I'm sorry, but I can not recommend this and I RARELY ever say that. I'm usually a YMMV, but for the price of this and the content I just can't justify to anyone forking over that kind of cash. I apologize to the author for this opening remark, but it's the truth, in my opinion.

Now onto the story. There were editing errors like crazy and if I spend $6.99 US it better be damn near perfection. I can normally overlook so much, but it was like everything was glaring at me. Not even grammar/punctuation, but the story itself. Like Alpha's can't have male children, but somehow Armand La Marche is a direct decedent of top wolf, Alpha Guy La Marche. How could that be? I'm confused.

Sean. You are seriously TSTL. I am not even kidding. But, after a while you kind your stupidity kind of grew on me.

you are dumb photo: You Are Dumb!! 89feb_miley_cyrus_Antoine-Dodson-Gif.gif

Armand. There just are no words. You acted like you had a stick up your ass. Hell, you even had Sean acting all high and mighty "Pierre help Armand into his robe." Seriously? Armand, put on your own fucking robe! I think the icing on the cake was calling the women bearing children "pregnant bitches". Really? You are so fucking high and mighty yet you use "pregnant bitches"? Armand even had his clothes made for him. Come on! Mr. High Society can't go shopping :(

shaking head photo: Tim Gunn Shaking Head .GIF PRTimGunnNo.gif

I have to say I did like their shopping trip to Costco.

The interview? Seriously?

shaking head photo: Nina SMH NinaSMH.gif

Now, onto the baddies. Sooooooooo.....these were's can't track or scent?

WTF is "the voice"? All we know is that Sean will have it and he'll save babies. Seriously? I really wished we learned more about this.

Also, WHY in the hell did they wait to mate? This made ZERO sense to me. Am I just slow on the uptake and didn't get it? Ugh.

Elena was adorable though :)

Because of the price and content I will not be moving on in this series :(

DNF'd at 28% because the writing was just so ludicrous. Smarmy, unrealistic dialogue and characters I wanted to spork to death.

Unfortunately, this book suffered from having first-book-in-a-series syndrome by spending too much time on world-building.

Sean Quinn is beaten by the man he thought to be his father and then kicked out of the house. Cut off from his money, he is faced with having to drop out of school just a month or so short of finishing. In a final attempt to make money any way he can, he considers selling himself on the streets, like his friend Leroy. While Leroy is starting to 'train' Sean, they cross the path of a dangerous man known as "The Russian" who seems to be able to scent Sean. Leroy tries to help Sean get away, but loses his life in the fight. Bloody, Sean stumbles into the streets, into the path of a limousine occupied by Armand LaMarche, head Alpha of the North American Loup Garou council.

A whiff of Sean's blood tells Armand two things at once - he's found his mate, and his mate is a rare Omega wolf. He hustles Sean into the limo and takes him to his estate to heal, and claim him.

The story unfolds from there as Sean recuperates, learns about his heritage, learns about his Omega status and what special talent that may entail, while leery at Armand being so nice to him and offering him a place to live. He's drawn to the Alpha immediately, feeling safe in Armand's arms, but unsure of what to make of the deference he's shown and the new information he's given.

This book is a romance as much as it's a thriller - as Sean and Armand get closer, they face dangers from The Russian and from other shifters within Armand's area.

What threw me for the most part is the very proper and somewhat stiff way in which Armand talks - the dialogue often felt inorganic, though I suppose for a man hundreds of years old, that could be explained with his age. Sean definitely came across as a young man of this age and time.

While I connected with Sean to some extent, I had a difficult time connecting with Armand, possibly because of how inorganic he felt to me. The extraordinary amount spent on describing their surroundings, down to the clothes they wear and the food they eat, combined with a higher than expected amount of errors within the text also made it difficult to immerse myself into this world. As it so often happens with first books in a series, a lot of words were spent on world-building. We got a lot of historical facts about the shifters in this book, plus long monologues about their business dealings from Armand, and the book often felt too much like a history text book.

