“My safeword,” she said hurriedly. “We forgot to discuss my safeword.”
“This isn’t some amateur scene at a BDSM club. There’s no negotiation. There is no safeword. You signed that away when you joined The Enclave.”

Jaime Shepard fantasizes about being bound in chains—her heart, body and soul the possession of a Master who won’t hesitate to take what he wants. Unfortunately, exploring dreams of sensual submission has taken a backseat to the daily grind of life, yet she never feels more alive, more vital, more herself than when engaging in a scene at one of the local BDSM clubs.

When the sexy, mysterious owner of Asheville’s premiere underground BDSM club makes Jaime the offer of a lifetime, she jumps at the chance to experience The Enclave, a secluded community dedicated to the passionate realization of a 24/7 BDSM lifestyle. Against the backdrop of a luxurious mountain resort, Jaime’s rigorous, full-immersion indoctrination begins. Erotic discipline and intensive slave training push Jaime to the very limits of her boundaries and force her to reach deep inside to discover the grace and inner strength necessary for true submission.

One thing she isn’t seeking is love—but it might find her just the same.

Very good book with heavy elements of BDSM. The chemistry between the main characters was real, genuine, and once I started the book I wanted to finish it. The plot was weaved with complexity and intensity, but there was also a sincere romance beneath it all. overall this is a very good book, and although this was my first read by this author, I've already checked out some of her other works.

Highly recommend!

3.75 stars!

This is the story of Jaime and her training.

This book is totally different than what I was expecting and therefore my review will be different than usual.

Although No safeword is well written, there was a desperation in it that didn't help me to connect with Jaime. I actually start understanding everything better once she started falling in love. It's weird to admit that I read a book that I couldn't connect to but I really couldn't put it down either. I needed to know how the journey of Jaime would end up, how she would change and if she would find happiness.

Jaime is a totally different heroine. She knows what she needs and she goes for it. She has set her mind and she fights to prove that she can succeed in this training. I admire her stamina but I couldn't understand her desperation and where it was coming from.

The interactions among the characters in the book were really in the BDSM style and it was quite intense presented. They weren't over the top and they weren't the focus of the book but they were strong and present!

The end of the book was the first thing that start making sense to me. Maybe it was my state of mind that didn't realise how deeper this book is. Maybe is my lack of knowledge over the BDSM community that didn't get this book as I should. No matter what, I cannot deny that it was well written and had me hooked!

This is a really great read. If you like a heavy bdsm story then you will love this one.

When Jaimie finds herself broke she's offered the chance of a lifetime. Two weeks of being a slave with the chance of entering it full time. She jumps at the chance as its been one of her fantasies for years. However can she deal with all the rules and restrictions??

I love how we get to read about the different masters & mistresses. The other slaves certainly added to the story.

I really didn't know how this was going to end. Would she pass the test? Would she accept to stay on or run back to her apartment??

A truly great read that got me all hot and bothered. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Re-read January 2022.

Honestly, a TBR as long as my arm and I'm re-reading books again! That said I own and need to read the rest of the series. I plan to read the remaining books over the next couple of months and it didn't seem right not to refresh my memory of Book #1.

Whilst there is a love element to the book the main theme is off surrendering one's ego and learning to submit fully to the will of another. Spanning a two week period, we experience the joys, pleasures, challenges and trials that is the life of an Enclave house slave. Jaime, the FMC, is submissive to her bones but one who, at times, struggles to submit fully and give over her free will to others.

Her responses, reactions and inner battles felt very honest, her journey was not always easy and there is a scene where a master crosses the line. Whilst this may be triggering to some the author didn't dwell on it too long, or delve massively into Jaime's head after the fact, allowing the reader to move on too. I quickly warmed to most of the characters in the book, Danielle felt a little cliched but I could live with that.

