I’ve been quiet long enough. I’m nothing like my brothers. I’ve devoted my life to my work, and I don’t care about God or family. I live alone, and I like it that way. Soon, I’ll have the job of my dreams far away from this place, and that’s all that matters. Everything is going perfectly. That is until Sadie Green walks into my class. She is brilliant and funny and infuriating, and she’s ruining everything I have planned for my life. When she gets the news that she’s pregnant, and the baby’s father isn't going to help her, I step in. She needs guidance, control, and discipline. Moving her into my house is a risk. If I’m caught living with my pregnant student, I will lose my job and everything I have planned. But the first time she asks me to punish her, I know it won’t be so easy to walk away—because I love it. Being with her would risk everything, but God help me, I can’t seem to stop. Before long, I don’t recognize the good teacher I used to be.
Sara Cate is a USA Today best-selling author of steamy romance and sexy book boyfriends. Although she writes a wide range of tropes, Sara is best known for her age gap and taboo romances. One thing you can expect from her entire collection is heaps of steam and plenty of angst.
Living in Arizona with her husband and kids, Sara spends most of her time reading, writing, or baking.
Lucas Goode. English professor. Devoted to his work. And certified heart-breaker. There is nothing more important to him than his work. There can't be. That is until Sadie Green trips into his classroom. This red-haired woman can drive a man insane. But Lucas can't let that happen. He has to keep his composure. But that might be easier said than done. Especially when he's talking about more than just her…
"You're a brat. You know that, don't you, Miss Green?"
I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review 💗
"How exactly would you like to be punished then, little devil?"
At this point I really say this with every Sara Cate book but I am %100 serious when I say I could not put this book down for the life of me!! You know when they say the doctor will see you now? They also mean English lit professors because of LUCAS MF GOODE!! I folded so fast it wasn't even funny. Like I'm not laughing you know why? Because I am mother forking folded!! And also girl crush alert on Sadie Green because this girl can banter like it's absolutely nobody's business - so to sum up - couple crush thank you very much!! Their banter, their spice, their chemistry!! I was eating it up and loving every second of it!! 💗 💗
"It'll be our little secret, Professor Goode. Please."
Honestly I was really excited for this book and it was so worth it!! First of all, I am not joking when I say that Lucas and Sadie have elite banter (and coming from me that is a huge compliment just saying). The storyline Lucas has with his family and the way he grew up and then having Sadie and her family. I think in the end this whole book is about healing and Sara Cate really said - you wanna feel? Because I'll give you the goddamn MF feels just you watch and also "add some spice" because we all know Sara Cate's spice is absolutely ELITE and I gobble it up every single time because it is just that damn good!! 💗💫
"The way Sadie argues with me sets my body on fire. Almost like she wants to be punished."
This playlist is hot and I am not going to apologize for it thank you very much 💗

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much, Sara Cate!
Before I begin, I'll warn you that this is going to be a long rant and might be a little all over the place.
The Heartbreaker is the third book in The Goode Brothers series. This can be read as a standalone, but I wouldn't recommend it because you miss a lot of the context, such as the entire development of the family conflict that has happened since The Anti-Hero.
My first question was: am I missing something? When did Sage and Adam What? It's unclear how long has it been since The Home Wrecker. [ETA: There's a bonus story called Good Faith that answers this question. It was originally featured in the One Wicked Night anthology and it takes place between The Home Wrecker and The Heartbreaker. I believe it's now available on Sara's website and I highly recommend you to read it]
I was so looking forward to this book because I love the professor/student trope. Adding the pregnancy trope, with Sadie being a brat, would be the cherry on top! I've loved every book I read by this author, but this one was not it. I had to power through because I wanted to DNF so bad. While this book touches on some heavy topics, it doesn’t explore them in a way that feels substantial or meaningful. The previous books left me with a sense of complexity and depth, but this one feels shallow in comparison, as if something essential is missing.
