, are these two HOT together. Once they finally admit their feelings for one another the sex is scorching hot and I do mean Florida summertime kind of hot! And that final scene in the bedroom? I was in tears, happy, mushy tears, but it was awesome.

Jazz, oh man, that woman has balls bigger than any of the guys and she's such an awesome character. I adore her and wish that she was real and someone that I could call my friend. And yet she's so sweet and tiny and has had a rough time growing up. I loved reading more about her and her back story that just broke my heart, which made that scene in the bedroom that much better.

I would be remiss to not mention Nick, the one character I love to hate, but even he redeemed himself enough that I don't hate him any longer. He gets his day in the sun in the final book of the series, so I'm sure there's more to him that I haven't guessed yet, but at least now he's done a few things that make him more empathetic in my eyes.

The writing, the story, the characters and this whole series are so very well done that anyone that doesn't read it are missing out on the best rock band romance series going.

Advanced copy received from the author; I just didn't get a chance to write up my thoughts until now (sorry!)

I loved it. Gray and Jazz's story was a good one, and I hate Nick less now than I did at the end of the first book :)

I enjoyed the insight into Jazz & Gray's history with the "then and now" style of writing. It made their codependence easier to understand.

Though the sex is steamy (and there is lots of it!!), that's not all this book is. There's a real story under there. Like in the first book, there is a problem that is messy and hard to deal with, and again, the writing rises to the occasion. Taryn and Cari don't let Gray off the hook, and they don't glorify his weakness. Gray is made all the more human for it.

I read Jazz as a strong yet vulnerable character, wanting to save Gray without letting him save her -- I think their long history of her being the rescued has shaped her in that respect.

Did I mention I hate Nick less now? His support of Gray and Jazz was nice to see, and though he'll never get over his perviness (we hope) he seems to be learning how to be a friend.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read, and have the other books in this series on my "must have" list.

Bring on February!

This book is Gray and Jazz's story. Unique in the past/present format we are able to not only see how the two work through their current relationship, but we get to see where it all started. It is no secret going in to this book that Gray has a problem, the issue is that Jazz has no idea. Their great chemistry continues to blaze through this book but, the fire could be completely doused by Gray's actions.

At one point I was so frustrated with Gray. He really was a jerk and honestly he didn't grovel nearly enough. More importantly though he is trying to be better and hopefully things will go well for them.

I am thrilled that we get a continuation of the band's story as well. The issues continue but the band is on a much better footing now than it had been before. Simon continues to be his hilarious manwhore self that you can't help but love and the ever brooding Nick is really growing on me. His character is evolving and I can't wait to see what will happen in his story.

Gray and Jazz get their HFN and the sneak peak at the end of the book has me excited that we are getting more of their story.

Holy hot a$$ guitar player! Gray Duffy has always been the mysterious member of Oblivion. In the previous books, he was alwys the more reserved and quiet one. Having never really completely bonded with the rest of the guys, he was always the reliable member that was solely focused on making music with the band; but his true obsession is and always has been their drummer, Jazz.

After the one night that tested their relationship and put them in "love triangle" status, he's been devastated and it finally reached its peak in Twisted. Gray spirals out of control causing strain on the band and testing the long time friendship he and Jazz have had since she was placed in his family home while in foster care.

Jazz always considered Gray her best friend and the only real family she's ever had. But she finally realizes that her love for Gray goes beyond that and she's ready to admit that to herself and prove to Gray that she's ready for more.

To see these two FINALLY get together was the the hottest "hallelujah" moments I've EVER come across and the most memorable in the Lost in Oblivion series, so far. Gray's reserved nature is the total opposite to the man he is behind closed doors. He was the sexiest, hottest and dirtiest of the bandmates. Yet, with all his naughtyness, he was still so sweet, gentle and totally devoted to Jazz.

The friendship they forged over the years resulted in a bond that had so much angst and loyalty and it provided for a much more powerful and steamy love affair. It was everything I could have asked for.

And for my fellow Oblivionites, we still get plenty of Nick's broody and grouchy self; Simon's slutty and humorous ways and occasionally get to basque in the sweet aura of love that Deacon and Harper deliver with their mere presence.

I absolutely love this series and fall more and more in love with them in each book.

Jazz and Gray have known each other since his parents became her foster parents at the age of 14. She's always loved Gray but didn't want to pursue him for she didn't want to lose a family she really wanted. Fast forward seven years later and they are both in the band Oblivion. Gray has loved Jazz to but she always friend zoned him. Can these two finally be together? Will his secret destroy what theyhave? Great read.

