The premise may not be terribly original, but it certainly has potential for an ongoing larger-than-life sci-fi series:

“The very near future: We discover the secret of faster-than-light travel. Suddenly, the universe is wide open to us, all thanks to genius Saul Fredricks, who made the breakthrough and is touted as the Einstein of our era. With the new technology, we hastily refit the nearly complete first manned Mars Explorer spacecraft with faster-than-light engines and boldly go where no man has gone before. A new hope is felt across the planet as the IGS Discovery sets off. But Saul has a dark secret. You see, he’s not the genius everyone believes him to be. He was merely the first to successfully interpret a signal we received from outer space in the 1940s. The message contained every bit of technological knowledge from an advanced alien civilization… and a warning...
It is too late for us. Use our knowledge and flee your world. They are coming…

Sounds intriguing, doesn't it? So how come the last time I met my comic-book buddy downtown, he dumped this one on me together with a few other recent floppies he no longer has any use for? Well, the awkward execution may have something to do with it – this one somehow manages to feel stiff and muddled all at once: stiff in the sense that the faces of all characters look like masks and the panel arrangements are surprisingly rigid throughout (considering the ground-breaking nature of the plot); muddled in the sense that for an issue that is all setup, it does very little to establish the characters and their concerns. In fact, the storytelling feels rather half-baked all around, to the point that half of the time I wasn’t sure what all those mask-like little faces were going on about.

And yet… if you take a step back and look at the pages of this comic book from just the right angle, they look downright gorgeous. So yeah, if staring at comics from the distance is your thing, this one might be for you. Can't say I'm hooked myself, though.

Za početak deluje kao arhetipska SF priča - ništa pretenciozno, ništa WOW...
Artwork je dobar.
Prosečna ocena za početak serijala. Nastavljam sa čitanjem...

I definitely feel like this would've done better in the regular book format versus the comic book format. Then the writer would need to find a way to make the characters distinguishable, because let me tell you this art style is doing no one any favors. I never really got a good sense of who anyone was, I could tell that there were some shifts in power dynamics but there were just small sentences thrown around rather than adding up to be any fully fleshed out characters with any sort of drive or direction. And I do get that this is the first single issue so it's limited on space and time and needs to do a lot. But it just kind of felt like this one was both rushing the time it had and stalling to try and build suspense. Ultimately just not for me.