The story held my attention throughout and I very much enjoyed the book. Whilst I fully bought into the attraction between Jaime and Mark I did struggle somewhat with the rather instalove aspects of their relationship. I didn't see enough of them interacting with one another to be convinced of anything more than a crush or lust. However, I wouldn't have wanted seeing more of Mark and Jaime together to be at the expense of her training scenes.

I would recommend this for fans of erotic BDSM romance.

I was given this ARC from the author for an honest review.

First off as people who read my reviews know that I'm a huge Claire Thompson fan and with this book it did not disappoint!
I'm not going to get into much because explaining this book would just end in me spoiling it ;)

This book blew my mind, there was so much packed into this that I couldn't turn away, I kept reading and reading because it was utterly brilliant, everything was explained so perfectly that I felt that I was there experiencing and exploring myself.

The characters in this book were amazing, they were much believed and each back story to them was great, at first I was a bit worried at first because there were so many names to faces and I had the fear that I would mix them up or get myself confused as to who was who and what they specialised in but each person with their gift and story was well planned out and unique in their own way.
I loved some and hated one with a damn passion, but what I will say and hats off to Claire for making me feel rage that I wanted this character Danielle to be real and give her a taste of her own medicine!! I couldn't stand her just as she was brought into it, I knew she would get on my nerves.

The nitty gritty naughtiness happened to be Claire's finest quality in my opinion, it flowed effortlessly and it wasn't jammed packed with it to make you wanna skip it because there was so much, each scene was different and hotter than the previous, I nearly wet myself with the needle and knife play hehe I like reading edge play and all but reading this made me clench my legs together in pain and longing, I loved that it wasn't just focused on actual sex but more focused on bdsm scenes with equipment that would make a nun blush...

The whole plot came together lovely and it was fast packed but not with feeling rushed, I think overall Claire has done another amazing job with this and I feel that it's gonna be a major hit!
Thank you for letting me read and review this...

This was a DNF for me. I get that fantasies go further than what people would truly want to experience and that writers, in this genre especially, go very far past realistic lines but there are just some things that are too much. I find anything that makes me, as I relate to the MC, feel unsafe is a big turn off. There are certain actions that are stimulating and then there's abuse. This book begins with one of the main characters repeatedly slapping the female MC. That's way over in the abuse column to me. Not having a safe word is clearly not safe, not sane, and not consensual.

I would not have read anything else by this author but I downloaded this as part of a set. I was hoping I could find something redeemable in one of the books. Books 2 and 4 were obviously going to be too much for me just from the blurbs. I read books 3 and 5. Having read those, I will never intentionally read more by this author.

I do not live in this type of world but I read a lot and have researched some. There is no way this author knows what she is talking about. She clearly has not done thorough research and certainly never lived this life unless it was in a way that was unsafe for her. Again, I understand creative license and going further in fantasies but when you get to harmful behavior, people need to understand this behavior is not OK. Women need to know if they were in a situation such as some of these, they need to get out and get help. They don't need to just accept it.

In my opinion Claire Thompson is an author a reader can generally count on to produce a well written book, but not always a particularly unique story. Her stories run the gamut from sweetly romantic to dark, consensual to non-con, and virtually all (at least the one's I've read) involving BDSM. It seems to me she tends to write books that are variations on a theme - this one being a training facility run by people with lots of money, who are mostly dominants, that train deserving submissives desiring to be slaves. A sort of, Slave Cinderella meets her Master Prince, if you will. This book was sweet, with a bit of bite, all consensual and a happy ever after. I liked both Jaime and Mark. It isn't my favorite by Claire Thompson, but definitely not my least favorite either. A solid 3 star read for me.

I'm not sure how I found this book or author but I'm sure glad that I did .. The author is new to me and I will definitely be looking for more of her books.. I bought the audio as well, I'm hoping it's narrator does the book justice..

To be immersed owned to the extent that you give everything of yourself, not just body but mind and soul, to not one but many, to let them have total control over not only your person but all aspects of your life is a huge commitment..