What can I say .... this series ROCKS! 5 ROCKER stars from this reader!

Lost In Oblivion has VERY FAST become one of my favorite rocker romance series! Twisted is gritty and emotional and with just the perfect amount of angst to keep you GLUED to your kindle. I couldn't stop and you dont even feel the length of the novel, because it is not short by any means! But it's PERFECT! AND, even though we do get our HEA, these two have more story to tell! :)
The book is written in multiple POV and alternating between the past and the present as we get to know Gray & Jazz. These authors did a phenomenal job of weaving the past and present into the story. There is no way this story could have been told without knowing the past elements, so I was super stoked to read how flawless it all read!

Jazz first met Gray when they were both just teenagers. After years of being in the system, Jazz was thrilled to be fostered by Gray's parents. All she has ever dreamed of is being adopted and having a family of her own. They spent their teenage years together as foster siblings. They were best friends and then life got in the way and their world was turned upside down and they traveled separate paths. Until the day their paths crossed once again and they became part of the same band. Today, Jazz has the same 'family' dream, a husband and children! And yes, the dream husband she wants is Gray! Does Gray have the same dream? Jazz doesn't think so, but oh could she ever be MORE wrong!!!

This story is not an easy breezy story. Far from it. But it is AMAZEballs! Every page keeps you on the edge of your seat and you may forget to breath during huge chunks of the story! YEAH, it's that intense. These two have made a lot of mistakes in the past (um .... Nick!) but everything happens for a reason and there is a reason for everything! Hold on tight, because when you read ALL the ups and downs and drama these two go thru in life, it is a WILD ride! It has been a long time since characters have caught my heart and made me feel soooooo much for them! And that is all on Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott! These women are story telling Gods, I tell ya! And when these two kids take a dive out of the friend zone, it is sizzling! And let me be clear, they don't care where, they dont care how or how much LOL they're just HUNGRY for each other so their gonna feast!

If you're not reading this series, START IMMEDIATELY!

•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross ’s performance is always stellar! Each book gets better as they get to know the characters better :) I love the way each character shows the subtle nuances of emotions and moods as well as subtext in the story I would have missed had I just read the book. I love the way these two work together! I can't wait to listen to their next performance :)

On Hold No Longer

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is Rocked. The second book is Rock, Rattle & Roll. This is the third book. I can't wait to listen to Untwisted!

Jazz has always loved Gray. Since she first met him as his foster sister when she was 14 and he 16. But she also wanted a family of her own... And his parents were the best she had ever met. Nothing good lasts forever. Or at least that is the way it has always seemed to Jazz... At least not for her. She is tired of waiting though and has finally steeled herself to make a move. Will Gray give them a real chance as a couple? Or does he not feel that way about her anymore? What has been off with him lately? Where does he go when he sneaks off all the time?

Gray has loved Jazz from almost the first moment he saw her! She was off limits... Too young, too innocent... And his foster sister. And now the guilt from that awful day and what Brent did stands between them still. It was all his fault. Can she ever forgive him? Does he even deserve forgiveness? Will she finally consent to be his? How can he possibly be worthy of her?

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy mild taboo contemporary rockstar romances with unconventional adopted families, self depreciating humor and lots of drama to go along with all the steamy love scenes :)

I don’t normally read new adult books but after accidentally stumbling onto the first book and falling in love with the characters, I had to learn more about this talented band of misfits as the fumble their way to stardom. But reading Gray and Jazz’s story reminded me of all the reasons why I don’t read the genre.

I have no problems with the writing or the plot. The authors are very talented and have done an amazing job orchestrating the series. What bothers me most about the book is the content. Living the rock star lifestyle comes with fame, popularity and the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll mantra. I really have a hard time stomaching the fact that two people who are in love and want each other, but spend time in the arms of other people. It was never prominent in this book, but there were a few close calls where I didn’t think Gray or Jazz would make the right decision.

There’s also a lot of angst in this book that bothered me and really rode the line of my comfort zone. The book goes back and forth between the present and Gray and Jazz’s past. I thought this was a brilliant idea, but I kept struggling with the harshness of their pasts and the promiscuity level in the book.

I do give props to the authors for spotlighting a serious issue with Gray’s drug addiction. It was a presence on its own in the story and I thought the use of it was executed brilliantly. But as the angst continued to mount and with two of the baddest boys left with stories to tell, I’m afraid my time on the Oblivion train has come to an end.

This is a series I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the rock star/new adult genre. Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott are wonderful storytellers and despite my issues with the story, I still enjoyed the heart of it.

