Una gran brutta idea

Rate this book

When I was little, my mom was part of the Double Day book club. She had piles and piles of books lying around the house; most of them with Fabio-esque men and a scantily clad woman set in a different century. I made up stories in my head just from looking at the covers.

When I as 9, I wrote stories using my best friend as a muse. They were romances...but for the 9-year-old. She was the only one who read them.

When I was 14, another friend gave me a Marian Keyes novel. I fell in-love with her wit, and humor with a dark side. This was my first experience with realistic fiction.

When I was 19, Nicholas Sparks forever changed my views on relationships. I learned what true love could be beautiful and difficult at the same time. I wanted it.

When I was 22, Jeannette Wells made me feel more emotion from an autobiographical novel than I thought possible. I wanted to be her.

When I was 30, Jamie McGuire and Colleen Hoover introduced me to the world of self-publishing. For the first time I thought: I could give this a try someday.

When I was 32, my someday came.

This book is the perfect friends to lovers romance! I stayed up until midnight finishing it, Meadow and Christian are just such compelling and addicting characters. Jeannine paints the perfect backdrop setting, centered around Manhattan and the wishing fountain in Central Park. The city is almost a character in itself, aiding these two to quit their foolish denial and fall in love already!

Humorous, romantic, enchanting and chock full of so much quality banter and dialogue, A Really Bad Idea left my heart swooning and my eyes shining with happy tears.

Jeannine Colette has always been one of my favorite romance authors because her books are loaded with genuine emotion, sexy characters, and heroines I can connect with. A Really Bad Idea is no exception. From the first page, I was hooked on the story because the main character just felt so real; she felt like a girl I would want as my best friend. All of Jeannine's references show that she is in-tune with the modern woman and can write stories that speak to us.

I also loved the friends to lovers story line. Sometimes, I think this romance trope can feel overdone or cliche, but Colette does an amazing job at rising above those issues. Her story feels fresh, exciting, and has just the right amount of tension.

I also loved Christian because he is a strong character without all of the annoying alpha habits I find in some romance novels. He is the perfect balance of smart, sexy, strong, and kind. He is a book boyfriend you'll find yourself rooting for.

This is a perfect novel for anyone who loves a sweet love story with a perfect amount of spice to make it exciting. I highly recommend all of Jeannine Colette's books, but especially this one. I will be sure to pick up whatever she writes next because I know all of her books are quality stories that will keep me turning the pages.

Can I give this more than five stars?? ❤️
I am so full of love and joy and utter happiness after reading this amazing story. Every once in awhile, a book comes along that knocks me off my feet and brings me an immense amount of happiness that I wasn’t aware I was missing.
This, my friends, was that book. Jeannine is a new to me author, who I actually found out about by meeting her at a local author signing event, and I’m SO glad that our paths crossed! Jeannine, you are one of my new favorite authors!

This book takes you on a journey with two best friends, Christian and Meadow. Christian is a doctor and Meadow is a nurse. They’re the kind of best friends where everyone knows they should be together, except them. They were blinded by friendship, until one day they decide to have a baby together. Sounds simple right? 😉

Christian has one rule, that he takes Meadow on three dates before they try to have a baby together, the old fashion way. Overtime, both realize how much they love the other, but neither one will say it.

One of the things I especially loved about this story was how supportive everyone was of both Christian and Meadow. They both have incredible support systems in their lives and I truly cried happy tears over it. I’m a sensitive soul, what can I say.

This is a book that I feel everyone needs to read. No matter what may be going on in your life, the story of Meadow and Christian will brighten up your life and make you feel so happy. I was crying just because of how happy and overjoyed it made me feel. This is exactly the kind of book I needed.

Thank you SO much for providing me with the chance to read an advanced copy of this book. It is now one of my top reads of 2019!

“I had a huge crush on him in grade school, and from what he’s saying, it sounds like he liked me in high school. Somewhere along the line, that attraction morphed into a friendship that triumphed over a relationship.”

i’m an absolute trash for friends to lovers / second chance romances and i expected this book to be at least a 4.5 stars read for me as this was unputdownable since the moment i picked it up and sadly my expectation went amiss.😪

This book had SO much potential, man. No like seriously.— I was obsessed at how relatable the characters were that it almost felt like i was reading my book *pfft*—except i don’t plan to retrieve my eggs and keep them in a hospital freezer
.....yeT

If i owned a physical copy of this book, you’d be able to see the crazy amount of highlighting done. gosh the tension and chemistry were just impeccable at the first half of the book! its level kept increasing every chapter but thENNN we reach to the part where they finally seal the deal......

