You’re the Kevlar…Behind the badge and the pretty face was a heart. A heart that bled just like the rest. A heart that was so in love with Viddy Sheffield that it was humiliating. Trance had been burned before by a woman that couldn’t handle the fact that he risked his life each and every time he went on shift. She was too vulnerable; somehow he had to convince his heart to let her go. His life would chew her up and spit her out.To My…Viddy couldn’t get the man out of her head. Just the thought of Trance put a smile on her face. And when he walked into the same room? Words couldn’t explain. God help her, but she was even in a relationship with another man. She shouldn’t be thinking about the sexy biker with the voice that made shivers dance down her spine.Vest…Then the unthinkable happens, and the sexy cop she can’t stop thinking about is there for her, giving her what she never knew she needed. One moment in time, and she finds herself falling for the man, lock, stock, and barrel. The two of them have a lot of work to do to make this relationship succeed. What they didn't know, however, was that there were people behind the scenes that were working to keep them apart. Sometimes the saying is true. You can’t always have what you want.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
This book starts off with a mental punch to the guts. The heroine Viddy calls up her new good friend Trance (they have known each other a couple of years through her sister's Marriage with A member of Dixie Wardens MC that Trance is also a member of). She needs him to come over as she is partially blind and she needs someone to help her with her sick and dying dog Hemi a 9 year old English setter. I will just stop here and say I was crying my eyes out here as she can not see her dog playing in the park for the last time and Trance is describing what he (her dog Hemi) is doing. Then, she is holding him as he dies and talking to him and comforting him. OMG I had to stop reading at this point. CRYING MY EYES OUT HERE
At that time I did not know it would take me almost 3 months to finish this book.
Viddy (despite being visually challenged) had a job as a teacher and a very controlling boyfriend Paul whom she had been trying in vain to get rid of repeatedly. He just would not go away. She soon finds out that Paul needs to go (for good this time) when Trance finally holds her in his arms for the first time... Viddys thoughts: Trance was a very good man...it wasn't often that I got to see him... contentment coursed through me. One that I never felt when I was in Paul's arms. Which is why I never slept with Paul. Paul was not a nice man (and he was jealous of Trance) not that Trance had ever crossed that line. So now she felt she had to tell Paul to go F*ck a duck." Right away when she feel something more for Trance more than friendship she calls off her relationship with Paul. She tells him "I want you to leave. NOW. Oh and lose my number."
However, Trance is a whole different kind of animal. He is what I would like to call a convenient f*cker. I will explain and keep it brief and even show examples of this to prove my claim, as I know loads of people will want to contradict me here. Trance you can tell he is really into Viddy. His thoughts are "If she'd ever given me one hint that she wanted me...I'd have went for it. Because I was a love sick fool. NOW HERE IS WHERE IT LOST A STAR "I even had to picture Viddy when I f*cked other girls."So now was have him convenience f*cking random women. He could just pretend it was her. WOW what a prince...NOT! I should say he was a really nice guy, he would always be helping his ex and allowing her to sit beside him during their first "date."
Here, I stopped again in this story. I honestly did not think I would make it through this book here. Trance should have said something to her here but no he waits and waits f*cking others during his LOVE period. NOPE NOT HAPPENING. Where is the Love?
Alright so we move along the story and more crazy things happen as her ex reveals himself to be a sicko and his crazy ex lay come back to haunt his dick. Yup we have a really F*ckey here. SO MORE ACTION AND MORE DRAMA. THEN WE GET SEX BUT IT IS WEIRD SEX. Right so the heroine is technically a virgin in that she has never had sex with a flesh penis but she got down and dirty with her variety of different dildos. Yeah guys another Heroine from this author who pops her own Cherry with a dildo. Oh joy! So for this weird sex that follows it lost another half star. Now this story has an epilogue which I can only say is AWESOME! However, it could not save the whole book here. It did allow me to see that the drama stopped somewhat and everyone let them settle down and have some puppies babies of their own....SWEET.
That is it for my review here guys. Happy reading and A bientot
Safety: there is OW/OM drama lama, cheating on his feelings for her but no real cheating once they sleep together, safe sex he always uses condoms, and they are faithful after they have sex.
This is Viddy Sheffield & Trance’s story. Viddy is the twin sister of Adeline, the heroine in book 2, Halligan to My Axe. Trance is the K-9 officer for the town of Benton along with his German Shepard dogs, Radar & Kosher. Trance is also a member of the Dixie Wardens MC.
Viddy has been dating an insensitive, self-absorbed, rude doctor who I’ve hated since his character was introduced (also in book 2). But after he’s a complete a-hole, she dumps him. She likes Trance and they are really good friends but she figures that it won’t be going any further because he wouldn’t want a “poor blind girl.”