One chapter. One chapter and I was GONE for Lucas. I think I've never related to a MMC so much as I did Luke. Seriously, I would roll my eyes and then he would roll his; I'd ask myself something, and he would ask the same... multiple times. And just like I loved Lucas almost instantly, I disliked Sadie. She's giving naive vibes I wasn't expecting from her. However, I don't let that affect my experience, I'm always open (and eager!) to letting the character change my mind, and that's happened more times than I can count. However, my dislike for her only became more concrete as the story unfolded.
I expected from Sadie a witty and bratty character but I got instead the dumbest, most immature, and, honestly, selfish character ever. I get her wanting to be a priority, she is entitled to it, but she's never supported Luke's dreams, not really. She said they could make things work, but when I came down to it, she showed her true colors.
A true partner would celebrate each other's dreams, not make it about you or how you should come first. I myself had to live abroad for six months and my partner's support was unwavering, at no point was there any questioning of priorities, because it. Is. Not. About. That! Yes, I'm pissed.
Honestly, I feel bad for Luke. something he really wanted, his dream, for the sake of Sadie. To me, that's not proof of love. You shouldn't give up who you are, or your dreams, for someone else. You share your dreams, you cherish them with your partner. And when I found out that , it was the nail in the coffin of this book.
He could've had BOTH! He shouldn't have been put in a position to have to choose in the first place. I just keep thinking that if the roles were reversed, , people would be fuming.
The was so fucking stupid. . I re-read that scene several times because I was sure I had missed something. After all, there was no way she could have reacted like that – Yep, she could, and she did.
Hear me out, she throws a fucking fit because AAAAAAA and she has the audacity to ask if she ruined his dreams. I call that manipulation. I'm a Cancer – I know manipulation when I see it.
As for their relationship, things happened really fast between them, didn't they? Even though they had known each other before, it wasn't like they were friends. Not only that, but they went from nothing to an almost total power exchange dynamic – as if they had any idea of what they were getting themselves into, and Lucas had never really acted as Dom (we'll come back to this later)!
I couldn't keep up with the romantic development between them. All of sudden, they seemed to be completely infatuated with each other, but I didn't see that reflected on the pages. It's as if I missed some crucial information along the way. And even the 'kink' part was lost halfway through the book. By the way, if you're reading the book for the kink, reset your expectations, or else you'll be sorely disappointed. Seriously, I love the Brat/Dom trope, I was looking forward to it, but it was so badly executed! I can't believe it was the same person who wrote Salacious Players Club. Truly. I disliked most of the sex scenes, I even CRINGED! This has never happened when reading her books. I'm so disappointed.
I've been considering whether I should talk about this, but since this review has turned into a big rant, I might as well say it. In the prologue, we find out that . I found it interesting that this scene was used in the prologue because it explains his behavior as a 'brat tamer' (with lots of quotation marks here) later in the story. That’s where I start to feel uncomfortable when he punishes Sadie with spankings. Is he really doing this because he sees himself as a Dom, or is he just replicating his trauma? Again, he has no experience as a Dom – he doesn’t know anything about BDSM. I don't know, it's giving me Christian Grey beating the living shit out of brunettes because they resemble his mother.
But back to Sadie – I couldn’t, for the life of me, understand why she was so obsessed with Jax! It’s not like they had remarkable sex or anything. After that, he just ignored her. The way she acted about him made her very hard to like. I get her having a crush on him before they actually met, but after that fateful encounter? Tough.
Also, her double standards are ridiculous! According to Sadie, Luke should not only leave his entire life behind but also be ready to be a husband and father. Yet, she kept giving Jax endless chances. And I quote: “As for Jax, still nothing. I think he's scared. I don't blame him.” What the actual fuck?! So Luke, who wasn’t even the biological father, had to be ready, but not the man-child?! After putting up with Sadie pining over Jax for no reason, despite him being irresponsible and having no intention of being a father, ?! That’s a conversation I really wish I could have read firsthand.