I also had some issues with Armand's insistence, in the face of real and imminent danger that the "mating" be postponed until they could get to some important compound, instead of him claiming his mate at the first possible opportunity to bind himself to Sean and vice versa. I didn't understand why, and no discernible reason was given. He felt unrealistic to me, which was only compounded by his apparent lack of sense, considering he's a rich (and somewhat spoiled) business owner in the 21st century, no matter his true age.

What did work for me were the scenes that were directly between Armand and Sean as far as their relationship was concerned. Although it felt rushed for the most part (Who Are You to I Love You within a few pages, or so it seemed), and conveniently furthered by the mating compulsion, their romance started to feel realistic enough, and by the end, I believed that they loved each other. Armand learning to be more "with the times" made me chuckle on occasion, and I thought that Sean was a good influence on him.

But - possibly a major plothole with Alphas being unable to father male cubs. How then do Alphas have descendants? I didn't quite understand that whole thing. Also, the aspect of Sean's talent that wouldn't become fully functional until after the mating - if that's the case, why would the Russian think he could force him to do his bidding?

What was also lacking was the sexual chemistry between the two main characters. Their pillow talk was cringe-worthy for the most part, and I thought that mentioning "fisting" was a bit much. While the scenes were explicit, they didn't feel realistic to me. YMMV.

There was one subplot with a young wolf girl who needs parents, and I thought that the solution was believable and worked in this setting.

I hope that the next book in this series will focus less on world-building and more on fleshing out the characters and story within. Also, while I can't blame the author for the apparent lack of editing, I hope that the next book will receive the rigorous attention to detail that should have been applied to this one. A published novel should not be riddled with typographical and grammatical errors.

** I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not promised in return. **

***3.5*** // 1 1/2 of the stars are for the audio

A few days ago a friend sent me a pic of his late night "snack": a frosted Twinkie with sprinkles on two scoops of vanilla ice cream. I almost threw up in my mouth because I'm generally the person who skips dessert after diner. Not a sweets lover. At all. And yet ... oh Joel Leslie the things you make me do.

If you're in a generous mood, need to have your hands free, and don't want to engage your brain too much this might work for you. This is basically a Cinderella story of pure, good, and unknowingly talented Sean meeting his true mate Armand, the most powerful (and rich) Alpha in North America and falling head over heels for each other.

I'm willing to accept all the blah blah blah that goes with the creation of this world, where Sean is cavity-inducing sweet and good and so is Armand. That kind of INSTA love is acceptable within PNR romance so I won't gripe about that, however this could probably be about 50 pages long. I don't know exactly how long it is or how well it's written because it was an audio and duh Joel Leslie, who can turn dross into gold. Still there were hours dedicated to explaining to Sean EVERYTHING about werewolves, pack life, mates, etc. The excuse is that Sean has been raised in the human world and thus needs elucidation but it could've been a bit more show and less tell. It felt more like intro information to set up the series. No shame in that but it could've been handled in a different way.

This is as good a place as any to lay out another general gripe, but one which comes to play in this book. Whenever I read a romance where one of the MCs is rich, like beyond millionaire rich, the working class/less financially fortunate MC must strenuously refuse gifts or be uncomfortable living in luxury to prove ... what? Moral integrity? Goodness? Dunno. At one point in this story Sean takes Armand to Costco to buy Halloween candy because buying in bulk will be cheaper. Really? Is it meant to be funny? Because Armand is the CEO of a Holding Company worth billions. Later they go shopping and Sean wants to buy children's clothing at J.C. Penny because they outgrow it quickly and Armand's suggestion of Macy's is shot down as too expensive. Really? Warren Buffet is the anomaly among our current crop of billionaires.

“I am loup-garou and you are my mate.”

Armand Le Marche, 150, Chief Alpha of the Loup-garou Council of North America. When a young man ran into the road and stops his car in search of help, Armand knows he has finally found his Omega, his mate.

Sean Quinn, 24, after being beaten and kicked out by his stepfather for being gay ran into some bad luck. He is homeless and desperate for money. When he and a friend stumble onto a murderer Sean flees to the street, manages to stop a car and falls into the hands of Armand Le Marché.

