They are rivals, they are cousins.
What a twisty and interesting surprise that book was. I expected a romance between the two main characters but never all the drama or the insane past.

Amy and Noah hate each other in a venomous way since they were kids. Noah can't stand her and never forgets to point that out and Amy keeps reminding him that he will never be a real part of their family because he is adopted.

But when they end up living together in the same apartment, all bets are off and the unthinkable happens, and no i'm not talking about them falling in love.

I liked this story very much and it's really great but it could have worked better if it was more lengthy. A few more pages here and there would make a big difference in my opinion. Some things take time and i would definitely love to see more of their antics at first or their relationship's built up, why so hasty?

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- His name on her back. WOW.
- I liked their interactions.
- It was very emotional.
- What happened to Amy was written in an amazing way.
- Seriously a crazy woman is holding a gun at you and you comment on the outfit she wants you to wear?? ugh!
- Also i would love some more character development. It really felt like Noah loved her only because of what happened and he felt guilty.
- Dual POV.
- Their parents past was interesting too.

I am sitting here, thinking what to write in review for this book.. Yes, THIS book.
I am clueless, I am speechless I don't think any words can do a justice to THIS phenomenal book.
Can we give a 10+ Stars? IT IS A 10+ STAR READ

Michelle Horst has once again done an amazing job in this Genre, Dark Romance. I mean she has completely nailed it. It was so dark, so raw, so gritty yet sensational that I am still dazed by this book and the emotions enfolded in those pages. The impact this book created around me was so strong that every time i opened it, I was totally engulfed into it, being a stranger to the world around me.

The story starts with Amy and Noah, who are cousins, but always fight like cats and dogs. They have this unreasonable rivalry between them since childhood.

Amy is the 'Angel' to her Dad, always protected and pampered, her parents' only child.

Noah is the young, smart, charming guy who is self-dependent and on the top of every girl's wishlist.

But Noah is an adopted kid, and Amy uses this as a weapon against him, never missing a single chance to taunt him while Noah tries every possible way to give her back right into her face. But their relation is cute and loveable for me :)

One day Amy is forced to move with Noah in another city for her studies which is too tough for her as she hates Noah, well the feeling is mutual from Noah's side as well. But something strange happens during her stay at Noah's apartment which is too dark and raw. Amy is threatened to be killed......
"I actually took a leap of faith and he threw it back in my face! I will never go to Noah for anything. I’m done with hoping there could be more than hate between us."

So without giving too much away I just want to wind up this review, though i have a lot of things to say. This book is so full of emotions, its a complete roller coaster if sentiments. One moment you're in awe, the other you are on the edge of your seat, but you'll not be able to put the book down.

It was such a page-turner i just couldn't resist to devour it all in one day. Amy and Noah's relationship was very unique and strong.

All the books by Michelle Horst that I've read so far have this quality that they are so 'to the point' and interesting, keeping the pace normal and making it a complete page-turner. She avoids including unnecessary descriptions, character appearances and adding senseless details just to add pages to the book. (But when she adds character, you'll be thrilled) Okay Okay i'm not spoiling :)

Her books are very concise and the selective words woven into emotions is just beyond perfection. This woman is truly gifted.

Loved this book beyond the words can express. Its one of my All Time Top Favorite.

Highly Recommended to all those weirdos like me, who love DARK BOOKS.

4.5 Family Ties Stars

You know how you can talk bad about your family but no one else had better say anything? Yes. That's how families work. We know our relatives are crazy, but nobody else better say a word about it. Only we are allowed to tease, torment or pick on our family.

Noah is a a few years older than his cousin, Amy. There dads are brothers and as family, they are thrown together a lot. Noah is a nice kid who knows he is supposed to be nice to his younger cousin. But she's younger. And a girl. And a pain in the ass.

Amy is a brat. At least when she was a kid. She teased Noah because he was adopted. And so sets the tone for their Cousin-Hate Relationship.

