Can you ever really know someone's true intentions?

In THE FLING, 22-year-old recent nursing graduate Amy is headed to Greece -- much to her parents' chagrin. They want to keep her home in Arizona where they can keep an eye on her. Amy wants adventure, though, and quickly falls for her gorgeous Greek professor, Dimitri.

When Amy finds out that her Greek god is married, and meets his beautiful wife, Lydia, she is torn between her attraction and respect for their marriage. Then when Lydia makes Amy an offer she can't refuse, she struggles with the possibility that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Despite her concerns, eventually she gives in to Lydia's encouragement, and Amy and Dimitri's passionate affair is everything Amy has ever dreamed of. What starts out as a breezy summer fling, however, becomes a struggle for happily ever after when the lovers are faced with the ultimate betrayal. They must learn to trust again in order for their love to survive, but is it too much to ask?

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. OK Ms. Lawson, you asked for it.

THE FLING was an enjoyable read. I loved it! Here’s why: I had read only a few books categorized as erotic or explicit romance in my lifetime—usually not my cup of tea—so I did hesitate a day or two before diving right in, testing the waters. This book was not what I expected. Yes, there were some vividly described sexual scenes, but there was so much more to this well-written story. Believable characters, interesting locations (want to go to Greece?), subplots, tension, fast-pacing, twists and turns, and SURPRISES! I had not anticipated this level of suspense or intricacy of the plot.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes spoken by the protagonist, Amy.

“But she had given me more wine . . . alcohol was my truth serum.”

“I had read books with female characters that talked of swooning; I always thought it was made up drama.”

I was drawn to the major characters, especially Amy. I think you will cheer for her and her struggle for independence, though the mother in me wanted her to make different choices at times. Just when I thought I had the story sequence figured out, the next event predicted, (at one point I was certain I knew how it would end) along came another intriguing twist. Read it! I think you’ll like it.

Where to even start? I was sucked into this story from the very beginning, I wanted Amy to get everything and more that she ever dreamed of. Once Dimitri is introduced into the story it got hot! Some simple flirting turns dangerous and I just loved every single second of it. I loved how Amy wanted to live her life and Dimitri was trying to help her broaden her horizon's any way he could. Who knew he'd help her explore so much more than studying abroad. Things heat up quickly and Lydia, Dimitri's wife, kind of creeped me out and I wanted to know what the heck she was planning. I was all over the place..one second hot and bothered by how well Dimitri and Amy connected, nervous when Lydia suggested certain things, and then completely baffled when Amy answers the phone! I won't say why because that would be a spoiler, you'll have to read it and find out yourself! Of course the program comes to an end and I was sad to see Amy have to leave but not for long. The twists and turns this story takes drove me crazy! I needed to know what was happening, why it would happen, and how Amy was going to cope. This story was amazing, I loved every word and I think Elle did a great job capturing the way these characters felt. Definitely a 5 STAR from me!!!

I too was provided the book as an ARC to review and I wasn't sure what to expect. I tend to venture more into the erotica genre than erotic romance which I tended to view as more light hearted for some reason. I have to say it was a good surprising and quick read. Well quick if you are like me and want to know what is going to happen immediately. After Amy finds her independence somewhat early in the story, it is very easy to get sucked in. Her excitement about being in Greece and her willingness to see that experience as an adventure was fantastic. There was a chance that it could have taken a cliched or less fulfilling turn but I was pleasantly proven wrong as it plodded forward in somewhat unexpected but unapologetic twists and turns. Even though my overactive brain saw one possible outcome before it manifested that still didn't play out the way I imagined and I was very very happy about that. I could compare it to lots of novels and stories but that wouldn't really be fair. It's fresh and lovely and I greatly enjoyed it. The end is one that will make you tear up if you are remotely sappy. Great job Elle.

