There are romance books that are fluffy but cute and gorgeous and clever and make you swoon and then there are the light and fluffy romance books that are too light, too fluffy, cringeworthy and primitive and this one is the latter.
A sweet heartfelt story about two people running from their past and trying to make a new life for themselves.
Country music legend Alan Jennings is touring again. His granddaughter Emma Jean Wells has decided to join him since this is his last tour. She turned away from country music because of the bad memories it brought her. She has been living the quiet life as a school teacher in Georgia.
Hudson Scott is Alan's body guard for the summer. He ran from his home in Montana after his terrible argument with his father.
While spending time in the cramped confines of the tour bus, Emma and Hudson grow close and start sharing their secrets and become more than just friends. The last stop on the tour is the Montana Fair. What will become of this summer romance when Hudson decides it's finally time to stop running and go back home for good? Is their new relationship strong enough for one to pick up and move to be with the other? Or, will they just say goodbye and leave it as a summer fling?
This is a story of stopping running, facing the future and taking risks. The heroine is Emma Wells. Her way of running was to stop performing and touring with her grandfather, Alan Jenkins, a famous country music legend performer, hiding herself and her talent away instead of performing with him on stage. When she goes to wish him well on his latest tour, she is initially stopped by his friend and bodyguard, Hudson Scott and the attraction between them is immediately there. However, he’s also been running, distancing himself from family and friends after falling out with his father following his mother’s death. When Emma is coerced into joining this last tour the two will be there for the summer. Is this the chance for her to have a fling with her summer cowboy or will something more meaningful develop? Can they both face their fears and find love together or will the past and problems thwart their romance? You’ll just have to read it for yourself to find out!
This author writes delightful, ‘easy read’, relaxing stories that are great to escape into and this is another great one with much of it set in Marietta, Montana. It is part of a series (or two!) but still works well as a standalone, though there are characters in this story who also appear in others - including Hudson’s four brothers! The feelings of guilt, the facing up to mistakes made, together with having the resilience and determination to try again are all key elements in this lovely novella. This is a wonderful addition to both series and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys their romances with a country and western twist and handsome cowboy!
Emma and Hudson are two people who are both running from their pasts. Hudson ends up as being a bodyguard/security for her grandfather who is a country music legend but is doing a farewell tour for the summer. He tricks his granddaughter, Emma, into coming on the summer and sing backup for him. Emma and Hudson are fighting their feeling for each other at first but as time goes on the end up acting g on those feelings. Will they just be a summer fling or will they admit their feelings are more than that? What will happen when they get to Marietta? Will Hudson and his dad fix their relationship that broke after his mom died?
Not 18 anymore. Emma ran from her problems buy hiding and staying still. Hudson ran from his by constantly moving. Being on the road together and spending time together helped them grow emotionally and figure out what they truly want and need. Overall quality of writing was good, the ending seemed abrupt, and there is an implied happy ending. A few mildly steamy intimacy scenes, no cheating or cliffhanger and the proofreading had a few minor glitches. Enjoy
Emma Wells is attempting to visit her grandfather's tour bus when she is stopped by Hudson who assumes she is a groupie. He did think she seemed a little young for Alan Jennings. Jennings is trying to convince Emma to come on his tour for the summer. He hadn't told her yet it was a retirement tour.

Cute read about Emma Wells, the granddaughter of famous country singer Allen Wells. Hudson is Allen's bodyguard/horse wrangler. This book is an easy read, standalone HEA. I enjoyed reading this book and learning the workings of a tour as well as a good storyline.
I've always loved country music and mixing a romance with my favourite genre...yes please! A handsome cowboy and a relateable gal...what more could you want!?
After years of a self-imposed exile, Hudson Scott is heading home, if only as security for country music legend Alan Jennings's Farewell Tour. As the tour winds its way toward the Big Marietta Fair, however, Hudson will be forced to answer the question of whether he wants to continue his travels after the tour, or if it is time to mend fences and settle down. The decision could be a lot easier if he had someone to settle down with.