*aye listen, i don’t usually let the low steam level affect my enjoyment of the book BUT IT DID HERE and it was inevitable😭 i swear i tried to let it slide but i just couldnt!!
i mean, how can you shove all that tension, longing and chemistry down my throat and then just give a couple of sorta-fade-to-black scenes?!
i-
nah, man the author did me D I R T Y.

“He picks up his rhythm.
I grip his chest.
He passionately kisses me.
I raise my hips.
His forehead falls to mine.
I look up into his eyes.
He calls out my name.
I fall apart.
We come undone.”

-end of chapter-

SERIOUSLY I’VE NEVER LAUGHED OUT OF DISAPPOINTMENT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE AND I CAN’T BELIEVE I SKIPPED MY UNIVERSITY LECTURES FOR THIS?!?

I was also pissed to see the chemistry between the H and h (yea idc to look up for their names) vanished in the 2nd half of the book. they started to feel almost like strangers again and everything went meh from there. It also had a lot of medical talks which i didn’t care to understand and a lot of pointless dialogues here and there.
it was just- *slumps and sighs heavily*

whatever the ending was cute though.
if i had to rate the first half only, it’d be 4.5 stars.

This is a typical case of "it's not you, it's me".

I can't tell you many bad things about this book cause it's actually not bad. The only negative thing I can say is that I didn't like Meadow's brother Brian and her ex husband Brook. The rest of the characters, especially Christian and Meadow are pretty likable.
BUT here is my big but..childhood best friends turned lovers is just one if not the most boring trope for me. They know each other for YEARS, date other people. Meadow was even married to someone else for 6 (SIX!!!!) YEARS. And suddenly they realized their soulmate was always right in front of them and they've been in love with each other forever but were too afraid to act on it. Sorry, but I'm not feeling it.

I can admit that Christian and Meadow are cute together, hence the 3 stars. But I need more tension and it's barely there in best friends to lovers books. Everything is so predictable, you're just waiting for the h and H to admit they in love. Like literally everyone around them knows expect them.

As I said, the book is not bad and if you like this kind of books, then you should go for it. The parents in this book are really cool! It's just wasn't for me.

By the end of the first chapter, I knew Ms. Colette had a winner on her hands. The heroine is strong yet vulnerable, and the hero—whose name (Dr. Christian Gallagher) is as delicious as his description—is swoony as hell. Colette’s Wild Abandon is one of my all-time favorites, and this one just might top it. It’s sweet, funny, sexy, friends-to-lovers perfection that delivers the feels (see what I did there? 😂)!

And yeah...*cough*...how hot is my Christian??

Childhood friends to lovers isn’t a trope I usually read because you tend to miss their development and I’m not a huge fan of the whole “I’m in love with you but sleep with other people,” that usually goes hand in hand with the trope. This book was pretty cute though. It was obvious from their first interaction how in love with each other they were. I loved their interactions with each other and the dinner scene of them sharing food was adorable. Even though we didn’t get to read much about how they fell for each other, you could still feel their strong connection. Overall, an enjoyable read!

I enjoyed and loved Christian and Meadow’s sweet tale. From the time you meet them, you know they love each other—but, of course, they are blindsided by their friendship and the consequences of giving in to their feelings. But when Meadow decided to have a baby, Christian realizes it's time to stop playing the friend card and be the man she needs, but that’s when things get a little bit messy.

All the funny bits I got watching them plan for a baby, plus all the sexy times, made of A Really Bad Idea an adorable, feel-good friends to lovers romance with so many scenes and characters that will make you smile, swoon, and fall in love.

Fans of swoony heroes, and cute but steamy friends to lovers romance, this one is for you! ♥

Romance perfection! From the time you meet Christian and Meadow, their love for each other bursts off of the page I loved every second of their journey to finally open their eyes and take what they've always wanted but didn't because of fear. I devoured this beautifully written book and am so sad it's over. It's one of the best friends to lovers stories you'll ever read.

Reading this book felt like reading part of another Grey’s Anatomy. I would have liked to give it 5 stars, but something was missing... I liked the main characters, but their relationship - the “more” - was build kind of wrong. I liked them as best friends, but after the part of the book with Gail’s surgery, something changed. I felt like the book wasn’t written by the same author anymore. Nonetheless, I liked Christian, so yeah: 4 stars.

I am a big fan of friends to lovers read and this would have to be one of the tops reads of this type of romance. I could feel the love and romance coming of the page with every page that i read of this story. The storyline had me absolutely enchanted throughout the story. I loved the combination of romance, laughter and hot swoony moments throughout the story.

