Fun loving wolf-shifter Colton Albright’s usual concern…his next meal, has been replaced by haunted dreams. The nightly visions of the sad, anxious face of his mate have this jovial jokester withdrawing from his fellow Alpha Unit members.

Rheia Bradley is a dedicated professional that lives to help others, but has long forgotten how to help herself. When she arrives in Lycaonia seeking the protection of the warrior units, Colton is ecstatic to discover that she’s his mate. His relief is quickly eclipsed by one small problem, a tiny, solemn four-year-old girl who happens to be his mate’s adopted daughter. Which means… he is now a father!

While Rheia settles into her new job, Colton and all his fellow warriors are about to get a crash course on little girls. The men quickly learn that not one ounce of their centuries-long training has prepared any them for this precocious child.

When Rheia uncovers something about their enemy that puts her name next to her daughter’s on their hit list, Colton is willing to do anything to keep his new family safe. But will it be enough?

5 Better second time around Stars

I guess my taste has changed in the last few years because a few weeks ago I reread a YA series I loved and a few of the book lost their shine to me. Now I reread this book which the first time around I thought was just okay and this time I loved it. The first time I thought the couple was awkward and forced this time I really felt their love. I don't get it but hey I will roll with it. So I am upping my rating to 5 stars on this one. I will leave my first review below though.

3 Penny Stars

 photo anigif_enhanced-24410-1432217625-9_zps3p61qjtn.gif

My Healer, the 3rd book in the Bewitched and Bewildered series, was a meh read for me. I liked the continuing story line. I liked all the secondary characters, enjoyed seeing the past couples, and I loved Penny. It was Colton and Rheia that I wasn't feeling. I am not real sure what was off, but something was just off about Colton and Rheia's relationship.

 photo Tumblr_m4igv26kW11qg96ino2_500_zpsje32xsli.gif

I don't know why, but their relationship felt awkward and forced. It wasn't that I didn't like Rheia and Colton, because I liked both of them just fine, separately. But as a couple they felt fake and cheesy. I don't even know exactly what was off. And because of the awkwardness I just didn't connect to them as a couple.

 photo giphy_zps4b2gsaw7.gif

I still gave this book a 3 star rating because the story line was good. There was so much of the book involving around the other characters, that I didn't have to suffer through too much of their weird relationship. I loved Colton and Penny together. Their father, daughter relationship was very cute and that also helped me like the book more. I really hope the next one is better.

Rheia Bradley, lived in a small town in the human world amongst her own people with her adopted four-year-old daughter, Penny, as the ER doctor.

But that doesn’t mean that she wasn’t protected. …… She had her adopted brothers, who were the Vanguard squads… that watch over her and Penny

With the Ferals still on the attack and for some reason the Ferals Had attacked Rheia’s house, the Vanguard squads thought It would be safer if Rheia and Penny went to Lycaonia

Colton Albrigh is a Fun-loving laid-back wolf-shifter, whom I fell in love with ever since the first book in this series- he is such a Goofball. He was the comic relief in his Unit….. The man just was so difficult not to love.

As for Penny, everyone at the Alpha estate immediately falls in love with her

As for Rheia and Colton Relationship, they were bit boring as a couple……. But what I have learn in this series is the author might not Give you very many steamy scenes amongst the couples. But , She makes it up to you , by keeping you on your toes when it comes to. the easy banner between all the couples. And also, the suspense of trying to figure out What exactly the Ferals want?
So, all in all this whole series has been really good, this was another great addition to the series. I've really been enjoying them all. The next book sounds really good too, so I'm excited to get to that soon. Up next is Darian’s book

Oh, almost forgot. Thank God that the author tone down Meryn and Aiden in this installment…….

These books are cracking me up. Nothing beats holiday stress like scenes of these military paranormal men running to the human store for human supplies.

Aiden stood. "Come on men, this time Colton needs our help."...

When they arrived, everyone climbed out. This time it was Aiden reaching for the gun... Aiden lifted the shotgun then the AR-15. "I'm leaning towards the AR-15, what doe you think?"

The men nodded...

(The clerk who always helps them in the store): "I have to say, I worry about you boys."...

Aiden: "Thank you for your concern, but we have everything under control." He patted the gun on his back.

Man! I need these guys to take me Christmas shopping! It's crazy out there!

Or this guy.

This book is about Colton, a werewolf, and his human mate, Rheia, who is a doctor with an adopted child. She was raised with paranormals, so she isn't as freaked-out as our first girl was. Still, the automatic mate insta-love surprises her, especially when Colton is extremely thrilled that she has a daughter and tells the kid that he's now her daddy. Yeah, um, in the human world, men aren't exactly beating down the doors to date single mothers.

The second he meets Rheia's daughter, Penny: "I'm a father!" he announced.....

"Being a father is nothing to play at," Rheia chided.

"I'm not playing. You're my mate and she's your daughter, that makes her my daughter."