And amid this clusterfuck, the pregnancy trope felt like nothing more than an afterthought. It's a trope I usually love and was really looking forward to (story of my life), but I couldn’t even enjoy it because I was too pissed off by everything else.
The silver lining –yes, there is one– in this book was Isaac. I enjoyed seeing more of him. He often served as the voice of reason and was the one who managed to get me teary. Now I’m excited (yet nervous) for his book, which I wasn’t before. MM isn’t usually my go-to dynamic, but I’m definitely willing to give Isaac’s story a try. After all, his story has been brewing since the first book in the series.
-- So are we getting Lucas and Sadie? I'd love nothing more than the teacher/student trope
Sadie (25) had a ONS and got accidentally pregnant. The OM was flaky and irresponsible AF and didn't want to do anything with the baby. Anyway, she felt lost and afraid without having any idea what to do with her baby. Then she wanted to keep it a secret at first from her family and to start doing something with her life. Therein enters Lucas/Luke (34/35), her English professor and her best friend's brother-in-law. He offered her his spare room until she figured out what she wanted to do with her life and baby.
Sadie needs guidance and order in her life. This girl's a chaotic mess on her own, and that's honestly an understatement. When she asked Lucas to be her guide, he thought about it but eventually agreed to it. He became sort of her ward while navigating this pregnancy journey and her new reality. Also, they both agreed to a DomxSub dynamic sans sex, where he tells her what to do and she follows his orders. If she decides to be a brat (which she is for the most part of the book), then a punishment will be dished out. 🤷♀️
Sadie was immature and bratty and seemed more like a teenager than a freaking adult in the first 60%-ish of the story. This girl's always defensive with everything, which made it so hard to root for her. Then we have Lucas, who's only focus in life is his work. He doesn't have time for anything because, as he said, he's married to his job.
But with them living together, they eventually discover things about themselves. And mutual attraction obviously played a huge role with the sudden change in their original agreed situationship.
Then the conflict happened, and Lucas lied about being in a sexual relationship with Sadie when they were called by the head of the dean in the university. And I don't understand why Sadie got mad at him for lying because she knows from the very beginning that their setup was purely transactional and he's going to England for a job that he's been dreaming of for years. So they got separated for a month, and this time Lucas realized that his priorities had shifted and his number one became Sadie and "their" baby. Yup, he claimed that kid as his. He no longer wanted that job overseas and would rather stay with Sadie and raise their baby.
If readers are expecting an elaborate grovel, then they're only going to get disappointed because there's none at all. His form of apology was going to the sex club she's managing and relinquishing control over her and for her to punish him or inflict an ounce of pain she's feeling after he lied and basically chose his dream job over her. You think they would have a decent conversation, but even the "apology" became sexual, and idk, it's not what I was expecting at all. Anyway, after this session, Sadie forgave him, and they got back together.
Overall, it wasn't bad, but I wasn't pulled by the story. It was okay, but there's little character development with the MCs, and I'm kind of disappointed about that. But I did love how Lucas accepted Sadie's baby as his own and how he worked out his issues. I lovee the epilogue too and still see them as a happy family. 🤭
Book info: - Forbidden romance - Professor x Student - Surprised pregnancy (not the MMC's) - Forced proximity (roommates) - SA (past) - Age gap (10) - Push and pull - No cheating??? (See notes) - OMD/OWD - Separation (1 month) - No V - HEA (8 yrs later, married with 3 sons)
Notes: - OMD. The FMC and the OM had an on page smex scene at chapter 1. The sperm donor appears on some occasions. Sadie has a crush on him and is still kind of hoping that they would have some sort of relationship. But the guy was a tool and treated her like a booty call. They went on dates and kissed even after she and Lucas had already slept together. - OWD. A colleague is interested in Lucas, and although he finds her beautiful, he's not interested in her. But Sadie kept pushing him to the OW, so he said yes to her invitation. - Double date. It's New Year's Eve, and Lucas finally agreed to go out with the OW after Sadie pushed him. They went to this resto that happens to be where Sadie and the OM agreed to meet up as well. They ended up on an awkward double date. And when the countdown ended, both MCs kissed their respective dates. 