I really loved Meadow and the strength that she had. I really felt for her with the way that she thought she would be married with kids by the time she turned thirty. But I really enjoy the way that she came up with another way to get what she wanted.

Christian is the hot doctor that was incredible sweet with Meadow and i completely fell for him straight away. The way he was with Meadow made me swoon so many times throughout the story and i honestly could not get enough of him.

This story complete blew my mind with how incredible this story was and how amazing of a storyline was written. The characters in the story i absolutely loved with the way that I laughed throughout the story while also smiled constantly. This is a definite must read.

“Doctor! Oh, doctor! I’m burning up. I think I’m coming down with something. Shall I take my pants off because I need a physical?”

Yes, yes, yes!! New #BookBoyfriendAlert!! Dr. Christian Gallagher, I’m having heart palpitations . . . hurry and rescue me!!

All joking aside, Jeannine Colette’s latest novel, A Really Bad Idea, was absolute perfection. Having just finished a few moments ago, my heart is full of love for her words and these characters.

Hands down one of the best friends-to-lovers romance books I’ve read in a long time.

Meadow + Christian have been best friends for a lifetime, and even though Meadow has harbored feelings for him, she’s always remained in the friend zone.

Christian is a heart surgeon with a big heart but is married to his career. Meadow is a dreamer and believer in happily ever afters.

“What did you wish for?” he asks.
“If I tell you, it won’t come true.”

With her birthday around the corner, Meadow knows her biological clock is ticking and wants so badly to have a baby. After a visit to a fertility doctor, she decides to take the bull by the horns and have a child on her own.

Welp . . . Christian comes to the rescue. He has an idea, a really bad idea . . . have a baby together he said. It’ll be perfect he said. We’ll go on three dates first he said. Sounds easy, right? Keeping her heart out of the equation is not as easy as Meadow thought it would be. Christian is impossible not to fall for.

“Don’t look down toward your fears or up into your own worst enemy . . . You get lost in your own thoughts. Stop listening to that little voice up there. All your answers, your dreams, your desires can be seen if you look straight.”

What follows is an emotional, heart-melting journey that had me on a reading binge. I was consumed with this story and characters who captured my heart and I felt as if they were part of my family.

Ms. Colette nailed this trope and I adored every moment with Christian + Meadow. With romance, heat, phenomenal chemistry, humor, and secondary characters I loved so much, A Really Bad Idea turned out to be the very best idea. Loved it!!

I love, love, love this book!

This book is well written and easy to get into. Much of it is about not seeing what is right in front of you. Meadow and Christian grew up together as friends. The timing was just not right when they each noticed their feelings were changing. I like that they were able to support each other when they went through bad times. They had to realize that they loved each other as more than friends.

I like Meadow's relationship with her Mom. They are able to talk about difficult subjects and be honest with each other.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Best Friends to Lovers done at it's best!!!

Christian and Meadow.....what a great friendship they have forged over many, many years. Christian becomes one of the best heart surgeons in the country, while Meadow is a nurse for him and his father in their practice. (Side note, I totally loved Christian's father Thomas!).

It was clear to me from the beginning that Christian's feelings for Meadow ran deeper than friendship. And he just made me swoon! He would be the perfect friend, lover, and/or husband anyone could ask for. He supported Meadow through a lot of drama in her life, previously being married to a famous hockey player who she caught cheating on her. And who was there to pick up the pieces when it all fell apart.....Christian!

I loved that they both had great relationships with their families and there was no horrible childhood, or traumatic event with parents. They were normal, hardworking people, who deserved some joy in both their lives.

I was a little nervous when I saw direction it was going with the "egg freezing", but it all made sense, and again who was there for Meadow......Christian!

Their three dates......sigh.....so awesome! I was flipping the pages because I needed things to work out with these two!

I always love Jeannine's writing style, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I highly recommend it, especially for those who love the friends to lovers trope.

P.S. Thank you Jeannine for the ARC and giving me the opportunity to delve in before the release date!! Best of luck to you always! Oh and I hope your Mom is doing well!!!!!

This is my first read by Jeannine Colette and won't be my last. This book was chosen for me by someone in a challenge and I am so happy she picked this one! It was a non stop read. I couldn't put it down!

Christian and Meadow were childhood best friends. They saw each other through it all. The good and the bad. Moves across the country, college, break ups and heartaches. They were there. They both kinda knew something was always missing though.

Christian... Oh my, that man was so swoony. Sigh.... Who wouldn't want a best friend like him. He is a 10⭐book boyfriend for sure!! He literally was amazing. I'm not sure if he even had any flaws lol.
Meadow was the perfect heroine. She was strong and resilient, but had a not so great track record in the man department. That's ok though. She needed all of that to open her eyes to see that the perfect man was always right there along every step in her journey.

