Tucked away in the Pacific Northwest with my wife Denise, a Border Collie named Aoife, a guitar collection, and an increasing number of aquariums sporting a variety of fish (cichlids are my new favorites), I live for football season when I can cheer on the Oregon Ducks and be disappointed by my Seattle Seahawks once again. I am a fan of Cookie Monster, KISS, and Dr. Who (along with most things British).
As a person who always dreamed of writing as well as one completely enthralled by all things zombie, it is hard to believe that I never once considered writing in the genre. It is true. I wanted to be more “mainstream”. The first novel I actually wrote is titled Dakota (as Todd Brown). It is about a pair of DEA types tossed back in time to just prior to the start of the Civil War. They are in Charleston, South Carolina, and one of them is an African-American.
The zombie thing really started when I wrote a short for a college Creative Writing class. The teacher, Ms. Bose, pulled me up and told me I had an obvious love for the subject and a real talent for the style. I decided to give it a shot.
The first thing I cobbled together was Zomblog. I wrote it as a warm up for the project I had brewing in the back of my mind. It is a journal account of the apocalypse. The funny thing is that it was never intended to be published. A few things happened and it ended up being presented to me as a gift in book format by my wife for a Christmas present. There was something I will never forget about holding the copy of that book in my hand the first time. Because it gained a readership, and those readers asked for more, I made it a trilogy (Zomblog, Zomblog II, and Zomblog: The Final Entry). It is also because of those fans that I have returned to the Zomblog universe and just released the sixth (and FINAL) book in the series on Halloween of 2013: Zomblog: Snoe's Journey. I freely admit that I will sellout my plans to write what the fans ask for.
I really want my DEAD series to be what I am known for, and in the last year, it has really taken off. However, I will say that with the release of the fourth book in the DEAD series (DEAD: Winter), the numbers started to pick up beyond my wildest dreams.
The DEAD series (DEAD: The Ugly Beginning, DEAD: Revelations, and DEAD: Fortunes & Failures, DEAD: Winter, DEAD: Siege & Survival, DEAD: Confrontation, DEAD: Reborn) is scheduled to be a 12 part epic series.
It is told in three rotating chapters. One is from the first person perspective of Steve Hobart, a man thrust into the role of leader for a group of survivors struggling to keep alive. One chapter follows a group of four self-professed zombie “geeks” who initially believe that the zombie apocalypse would be fun and soon discover that it is nothing like the movies. The third of the rotating chapters is called “Vignettes” and is a series of snapshots from all around the world. Some of the vignettes are single chapter episodes, others are continuing threads that carry on for several chapters. A few are merged into the Steve story or the Geek story line.
Last year,I began my horror/comedy series, "That Ghoul Ava" and have found it to be my new guilty pleasure.
I had put off reading this for quite a while because the size of the entire series was a bit daunting. Now I wish I had read it much sooner. Despite the amount of writing this series is comprised of none of it is frivolous or in any way padding, such as excessive descriptions of items or places that don't actually contribute to the story or will likely even be remembered. Every aspect of the series was great but what I found most incredible is how the author managed to make three very different characters, an adult man, an adult woman, and a teen girl, not only come to life as very distinct individuals but actually feel as if three different people actually had written them. An incredibly well written story that I would recommend to everyone who enjoys this genre!
This was a great series. More about the way that different types of people might try to rebuild or just survive after the zombie apocalypse. All around a good series that drives a reader on and at the same time asks some fundamental questions about who people really are and what they might be like if there were no laws or rules in place... I should warn you that this is not for the faint of heart, there is violence of every kind. Keep that in mind.
I have read many..many zombie books. This is one of the best series I have read. I read the whole box set in four days. I couldn't put it down. The only thing I had a problem with was the ending. I wanted to see how the world was ten years or so into the future. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Good stuff!!
I can't tell you how much I loved this collection of books. I started reading them on 10/01/15 and finished on 10/08/15. I only stopped long enough to sleep a little. Will tell everyone about them. Ruby
I bought this set of books to read during my breaks at work. Originally got it as it was on offer on Amazon, it was the best deal I ever had as I was hooked from the start and have since read all the authors DEAD series. Would highly recommend to anyone, especially fans of the zombie genre.