Trance has liked and wanted to be with Viddy since the first time he ever saw her. But she has never given him the indication that she wanted anything more than just a platonic friendship. He doesn’t want to make a move, just to be rejected, even though he wants nothing more than for Viddy to be his in every way that she can be.
Viddy has also been regaining some of her vision, just a little bit, but when she’s under stress, her vision diminishes greatly. But her world is starting to open up, just like she does to Trance and he does to her. Once that happens they are just the sweetest with each other.
I love when Trance’s blood brothers, Foster and Miller come to visit. They are a lot of fun, they’re funny and extremely loyal, not only to Trance, but also towards Viddy. We also saw Viddy’s sister Adeline & her hubby, Kettle and then the birth of their daughter Saylor.
I loved these characters so much! Their connection started in the last book and only grew stronger here. It was a bit messy and a lot wonderful.
Trance was amazing! He was taking care of and doing right by Viddy before he even had a claim on her. Definite book boyfriend material right here!!
And Viddy... she was such a marvel. After a horrific accident took away her sight, she never let it get her down. She wasn't a victim and there were times that I would forget that she couldn't see. And when miracles happened, I was all for it! Who deserved a bit of magic more?
A creepy stalker, weird police calls, and a ton of fun times amongst the friends made this such a beautiful story to read. I was happy even when I probably shouldn't have been smiling so much at parts, but this book really did it for me. If you love love in all of its forms, you should definitely read this!
Warning, I have read this book about 3 weeks ago and only now writing the review, so the details are a bit blurry.
What I do remember though is that I liked this book. It was a bit more interesting than the first two and I ended up wanting to read more of the series. The characters had chemistry and the plot wasn't awful.
The writing style was more than decent (definitely have to read more of this author), so what more could you want from a romance?
Trance Spurlock has been smitten with Viddy Sheffield from the minute he met her. Her blindness does not make him nervous, but she had a boyfriend and he kept his distance. When Viddy calls trance for help, it is the straw that breaks the camels back and he decides it is time to make a move. The problem is Viddy is hard to read, is she as attracted to him as he is to her?
Throw in a couple of rambunctious brothers, a stalker ex, and life as a cop you have an entertaining story of two people finding their path to one another. This was pure entertainment, I loved every moment of it. Viddy is a hoot, she doesn't let her disability stand in her way. Trance is pure alpha male and so protective of Viddy. One of my favorites so far in this series.
These characters really make me smile. Trance and Viddy were great together and I loved how they seemed to smoothly fall into a sweet yet sexy but at times so funny relationship. Trance had some inconsistencies in the beginning. . going from saying he was head over heels to saying he didn't want to give his heart to her and .. well his ex and how he let her cause drama.. irritated me. But all in all I loved it and will jump into the next asap.

Review in Portuguese and English ----------------- O livro é bem interessante. Recomendo! ------------ The book is very interesting. We have a blind heroine and an alpha male hero in love with her. The hero is still having sex with other women even though he's in love with the heroine. We have two ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriend causing drama. The dogs are cute and the brothers of the hero are hilarious. The story is very good, but it's not one of the best of the author. Still worth reading. Recommend!
Like crops need rain... This series is like crack to an addict for me. Being a lover of biker romance and being married to a fireman I'm getting the full experience in this series. I'm connecting with these women who's men are working crazy hours and putting their lives on the line. And of course the retelling of the crazy calls they have to respond to can be entertaining or heartbreaking depending on the outcome. The K9 aspect of this story was very interesting. I'm sure the animal lovers are really gonna enjoy this one. The deeper I get into this series the more invested I become. The intermingling of the characters who belong to the Dixie Wardens MC, fire department, and police department provide a feeling of family and mutual love and support for each other. I have to admit to some cover lust, Gary Taylor looks good doesn't he? Did you notice his eyes? I met Trance & Viddy in a previous book and was hoping they would end up getting together. It was just too cool that they both have mismatched eye color, so they are the perfect match, right? Well, that's what I thought until I started reading and discovered that Viddy had a boyfriend and Trance was working the 'catch & release' program. So, get ready to dig in and watch as all the layers get peeled back and secrets are revealed, hope is resurrected, b*tches get what they deserve, and t-shirt humor makes a comeback. My favorite part was the laugh-out-loud moments that prove that everything that happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.
I loved this story! I've waited for Viddy and Trance's story for a while since they were great together in Halligan To My Axe (The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC, #2) , but Viddy just didn't break up with her dumb boyfriend, which annoyed me when I read it. Fortunately, she broke up with him at the beginning of this story!
I also loved Viddy's interaction with Trance's brothers, they were so funny! Hope there will be their stories, too.
Read Lani Lynn Vale's stories always made me laugh and cry, never a disappointment!
