"GIRLS" AND GHOSTS Mizuki and her friends go to the country, where they meet and try to help a ghost pining for his lost love. Then, for the big Christmas dance party, Mizuki and Nakao are recruited to help make up for a shortage of girls--by dressing up as girls! This turnabout for Mizuki, however, proves to be the least of the complications that flare up when the whole ploy proves too successful!
A bit messy with texts all over the pages as everyone had a lot to say about the ball. There's again a bullying theme and some of the guys are dressing as girls, it's a good introduction for future fan service.
It was nice seeing Kayashima get a bit of a spotlight in this volume. Looking back, I do think the ghost arc could have been more fleshed out, but this is overall a solid volume. The dance arcs is one of the more memorable ones for me. So much tension!
Rereading this as an adult, I can’t believe how unbelievable it is and yet it is so much fun walking down memory lane. The pining in this is top notched. Besides the ghost story in the beginning, it’s all about preparing for the dance. I’m excited for the dance. 4/5

School Dance!! The boys school is grouping up with the girl's school. There are not enough girls. Then some of the boys are tapped to be girls and make up the difference. Of course Mizuki (a cute boy) is to be one of them and she will do it because she is going to be paid (so she can buy Sano a birthday gift!). Dancing is not as easy as it is made out to be. And some of the girls are less than supportive (unless you count Rio, Dr. Umeda's sister). Will Mizuki get to dance with Sano??
I figured it was time for me to get back to this series and finish it so I might be swapping back and forth between manga series for a little while until I’m done. I did enjoy this one, it just hasn’t wowed me and I needed a little break, but I think this was a good volume to come back to.
I binge read all of Hana Kimi. It's easy to see why that is so easy once you get into the second chapter of the series. Hana Kimi is filled with complex character moments, tension, and fun. All the characters come to life and its hard to put the story down. I've read my fair share of manga over the years and will continue to. I have the feeling that Hana Kimi will remain one of my favorites. I can't wait to get in a reread.
Ah yes, the obligatory ghost story & once again, Mizumi in a dress. For a girl pretending to be a boy, she sure gets all frill-ified frequently. I am also amazed @ the number of people willing to keep her secret. But, in the end, the drama of the unspoken first love and the sweetness of figuring out who you really are keeps pulling me in. I will probably read the whole series.
Whoa, being possessed by ghost. well I'm reading it at this kind of hour (02.51 am), alone in my room with a little bit goosebumps here and there. Not to mention that outside my room is so damn quite and dark --"
Yay! Tension and love keep escalating! Sano and Mizuki are so close it hurts! Admittedly, the plotlines are a little ludicrous, but that's not exactly a bad thing in shoujo manga. I also was kind of expecting more from Mizuki in a dress, but I'll take it. She and Sano are adorable.
This manga was interesting. the school dance is an exciting event. Mizuki has a lot on her plate in this book, but she does a good job balancing it. For awhile I was worried about the photographer, but I think he is a pretty decent guy. Can't wait to see what happens next.
It's okay. New situations help but the over all problem is staying the same when I think there should be more progress with that aspect of the story. Otherwise it's seen as milking the plot. Which... it is already.