"Just like that? Poof! Just like that, you're willing to sacrifice everything and become a parent?" she demanded.

Colton frowned, confused. "Of course. Isn't that how it works with humans?"

We need more of this Colton's attitude. Although, we would just be suspicious if they did that and would get rid of him quicker than untagging ourselves on the drunk photos of the night before. Dammit, Karen! My kids will see that! They totally don't appreciate my sick dance moves.

So this little insta-family is pretty cute. Penny, the daughter, is adorable. Plus, Meryl is still strongly featured, so we have plenty of wackiness.

There is also a story developing in this world. That's kind of strange. I expect nothing but stupid laughs from this series. I don't want to get interested in the storyline. It's kind of like when you accidentally start to sing along with an old song. Sure, it's catchy, but still embarrassing if anyone knows that you know all the words.

You're welcome!

I'm getting sucked in to this series.

I liked this one almost as much as I liked the first in this series. I loved Colton- he is a laid back wolf shifter. He fell hard for his mate and her adopted daughter. Rheia is a human with an adopted daughter that is paranormal. I thought she was pretty easy going considering all the changes that happened in her life in a short time. I also thought it was cool that she was a surgeon and able to help the men in the unit when they were injured. I appreciated that there were more steamy times in this one. I still enjoy seeing Aiden and Meryn- they are my favorites. The suspense storyline that goes through all the books is good too. I am moving on to the next one:)

Personal Overview
We continue with the story of the Alpha Unit, this time through the perspective of the new couple, Colton and Rheia.
Rheia is a strong, selfless  human woman. She has as adopted daughter, Penny, a shifter four year old, after her parents were killed one year before, to whom she is completely devoted (until Colton, that will share this devotion with her).
Colton is selfless and considerate, sweet and kind, and most of all, he always tries to put a smile in everyone's face. When she met Rheia, he accepted the mating pull immediately, and she and his new daughter, like he proudly recognizes, became the center of his world.
"Fate not only granted my wish, but gave me so much more. I have you by my side and you have given me the gift of a daughter. Overnight I have a family of my own. I know that this may seem impossible to you, but it's not to me. If you're ever in doubt, lean on me; let my faith support us both. We can take this at your pace, sweetness, because as long as you're beside me, I'm the luckiest and happiest man on the planet."(Colton to Rheia)

Since Rheia was having difficulty in fully embracing the mating bond, since she has a very scientific way of thinking, natural to a human doctor. She was helped along the way by the supporting characters, mainly explaining to her the mating aspect:
"Well. Being mated to a paranormal is way different than being with a human. It's like you're slipped this really cool happy drug that makes all your defenses come down and bam, you're exposed. But you realize it's okay, because no matter how crazy or broken or unworthy you think you are, your mate loves and wants you just the way you are. And just when you're about to freak out that this stranger can see right to your heart, you realize his walls are down too. Before you know it, your souls are reaching out for one another and you feel incomplete without him. You look at this man you just met and know that no other will ever compare. Plus the sex is really hot, hence my current condition."(Meryn to Rheia)

“I believe that matings induce the feelings one experiences when one falls in love. That rush one feels at the thought of seeing their mate, the overwhelming desire to touch and be touched, the realization that no one else in the entire world will ever suit them as perfectly. These are all things humans experience over a certain amount of time when finding a life partner. For paranormals, these feelings herald the knowledge that the person they are with are their pre-destined mate, that literally the person that they barely know will be the only person they will be with for the rest of their long lives.”(Ryuu to Rheia)

And of course there was a big funny moment with the men buying (and making Kellan try out) pull-ups for Penny.
Aiden started the car. "Penny's donuts. Bart seemed especially concerned when I told him I was getting them for your daughter because she had excelled in our training drills, he kept looking from my gun to your box of pull-ups. I wonder what he was thinking?"
Gavriel shook his head. "No telling, humans are odd creatures."

"Did you know that clownfish are hermaphrodites? That movie, if based on science, would be about Nemo's father changing sexes to female, since the dominant female, Nemo's mother, was killed. He then, in turn, would try to reproduce with the only other male, which would have been Nemo," Rheia explained munching away on her cinnamon roll. When she noticed how quiet it had gotten she looked up; everyone was staring at her. "What? That's science."(Rheia about Finding Nemo to the group, including Aiden who has a clown fish named Jaws)

The sex scenes were a bit steamier on this one, and Colton surprised me with his dirty talk, who knew the relaxed one of the group had all that Alpha in him? LOL. It was hot!
The subplot about the feral continues in this book, and they create a lot of stressful situations and scares for the gang, and especially to our MCs, but in the end it only helped strengthen their love.
"You're the one who saved me. Penny was the only light in my life until you. I'd closed my heart off to any potential love because I was afraid to lose them, like I lost my parents. You bulldozed right past all of my hesitations and simply loved me. You helped both Penny and me to smile again and to laugh. You're the one who healed my soul." (Rheia to Colton)

And Penny surprise in the end was the cherry on top of this sweet story. Hope Darian keeps it just as sweet.