When will I learn NOT to assume I know what to expect in a tale when I am halfway through it? The Fling by Elle J. Lawson takes us from the halls of higher education to the coast of Greece with one recently6 graduated nurse heads for a conference on medical aid around the world. Nowhere did the brochure say the professor in charge who looks like a Greek god or that he would make young Amy get all creative with graphic fantasies about this older, married man. Dimitri is not blind to the attraction between Amy and himself, the heat level is combustible, and fanning the flames is none other than Dimitri’s wife, yes, that’s right! How can either of them do what Lydia wants? Isn’t it a little odd to be encouraged to commit adultery by the potential victim of their lust?

Too bad flings never stay simple, or just a fond memory, for every action, there is a reaction or consequence and for Dimitri, Lydia and Amy, that consequence is life-changing as this triangle of lovers faces an uncertain future and the instability of one person who has the power to crush what they have created.

Elle J. Lawson knows how to sear each page with passionate lust, sensual connections and one of the most unusual twists to a story I have ever come across! The best part? She does it in such a way that it feels sadly real, as this tale plays out with a touch of a “small world” story, a lover desperate to give one special gift to the one she loves and the dramatic actions that take place after the fact. Yes, there are steaming and explicit sensual scenes, but they fall far into the background as this tale unfolds in a maze of events that flash past, leaving the reader’s heart racing to catch up! Spice, intrigue, desperation and deep emotional connections, they are all here and Ms. Lawson makes them magnetic reading. 4 Stars

I received this copy from Elle J. Lawson in exchange for my honest review.

Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Lately, I seem to keep finding books that are written in the first person. Normally I dismiss first person writing because it is not my thing. For some reason, I kept wanting to keep reading further with this book. I'm glad I did.

No synopsis and no character breakdown - you just need to know it was a fun, easy read that, although written in the first person, is highly enjoyable.

Last note - editing in this book has far exceeded other books written in the first person. There are always smaller errors, but nothing horrible like the glaring your/you're, their/their/they're or, the one that will make me chip a tooth one day, conceited/conceded.

I read in another review that the story was not memorable, whereas the sex was. I found this funny, as to me it was the story that set apart this romance. In my eyes, Lawson's strength lies in characterization. Her protagonist comes across as young and inexperienced, yet forceful when she needs to be. And I particularly applauded Lawson's bold choice of making the male protagonist older than her. This led to interesting tensions and twists, that would simply be impossible in a more conventional setting.

Lawson's unconventional choices culminated in an unexpected, bittersweet ending, that still managed to celebrate the love between her two heroes. In short, an impressive debut and a unique book.

I liked this book even though it was outside my normal genre. Ms. Lawson has an interesting, if not a little creepy, story arc, and the heat between Amy and Dimitre steams right off the page. Bravo on a job well done for your first foray in the publishing world!

was interested in this book since I read the blurb. I love reading about Greece and connected with the main character when I found out she loved Greece as well. The plot was unique and interesting and I can honestly say I didn’t see the huge twist in the story until it was revealed. It was a surprising twist, I must say, and I think everyone will love it!

Amy Presgraves has always dreamed of visiting Greece and her dream is finally coming true. Better than that? She gets to visit Greece in a study-abroad program that will further her academic career. She’s things can’t get better, until she meets her Professor Dr. Dimitri Speros—who also happens to be married. Oddly though, it’s Lydia, Dimitri’s wife that encourages her to get closer to the handsome Dimitri and when she does, she’s shocked and thrilled by the passion she shares with the Professor.

But what happens in Greece doesn’t always stay in Greece. Dimitri and Amy will face betrayal that will test all their boundaries. Can they make it through them together? Or was the summer fling doomed from the start?

I really enjoyed the beginning of the novel. It was a bit slow at first, and I felt at times that Amy was second best in Dimitri's eyes, but I liked learning about Amy and seeing her chemistry with Dimitri when she emailed him and when she met him. You can't deny their chemistry. I even liked the minor characters, which shocks me because of what one of them did. I should hate that person, but I don’t. Well, maybe a bit but I guess that’s what I like about this story. I experienced so many different emotions reading this book and I never knew what was going to happen next! I love suspense in books, especially when I find out the huge twist and never saw it coming.

A fantastic debut novel and I recommend it to everyone!