Armand is a powerful Alpha and is convinced his Omega is one of great talent. He will do anything to keep him safe and make him happy. He came across as very caring, tenderhearted and warm Alpha not only towards Sean but towards his pack as well.

The plot of the story looked like one that could have been a strong one but I had a hard time finishing this book. The writing felt a little flat. The book could use a good editing, missing words, double words, wrong names, awkward sentences and too much dialogue.
I also had trouble to become invested into the characters. Although I felt very sorry for Sean after chapter one, I think we should have got to know more about his struggles. I would have loved to read more of the characters, there is no inner dialogue to make the MC’s come more to life.

I LOVED the story line but the writing was very...underwhelming. The editing was awful! There were sequences out of order, missing words, grammar and so much more. I normally don't judge a book based on the editing. Authors aren't always totally responsible for this, a publisher should make sure a lot of these errors are caught. This case is an exception because of the extreme nature and the fact that it puts so many errors into the story itself.

I did like the characters. (Sean is a little unbelievable. His is a bit naive for his life and innocent.) I thought the story itself could have been great. I loved the ideas and the overall story line of the book. It is unfortunate that the errors in the book weren't caught and corrected. I think this could be a really good book if re-edited correctly.

Okay I like to read....a lot. I know not every book is a winner. Some are good, fair, showing promise, some set the ground work for a series and some are guilty pleasures. Yup, this is a guilty pleasure for sure. A.C.Kitt has a great ideas but the follow through is weak. Her pacing is off and she needs to really improve her action scenes. Kitt uses NYC very well but then never made an attempt give the Southwest a sense of place. The characters were caricatures but oddly enough I liked this enough to finish the book and plan on reading the next. Can this writer improve? I hope so.
If this hadn't been a gift I wouldn't have bought it. I buy too many books to pay that price for this short a read.

This book is terrible. I had it on my "sample says no" shelf, and I am so annoyed I ignored myself. Not only is the writing (and especially the dialogue) stilted and choppy AF, there's SO much wrong with the interactions between the MCs in the first 24 hrs of meeting. I'm talking, character in shock but the other thinks it's cool to hold and kiss him while unconscious, uninvited showering and jerking off kind of WRONG. The "fated mate so let's ignore consent and decency" factor here is astronomical.

But also, DID I MENTION THE WRITING? Words mean things, and you can't just use "abet" when you probably mean "albeit" even though that's a terrible choice too. I highlighted SO many errors, my finger was getting tired.

And if, IF you can get past those things, the world building is bullshit. The backstory is dumped all over the one dude's head (and therefore the reader's), he BELIEVES IT ALL, and it's supremely simplistic awfulness. Plus, inconsistencies around Alpha's can't have male children except...yeah. Pro-tip authors: you want to be sure you're not contradicting yourself with the very existence of an MC. Just sayin'. And "bitches"??? The loup garou are wolves; I get it. But you think calling all the females "bitches" is helpful? Also, can we talk about the extreme misogyny in the leadership--as in, it's an all male world up in here. Maybe you CAN use "bitches" so much when you treat them all like that.

I only made it 25% in and feel confident in saying no one should read this. It's painfully bad, and I'm thoroughly annoyed I ignored myself.

I will admit this one took me awhile to get into and sometimes Armand's over the top possessive attitude would get on my nerves. It was just a little to much sometimes but other then that I thought this book was really good.
So Seth comes running out of Alley after almost being killed. Well he runs right up to Arman's limo and starts pounding on the door for help. Well as soon as Armand scents his mate is Seth let me say he did not let him out of his sight again after that.
You get danger in this book and steam which was really good. But I am not sure how I feel about Seth's character after this book because the way he just accepted everything so quickly was hard for me to wrap my head around to be honest.
So all together I did like this book even though some parts were a little annoying with Armand over possessive attitude and Seth's easy acceptance of everything. I also did really like the way this author built this shifter world in this book.
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.

This was an older book from my shelf that I got as a freebie. I've been systematically working through the stack and decided an uptown billionaire werewolf romance sounded the thing. I wasn't far in and actually got a Cinderella gender bender vibe.