The entire world knows Ella Wells's name and story, even if they haven't actually met her personally. Thanks to her grandfather and father both writing and singing songs about her as a child, she has lived most of her life in the glare of the spotlight. After her father's tragic death, however, Ella left the Nashville and the music industry far behind, preferring the anonymous life of a school teacher to the lure of the stage. Now that her grandfather has decided to retire from the road, he is calling in a promise she made to him years ago: to tour with him one final time. Putting aside her fears and insecurities about living up to her family's legacy, Ella embarks on a life changing adventure with her grandfather and the sexy cowboy he has hired for the summer.
The Scott Family are full of strong characters, and Hudson definitely lived up to his part. There is so much to love about this family. From their touching tradition of Wednesday dinners at the Diner, to their tendency to butt in to other family members' business, there is no doubt that they love each other. I am really looking forward to reading more about them...hopefully Lane gets his story soon, because no one can resist a wounded soldier hero.
As far as Ella's contribution to this story, I loved the hints of country music history. Everything from the naming of characters (odes to Waylon Jennings and Keith Whitley), a character growing up in the spotlight due to her family's fame (a la Rosanne Cash and Carlene Carter), and a tragic death caused by an inability to cope with fame (though this could be many, I am going with Keith Whitley due to the character's name).
Overall, I would have loved for this story to have been longer. The story was intriguing and fun. Personally I want to know what happened to Ella's mom, and would have loved to have heard more about her dad.

Emma Wells grew up in Country Music, but walked away because it was too painful. Though she has a new life, each summer she comes to see her Grandfather off on his tours. Thinking this year is no different, she arrives to the unexpected news that this summer is a farewell tour, and he is holding her to her promise to tour with him one last time. The next surprise for Emma comes in the form of her grandfather's security head. Hudson Scott. Hudson, originally from Marietta, has been on the road in some form for too long. The summer tour ends at the fair Marietta, and he plans to stay and find his place. There are sparks, but these two have different places they plan to be, so they agree to a summer romance. As they get to know each other, can they trust their feelings and themselves to turn a summer fling into a permanent relationship with a future?
This is the first novella in any of the Montana Born series that did not wow me. The characters and story had potential, but I didn't feel they had enough development. I wanted more interaction between them and more getting to know them. I felt rushed, and, to me, some of the writing even felt rushed. I did like that we ran into characters from previous stories, and I can't wait to find out what is in store for Lane, the wounded veteran and Hudson's little brother. As a novella, it was meant to be a shorter story, but I feel it could have been a little longer. I also wish there had been more of Marietta and the fair.
Her Summer Cowboy: The Scott Brothers of Montana Book 2 is by Katherine Garbera. This is the second in the series about the Scott brothers. There are five brothers who were brought up in Marietta, Montana. One of the brothers is a photographer who travels all over the world. Three of the brothers are now at home on the ranch. Hudson Scott has been thinking about going home. Hudson Scott works in Nashville and has taken a job as a bodyguard for Alan Jennings, a country singer. The retirement tour of Alan Jennings will end up in Marietta, Montana where Hudson intends to stay. That is, if he and his Father can make up their quarrel. Alan Jennings is retiring from touring and he wants his granddaughter, Emma Jean on the tour with him. He knows that the only way he will get her to sing with him is by retiring, so that is his plan. Emma Jean had songs written about her from her birth by her Father and Mother. She had gone on stage with her grandfather when she was four. However, after the deaths of her parents, she didn’t want to sing on stage. She never faced why she didn’t want to sing; but she didn’t want to and settled down in Georgia teaching school. However, when her grandfather told her it was his retirement tour, she gave in as she had promised years earlier. Now she had to face her fears. Other fears arise when she is faced with Hudson Scott. She knows she wants him but should she? How can she fit into his world or he into hers?