I really enjoyed this book! After being in a book funk this book really pulled me out of it. The writing was well done and the story different and refreshing. It starts out a little on the slow side but by chapter two I was definitely pulled into it. I won't give any spoilers but I will tell you that this book has some very steamy sex scenes, moments when my heart hurt, times when I felt like I was being pulled into the panic that Amy was feeling, and crying my eyes out during other scenes. It has everything a reader could possibly want in a great book: Sexy older man hero (I love a good age gap between the male and female lead. Not so much between the female and male though). Passionate sex scenes that are exciting but not vulgar and not on the verge of porn. (I'm not a big fan of reading porn.) There are a few twists that keep the reader on their toes without feeling like your brain is getting twisted along the way. The writing flows well and I have truly become a new fan of Elle J. Lawson.
I'm looking forward to more by this great new author.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Fling was a thoroughly enjoyable read. The attraction was sizzling, the scenes were hot and highly seductive. If you love to travel, and older men get you a little hot under the collar, you will certainly love this story.

While it flowed nicely, at times it was a little predictable, then BAM! there were unexpected twists and turns and as a reader, I love that. It was a story which kept me wanting more and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In saying that, I would urge readers to remember this is a NA read, not an E-Rom so don't be expecting the hot and sizzling scenes to be heavily erotic or in any way dark. This is a well written NA debut book. Elle definitely shows great potential in her writing and I look forward to her publishing her next WIP.

I started this book on a snow day hoping to pass some time since I was trapped at home. I expected a light romance with some vapid blond lusting after a dark stranger which is typically what I see in this genre. Instead I was drawn in to the story of a well portrayed 22 year old recent college graduate searching for her future. I could relate to the conflicting wanderlust versus responsibility of the main character. Just when I thought I knew where the plot was going there was an unexpected twist that kept me reading into the night. This book is categorized as an erotic romance but it should be noted that the sexual scenes are well described, not over the top (no "throbbing manhood" which is a personal pet peeve phrase) and directly pertain to the plot. Overall a well written and a good entertaining read.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I totally enjoyed this story, it has a great balance of erotic romance and twists in the plot. I found the first couple of chapters a bit slow but the story soon picked up pace. Amy a nursing student from Arizona goes to Greece for a week's training and meets Dimitri, the doctor in charged of this course. Amy and Dimitri are attracted to each other but Dimitri is married to Lydia so nothing can come of it until.......they embark on an interesting and complicated sexual relationship with Lydia's blessing. I don't want to give to much away but the story develops with a great twist that will have you turning page after page to get to the end and find out how it will all end. Ellen has done an amazing job with this her first book and I look forward to reading a lot more from her.

As an author there a few things I don't do while I'm in the middle of a project. One of these is read other authors. However I have to say I was privileged to receive a copy of The Fling by Elle Lawson and it was fantastic!

The story quickly grabs your interest and you are catapulted into Amy's world and you care. Without giving anything away, I welcomed the quick sojourn to the Mediterranean in the midst of a brutal winter, thank you Elle for that!

Overall this is an excellent first novel. The writing is crisp and the pace is precise. Elle handles the interactions and the intimate scenes with poise and a general dose of heat without becoming cliche. It is the hallmark of a superb erotica author. I look forward to more from this new writer and I know she will become well known very soon.

Kudos Elle! Thank you for providing me with a fling with The Fling.

This book was nothing like I thought it was going to be and that’s a good thing! Amy, lived a very sheltered life. Her parents wanted her to live close and basically never leave. She went to college around town and was getting her nursing degree. She had dreams of going to Greece and doing doctors without borders. That wasn’t going to happen until her friend found a flier. She immediately fills it out and talks to the director thru email. Her parents aren’t thrilled but let her go. She never expected to have such a attraction to this guy. She becomes friends with the director and his wife but soon is given a proposition from her(the wife)… her dream is happening! There is a bit of action that happens and a very happy surprise! This book was a good read! Short, sexy and a hint of drama!!

