What would you do if you knew someone was going to be murdered soon? Would you help them, even if you didn’t know who the murderer was? Cara Daniels finds herself in this position.
In this first book, Cara discovers that her gran has to save Donald Ackroyd from being murdered within the next 24 hours. And if that isn’t enough of a shock, Cara also discovers Gran is being assisted by an angel called Edward.
Gran asks Cara to help her save Donald’s life. Cara agrees to do so. It’s not long before Cara discovers Gran’s ulterior motive for requesting her help.

I'm an avid fan of mystery stories. I started reading Agatha Christie novels at an early age. My favourite fiction detective is Poirot, I love his fussy ways and his attention to small details. I love the TV series, 'Murder She Wrote' and have watched every episode. I like working out who the killer is, and what the clues are.

I live near Leeds, Yorkshire, which is in the north of England. My two daughters live with me and they are understanding about my passion for mystery shows! I've now discovered 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries'.

I've been wanting to write my own mystery stories for years - and now I finally have.

Donald's Death (Cara Daniels Cozy Mystery #1) by Gillian Larkin is a short story that includes angels, murder attempt, mystery and good fun. It is the start of a series where an angel assist in helping stop murders. It looks like it might be a cute and fun series! This book sure was, good surprises, twists and it was just a short story! Great job.

Any books that have a paranormal story to them just call me to read it. This was an interesting take on angels and trying to save someone from being killed.

It was a very short story that I think would have made a great novel. As always, I recommend anything that Gillian Larkin writes!

I see a spark of the old television program QUANTUM LEAP in this series plot device. Aided by Angelic informants, Cara, and in this case her Grandmother, works to solve and stop murders before they occur. An interesting twist is that this is done not so much on the behalf of the intended victim, but more so on the part of the perpetrator: saving a soul from the penalty of having committed a wrong.

In this particular story I see an homage to Agatha Christie and two of her early great titles: THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD, and MURDER ON THE LINKS.

DONALD'S DEATH has an ending twist that even Dame Agatha would be proud of.

"Gentle"

Another short story masquerading as part of a series. The word that comes to mind is 'gentle'; a touch of humour, soft and cuddly main characters and the epitome of a comic book 'baddie'. A straightforward plot with a gentle twist here and there and oh gosh, we've covered forty pages already. A quick read that doesn't challenge the brain over much. If you want something to read during your lunch break, this will work; you may have to warn the boss you'll be ten minutes late, certainly no longer.

A short, fun, enjoyable read. I particularly liked the twist on the paranormal aspect involving angels. Cara Daniels and her grandmother assist an angel named Edward prevent a man's death. All Edward knows is that what time the man will die if they don't intervene. It is up to Cara and her grandmother to figure out the specifics. I love the interaction between Cara and her grandmother. The twist at the ending was unexpected. I'll be reading more in this delightful series.

I read it in 45 minutes. It was quick, fun, and interesting read. Gran and Cara needs to save a person from being murder with the help of an angel. An excellent reading and I highly recommended it. I will read the other books in the series.

I really enjoyed this short story. I just wish it was longer. It had a great storyline. I hope the next one is longer.

Not a very good title. Quick read, not an obvious killer, the main character is not yet likeable, not as enjoyable as some of the other series.