Totally hated the heroine from the first book and she practically ruined this one for me. I must have been crazy to read this. But the story sounded sweet. It was for the Hero and her daughter. The heroine might have well have not been in the book. She had very little interactions with him. No romance. He was all about the daughter. It was just weird.

Colton Albright is the comic relief in his Alpha Unit. He has been dreaming of his mate and when she shows up at his doorstep he is elated and anxious to begin their life together. He was not expecting her to have a daughter though and now he has to figure out how to be the perfect father.

Rheia Bradley lived to be a doctor, however when Penny arrived she knew being a mother was the most important thing in the world. Penny's own parents had been murdered and Rheia has been trying to get Penny to come out of her shell. She is wary of Colton, how could a man be so easily adaptable to becoming a father and mate.

With Ferals still on the attack, Rheia is eagerly learning about life in Lycanioa. Colton and his men rally around Penny and life continues to grow more interesting as the other mates help navigate through the dangers.

Delightful. Loved Colton his reaction to becoming an instant father was hilarious. Penny is adorable, she melts your heart. All the favorites in the book and a couple of new characters are introduced. This series continues to get better and better.

I really liked this one. It wasn't as funny as book 1 but I liked that it was steamier ...also a big fan of the dirty talk ...go Colton, sigh

I have to admit I skipped book 2 because all the reviews said that it was more of an extension of book 1. I had no problems following the storyline ans I am really happy I hot to read about Colton and his mate. So far he's my favorite !!

Maybe in time I'll go back and read book 2.

4 stars from me...I love these boys;)

I adored Colton in the first two books, and I loved him even more in this book! He was the perfect hero. He is sexy, tough, devoted and he loved Penny and Rheia so much. Rheia was smart, tough and such a good momma! I'm on the fence about the story unfolding throughout the series. I like to have the HEA with a great epilogue. The only epilogue you get is a lead up to the next story.

"Good morning, sunshine!" Colton practically sang out.
She swung her head in his direction and glared at him from half closed eyes. "Why are you being so loud?"
"Oh, Gods, not again," she heard Keelan whisper.
Colton visibly gulped. Penny held up an empty coffee cup and shook it in front of Colton's face.
He grabbed the cup. "Ryuu!" he yelled.
Rheia rested her head on her arms. "You do realize that I am medically trained to remove pieces of your body in such a way that you won't die?" she asked'
Ryuu entered the dining room walking quickly, carrying a tray with three steaming cups. He placed one down in front of Meryn, then Beth, before setting one down in front of her.
"Considering your profession, I made yours extremely strong. Please let me know if it's to your liking," he said and stepped back.
She raised the cup and took a sip. Her eyes opened wide, and she looked down at the contents. She took another sip and sighed. It was hot, dark, and bitter. She could almost feel the caffeine kicking in. She sat back, never releasing the cup. She looked to Ryuu. "What is it? It tastes like coffee, but it's very strong, but amazing."
Ryuu smiled and bowed at the compliment. "I have been studying the different types of beverages that can be made using coffee and espresso. What you're drinking is called a Black Eye."
"It's wonderful. Could I have this every day?" she asked hopefully.
"Of course, it would be my pleasure."
"All hail the Coffee God," Colton whispered. Beside him, Keelan drew a symbol in the air and muttered, "So mote it be."

I like this series, it's ridiculous and over the top and fluffy and fun. My only problem with it is that I just can't take any of it seriously. These unit warriors are soo very old, and with that comes certain expectations. Mostly, I expect them to have common sense. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little surprised these guys have made it as long as they have. And it is funny when they're all completely clueless and do things like head down to the corner store, armed to the teeth, and try to figure out what pull-ups to buy a four year old. But, I feel like they probably shouldn't be quite so clueless about everything, regardless of the fact that they all live in a secret paranormal city. There's being clueless about "human things" and there's being clueless about "you should fucking know better things" and they seem to be both. Because honestly, the fact that a thirty year old woman has to tell a group of centuries-old trained warriors that adhering to a strict training schedule, for years on end, without any variation, because it cuts down on the need to communicate and possible confusion on who should be where, when, will, in fact make you predictable to an enemy who may be watching you…it makes me suspicious of your ability to…survive…for so long. But hey, whatever, it was a fun read…and that's all I really give a shit about anyway.