I loved reading how their relationship evolved. This was a top notch childhood friends to lovers story.

Can't wait to read more by this author!

This was a cute and quick read. The friendship-to-lovers trope can be cute when done well. This one was a bit too unbelievable for me to love it. But I did like it!

As a nurse I enjoyed the medical aspects and thought the majority of it was done very well. I was surprised to read that the author wasn't a nurse herself.

Just a bit over the perfectly-good-looking friends getting together after their relationship with their perfectly-good-looking-exes.

But still a good waste of a few hours. Of course a happy ever after. Just what I was in the mood for.

All the rest can step aside...Dr. Christian Gallagher is officially my new book boyfriend. *sigh*

Oh yes, I definitely like Meadow too. She is a wonderful heroine that I instantly can relate to. She's been career driven and is hearing the very loud tick tock of her biological clock. One thing leads to another and her best friend, one very swoony Dr. Christian Gallagher offers to help her out with having a baby...the old-fashioned way. (Please someone pick me up off of the floor because I may have fallen out of my chair.) Seriously, holy hotness. In addition, he agrees to help raise the baby but they won't be married just co-parenting. At this point, I can almost hear my mental brakes screeching. What? Now, this has all kinds of trouble written on it. They are going to sleep together (probably multiple times because few people get pregnant off of one try), go through a pregnancy, raise the baby together (sort of), eventually marry other people (maybe) ...and maintain their friendship....are they both crazy?!

Not only are Meadow and Christian best friends, their parents are extremely close friends. Also, Meadow works for Christian's father as a nurse practitioner in his medical practice. Meadow's mother is a patient of both Christian and his father's. The connections are endless. Their lives are so intertwined with one another that this will either go really well or it will be disastrous.

Hands down this is one of my favorite reads this year. I absolutely loved everything about it! Also, I went back and forth between reading it and listening to the audiobook and both were fabulous.

I fell in love with Jeannine’s writing years ago and she never disappoints. Her books always leave me feeling gleeful and optimistic. A REALLY BAD IDEA has become one of my favorites. Christian was so swoon worthy the way he was always there for Meadow. He was more than a best friend in this friends to lovers romance, he stepped up as her man years ago and patiently waited for his turn. Gah, every girl should have a Christian in their life waiting to catch them if they fall. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful book that will leave you with the biggest smile on your face!!

If you had a choice to have a baby with your Best Friend, what would you do?
Meadow thought she had everything figured out in that department, but when her Best Friend is the son of her boss and The Hottest Heart Doctor in all of history of Romance books. ( Christian ❤️)
Well obviously she missed out on the importance of making wishes in fountains and that she wasn’t the only one with a wish.
This is another Fun story filled with wonderful characters and steamy scenes!
Never give up a chance to read anything from this talented Author!

In life there could only be one man or woman for you.

Aside from the fact that I love the friends to lovers plot. I so much swoon on this story because both characters knew since young that they already have that feels for each other but the timing has always been off. But no matter what destiny has a way of making them meet in the center. Spot on giddy and swoon worthy factor in Jeannine's style when their "romance" started. I always like that though the intimacy is made real the way it was written is not trashy, but rather decent and makes you somehow feel the intensity of their emotion as they have sex then progress to making love. So many nice lines about focus on whats here and the now, loving and supporting each other. If you want to fall in love..read this one. Good job to you, Jeanine Colette!

Christian & Meadow have been best friend since childhood and now they’re both in their early 30s, working together at a cardiology office—Christian as a cardio-surgeon & Meadow as a nurse practitioner. Christian has been there for Meadow through all the ups & downs of her life. Most recently, when she divorced her cheating, pro-hockey player husband.

Now that Meadow is getting older, she wants more than anything to be a mom. And with her own meddling mother who plants the seed in Meadow’s mind, she can’t get babies off the brain. The last thing Meadow expects is career-focused Christian offering to father her baby instead of her using a sperm donor.

This will most certainly complicate their 20-year long friendship. Meadow knows at the end of the day, this is a really bad idea. But she finds herself saying yes to Christian, no matter the consequences.

A Really Bad Idea by Jeannine Colette is such a good friends-to-lovers meets hospital romance. I loved this one! Christian & Meadow’s friendship was believable, which is key for me when it comes to friends to lovers romances. Both the hero & heroine’s families play a huge role in the story; that helped me feel extra connected to Meadow & Christian. Couldn’t say enough good things about this feel-good romance! 4.5/5 stars.

Best friend Christian isn’t having it!
A meddlesome mother, and hilarious sister in law make this novel such a fun read!