Fast forward a few years. Amy is ready to move out of her parents house. But her family is cautious with her. And they have good reason to be. Their family has a history of needing caution. (This is a sequel of sorts to Dark Boundries). Her dad and uncle arranges for her to live with Noah. It's so much "safer" for her.

What Amy and Noah don't know is that safety is illusion. Danger is closer than they think.

I've been warned not to upset you.

Amy and Noah have a lot of perception problems. They each think they know how the other feels. What the other is thinking. Neither gives room for growth. Maturity.

As events unfold, they realize that there really is a thin line between love and hate. Sometimes that line blurs and skips.

I really liked Noah. He is a confident guy. He deeply feels. Deeply regrets. And deeply wants to make up for his transgressions.

...there's no such thing as being good enough for someone, you just have to be the best possible version of yourself.

There are so many plot twists that I can't tell you much of the book. I want you to be as surprised as I was. Know that this can be read as a stand alone. I can't wait for the next one.

3,5 stars

Cruel Boundaries is the follow up of Dark Boundaries. The main characters of book 1 are presents in this book, and even if the plot doesn't revolve around them, it was a nice addition to the book.

We follow the life of Amy, who's forced to move in with her cousin Noah. Cousin that she hates, and the feeling is mutual.
They stop at nothing to show the other one how strong their hatred is...

I never saw the twist coming and let me tell you that it was well done. Hell falls down on Amy and what happens after that is a succession of CRUEL events.

Every thing changes in her world, and she will find an ally in someone she would have never trusted before...

You will feel every kind of emotions in this book.
Michelle Horst is really talented to make you feel hot then cold in a matter of seconds.
I felt angry, joyful, sad, hopeful, and even disgusted at some points.

I rated it 3,5 stars because as a lover of dark romance, I thought that it could have gone further in the "dark side" but it is my very own opinion and it didn't prevent me to enjoy this story.

I received this ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This series was quite a shock for me at first, because I came to know Michelle Horst as a sweet author that writes touching, heartfelt love stories. Needless to say, she’s turned a huge corner with this story, and it’s dark, gritty, and absolutely gripping. It makes you realize that not everything is what it seems, and sometimes darkness outweighs the light.

Noah and Amy are cousins who have a love/hate relationship, although the hate overtakes the love by leaps and bounds. Noah was adopted and Amy uses that against him in arguments, therefore making him attack her with all he has. What seems to be true hatred on both their parts, turns out to be a huge misunderstanding, leading into something they never saw coming.

Without giving too much away, this is a true story of survival, personal growth, and finding a love you never knew possible. People may try to tear you down, but it’s what happens within you that will save you from destruction. Truths are discovered and lies are revealed, which makes and breaks these characters apart. Absolutely tragic yet beautiful story, and I was completely engrossed the whole way through.

This is the story of Kristine and Garrett’s daughter Amy, and her love/hate relationship with Noah, the adopted son of Justin and Riza. Back when Amy was younger, she smarted off to Noah about him being adopted and since that day, the two of them have fought and not gotten along. Now Amy’s going to college and their parents want her to live with Noah to help keep her safe. They still fight and then something serious happens that will change the paths of their lives forever.

I’ll just say, the event that happened caught me off guard. It’s a seriously WTF moment. I had a hard time connecting to Amy and thought she acted immaturely and childish. I liked Noah well enough and was glad he was there to help Amy. Then something else happens and I wasn’t even sure where that came from. The story ends in an okay place and sets up the next book in the series, Twisted Boundaries, which appears to be scheduled for released later this month.

Overall, this was an okay book to me. It’s ends at 78% on my Kindle with previews of a couple of other books by this author at the end.

RATED AN AWESOME 5 STARS!!!

This story is about Garrett and Kris daughter Amy and Justin and Riza adopted son Noah. Amy constantly reminds Noah that he is adopted and that is the beginning of Noah picking on Amy. Cruel Boundaries was an AMAZING book! I loved the love/hate relationship Noah and Amy have. How at the beginning of the book they could not even be in the same room with each other to they dont want to leave each others side. Certain events take place that bring Noah and Amy closer and it was beautiful how Noah helps Amy through her traumatic events. This book is a must read and I can't wait to find out what happens next between Noah and Amy. I'm really excited for the conclusion of their story in Twisted Boundaries!