The universe screeched to a halt around him and shifted. He knew eventually he would fall in love with his mate, but the love he would have for Rheia would be different than what he already felt for this child. He had fallen instantly in love with his daughter, and Gods help the ones that were after her, because there was nothing he wouldn't do to keep her safe.
Five minutes ago, he had been a bachelor; now he had a mate and a baby girl. His world was changed forever. He smiled at her and she tilted her head. Slowly, giving her time to pull away, he reached for her and scooped her up when she didn't protest. Standing, he turned and faced the other men.
"I'm a father!" he announced, forgetting that the men around him had been there the whole time.
Cheers went up from the men as they crowded around to meet Rheia and Penny.
"This is my mate, Rheia and my daughter, Penny. Aren't they beautiful?" he asked, beaming.
"Being a father is nothing to play at," Rheia chided, her hands on her hips, frowning at him again.
"I'm not playing. You're my mate and she's your daughter, that makes he my daughter," he rebutted.
She blinked. "Just like that? Poof! Just like that, you're willing to sacrifice everything and become a parent?" she demanded.
Colton frowned, confused. "Of course. Isn't that how it works with humans?"
"Not exactly," she confessed.
"Well, that's how it is with me. She's already mine, aren't you, princess?" Colton asked Penny.
Yawning, the girl nodded, popped her thumb in her mouth and laid her head down on his shoulder.
Colton melted. "Let's head inside. My baby girl has to be getting cold. Darian, Keelan, can you bring in their suitcases?" he asked.
"Sure thing," Darian said. He and Keelan opened up the driver's side door and popped the trunk.
"Now wait a minute. You can't just expect me to let you walk off with my daughter. Hey! Get back here!" Rheia called as he walked toward the house.
"Is your mommy always so grumpy?" Colton asked. Penny shook her head.
"Just with me?" This time she nodded.
"Perfect," he sighed.

~

"Gods, I want to eat you up," he growled.
She whispered. She wanted nothing more than to be at his mercy. Colton turned his head toward the road. Some unit warriors were jogging by on their way to the Alpha estate for afternoon drills. He sat back and closed his eyes. Breathing hard, she began to sit back in her seat but found she was stuck. The leather case that held the slides had shifted in her pocket to wedge itself in the steering wheel.
"Colton."
"Just give me one second, sweetness." He winced and shifted his weight in his seat.
"I'm stuck."
His eyes opened and he turned to her. "Say what?"
"I'm stuck. That damn case in my pocket is stuck in the wheel and I can't move."
Colton reached between her and the steering wheel and dislodged the case. She turned and collapsed back in her seat. She looked over at him; he had a thoughtful look on his face.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Bench seats."
"I'm sorry?"
"I'm buying a truck with bench seats."
She gaped at him and then realized what he was talking about. "If we had a truck, where would Penny sit? She needs a car seat."
"It'll be our special date night truck."
"You're having a fantasy right now about fucking me in a truck aren't you?"
Colton raised an eyebrow at her. "Did you really have to ask that question?"
"I guess not."
"Can I interpret your silence as consent for a later date when I have said truck?"
She looked at him, frowning. "You're going to wait until you have that truck?"
Colton leered at her. "Well, if you put it like that…"
She opened the door and got out. "Come on, Balto."
Colton got out and closed his door. "Technically, Balto was a dog."
Rheia shrugged. "Close enough."
"No seriously, there's a huge difference. I'm not a dog."
"But you're so fluffy and cute."
Colton grimaced. "Please, never, ever say that in front of the guys."
"I make no promises," she teased.
Colton opened the clinic door, and they walked down the long hallway.
"Seriously Rheia, those guys have memories like elephants. We're still giving Sascha shit about the time his horse kept running from him because it hadn't been broken in to ride paranormals. I think he has a complex."
"When was that?"
"Not long, maybe like three hundred years ago, give or take."
She stopped and turned to face him. "Three hundred years?"
Colton nodded emphatically. "And we still crack jokes about it."
Rheia started walking, making a left down the hall that led toward the morgue. "I thought you said he had a complex?"
"And?"