The opening was strong for me, but then descended into high cheese and problems. The alpha was written so that he was suffocating and insufferable with his 'baby' every other sentence and taking utter control of Sean's every breath it seemed. Sean was not written much better once he was with Armand.

I can go with a fated mates trope and love several books with it, but this one didn't work. Sean didn't even know about werewolves or that he was one and then it took all of five seconds for him and Armand to exchange the I love yous and the werewolf reveal.

Yeah, this book just rushed through all the important stuff. Dumped the world building on the reader, didn't develop the characters or the romance or the actual plot but yet took the time to detail out the non-essentials.

I finished because it was short, but I won't be recommending it or going on with the series.

I liked this. But that's really about all I can say about it. The story was short, sweet, along the lines of the usual shifter boy not realizing he's a shifter until he meets his alpha. He's omega so he's special, etc. But what made this great for me was Joel Leslie's audio performance. I love this narrator and the range of vocalizations and the sweet cute guy voice he used was delightful. I'm heading for book two, because...Joel. :D

I don't know if it was the fact that I listened to this an audiobook that made me dislike this book as much as I did or not. The narrator (Joel Leslie) is somebody I know and am a huge fan of, which is why I picked this book up, he turned out to be really the only good part about this book.
Perhaps if I had read it the flaws wouldn't have been as glaring, but I doubt it.
The writer of this book uses some of the most common misogynistic tropes common in books like this. With an artistic, smart but without opinions, twink omega, that constantly needs to be cared for and wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap, and serves more as a mcguffin than a fully fledged person. And an big, strong, perfect in every way, rich and powerful alpha, that makes all the decisions without ever so much as considering that maybe his partner had the right to have some kind of input in his decisions.

Outside of the character flaws, this book is a hot mess, the two worst problems, and the two that drove me the craziest, were that the author really needs to understand the difference between showing a scene or situation, aka actually writing it out so that the reader could see it, they instead had the characters tell us about it.
If they could have the important scenes told instead of described they probably would have. Instead of having it as 'character A did X, Y, Z, resulting in our seeing situation B' they would talk about how character A did X, Y, Z and we need to do situation B' but never actually see X, Y, Z or B.
Which leads into the other problem, that everything is repeated, often two or more times. One MC would explain something- almost anything- then the POV would change and the same thing would be thought about reexplaining it. It got worse when a third character would explain something to one of the MC's, then the MC would reexplain it to the other MC and then the POV would shift and the other MC would reexplain it for a third time.

Everything about this book is contrived, both of the MC's are special with one of them being the chosen one who can bring peace to the world via the power of his very existence. All the characters are one dimensional and without any real personality beyond the place they were created to fill. The situations, when we actually see them played out, are uninteresting and solved via some kind of easy, random solution.

It all dissolves at the very end, where there's a random, unnecessary dues ex machina moment that didn't actually do anything of any real importance.

Also, there is a constant use of the word 'bitches' to describe women, and especially grating is the use of 'pregnant bitches' that made me want to grab the author and shake them.

"Okay story, amazing narration"
What made the experience of listening to His Omega the most enjoyable?
Joel Leslie's narration, he did a great job of making sure each character had their own voice. Not just that, there were many cultures with varying accents involved in the storyline (French, British, Russian, Irish) and he nailed each and every one.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The various aspects and characteristics of Sean as the Omega and Alpha Mate of the pack was different enough from most shifter stories to intrigue me.

I cannot keep count of how many times Armand called Sean 'baby' - it was distracting and almost nails on a chalk board frustrating because the one hundred fifty something year old Alpha couldn't string two sentences together without using the term.

What does Joel Leslie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He thoroughly conveys every accent flawlessly, which only adds to the depth of the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The conversations with Sean, Armand and their wolf cub adopted daughter.

Any additional comments?
Story: 2.5 stars
Performance: 5 stars
Overall: 3.75 stars

I was drawn into this story from the start and while it was mostly Leslie's narration that kept me hinged to the book, there were some good aspects to the actual story itself as well. The world of this particular Shifter community and the way things were described that was just different enough to keep me intrigued. The hierarchy and the way things were set up, dealt with and the way everything played out spoke of the Author's skills to build this world and create the characters.