🤦♀️ Lucas refused to go with the OW but Sadie drove the OM because he's drunk. Mind you, atp, they already slept together but never kissed each other because, according to Lucas, that's way too personal and intimate. 😮💨 - If you consider the dates and kiss with OPD as cheating, then I guess they did. But, tbh, I didn't mind. And that's saying a lot coming from me. 🤣 - No V. Both are sexually experienced, but, of course, Lucas is waaaay more experienced. And tbf, there's barely any mention of his lifestyle. It's just Sadie who presumes that he's a playboy/manwhore because he's the love 'em, leave 'em type. He didn't deny it, and she doesn't have a problem with that. And if this wasn't mentioned, I wouldn't think he has that sort of reputation at all. I didn't give much meaning to the title, I guess. 😅 And again for some, reason, it didn't bother me. I think it's because the playing field was even for them. 🤷♀️
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This series continues to surprise me in the best way. The way things unfolded between Sadie and Luke was not how I thought it would go. I love that an author I've read so much from can still surprise me with each read yet still stay true to the characters they created.
Sadie's life is a little out of sync and now she's pregnant from a one night stand. With no idea what to do next and feeling a spiral on the horizon she finds herself moving in with Luke Goode. Her college professor. Of course, he is more than that but he's also still virtually a stranger. There's just something about him that helps settle her chaos.
Luke has kept himself distant from Austin for as long as he could. He's only here to punch a card and get his dream job, he's all about work. Or so he tells himself. I was shocked and pleased by just how much he really is involved with a certain family member of his. I may have squealed with joy when certain reveals happened.
But what he really isn't planning to do is get involved with his wayward student. Who frustrates and intrigues him in equal measure. That is a dangerous thing for him. Yet he still invites her to live with him and as he and Sadie embark on a unique Dom/sub dynamic (completely devoid of sex, of course!), he finds himself getting sucked in deeper and deeper, while learning more about himself than he ever imagined.
There's supposed to be a time limit on this whole scenario. He's leaving and she's cooking a bun in the oven. But when things become way too real for them and the attraction spills over, how can they ever continue on with how things were before? Not when they both now have something to really live for?
I loved this couple so much. I loved the different take on Dom/sub dynamics. Sadie's betting was just the right amount and watching the heat rise between them was delicious! All of this was elevated by the powerful narration performances of Jason Clarke & CJ Bloom. They were in duet style and it brought chills to me while I listened.
This book also has me almost at a fever pitch for the Prodigal Son. I cannot wait to see how Sara brings it all together.
5 stars 3.5 on the spice scale
CW: On page Child abuse, SA and rape (off page, past), homophobia, pregnancy at all stages, childbirth, BDSM while pregnant
I read this in 24 hours because sometimes you just need a book that leaves you breathless, and Dr. Goode did that for me 🥵. I don’t know if it was because I was dying to see where the taboo relationship would end up, but wow, I never knew a surprise pregnancy trope could still make a book this hot.
I felt like I was constantly looking over my shoulder, thinking, "OMG, they’re going to get caught," but nope! Every spicy scene was 🔥, and I devoured it. Plus, can we talk about how Sadie displays such empowerment? She shows how a woman should be confident enough to put herself first, especially if no one else will. SO RELATABLE ‼️
Anyway, this series is taboolicious (I know, I’m lame, but it had to be said). I definitely recommend it if any of this piques your interest!
Tropes: professor x student forced proximity (they are roommates) surprised pregnancy (he isn't the dad) grumpy sunshine funishment 👋

Oh man, I'm disappointed in this one. By around 50-60%, I was so done and couldn't wait for this to be over. I don't want (or have the energy) to type a whole review on what I didn't like, so I'll just do a bullet point list of my aggravations:
- Lucas, MMC: It's been a while since I've read a hero that was as boring as Lucas. There is literally nothing about him that was endearing or desirable. He was 100% the worst twin. Not even in the same hemisphere as Caleb. I liked him better as a 13 year old in the prologue flashback. At least he had a backbone then.