~

"I don't think it's going to go in," Keelan said. Colton could hear the worry in his voice.
"Of course it will; that's what it's designed for."
Colton and Sascha froze then leaned in closer to the door. Colton held his breath as images of medical devices floated through his mind.
"I think it's too big. Do you have anything that will grease it up?"
Colton turned to Sascha whose horrified expression matched his own. What was his mate doing to Keelan?
"Okay, it's going in, just don't force it," Keelan said, sounding relieved.
"I've done this before; I know what I'm doing."
"Okay, I think something's wrong, it feels off."
"Seems okay to me."
"Ow! Dammit!" Keelan's sharp exclamation had Colton and Sascha jumping back.
"There, it's all the way in," Rheia said.
"That hurt," Keelan said, sounding dejected.
"It wasn't that bad."
"I have to admit, it looks a lot better. It will probably work a lot better, too."
"I hope so; I plan to get a lot of use out of it."
Colton stared at the door as her words registered. He stepped back and kicked the door in. "Like fucking hell you will!" He snarled at Keelan, taking satisfaction in the way the blood drained from his face.
When he stepped into the room and looked around, he realized he had made a terrible mistake. Keelan was fully dressed, sucking on his finger and his mate was standing next to a cabinet, testing the top drawer by pulling it in and out. She hadn't been performing an exam; she had been fixing the drawer.
Fuck!
Keelan took one look at him and Colton could see the dawning realization as to what his conversation with Rheia must have sounded like. Without a word, he raised the window and jumped out. Since they were on the ground floor Keelan didn't have very far to jump. Colton could see him running around to the front of the building and away from him as fast as he could.
Rheia turned to him shock and disbelief on her face. "What in the everloving fuck was that?"
Colton stepped back to stand next to Sascha; they looked at each other then turned to look at Rheia.
"Nothing," they said together.
"You can't be here if you do stuff like this, Colton. I need to be able to do my job. Go back to the waiting room and eat your cinnamon rolls," she ordered. She then looked at Sascha. "You're next."
Sascha turned to Colton with a huge shit-eating grin. "Sure Doc, you can fix me up, too."
Without even blinking, Colton punched him in the nose.
"Colton! Don't break them! I have to fix them!" she admonished with her hands on her hips.
Colton shrugged and glared at Sascha who was holding his bleeding nose and tilting his head back.
Sascha held up his other hand in surrender. "I deserved that one, Doc," he admitted, sounding nasally.
"Men! You!" she pointed at Colton. "Waiting room. Now. You need to be far enough away so that you can't hear what's being discussed. Haven't you ever heard of HIPAA?"
"Now that's being mean, baby, I know Sascha's a big boy, but he's a tiger, not a hippo," Colton said, grinning.
"Out!" she yelled, pointing to the door.
Colton turned and leaned in close to the Gamma Unit leader. "You touch her, I'll kill you."
"I won't be touching her, pup; she'll be touching me," Sascha teased.
Colton growled and walked out of the examination room. The bastard flipped him off and slammed the door in his face.

~

The first thing Colton became aware of was the fact that the inside of his mouth was dry. The second thing he became aware of was that the inside of his mouth tasted like ass. He peeled his eyes open and saw Rheia standing over him. He grinned up at her. "Hey, beautiful." His voice was so faint he could barely hear it.
Rheia burst into tears. Colton turned his head, looking around the room. Wasn't there anyone close by that could help his mate?
"It's okay, sweetheart," he whispered harshly.
She just continued to cry, great heaving sobs that were wildly out of control. Taking a deep breath, he mustered all his strength and tried to sit up. That got her attention.
"What in the hell are you doing? Lay back down!" Her tears slowed down and she was in command mode. Colton preferred her ordering him around to crying uncontrollably. "Water?" he croaked.
"Of course." Rheia picked up a large insulated mug with a bendy straw and held it for him. He managed to spill a good portion of it, but what he did swallow, felt heavenly. Every second he was awake, he felt his strength returning.
"Thanks, my love, I feel a lot better. What happened anyway? The last thing I remember is being in the woods calling Aiden an asshole."
Rheia stared. "What happened? What happened! What happened was you almost died!" She waved his cup around.
"I'm getting better."
She blinked at him. "Did you just quote Monty Python?"
He did, but the look on her face had him second-guessing admitting to it. "Maybe."

Read for URR Halloween challenge- werewolf category.

I keep telling myself that these books are awful. That I really need to stop reading them. I keep telling myself that this one is the last I'm going to read. Well, guess what?

These books really aren't that great, but they're fucking adorable and so much fun to read. I have made peace with the fact that I love these books and plan to read all of them, quality be-damned. They make me happy.

Moving on.

This is Colton's book. He's a wolf shifter and he's been dreaming of his mate, Rheia. She happens to have an adopted four-year-old daughter, Penny, but Colton doesn't know that yet. Rheia has also been dreaming of her mate but she doesn't really know it because she's human. When Rheia and her daughter are attacked, her paranormal friends (who she sees as her brothers) tell her to make her way to the Alpha estate in Lycaonia and when she arrives, she meets Colton for the first time. Colton is relieved to finally have found his mate but is surprised to find out he's now a dad. Everyone at the Alpha estate immediately falls in love with Penny, his new daughter. From there the book is mostly about Colton trying to get Rheia to accept him as a mate and learning to be a father to a very traumatized four-year-old girl who hasn't spoken since she witnessed her parents attack and murder. Of course, everyone is still trying to find out what the Ferals want and why the hell they feel the need to murder people, especially pregnant paranormal women.

Rheia and Colton were a bit boring as a couple. I liked that Rheia spent most of the book refusing to accept Colton as her mate because it was a little more realistic, especially for a human. Shifters/vampires/witches etc..are used to the idea of mates. Humans, not so much. There was nothing wrong with Colton and Rheia as a couple, there just wasn't anything spectacular about them either. He was gorgeous, kind, and funny. She was smart, strong, and beautiful. You know, the normal stuff. They were certainly compatible in bed, though. Very compatible. Dayum.