Amy and Noah despise one another

Excerpt:
If she wants to take my mom and dad, I'll take her doll. I'll take everything she loves. I'll make her pay for being so nasty to me.

It comes to a head when Amy moves in with her older cousin, to meet Brad. But could Amy use Brad against Noah. Maybe use him as a weapon to score more points? This is what it had turned into. Them both double crossing one another and seeing the worst in one another, that when something awful truly does come to light regarding Amy, he can't possibly accept it. It was just another game...or was it?

Excerpt:
I actually took a leap of faith and he threw it back in my face. I will never go to Noah for anything. I'm done with hoping there could be more than hate between us.

Brad turns out to be far from what anyone knows and guilt consumes Noah. Vowing to never let Amy be in danger or get hurt again, he would finally lose the childish anger and resentment (I can only imagine was jealousy) go for good.

Excerpt:
Brad is a cruel monster with no boundaries.

But the plot and storyline had me hooked....with dark scenes equally laced with just the right amount of hot sex and HEAs. By no means is this a fairytale...so don't expect one!
Much like Michelle Horsts first book (Dark Boundaries) the dark, crazy and sometimes plain disturbing nature of the scenes showing the pure evil and sadistic nature of Brad and his sisters mindset. But it also kept me turning the pages.
Anyone easily offended? This book is NOT for you! But if your not, well please one click this novella here and I can't wait to bring you the next review instalment to this series (Teisted Boundaries) ASAP!

Final Excerpt:
Every day I feel a little more list than the day before. I just want to hide from everything and if Noah is willing to give me that place to hide, then I'd gladly take it.

***** 5 Cranky Stars *****

Dark, gritty, and absolutely gripping.

Not everything is what it seems and sometimes, darkness outweighs the light.

Noah and Amy are cousins with a love/hate relationship. In the war between love and hate, more often than not, hate wins.

Noah was adopted, something Amy constantly reminds him of. It chips away at him and when he responds, it is always in kind.

The hatred, however, masks misunderstandings and secrets. Revelations lead to something both never saw coming.

In order not to spoil, this story is about personal growth and survival. It's about finding a love you never thought possible and courage that's buried within.

This is beautiful story: passionate, tragic, and it kept me engrossed from the start to the finish.

Highly recommended.

I received an ARC for my honest review (and I’m so happy I did!!!!!)

And she does it again! This time with the next generation… and it’s great!

The characters from Dark Boundaries are the parents in this story, although these books can be read as standalones. But why would you want to do that? Read them both… and fall in love with this story as I have. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, so all I will tell you is you won’t see the twists coming, you won’t be able to hide from the emotions that Michelle, once again makes you feel while reading, and you will not be able to put it down until you are finished!

If you find yourself comfortable with Dark Romance, give this book a try… if you’ve never read Dark Romance, give this book a try… if you want to get lost in a story, give this book a try… if you need to feel each and every one of the emotions you’re capable of feeling, give this book a try. See what I’m trying to say? Give this book a try, you will not regret it! Xo

Cruel Boundaries. Wow. I was not prepared for this at all. I have no idea how you were able to write this without having a breakdown. Amy and Noah. The second part of this series and was darker than the first book. Lines were blurred in this one and I felt for both characters. Yes, they had a love-hate relationship and enjoyed fighting and bickering. But what had happened was beyond anyone's control. Noah should've realised that family should come first and that Amy needed him when it mattered the most. I was just glad that differences were able to be solved, mistakes were forgiven and once again, love was found. This was a beautiful novel which had a few bumps and bruises but I absolutely loved it.

I really wanted to like this book... Unfortunately, a lot of it just didn't make much sense to me. The story was kind of all over the place and seemed very rushed. The characters weren't developed enough for me to connect with, much less care about.

That being said, the story had the potential (with a little more time) to be really good. Hopefully the next one will be a little more fleshed out.