-Sadie, MFC: so immature it was annoying. This is coming from someone who prefers to read in the 16-24 FMC age range. She just didn't really have any redeemable qualities. She is a "pick me, choose me, love me" girl. She literally asks Lucas to CHOOSE her over his dream career and when he does... "why did you do that?!?!?!"... Uh, giiirrllll, you ASKED HIM TO *rolls eyes*
-Writing Style: This book felt like Sara pulled common tropes out of a hat and was forced to write what was written on them. Like "Oh! Pregnancy, Student/professor... I've read those before - guess I'll just crank this out as an amalgamation of what I've read before". It felt like an essay you were required to write in school. Very forced. It did not feel like any of Sara's previous books that I've loved.
-Plot: We have an accidental pregnancy by a porn star man child, forbidden relationship with professor, some religious trauma, a VERY MILD Dom/sub relationship, and some scenes to promote the next book. That's basically it. I can't get over how ridiculous the Dom/sub storyline was though. He is supposed to be this man who thrives on control but all he tells her to do is get to class on time and put her shoes away. And when she is a brat, her punishment is spankings. These spankings felt as juvenile as spanking children. They slowly ramped up in the attempt to show their relationship developing (I assume) but it was not sexy for me.
This series just isn't living up to what I was expecting overall. Book 1 was ok and about 3 stars for me. I did really enjoy book 2. The MMF storyline was delicious. And now this one at 2 stars. I actually have high hopes for book 4 as its heading in the mm direction which is a favorite of mine. I just can't believe the same author that wrote SPC is the author of this series.
I did receive an ARC and appreciate the generosity. Every book is not for every reader. Connecting with the characters is critical for me and it just didn't happen in this one.
This follows Lucas, and my new fave girl Sadie!! OMG love her, and yes a lot of what she felt was exactly what I went through when going through high school into college, that feeling of wanting to be loved and yes feeling it through every loser that just led to some very bad decisions. But love her spunk, love how she has that power struggle with Lucas. And Lucas at times loved and at times he was the absolute worst. But the effect of his pas with his father and future without him, really an amazing story. I cannot wait for the next!
this was everything to me thank you!!! one thing about me is i love a book where he takes care of her and the dynamic of their relationship is basically her saying “i’m kind of a hot mess” and him saying “ok i’ll help you fix it”
truly so good, so hot, so everything. it’s accidental pregnancy where he is not the father, he’s her professor. the way he was so invested immediately in her and her baby was so sweet and his character development from being so anti-family because he thought he was like his dad to being the #1 family man was the best.
The last person Lucas expects to enter his class as a student is Sadie. She makes an impression on him quickly, and he can’t help but gravitate towards her. Sadie finds herself in a difficult situation. She is close to graduating and showing her parents she is not a failure. Discovering that she is pregnant flips her world on its axis.
Despite the professional boundaries, Lucas and Sadie’s connection is undeniable. Lucas, a natural caretaker, is drawn to Sadie’s vulnerability. He sees an opportunity to be the support she needs. Their bond deepens over time, making it impossible for them to stay away from each other despite the risks.
This book was lovely. I was craving a good unexpected pregnancy book, and this story surpassed my expectations. When you pick up Lucas & Sadie’s story, you won’t be able to put it down.
4.25⭐️ I really enjoyed it. I loved Sadie’s character, she was confident, fierce, strong, funny, a personality that match perfectly Luke’s: he is a perfectionist, authoritative, he craves order and pretends that people follow his commands. Together they pushed each other and fought what the other said (in a positive way). Sadie needed Luke to help her gain control over her life, while Luke needed Sadie to understand his real priorities. I liked the pace of the relationship, even if there’s a breakup: they needed that time to deal with their past and insecurities on their own. What I appreciated the most was the end when the baby is born and we can see domestic scenes between the three of them, it was so cute. What I didn’t like is that Luke had to quit his job in order to show Sadie that he was putting her and the baby first, I think he could have shown it without losing an income lmao. Also except for the end, the pregnancy aspect was put in the background: the book covers all 9 months so the pace of time was really fast and I had the impression that the author didn’t focus on Sadie’s experience that much, so it felt superficial. These two things didn’t affected my reading experience so I had a great time anyway.