This is perhaps the best zombie series I ever read (and listened to via audible). It was exhilarating, adventurous, engaging and just all round fun to read.
The Zomblog Saga is an action packed thriller that encompasses 20+ years of the apocalypse as seen through the eyes of a single person's daily entries into a personal journal. Initially, we follow the adventures of Sam from the days just prior to the apocalypse through his quest for survival during the next couple of years. Sure, this story is about zombies, but it soon begins to focus more on the lives of survivors. Readers follow Sam through his exploits; we meet new characters, who join up with him on his trek to locate other pockets of survivors. Just when I was getting to like them - they leave; either by splintering off to go their own way or by dying at the hands of a zombie. Nobody is immune! Wait a minute, I take that back - some survivors are immune to the disease, but may die by a bullet.
Sam falls in love with a fellow companion, Meridith, who soon becomes pregnant with his child. When Sam falls to the zombies, Meridith takes over the journal entries - continuing the trek that Sam was following. It is sad to discover that rabid gangs of humans are now roaming the frontier and killing all who they meet. These small settlements are no match against these groups who use military equipment, weapons and hordes of zombies to do their bidding. Meridith gives birth to a baby girl, Snoe, and gives her up to a chosen couple to raise in the safety of the settlement so she may get on with her journey. Meridith continues the journal entries during her trek, a letter is included in its pack in the event of her untimely death, to inform anyone finding it to please return it to her daughter.
The next series picks up 16 yrs. later. Meridith has been dead for more than a decade, the journals were discovered years later and turned over to the authorities. Both were copied through the years, distributed and shared by survivors in the northwest. Many of them in Oregon had known them personally or had once met them on the frontier. Both Sam and Meridith are celebrities - readers have gone out and followed in their footsteps, recognizing many of those places written about in the journals along the way.
Snoe had read the journals many times over - the world has changed greatly in the past 16 years. There are still zombies, settlements, independent military units, governments, gangs and a growing threat of religious fanatics, who want to cleanse the world of all non-believers. Thus begins the third journal, as Snoe records those future events that may lead to the end of days.
Awesome read. My only complaint is the number of typos and other errors encountered through the story. They don't take away from the story, but did cost the author a 5th star.

Let me preface my review with, I am not a regular “zombie” genre fan. One night I was looking for something different and my wife suggested TW Brown’s Zomblog. Our reading preferences are total opposites, and I’m not a fan of series books, but I decided to give Zomblog a try. YIKES! Zomblog knocked the wind outa’ me! This author is WTH just happened, holy crap!, who thinks this stuff up, cringing while you’re reading…amazing! This story action packed, horrifying, tragic, and just so freaking realistic. Almost impossible to put down, on more than on occasion I snuck out to the kitchen to read a couple more chapters. Just when you think you've seen humanity at our absolute worst, we kick it up a notch and get far worse! I was absolutely totally bummed when it ended, and immediately purchased Brown’s “The Dead Series”. READ THIS SERIES!!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!! Highly Recommend!!!
This series is only 'ok' to me. It has story mistakes, not too many, but they were there enough for me to catch and think about as I finished the series. Now, I'm not talking spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, though those are present too.
It's definitely different from anything I've read. Entertaining enough to suggest it to others and have me consider checking out the author's other books.
Superb read, don't be put off if you find this box set on offer and assume it can't be up too much at that price. This has excellent well thought out and fully, for the most part at least, characters. It's full of quite unique scenarios and doesn't always go the way you may assume. Very highly recommended. Hat's off to Mr Brown.
I loved reading the story from several different points of view. made me actually feel as if I was there. I was angry as I read at how callous Meredith seemed, but reading further and further could understand why she was the way she was. good series.
Take the time to read this. This was a good deal on a good story, I very much enjoyed the story line in this. If you are into the zombie theme take the time to grab this and enjoy it.
I'm no 'prepper' but I do love the pure nonsense of apocalyptic fiction. Despite the obvious insanity of the core subject matter, there is often an underlying plot, which holds the story in the vague vicinity of reality. In the case of Zomblog, it's there in abundance.
The interactions between the main characters, both living and dead, throughout the entire timeline, makes Walking Dead look even more disjointed than it is, and I'm a massive WD fan. This would make a simply awesome TV series, without the need for too much tinkering.