You hate her.
You hate being in the same room as you.
She’s annoying.
You hate looking after her.
But you always do what your Mum and Dad tell you.
But you don’t have to like it.
And you don’t.
She gets under your skin.
And she’s so cruel, so terribly cruel, always reminding you that you will never be really family.
Your parents will never really be your parents.
You will never really belong.
You don’t care that she is only eight years old.
You despise her.

She’s your cousin Amy.

You have always known that you were adopted, but Amy always reminding you of that fact since you were a little boy stays with you. It eats you from the inside out. You have nothing but pure hate for her, and now in adulthood, you will always make sure that you get under her skin and pay her back for all the hurt she caused you all those years a go.

But what happens when it all goes wrong?
What happens when Amy is threatened and you don’t believe a word she says?
What happens when you take her words and throw them back at her because you want her to hurt?

Amy is taken.
Kidnapped.
Held against her will.
Not knowing if she will survive her capture or not all Amy can do is pray that she will survive this?
All she can hope for is that Noah will believe her and save her.

Will Amy be saved?
Will Noah realise that Amy was telling the truth?
Will Noah ever get the chance to tell Amy his sorry?
Or will Noah be too late?

You will just have to read this amazing novella to find out.

Like Dark Boundaries, we absolutely loved this novella. It’s tells the story of Kristine and Garrett’s daughter Amy and Justin and Riz’s son Noah that we meet in the first novel. We get to see the old characters from the first novel, but primarily this novel is about both Amy and Noah. It’s about their hatred for each other, and what consequences lay ahead of them both when blinded by hate and desire for payback. It’s about their trust and desire and need for each other when the hatred blinkers are taken off. It’s about love finding it’s way in the unlikeness of places.

Again it’s dark, gritty and at times highly confronting emotionally, but well worth the read.

Michelle Horst has yet again produced another spectacular read with Cruel Boundaries that will eave you wanting more. And we definitely want more.

A definite 5 star read.

I'm struggling right now to come up with the most perfect word for this phenomenal book. This is definitely one of the few books where my mind has just been blown away. Bam-wham- gabush. It took my breath away! I am truly stunned by the greatness that is Michelle Horst! Those familiar with Michelle's work will be shocked at just how dark and dangerous this book really is. But even in the darkest parts of this book you find one of the most heart warming love stories I've seen written in a long time!

After Dark Boundaries, the story of the Macht family continues. Noah and Amy grew up as cousins. He's adopted. She's born into the family and she never lets him forget that. As they get older, their feud escalates. But after things said among friends gets taken in the wrong way, their lives unravel quicker than anyone could imagine.

Thrust into chaos, Amy and Noah must learn to survive tragedy, grow in their newfound love and respect for one another and overcome obstacles fate seems determined to throw in their way.

Read this book! It's a dark and twisted beautiful piece of literature you will not be able to put down and will leave you craving more Michelle. I'm a Michelle Horst addict and soon, you will be too!

I don't know where to start...........

This book is phenomenal like heart wrenching, dark, gritty, raw, emotional and oh so and soul destroying.

I was totally surrounded by the characters, each giving me that emotion that broke me every time a twist took over and I never actually saw it coming. Rollercoaster of feeling that made me laugh and cry a lot!!!
Talk about cliffhanger........

Amy & Noah have the kind of annoying relationship that they just hate each other. Amy does all she can to be nasty to Noah and he takes it all and gives it right back. You can almost, I mean almost hate Amy for everything she does but somehow I just can't get that hate for her.

Neither one of them saw the turning pointing that made them both take that unexpected step.
But, then neither did I.

I love that this book wasn't predictable and flowed naturally.
My heart was shattered because neither did I expect that huge twist!!!!!!

Michelle, you are beyond talented with your writing, the way the words flow and embodied me and all my emotions was just beyond amazing. Please don't break my heart anymore in book 3 lol.

Cruel Boundaries is the thrilling, twisted, heartbreaking but beautifully brilliant new release from Michelle Horst.
This book has had me crying, gasping for air, screaming at my kindle and smiling like a loon! Very few books can send you flying through every emotion possible but this book covers the lot!