Can’t wait for Isaac’s book, he is so baby girl ()
4.5 stars! The Heartbreaker is a student professor, grumpy sunshine, roommates, surprise pregnancy (but it’s not his), romance. But the found family, healing from generational trauma, and the emotions of it all was really my favorite parts! My favorite in the series yet!
Sadie manages a sex club, she’s going to college as a business major to one day open her own club where women can feel safe and have fun. Her new English professor is Lucas Goode and they have a moment right from the start. They also kinda know one another already as the club she manages is owned by his brother’s girlfriend (the couple from The Anti Hero). She ends up calling Lucas out on his “dom behavior” and once she tells him how much of a mess her life currently is, he offers for her to move in with him and for him to get her life on the right track.
This story moves pretty quickly, but I liked where it went and how emotional it gets for both of them! She finds out she’s pregnant after a one-time hookup and Lucas is in a place in his life where he doesn’t know what to do with himself. So they kind of fit with one another and are there at the right time for one another. I just really enjoyed this story and this couple, like I said, it’s my favorite in the series so far!
I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.
CW (provided by author): on-the-page child abuse, homophobia, sexual assault and rape (off page).
This whole book was an emotional toll on my reader heart. Luke may have became my favorite Goode brother so far. The development of watching him grow through out the book had me rooting for him the whole time, even when he was being a stubborn ass.
His and Sadie’s story makes me smile. As someone whose partner took on helping me raise my daughter I know it’s not an easy task to just step in and become a parent. Throughout Sadie’s pregnancy Luke is a rock and I love it.
The spicy scenes, the build up, and all the little side pieces from characters we’ve met and grown to love from the previous books makes this a hit for me.
Luke, my baby 🥹 I love him (not biased because my finances name is Luke 😉) he was an amazing character from start to finish. This story hooked me and I couldn’t put it down. HOWEVER, I wasn’t happy with what we got from our fmc. I was excited for a bratty, sassy, feisty fmc and instead we got a spoiled, whiny, immature girl. She wanted Luke to compromise (and the sweet thing he is gave up everything for her), but she was never willing to give something up for him. I honestly loved this story so much, but couldn’t give it 5 stars in good faith because of my grievances with the fmc.
Sara Cate is one of my favorite authors, especially when it comes to forbidden, so obviously I ate this up in no time. I liked Sadie and Luke's dynamic together, and even their relationship outside of the bedroom was just as sweet.
pregnancy tropes can be iffy for me, but I thought this was done well for the most part! I especially liked that their story was primarily based around Sadie and Luke's story of falling in love with each other, and not focused 100% on the baby/parenting (that's where the PT normally makes me wanna scream lol).
while I did like Sadie and Luke together, there were a few other things I wasn't crazy about, but mainly two major misses for me: - I really didn't like that not wanting children was treated as basically a childhood trauma obstacle that Luke needed to overcome. as someone who is personally childfree by choice, that character arc felt extremely dismissive and like those who don't want children need to "fix" that about themselves in order to be loved/in a relationship - without going into spoilers, I hated the decisions that were made for the last 30-35% and I didn't understand their reasoning. while, yes, the groveling/reconciliation at the end was hot, the actions and character decisions were unrealistic, and tbh really kind of broke my heart for one of the characters
despite those two big issues for me, Luke was everythinggg and made up for the rest. and seeing his interactions with Isaac made me even more excited for his book next as it's been my most anticipated this whole time 😭
I LOVE FORBIDDEN ROMANCES SOOOO MUCH!!! Sara definitely put some good good into this one! It was soooooo much hotter than I was anticipating (idk why bc it’s Sara duh)..we are talking coochie throbbing HOT!! And boy oh boy the audiobook was something out of this world!! Jason clarke & CJ bloom were the perfectttttt Luke & Sadie!! I think this one may be my favorite in the series so far heh. But let me tell you something. I am DYINGGGG For Issacs story! LETS GOOOO NEXT BOOK!!!!