Gray Duffy is a complicated man. He resonated with me specifically because he does have many layers. Throw in an awesome rocker girl bestie that hits just the right buttons for him, sprinkle some raw sexual tension and you have one flipping masterpiece. I LOVE this story. It continues the series seamlessly. Taryn and Cari have created a very unique little part of the world that I can't get enough of. :) Be prepared to hose down your reading device because this book is HOT. Do yourself a favor and pick up this little gem. You won't be disappointed. :-p

I'm fence sitting on this one since I found this to be a bit of an average read

Gray and Jazz have shared a deep connection and loyalty to one another since their teens but due to circumstances and timing they never got to explore their relationship further beyond friendship and foster-sibling status. Now they're in a band, on the rise and up, Jazz is finally going to go after Gray but he is fighting his own demons- namely addiction.

Although this was quite the engaging read, Gray and Jazz's story just didn't leave a mark for me. One of the main reasons was the writing style through use of flashbacks in between chapters, which is honestly one of my biggest pet peeve unless executed well in a story and... this was not the case here. For me personally, I found most of the flashbacks to be more interruptive to the storyline rather than insightful. Some of the scenes could have been edited out/summarised and incorporated to present time. I understand that there is a kinda big revelation in one of the flashback which explains more of Gray's behaviour but it was told so late in the story that by the time I read about it, I've already spent majority of the book being annoyed and frustrated at Gray so... whiplash. The romance was meh, I get that Gray and Jazz belonged together but I did not feel it. Seriously though the only character I came to like at the end of this book was Nick.

Gray and Jazz's connection reminds me a lot of Lo and Lily's from Addicted to You series- from their unwavering loyalty and devotion to the other since childhood, time they spent not in a relationship to the addiction issues. Both do have flashbacks but honestly, Lo and Lily's I found more endearing than annoying.

I read this book as a standalone and the storyline was easy to follow.

Terrific Story & Audible Listen🎧 Jazz💘Grey Rock it!

Twisted
Lost in Oblivion Book 2
By: Cari Quinn, Taryn Elliott
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross

I am loving this series, Oblivion rocks and so do all the characters! Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott have become two of my favorite authors, I love their writing style and the stories and characters they create. Their books captivate me from start to end, I lose myself in their stories, escapism at its best. “Twisted” is Jazz and Gray’s story, Jazz is the bands drummer and Gray plays rhythm guitar. The two have history and it was great to find out all about it. Timelines alternate back and forth in this book, as the authors fill us in on Jazz & Gray’s back story as well as their current story and how they finally admit their true feelings to each other. Gray is struggling with inner demons and other issues that not only jeopardize his career but others as well. I adored Jazz even more for not giving up on him. There is a lot of drama going on with the band as well. I liked how Lila is managing the band, she is hardcore and doing an amazing job. I am looking forward to learning more about her down the road. I highly recommend this book and the series, there is never a dull moment, plenty of drama, angst, hot rockstars and a rollercoaster of emotions. Thank you Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott for another amazing story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They continue to bring these characters and their stories to life, giving each their own voice and personality. I am loving how they are portraying these characters, they do an amazing job capturing their emotions, passion and attitude, really humanizing them. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen🎧

Either something went wrong in my brain or something went wrong in the book, because I was just not feeling this.
I actively disliked Gray (not because of the addiction, it was the moody, self-centred assholeness that put me off), Jazz felt like a shadow of her formerly written self (where was my hyper, rainbow girl from Deacon's book?), and there wasn't a flicker of chemistry between them.
...

I thought after the previous two books I was gonna smash this.
Foster siblings grow up, join a rock band and allow themselves to be in love?
Yes, yes, YES.
But instead it was just kind of exhausting; too much drama in my low-drama rockstar romance.
And Simon's up next, the drama queen of all drama queens, the feral sex-pest of the group.
*sigh*
He better take me my surprise or I'm gonna lose my faith in the Taryn Quinn dream team.

4.5 stars - This was a romance a decade in the making and I was there for it. Jazz lived with Gray's family when she was a teenager and she has loved him forever. When Gray's older brother tried to r*pe Jazz, he sided with her and cut his parents and brother out of his life, Jazz moved on and years later they find one another again. They've now joined the band Oblivion as a package deal, "just friends" but Jazz is determined to become more but Gray is hiding a big secret. There were a lot of ups and downs in this story and it was super emotional, it contained flashbacks of when Jazz and Gray were teens and how their relationship progressed. Lots of emotion and complications, but also a lot of love.