The breakdowns for me were that a Centuries old Alpha wolf only seemed to know ONE term of endearment, baby. Sean's complete change of heart literally from one minute to the next. The use of the term "bitch" when referring to damn near every female wolf. And the anit-climatic ending. I wanted a bit more of an explosion and, I actually liked what took place with Sean at the end and would have loved that to be explored a bit more.

Leslie's narration as always was spot on. He nailed every accent, tone and inflection with precision and truly brought the characters to life for me. While I'm unsure if I would read or recommend the written story, I highly recommend the audiobook because it is such a treat, even with the aspects of the story that I didn't care for.

Spoiler Ahead This was a good book that I didn't want to end. Sean Quinn was raised by his abusive stepfather after his mother died when he comes out to him his father beats him and puts him out but not before telling him he is not his father and refusing to give him his trust fund. Sean becomes homeless after the museum he works at closes so after not eating for a few days he decides to become a rentboy. When Sean's friend Leroy is gutted while trying to protect him. He runs for help and stops the first car he sees. Armand La Marche is the head Alpha of North American werewolf council when Sean runs in front of his car his drive stops to help when Armand looks at Sean he knows that he has found his mate. This was a good book I wanted more. Sean had know idea that he is part wolf or that he is an omega with a special gift. Armand knows that he has to keep his mate safe the man that killed his friend is a wolf who I'd killing humans and will stop at nothing to get Sean. I also really liked this book cover. Sean feels overwhelmed he is not use to being spoiled he wants to find his own way. I really liked both of these characters Sean was so sweet and kind and loving Armand Is a hot sexy Alpha who also had a kind and loving side and when his mate is kidnapped he will stop at nothing to get him back turns out Sean is not one for sitting around waiting to be rescued. The sex scenes between these two were hot. This was the first book in a new series to me and this is my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

wow, okay. im not even going to rate this book. I thought it would be decent enough. but, as I got a little further a long I realized that the writing was just awful.

the plot going no where.

the way the characters spoke was stilt, stiff, forced, and flat. the main

characters had zero chemestry of any kind.

and for the love of everything, the use of "pregnant bitches" grated on my every last nerve.
so with that, I will FLAT out not rate this book. but I will mark it as a Dislike.

1.5 stars.

The storyline had promise, which is why I've given it a 1.5.

I persevered to the end in an attempt to hopefully not waste my $6.99US (closer to $9Aust with conversion and bank fees) UGH!

The writing style was all over the place and quite juvenile, not even factoring in the gramatical errors and parts of the plot that made absolutely no sense (if an alpha can't have male children and all young born to a surrogate are female.. how was Armand LaMarch a direct male descendant of Guy LaMarch?)..

If this author had an editor for this book, the person needs firing!

On the off chance the author could give a guarantee that any future books were thoroughly edited by a competent person, I'd probably read a sequel.

I adore this series, and I wish it could have continued longer. Unfortunately, the author passed away, so she couldn't continue to write past the first eight books, but you could tell that she had more stories to tell. This is probably my 3rd or 4th time reading it, but it is still just as good each time I read it.
Sean is running for his life when he runs into Armand's limo. Instant attraction from both of them, although Sean doesn't understand why he feels this compulsion toward Armand. This book lays out a bit about the world and how werewolves work in the world. Some typos and sentence structure are a bit odd and make it hard to read at times, but I still enjoyed the story and the characters.

Hmmmm. . most of the time I had a little trouble with the stilted conversions between the characters in the book. A little formal. ..a little slang thrown in here and there. .. back to being formal. I actually didn't have a problem with the insta-love aspect. .. just. .. WHY the insta-love?? ("I don't know you. .... Oh my God I LOVE you"!!) (Blinking) In my humble opinion. .I could've used just a bit of, how shall I say this? ?? Uh, a little more retribution at the end. . a knock down, drag out, I AM ALPHA and Imma kick your Ass kinda thing. The ending was soooooooo anticlimactic for me. The whole book was just "allmostthere", but never reeeally made it.