if you like it when two people who are complete opposite in every way are attracted to one another and can’t help themselves when they’re tempted…especially when they know it shouldn’t happen…then this is the one for you!!
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Book type: audio
tropes: student x professor surprise baby (not his) forbidden grumpy x sunshine Dom x brat Forced proximity Lowkey roommates to lovers
I love this book! We all need a Lucas Goode in our lives—Lucas and Sadie’s Book.
Lucas is an English professor, and Sadie is his student. Let me tell you, she gets under his skin. Now facing a difficult journey in her life, Sadie asks Lucas for help. Lucas invites Sadie to move in. They find different sides in themselves and each other; sometimes, it is a scorcher.
Lucas has a kind, giving heart for the people he loves—much more than he gives himself credit for. His character has past trauma from his childhood that affects him in the present. At the same time, Sadie's character growth is impressive. At first, I wasn't sure how much I would like her. I’m not a fan of brats, but if any book character could change my mind, it's Sadie.
This book is worth the wait and hype. It's captivating and takes you on a fantastic journey. I read most of the book in one sitting. There hasn't been a book by the author I haven't loved. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Oh man I really enjoyed everything about this. This was a student x professor romance but with a twist. Lucas Goode and Sadie Green are already acquainted with each other and from their first encounter in class, they don’t get along well. We can tell from the beginning that Lucas is someone who truly thrives off of teaching and taking care of someone else. Sadie is a busy college student and the manager of a successful sex club. When it’s revealed that she’s pregnant from a one night stand and she isn’t too sure what she will do, Lucas offers her a place to stay and offers to give her guidance through this new phase in her life. They soon find themselves falling into a dom x sub relationship.
Sara Cate is the queen of writing heartwarming books with a heavy dose of kink. I really enjoyed this book a lot and I’ve never read anything like it. I think Lucas and Sadie balanced each other out very well and they just fit perfectly together. The thing that kept me from rating this 5 stars was because I found it really difficult to love Sadie’s character. It really doesn’t feel like she’s 25, if anything it seems like she’s freshly 18 with her immaturity.
Tropes/Themes. -Professor x student -Dom x bratty sub -Roommates
PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU TO GET THIS IN AUDIO ASAP. YOUR EARS WILL THANK YOU!
Sara Cate can do anything wrong where I'm concerned because LORD she just keeps getting better and better AND BETTER!! How dare Sara make me crave things like intimacy, kids and a relationship!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU!
I am so in love with these two and their love and relationship. Seeing a stubborn man who refuses to be in love and let himself want someone else go from this hardcore cold person to this whimpering man whose only weakness is her was absolutely delicious! Their relationship evolved so nicely, there was such good character development and I love how each brother so far has worked out the trauma inflicted by their horrible father and done such good from it.
I can't wait to see where the series goes. Whatever you got, bring it on!!
Yall this book… this book!!!! Sara Cate is truly the queen of smut and I do not care what anyone else says. From the moment the Prologue started I was already hooked and feeling all the feelings. Once again Sara has managed to write an extremely sexy and fun story with complex and tortured characters with back stories that grip your heart, and the development of their individual stories along with their love story is just perfection!
I was lucky enough to listen to an early copy of the audiobook and I have to say it was so well done! Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom gave the characters the right voice to transport you right into the story.
I loved Salacious Players Club and I recommend it to anyone, but the Goode brothers are truly stealing my heart and Doctor Lucas Goode is no exception. Add to that the amazing plus size rep with Sadie and it leaves me with no notes!