I'm so in love with this book. I love the relationship between Trance and Viddy. The relationship already started in previous books, so it was great to see how it was going to play out.
This story follows the typical flow and storyline from Lani. It's smooth and very relatable. Not to mention you click with the characters right way since you've already established who they are in previous books.
I loved the drama that Lani threw into this book. I love that even though Viddi was blind, she wasn't weak. And I love that Trance respected that. I also love the aspect of the K9 dogs in the book. I love that we get to see their relationship with Trace on duty and off.
Hmmm, Viddy’s character intrigued me I loved that she is different. Her struggle is what I loved, not because she was blind just because she didn’t do the woe is me shit that I hate.
I will say making her see again kind of disappointed me. I liked when she only had the sliver of sight made the book more interesting then poof she could see it didn’t feel like the same Viddy.
Trance is a good guy and I loved him and his brothers in this book. I think my favorite part was the beginning when he helped her with her dog.
I guess I just wanted something more from this book.
I still very much enjoyed it and I look forward to the next book. LOVED the narration Lidia is a favorite of mine and Mason Oh Nelly that man’s voice
This was my first book by Lani. I actually started in the middle of the series but I will be going back to read the first 2 now. I didn’t have any problems at all picking up in the middle of the series because each book is a standalone. But now that I have read this I want to definitely meet the other characters. This book was fantastic and deservers all 5 stars!!!
When the book starts Viddy is with this awful man Paul who refuses to help with a huge problem she has come across. She calls Trance right away and of course he comes right there to help her. The first few pages of this book had tears running down my face. It broke my heart for Viddy and I don’t know what I would do in her situation.
So in this book Viddy is actually blind. Viddy and her twin sister were in a horrible accident at 16 which caused Viddy to lose her vision. Slowly throughout the years some of Viddy’s vision comes back. Love how she gets so excited when she can see again.
Trance is a cop and he is also a part of a motorcycle club. Most MC books I read focus on club business and the wild life of the guys. But this book mainly focused on Trance as a cop and I loved it.
There are tons of other characters in this book I loved including both of Trance’s brothers and Viddy’s sister and the other brothers of the club. Trance has fought his feelings for Viddy for long time because of his past. But when he finally let’s his guard down the sparks fly between these too. I loved every minute. It has an amazing storyline, lots of laugh of loud moments, some hot steamy scenes, lots of dirty talk, and of course lots of problems that get in the way for these two. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read this first two and patiently wait on the next one.
I AM IN LOVE WITH ANYTHING THIS AUTHOR WRITES. I was searching goodreads and then noticed that this had released so of course I had to snatch it up.
It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Sexy men. Sassy women. Panty wetting love scenes. A++ across the board. I have no bad things to say about this book. As usual I can tell that the author did her research for the fireman and police jargon and procedure. I loved the dog characters. :) I sure do hope Trance's brothers get their stories told. Side note: I hope Silas get's a novella. You're never too old for a happily ever after.
I love the Viddy character and Trance sounds uber hot.
Kevlar to My Vest Heroes of Dixie Wardens MC Series, Book 3 By: Lani Lynn Vale Narrated by: Lidia Dornet, Mason Lloyd Another amusing story Overall 4 out of 5 stars Performance 4 out of 5 stars Story 3 out of 5 stars Reviewed: 01-22-20
This MC is a bit different from the usual “criminals with a heart of gold’-trope often used in MC Romance. The Dixie Wardens MC are cops and firefighters, and natural protectors. I love the stories, but the characters are a bit over the top and the writing isn’t perfect. Still, nice to listen to or read.
That epilogue just about killed me with cuteness! I love each and every LLV book because not only does she give us Alpha heroes and quirky lovable heroines with low - angst , super funny & family filled books, she also gives you epilogues with children!!!
Oakley is so adorable and I am not ashamed to say i reread the epilogue 5 times before I called it quits and marked this book as "read" :P
Viddy and Trance are one of the OG LLV couples and they are one of my favorite LLV couples!
This is probably one of my favorite books by Lani Lynn Vale. The beginning absolutely gutted me. I stated it when I was out running errands and knew I had to put it down and read that part at home, in private where I could let the tears flow...and flow they did. It was an ugly cry scene .
Other than that scene, I absolutely loved this book!!!!