I was so excited to read this book by Elle Lawson, the cover and title alone had me intrigued. Amy is such a likeable character you instantly feel a connection to her. The moment she was accepted to go to Greece for her training I just knew this story was going to heat up.

While I won't spoil any of the many twists and turns this storyline takes, let me just say I stayed up late knowing I had to keep flipping those pages to find out what was going to happen next.

This story is spellbinding with a plot that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Once you get drawn into this book, it not only keeps your attention it delivers a twist near the end I never saw coming.

Great Job! Can't wait to read more in the future from this author.

I could not put this book down, I wanted to read it all in one sitting!! I've never read a book by Elle J. Lawson before and I was quite pleased!! It started out with Amy being a student and bored with her current job/life. Her friend sees an opportunity post on a board at work to go study abroad for a week in Greece, which is where Amy has always wanted to go. She applies and gets the chance to go. She meets hunky, Dr. Speros and his wife Lydia when they pick her up at the airport. They are very welcoming to her and I just kept waiting for the bomb to drop, it just seemed "off" to me. Most of what I guessed was correct but, WOW, didn't see part of it coming!! This is a must read book!! No cliffhanger, YAY!

I was given this book as an ARC read in return for an honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was kept hooked by the progression of the story. Amy was a brilliant character to read about and seemed very real. Dimitri is a very hot older man who I envisioned very easily. The connection between Amy and Dimitri was very strong and full of hot angst. The coming together of the two was very hot and erotic.
The storyline was very refreshing and different to the usual erotic stories. I was kept guessing what could happen and kept turning the pages to see how everything progressed.
I really enjoyed Elle's style of writing, it flowed very well and I'll definitely read others by this author.

Brilliant book!

There are no spoilers in this review as I don't like ruining the fun. ;)

I read this from cover to cover within 24 hours and I don't usually read this genre, however this got me hooked from the first page.

The characters are well rounded and endearing. I could feel every emotion Amy was going through as she went on her adventure, and as the story developed.

Throughout the book it is clear a lot of research was done on the topics discussed, and on the places where the action unfolds.

I think this book pulled at every emotion I have, which is quite an achievement! Hopefully there will be more books from this author - and soon!

I was given an ARC for an honest review!

This book had my attention from the first page. Amy id just graduating from college with a BA in nursing and decides to go to Greece to take a class in order to expand her education and to get away from her extremely over protective parents. While in Greece she meet her professor and instant hotness ensues. I don't want to give too much away, but there are twists and turns I did not see coming and they were presented perfectly throughout the whole story. The character both Amy and he professor Demitri where extremely easy to relate to. Overall I loved this book and would highly recommend to anyone who loves heat with their story!!!!

This was a great read, I really enjoyed the character of Amy and her journey of self-discovery and finding her own independence away from her overprotective parents. The chemistry between Amy and Dmitri was electric and I couldn't help but get sucked into their building relationship. I don't want to go into too much detail and spoil the book for those who plan on reading it but suffice to say you won't regret picking up a copy!

Thoroughly enjoyed it and Ms Lawson is certainly an author to watch!

Wow this was a really twisted crazy kind of story. Amy is going to Greece to study a bit about Doctors with Borders, she has just graduated and working towards becoming a nurse. Her parents have controlled everything about her life. She finds the freedom away from everyone she knows. But for 3 weeks prior to Greece she has been communicating with the Doctor teaching the classes in Greece. Definitely a summer fling and then some...

Elle Lawson writes with a style all her own. Told from Amy's pov, the Fling begins with a young woman's flight for freedom from her parents overprotectiveness. She does some growing up pretty quickly. I found this story to be fresh and original and a bit different, and I enjoyed it immensely. I loved the epilogue.

Well, the writing was tight and the story kept me engaged, but the entire story just didn't feel believable to me. I didn't completely dislike this story, but I don't think it's one that will stick with me for long either. The excitement at the ending was a little OTT, and then too simply resolved. I love a cheating/affair type of story if it's done right, but this one seemed to be missing a little something. Won't stop me from checking out others books by this author in the future though.