I'm finding it really hard to review Cruel Boundaries because I really don't want to give anything away! This is purely a book that must be read so you can fully experience the masterful journey Michelle takes you on.
The storyline is tough, its deep, its dark and its terrifying but its also filled with love and hope and ones adventure for trust! The book is fast paced and seriously will have you hooked.

And don't even get me started on that ending....5 amazing, intense and captivating stars!

wow this story continues with the Macht family what they have already gone through blew you away, but this one takes it up a level. Noah is Rita and Justin's adopted son and Amy is Kris and Garrett's natural born daughter have grown up as cousins, you would think they had already been through nothing else would happen as they deserve to be happy ever after but this is a real roller coaster ride, you won't believe what happens. Michelle has done a truly amazing job with these she gets you right in there with the emotions, the twists and turns you will get lost in this story, another must read.

This novella is almost as good as Dark Boundaries! The drama is off the charts! Of course the drama is dark and believable hence the four strong stars!

Amy is Garett's daughter and she's all grown up! It seems she's destined to suffer in some of the same ways her mom suffered. Her adopted cousin Noah is the reason for most of it. He chose to believe his best friend and not Amy. After suffering painfully and needlessly (Amy), Noah is devastated to learn Amy was telling the truth! Prepare yourself to be pissed off!

I believe this story would have been a five if it was a bit longer! Yep I'm greedy!

This is a novella in the Boundaries Series. You do not need to read the first to read this one. But if you haven't read Dark Boundaries you are so missing out.
This novella revolves around Noah and Amy. They have this love/hate relationships that leads into nothing but trouble. Its a very good read even with it being a short it gives you a lot & leaves you say WTF many times.
It is also hot and steamy.
I must add if you have trouble reading dark reads do not grab this. It does take you to a dark place.
Now if you do. Make sure you grab this and let me know what you thought.

Even though I enjoyed this novella tremendously, I found it not as good as the first book, Dark Boundaries. I think the thing I struggled most with is how quickly it kept bouncing between the dual POVs. Now with that said, please don't get me wrong...Cruel Boundaries was sizzling and Michelle Horst has me hooked and panting for more, so I am looking forward to diving into book 2, Twisted Boundaries!

I basically ate this book... I couldn't wait to read the sequel of "Dark Boundaries" since I finished it... So what to say about "Cruel Boundaries"? It's a very sexy read, which makes up for the cruelty mentioned in the book. And it made me think of a certain writer who was complaining that she's not able to write sex scenes a few years ago - very well improved, Michelle! *lol*

Noah and Amy have always had a dislike of each other but as adults forced to live in the same apartment. Things go well until one of Noah’s friends Brad threatens Amy to be nice to Noah. When Amy tells Noah, what Brad said and what happened the threat becomes real and Noah realises that he does want to protect Amy.
When the threat turns real and Amy wakes in hospital not remembering anyone she slowly remembers and her and Noah become closer, although when Amy finally remembers she pushes Brad away and runs to the city.
When Brad finds Amy, she decides to give him a chance as she can’t fight the feelings she has for him. Once again only this time they are both attacked by Brad’s sister, going against both their families when they want to help her Noah vows to protect Amy no matter what.
With the ending I can’t wait to see where the next book goes – although they can be read as standalones, some of the characters from Dark Boundaries are involved and helped with the storyline.

A lot of dark subject matter here so be warned (possible triggers). Read it in one sitting in a couple of hours - couldn't put it down. There's a lot going on in this book and some curve balls I wasn't expecting (due in part because I hadn't read the first book in the series, this didn't spoil my enjoyment of this book). The main story ends on a HFN, before you are given a brief new cliffhanger ending
Good value for money, currently free on Amazon, story ends at 58% and is followed by extracts from the author's other books.

The plot had potential but the writing is absolutely horrendous. It feels like a wattpad story. The chapters are so short and there is no scene building. To top it off it was too fast paced. Things happened too quickly.