Dear Lord this is fabulous, Vinny and Trance –WooHoo!!! Trance is divine, this biker has a job that I had never expected – he’s a cop, a K-9 officer at that. This lonely cop has his four legged friend to keep him company but he needs more but thinks that he’s had his shot at love before, one that upped sticks and walked away when his job became the straw that broke the camel’s back and because of that he doesn’t feel that he can tread those boards again, he can’t face that scenario and as such he is on his own by design if not actually by choice. But it is a real shame because he has genuine feelings for Viddy, feelings that she has no idea he harbours. But he has an issue to overcome one that is more of a challenge than his reluctance… Viddy has a boyfriend! A waste of space boyfriend who is more interested in keeping her dependant on him and making himself feel better. Operation get shot of the jerk is first on the agenda – but never underestimate Viddy!!! But Viddy may be blind but she is not stupid and when push comes to shove and she needs to have a shoulder to lean on and someone to keep her safe, it is Trance that she turns too. It is him that he trusts to keep her safe and it is him that she wants for her own. With the two of the pulling at opposite ends of the same stick, they are going to have to meet in the middle somewhere and this I know who my money is on because this feisty little woman has her man in her sights!! I love Viddy, she is such a positive powerful character, superb characterization – a much kudo to the author for giving this character the balls to go for what she wants and to let nothing, not even disability stand in her way. And with Trance, the author has dipped into my subconscious and pieced together my absolute wish list of what it takes to be a real man. Someone that will always and I do mean always be the invisible shield between his woman and the world. Someone that can pour all his love into every single word he says and leaves you in no doubt that you are the reason that he draws his next breath. He is quite simply everything a woman could possibly want. Again I could wax lyrical about the merits of this story and the detail that yet again is piled on to each and every page. I could sing the praises of all the characters and implore you to give them a shot because you will not be disappointed but what I really want to say is please treat yourself and either continue to immerse yourself in this amazing series or if you haven’t started yet, please take this opportunity to discover what is a fabulous series this is for yourself and while away some hours with the lives and loves of The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC
Kevlar to My Vest (Heroes of The Dixie Wardens MC #3) By: Lani Lynn Vale 5/5 stars

This book focused more on Trance’s life as a K-9 officer and Viddy as a special education teacher rather than the MC life and the club itself. Though the members are in this book, and they do have some roles, just not a main point like in book 1, Lights to My Siren, since Sebastian (the hero) was the VP of the club.
I also loved the epilogue that went beyond the ending of this book by several years. I like getting to see their future families, it also makes me look forward to seeing how that plays out in the following books of a series.
I LOVED Trance, I LOVED Viddy and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED them together. And I mean, how cool is it that they both have the same unique pair of eyes?!
Trance... Loved how he fell for Viddy the moment he picked her up on the side of the road, in Halligan to My Axe. He cares for her so much, he's always there for her, he's completely adorable with his dogs, in a very family-oriented motorcycle club, a police officer... Basically, he's an all-around HOT and great guy!
Viddy... Loved how she didn't let her disability limit her. She's independent, honest, loving, smart and has a smart-*ss personality. Not to mention the fact that she can kick some serious butt... and she's legally blind! Take that super skanks!!
Speaking of Tillie... There were three b****es who tried to ruin my... I mean Trance & Viddy's... HEA but have no fear, they didn't get very far. They managed to cause some stressful and uncomfortable situations but Trance and Viddy are a strong couple together. That whole love conquers all thing... It's totally awesome when it does!
The Vegas trip was funny (the aftermath was perfect), albeit too short. It kinda came out of the blue... just like when that skanky-*ss Tillie was rubbing her naked chest in Trance's face while he was passed out. (It was like BOOM... there's half-naked Tillie, BOOM... Viddy's ready to pounce, WAIT... does she know who Tillie's pouncing on?, then BOOM... she yanks Tillie off to see Trance. She kinda lucked out with that one, IMO. LOVED her beatin' down Tillie though!)
Very cute epilogue with a super sweet ending!
Extremely happy that I don't have to wait long for book four in the series, Keys to My Cuffs! Bring on Loki's HEA!!
Another 5 star read from Lani Lynn Vale. While each book in this series can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the series in order. Not just to get the backstory but because their just that good!
The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC series is not your typical cookie cutter MC series, which is a breath of fresh air. Each member has a job outside the club, a life, a relationship and that's what the books focus on.
Kevlar to My Vest is Trance's story. Not only is Trance a member of the MC, he's cop. He's also head over heels in love with a woman who has no idea. Trance believes he should just try to forget her because she won't be happy as his wife, that she deserves better than being married to a cop. He loved before and she walked away because of his job so he believes that is just the way it is. Lucky for him Viddy has a mind of her own! Viddy is blind and dating a jerk who treats her like a child and belittles her. When Viddy needs help it's Trance to protect her, he's the first person she calls when she is afraid or needs help. She's also hot for Trance. These two dance around their feelings for each other a bit but when they finally come together their explosive. I love Viddy and Trance, she's a strong female lead and he is what we all dream of; a protector, a bad boy, a man who loves one woman with his whole heart and won't let anything or anyone come between them. I look forward to more from this author in the future.