Honestly, the best part of these books is the ever-growing list of secondary characters. I look forward to their part of the plot and checking in on them. In fact, now that I think about it, the main characters are usually my least favorite part of the books. Somehow it still manages to work.

The plot is often ridiculous, they are filled with absurd instaloves, and there were a few grammatical errors but for some reason, I just didn't care. This series is hilarious and I always laugh out loud. Several times. These books don't take themselves too seriously and they are a great escape. Award-winning literature? I think not. But I'm not going to let that bother me.

And yes, of course, I'm going to keep reading the series.

So against my better judgment, I continued to read this series. I should have stopped at the first book. The second book was still all about Meryn, who I have quickly become increasingly tired of her childish and immature personality. But I figured, hopefully Alanea has read some of her readers’ reviews and she won’t make the next book all about Meryn, again and I really do like Colton. So pick up the next book…. I seriously need to learn to listen to my inner self because this book was a big fat NO.

Meryn of course was a brat, ooh big shocker there. She didn’t play a major part in this book as in the second one but her presence is ever constant. Groan Groan… I like Colton and his playful demeanor but again I think the instant love thing happened way to fast. And I’m tired of them running to the store like mad men, guns blazing. REALLY!!! I like Rheia, she give us humans some dignity. She is intelligent, driven and doesn’t take crap from anyone and her adopted daughter keep the soldiers on their feet. She is the reason this book is 2.5 starts and not one.

At this point, I know who the mastermind is behind everything and I haven’t read the fourth book. These are supposed to be seasoned warriors, hundreds of years old and you can’t figure this crap out. At this point, I’m not believing this storyline anymore. Just please move the series along. This is frustrating and annoying.

My Healer is the third book in the Bewitched and Bewildered series and I loved it. I have loved Colton since the very first book and couldn’t wait to see what his mate would be like. She was human but was brought up in a supernatural setting so that she mostly understood the world she was thrust into. Having adopted a daughter, it was so cute how Colton took to becoming a father when his mate entered his world. I loved how all the men reacted to her and how sweet Colton was with everything. I loved how Aiden was crowned her godfather and how he took to that role as well as all the other men being uncles to Penny. This one kept the action, drama and humour of the first two books and kept it going in spectacular fashion. I loved every page and can’t wait to read the next one. A definite must read series for fans of adult paranormal.

"Come on, Balto."
Technically, Balto was a dog."
"Close enough."
"No seriously, there's a huge difference. I'm not a dog."
"But you're so fluffy and cute."
"Please, never, ever say that in front of the guys."
"I make no promises,"

Okay. This was probably the best one yet!

Ahhh! All my hopes (almost all) paid off!

They totally lived just about up to my expectations. It wasn't like the last book, Colton and Rheia actually had their own story, it wasn't all centered around Meryn again, there still wasn't much of the plot revealed though it did makesome progress (after reading 3 books, believe you me this is a HUGE deal) and PENNY!

OH.MY.GOD!

P.E.N.N.Y.

She was the absolute best part!
The cute, "aww" factor in this book was through the roof. I might have laughed more over Meryn antics in My Commander but I certainly fell more in love here.

That being said, this is my last book of the series, even after 3 books it didn't manage to convince me to keep reading, no intrigue what so ever.
So adios!

Personally, I don't enjoy giving "SPOILERS" as a rule, so I believe the general synopsis above or on the book flap if it's a hard copy should give you all the information you need. I do include the basics under synopsis though. If you'd like to know my overall thoughts & feelings about the book or author, please check the "Personal Opinion" section. Also, if this is a book in a series, under "Characters," you'll most likely find a fu-bo list. While reading, authors tend to introduce us to numerous characters and I find I wonder if they will get their own book, so I decided to include this in my review. I will try not to include "SPOILERS" if there are any. And now to my review:

General Synopsis:
This is the third book in Alanea Alder's [Bewitched and Bewildered] series, focusing on the romance between Rheia Bradley, a human and Colton Albright, a wolf shifter in Lycaonia's paranormal Unit. Rheia is also the adopted mother to Penny Carmichael, a four-year old shifter, who quickly wins over the hearts of ever Unit member in Lycaonia.

Characters/Fu-bo:
Keelan
Darian
Ryuu
Adam
Adair
Ben
Sascha
Lennox (yes, I know he's only "just an adult" in paranormal years, but …)
Jaxon (same as above)

VANGUARD SERIES
Radek
Levi
Marco
Dax
Athan

Personal Opinion:
As mentioned in a previous review, these books keep getting better & better! Several new pieces introduced to the mystery/puzzle that is weaving through the series and I love it. I still have my suspicions, but again they might be SPOILERS, so I will not share here. We are introduced to the Vanguard, which are inactive out Unit members who blend into human cities to protect paranormals & humans. Rheia's "brothers" are members of one such team: Radek Carson, Levi Sorrel, Marco Rodriguez, Dax Vi'Eaereson and Athan Durant. Also, there is a surprising twist in the epilogue, although I don't want you to look at the back of the book before reading!