I enjoyed the subtle differences in this book to others I've read.. I enjoyed the full immersion into a life that most would balk at.. I enjoyed the growth of the story and the explanations even if it is fiction. I'm sure that there are people out there that live such a lifestyle..

Well done..

First off, I received a copy of NO SAFEWORD in exchange for an honest review. I was actually tagged by a friend in a facebook comment on this authors page...and for that, I am extremely thankful!

Ok, with No Safeword...it needs a warning, really. I'm gonna give it to you straight. If you DO NOT like heavy BDSM then PLEASE, PLEASE don't rate a review based on that, because this book is so far into the BDSM arena...There is an underlying romance, don't get me wrong...but the focus is on becoming a stronger, more courageous submissive through this INTENSE 2 week training session..full immersion...no second guessing, no wishy-washy play...just full on hardcore 24/7 D/s relationships.
The writing was awesome. I can only expect that the author knows of what she's writing. She did it so masterfully. The words paint such pictures I was able to "see" Jamie in the many positions she was forced to endure.
The characters were awesome..I could feel the anger in Sir Lawrence...the love Sir Mark was capapble of...the cattiness of Danielle and the sweet, kind soft Katie...
What a fabulous story. I loved it...and can't wait to read more from this author!

Pardon my graphic description, but I feel like Claire Thompson just put her hands down my pants, inserted two fingers and pulled me into her book for an erotic ride. So to say this book captured my imagination and drench my panties is putting it lightly. I rate this book 4.5 stars, rounded to 5.

Hopefully, you have enjoyed one of those book moments where you morph into a character and actually experience the same erotic pleasure that the character is experiencing. That happened very early for me in this book when the main heroine (Jaime) meets the owner of the club (Anthony). He tests her submissive tendencies to see in she is suitable for a position he has in mind for her. Let's just say it was electrifyingly erotic. Not only did our heroine Jaime pass the test, but I'm pretty sure I passed too. At least my wet panties said I passed. :D

The book was good throughout, but I especially enjoyed the early chapters and the ending chapters. There was definitely a Story of O feel to this book and that was a huge plus for me. Ms. Thompson really developed her characters so their actions made sense and I loved her vivid descriptions of the compound where the story took place. Sign me up for slave training under Master Mark. (Pause to turn up my fan or some electronic device.) I don't think I give anything away when I say the ending was written for the romantic in me. So sweet, so romantic!

So why 4.5 stars and not a full 5? Like the proverbial break-up line..."It's not you it's me." It wasn't the author's writing, it was me. Let me try to explain... I recommend this book to bdsm fans who are romantics at heart.

Claire Thompson’s “No Safeword” is very well written and an exceptional example of BDSM literature. Thompson is no stranger to erotic writing and has produced an amazing story in “No Safeword.” This book is not for the faint of heart! You will blush and keep reading! Jaime Shepard knows she was born to be a submissive. Every muscle and nerve in her body tells her this is who she is and always will be. One evening, she heads to The Garden, an underground BDSM club, and doesn’t have enough money to pay the cover charge to get in. While her body is responding to the lifestyle sounds coming from within the club, Mr. Anthony, the owner, sees the submissive spark in her and allows her to enter the club without paying the cover. He immediately senses her submissiveness on a deeper and level and invites her to consider joining The Enclave, a BDSM community that embraces a 24/7 slave/Dominant lifestyle. Once Anthony senses her submissive nature and desires, he invites Jaime to become a candidate for The Enclave and consider joining the community. She is immediately intrigued and aroused…she submits…

Once Jaime arrives at The Enclave, readers are in for a hot, erotic ride. We meet the Dominant/slave relationship on a whole new level with characters we fall in love with, like Master Mark, and characters we love to loathe, such as Danielle. While at The Enclave, Jaime must endure, or enjoy as is her case, the slave/Dominant lifestyle. She experiences toys, devices and instruments, the lifestyle indoors and out, with both males and females, and is punished. She is pushed against her boundaries and begins to have feelings for one of the masters. We see Jaime grow as a person and as a slave while at The Enclave for her two-week training period. “No Safeword” is an HEA with the possibility, or hint, of a series…hmm…one could hope! With a reminder that “No Safeword” is intended for mature readers age 18 and older, readers should be advised they will encounter a hot, breathless ride!