If you are looking for a terrific plot filling you with emotions this was all that and a bag of chocolate bars!

I have to start with Penny who is a close rival to Meryn (which is one of my all time favorites) this kiddo has been through the ringer but is strong, determined, and wise beyond her years. This little one was a fun addition to the Alpha unit and the antics from her arrival are priceless!

Colton is just what I expected cocky (in a funny way), sassy, and a complete romantic. The joy he feels for finally finding his mate and the bonus of having a daughter as well leaps off the pages. Beautifully written!

Rheia starts making all the pieces fit in the upcoming showdown with the ferals. Intelligent, nurturing, and accepting of her new family. This was a wonderful character to add to the ever growing mates.

Lastly I have got to state that the one character I have failed to show a lot of love to is the amazing Bart. Nothing brings a smile to my face quicker than the woman sending the men to the store for human things like tampons, condoms, and now training pants...This old man is a hoot!

Warning if you are looking for hot and steamy this book did lack that, however the story of Colton, Rheia and the amazing Penny was fantastic! For this reader it was enough for me to overlook the missing smexyness.

Full of what I have come to expect for Alder which is drama, laugh out loud moments, tears (which is hard for a woman with a cold heart like mine), and suspense. Although, this series has been dedicated to a MC and FMC each book is an extension of the last. Never feel any gaps in this series. Never miss characters I have fallen in love with because it is all there.

This is one smitten kitten!

Happy Reading! DD

This series just keeps getting better and better. I loved this book Colton and Rheia's story was fantastic and Penny was just adorable. So you will know Colton if you have read the first 2 books in this series and this was a great story for him, I loved that he got a ready made daughter because it gave him a serious side that you don't see in the other books. I loved the introduction of Penny into this series and the effects it had on the men in the different units, by the end of the book Penny had also helped solve part of the puzzle regarding the ferals which was really interesting. There was also another scene in the human town shop with Bart whom the Alpha Unit go to advice for on human things and it was just hilarious it is definitely a visit that needs to happen in each book. This author is amazing the way she introduces new characters in each book and keeps the storyline going through each book and allows us as readers to see what's happening with all our other favourite characters is just phemonenal. I can't wait to see who's book will be next after reading this one I'm not quite sure if it will be Keelan or Darian but it will be fantastic. So if you haven't picked up a book in this series I advise you to and you should start at the beginning with My Commander because while this books are stand alones you will get a lot more out of each book if you read them in order!

I really liked this one and that was due to Penny! I loved how she managed to charm everyone around them, how she bamboozled the guys with her skills while playing ninja and during poker and especially at the end when she did what a lot of adults wouldn't even consider.

Rheia was good too. I loved how she welcomed Penny into her life, how protective she was of her. The romance between her and Colton was a bit blah. It did help that Rheia was aware of paranormals, so she didn't freak out. I did love how Colton accepted Penny right away, that could have been a bad situation, but he handled it in the perfect way.

As for the larger story arc I liked how Meryn figured out a couple more things, how she noticed a flaw in the training and a way to bolster their ranks.

I think one of my favorite parts of the books have to be the shopping trips and advice from Bart. You have to wonder what Bart things of these goofy guys coming in for things. I do love how Bart gives them advice and how the guys all hope he is working when they need help.

A family made to last

I love this book and this series. I love how each one builds on the next and adds another level to the bigger story while focusing entirely on the current couple. I enjoy each and every reference to Doctor Who, Monty Python and Stargate among others. Colton and Rheia are the cutest pair bringing a joy to those around them, add in adorable Penny and they are the perfect family. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Loved this even more the second time around!

Colton is the sweetest man ever and his love for Rheia and Penny makes my heart MELT!!!

But let's be real, Penny was the star of the show. That four year old stole my heart....she's just so precious!!!!

P.S. Still OBSESSED with Meryn's storyline....gotta love that crazy girl.

Each book has their own unique beauty but reading the series book after book they just keep getting more beautiful that it should be sinful XD

Colton was a cute hero, since book one we saw evidence of his caring and selfless nature, how he had Meryn's back and how he helped Gavrial. But in here he was soo soooo cute.

- I noticed that he's always the one who meets the mates first, he found Meryn then Beth and then his own mate XD

- I loved how the heroine had her adoptive brother and how they cared about her, their love for each other was evident, and all their love for Penny was more than telling.

- I looooooooooooooooooooooved the scene when Colton meets Penny I think it's my favorite, it was so cute seeing how he caught his breath almost suffocating then instantly claiming her and being a doting proud father in a matter of minutes.

- I loved how Penny blossomed in the Alpha state, I loved how instantly she bonded with Meryn, how she defeated 3 warrior units and gave them hell XD how she obviously adores Colton, and how much he adores her was cute, I loved the part where he's feeding her bears naming them after people he know and cute was just an understatement.

- I liked how the women always referred to Colton as cute and adorable, like when he talked about food or when he lay on the picnic blanket and each fed him something XD

- Meryn was cute here too, when she keeping giving funny commentary or when she's with her EGIT (Evil Genius In Training) XD

- And Penny was certainly an EGIT since she can hustle grown centuries old men in poker and defeated them in training XD

- The comment at the end that Sascha might be her mate made me laugh so hard especially Colton reaction to it XD

- Finally we got to know some info regarding the ferals reasons, it might not be all clear but we started to get to something at least.

- I also loved how Penny was adored by all, even Ryuu missed her absence and it's the first time ever that he blushed XD

Overall, *thumbs up*

5/5 - Colton’s book!!!!

I’ve been waiting for this book since I met Colton in book 1. Tbh, he was the only character from then Alpha Unit I really cared for in that book. I’ve slowly formed attachments to the rest of the Alpha crew.

At times in this book, I was kinda annoyed with Rheia. She made him wait! A freaking shifter that found his mate and she made him wait to claim her. Having sex was fine with her but nooooo don’t try and claim me. Annoying. It took her “brother” to tell her yeah no that’s twisted.

She turned out ok. All the female mates in this series are pretty annoying. Beth is a shifter but is so freaking type A, babe let it go! Rheia is a human unaccustomed to shifters, but I don’t buy it she’s been with her “brothers” since she was young so she should understand their ways. Meryn. I aggressively dislike this character so much. If someone were to asked me to name the most annoying character if ever read it would be answered with Meryn.

As for the story it was good, the mystery twist was cool. There was a moment of sadness. We meet Colton’s parents. There a Christmas ball. Hey, hey, hey, guess what Colton gets for Christmas... usually I hate these endings but it was done well.

I got Colton’s book, I’m 85% happy with it, my favorite part: Colton is a freaking dom in the bedroom. He reminds me of my favorite character of all time from another series (in the bedroom). Least favorite: Meryn and thank goodness she was barely in this book.

The epilogue! WTF!!!! What’s up with Darian???

Seriously was ready to be done with the series, basically because of Meryn, and the way the supposed Alpha Unit leader is treated. Aiden is Meryn’s bitch and I HATE THAT!! But back to the epilogue, yeah nice hook Alanea.

** side note ** the editing in the books is atrocious. If i have to spend time trying to figure out word placement or what a missing word is, you’ve failed in the editing process.

I love every book Alanea has written. She is an automatic buy for me and is always a go to author for rereads. Since I pre-order every book as soon as it's available, I count down her releases by hours, then minutes, and immediately start devouring it as soon it hits my Kindle. My Healer was freaking awesome. I've eagerly anticipated Colton's story since he was introduced in My Commander, book 1. This book was everything I wished for and more. Colton has been dreaming of his mate and has sensed her fear and anxiety. Rheia flees her hometown with her daughter to escape the ferals. She is advised to go to Lycaonia because the man in her dreams is more than likely her intended mate. Once her and Colton meet, a beautiful story ensues. Watching Colton and the units with Penny, Rheia's four year old daughter, just melts your heart. I experienced so many emotions with this book. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I had to fan myself a few times, and I was so sad when it was over. Alanea has a natural gift and it shows in every book. The next book is Darian's story and I can't wait to see what Alanea has in store for him. She even gives us a little glimpse into his future at the end of the book. I already know, without a doubt, I'll love it. She is just that talented. I highly recommend any of her books. You'll fall in love with her characters.

Ms Alanea Alder has done it again. This is book 3 of her bewitched and bewildered series and it just gets better and better with every new book out. Rheia and Colton are so good together and the love scenes are hot!! When Colton finally meets his mate(Rheia) he gets more than he thought Rheia comes with a beautiful daughter named Penny and he instantly falls in love with his new daughter. Penny is a quiet little girl traumatized by her birth parents murder..that has all the badass warriors wrapped around her little finger. As for the interaction between all the warriors it is that of brothers and is at times hilarious. We get to visit Bart again at the duck in store and poor Keelan gets the brunt of it again...so if you haven't started this series yet what are you waiting for it is simply a wonderful read so don't miss out get your copy today. You will not regret it...

5/5* any complaints I might have had in the last two books were all erased. This one was SO good. It had Action, Romance, Adorability, Adorkability, Humour and a whole lot of Awesomeness! Colton was my favourite and still is. Penny was so cute and Colton's love for Penny is just so adorable! I can' help it, I'm a sucker for hot guys who dote on their little angels. The new couple is also great, but i think this book was more focused on family as a whole. I literally laughed out loud a few times, it got so funny. This book is definitely the best in the series. More books! Please, more books!!
"Just because I'm not always in charge, doesn't mean I'm not an Alpha," he whispered, letting his lips dance on her skin.