I'd give this book zero stars if I could. There should be a warning that this is not how BDSM is, and if you believe this is how BDSM is, run! Run fast and far. The author has no clue of what BDSM is or what it's about; has no clear experience of living the lifestyle whatsoever. Maybe this is her own written out fantasy, and if so, many, if not all that live and take safety measures seriously, would steer clear or educate her. There are numerous red flags that are thrown throughout the story, that i lost count after a while. I was intrigued to see if the title was going to be a play on words, and I was sorely mistaken. I understand this is a book, but it is a dangerous misrepresentation of what it's all about.

Claire brought her A-Game yet again with No Safeword. I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
And I loved it! The communal dynamic Claire created within The Enclave is mind blowing, totally different than any other BDSM story I've read thus far.
The power exchanges that occur are hot and the passion is off the charts!
Master Mark could give a few other book Dom's a run for their money...

I’m pretty sure I got this ebook free from an author newsletter awhile back but I just want to make a note on my GR that this book is as problematic as the title suggests and not my cup of tea at all. The new covers are nice. I love dark romance, but this book is not it. It’s just bad. DNF.

Mild and lukeworm at best, devoid of any real passion. So cliché it's almost painful. The pace was so unbearably slow that I was close to abandoning it halfway. Certainly not what I hoped for.

At first I kinda of struggled with this book, because I for one could never understand living a lifestyle like this...24/7

With that out of the way, overall this book is really good. Jamie is down on her luck and feeling crappy when she decides to go to the local BDSM club for a little play and release. Unfortunately she's short on the admittance fee so the desk gal pulls her aside to let others through before going to get the owner to see about admitting her without the entire fee.

Master Anthony comes to speak with Jamie, and somehow he just 'reads' her and knows instantly that this maybe a girl perfect for their private compound the Enclave. Master Anthony throws his pitch to Jamie, gives her a few options and then sends her home to think about it. Of course she accepts his offer, and thereby begins the journey of the book.

Jamie is taken to the secluded mountain compound of the Enclave to be a slave girl for several Mistresses and Masters. She'll endure two weeks of training at which time she'll be offered a full time position of a slave girl or asked to leave. The training is strict and rigorous, and of course of one the full time slave girls has it out for Jamie and tries to sabotage her progress.

Although Jamie went with the intend of embracing the lifestyle and becoming a full time slave girl, Master Mark happened and she wants more...but she doesn't want her feelings to come in the way of earning a full time position.

1 Not-Your-Typical-BDSM-Story-Star ★
I think my main gripe with this story is how everyone seems to f#%k everyone. There was no real master-slave relationships. Just to get initiated into the club Jaime to parade her naked self in front of all the masters.

“Though it was only ten on a Friday night, the place was already in full swing.” -Isn’t that the time that parties are in full swing?

-1★ Jaime (who is very young) falls for a man over 60... really?! Why stop there? Why not stop at a 94 year old man? I mean since we’re on a roll already of enhancing the ridiculous.

-1★ This book reinforces my dislike for girl on girl sex. It’s so boring! Only 25% into the book and there are two lesbian scenes. God help me...

What kind of a name is Jaime (J-ay-me)? Jamie, maybe. But Jaime? Why not Jefnnier, or Chstrina? (-Grrr... I guess I’m in one of those moods.)
After looking up the name, turns out, it’s pronounced ‘hai-me’ because of it’s Spanish origin. ‼️F#%K ME‼️

I didn’t just not like one thing. I disliked everything. The way the story was written , the characters and even the plot. I think my trip to the dentist was more enjoyable. I had to DNF this book at 30%.

Wow! No Safeword literally blew my mind. I read it in a couple hours. I became a zombie at work thinking about what was gonna happen next. It was really addicting. I don't know if I would have been as brave and courageous as Jamie. I don't think I would have passed the welcome test.

I loved this book because there was such a way that the author expressed the feelings of Jamie it actually made me feel like I was there with her. I could feel her sadness. Her pain. Her fear. The "secret place" was so well done with so much detail I could imagine myself being there.

Now that that's out of the way I have to tell you this book was hot. Like melt your panties hot. I loved the Masters and their strict rules and attention. I don't know if I'm a right fit for their program but I'm glad Jamie was because it was such an amazing experience to read about.

Highly recommend this book to any BDSM lovers. Just be warned there is no Safeword to tear you away from this addicting story!

Having read several books by Claire Thompson previously, I was very excited to have a chance to read an early copy of her newest work, No Safeword. Jaimie fantasizes about being submissive, but the feelings she gets when sceneing at a local BDSM fall short for her. All that changes when she has the oppurtunity to join The Enclave, an secluded BDSM retreat that will help her experience life as a 24/7 slave over a two week period. Soon Jaimie is living out all of her deepest and darkest fantasies and battling the growing feeling she has for Master Mark. Thompson writes realistic BDSM that is not for the faint of heart (no BDSM lite here!) with interesting and well fleshed out characters (including a secondary character you will hate with a passion) and a truly satisfying HEA.

An arc was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Almost didn’t finish but stuck it out. The storyline was way to slow as if the author had to explain that the ocean was blue in order for you to believe it. The author put so much detail into the storyline that it makes you believe that since this is a series you will need to know about all these other characters. In reality this is only one story line of 2 characters, one that doesn’t understand that you just signed everything away for 2 weeks and acts shocked and hesitates every time someone tells her to do something. The other is a rockstar dom that ends up falling for this girl and is still in training to be a dom. this one was not for me.

This is what one of the doms does to the main h:

1) Refuses to listen to her side of things, or, indeed, let her speak at all. He flat out accuses her of lying,

2) Canes her 20 times in anger, hard enough to leave welts that bleed and later scar, and hard enough to make her pass out,

3) Leaves her bound, gagged, and alone, locked in a cage without telling anyone, even though she suffers from claustrophobia.

Here's what happens to him:

1) Mandated counseling,

2) Probation (from the club; there are no legal consequences, which there should have been),

3) "I'm sorry, we good?" "Yep." "Okay, then."

Enough said...

This was an interesting book. I felt like the author knew a lot about BDSM almost to the point where some scenes made me uncomfortable because of their content. But I always love books that make me feel something, I particularly like how half way through the book we get to see not only Jaime's point of view but also Mark's. I enjoyed the budding romance between the two of them and enjoyed how the book ended.

A very good book representing a secret BDSM estate and the people who live there.
Jaime is looking for something more in her life and meets Anthony who sees something in her and offers her a 2 week trial.
There is plenty moments at the Enclave that cause her a lot of anxiety but also a feeling of having found herself.
This book was hard to put down, it was that good.

This was actually a really good read. I liked the look into the bdsm scene and thought Jaime was a solid main character. The writing was also really good and kept me engaged.
March 6, 2018
This is one of the more intense BDSM books I have ever read. They practice RACK though the slaves were under the impression that they had to take whatever was dished out and their only choice was take it or leave immediately and permanently. That was a part of the mindf***. This book is really good but should probably not be read by survivors who still have ptsd. I found a trigger I thought I had dealt with was still there just took more to trigger it. That being said I still would read this book again and look forward to the rest of the series. The book was that good. Strip away all the bdsm and at the core there is still a beautiful love story. To write both well is a skill not many have. Most are stronger at writing one or the other. I wasn't sure about it the first few pages, seemed like just another story about a young broke woman who wants into a bdsm club but doesn't have the full entry fee. But I made the journey with her. The reader gets sucked in and either takes the journey with Jaime or the collection of Doms.