My favorite Sara Cate book to date!! I can’t shut up about it on social media. I love Lucas and Sadie so much. So many people are going to relate to these characters. Their relationship journey, their traumas, the emotion and spiritual heaviness. Gah. I loved it so much. Was hooked in the prologue and couldn’t stop listening. CJ Bloom and Jason Clarke are truly phenomenal in this duet style performance. Get the audiobook!!!
Forbidden Professor/Student Past Trauma Dom/Brat Pregnancy (but it’s not his baby)
2.5 (changed it down the more I think about it) This is a forbidden romance with Professor x College student dynamic
I honestly can't say enough I didn't like the FMC, the character development for her was painfully nonexistent but the MC Had a whole butterfly transformation 😭 I liked him more than her. Wym you want this man to drop his dreams for you and you still obbessed with Jax he even offered but she didn't want to support him?!
Also when you keep asking for Jax 90% of the book especially after multiple chances of him showing he has no intention on being in that kids life and she could have signed over the rights in that damn hospital. The FMC was just always so confused girl it hurt my brain ain't no way she was a 25 yr old...girl where she was giving maturity of a teen at her big age I can't do a whiney FMC 😭
nonetheless I enjoyed the domme scenes the most those were nicely written I enjoyed the book. I DO live for the epilogues she really made the reader feel closure with multiple POVs and Epilogues it cleaned up all loose ends
Sara Cate has always been a consistent storyteller. I’m always flipping the pages desperate to know more.
The Heartbreaker is the 3rd book in the Goode brother series and follows Lucas and Sadie. Lucas is the brother of Adam and Caleb in the first two books, and Sadie works at the sex club owned by Adam’s girlfriend.
Sadie has a hot hookup with an influencer at the club and winds up getting pregnant. Lucas is an English Professor and is limbo with what to do with his life and career. Surprise…Sadie turns out to be one of his students. One thing about Sadie is that she’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind. Lucas ends up offering Sadie a place to stay when she needs one and the story takes off from there. They also enter into a dom/brat relationship.
While I loved the emotional aspects of this story, Lucas and Sadie really did bond over their uncertainties in life, pregnancy romances are just not my jam - in any way they are laid out. And I’m allllll for compromise and a supportive partnership, but Lucas basically traded in his dreams to make Sadie happy, while she also went back and forth with Jax (influencer she hooked up with). I’m not sure I understood that obsession.
I will always read Sara Cate’s books. She is a a beautiful writer, but this just didn’t hit for me 🤷🏻♀️
I am SO ready for Isaac’s book. His story has intrigued me since book 1 and I’m so stoked to get my eyeballs on it.
I always look forward to new Sara Cate books because she always brings the drama and the heat. This was absolutely no exception!
🍎 Professor x Student 🤰 Surprise Pregnancy (Not his baby) 🛋️ Roommates 🖤 Dom x Brat
This follows Lucas Goode, an absolute control freak, and Sadie Green, a walking disaster (I say that with love lol). When Saide ends up in Dr. Goode's English class, he quickly takes it upon himself to help clean up her life. Especially when he finds out that she is pregnant...with another man's baby 🫣. Although he definitely should not move her into his house, or punish her when she does something bad... he can't help himself around her. And well Sadie certainly doesn't mind 🤭
The forbidden tension between these two, and watching them sneak around was nerve wracking, but probably my favorite part, (sue me I like the drama 😅). I did like when we got some more emotional moments, and would have liked more moments between the two of them just to make me connect more with them.
One of the biggest things that frustrated me was how neither one of these characters could figure out and decide what they wanted out of life or each other and it just made for terrible miscommunication. I also didn't like how much Saide expected Luke to give up everything for her, but then when he offered she was like "oh don't do that!” Like girl, make up your mind! And her constant need to put her baby daddy on this pedestal in comparison to Luke who had been supporting her through basically the entire pregnancy was really irritating too. But that's just me being nitpicky probably 🤷🏼♀️
Overall, this book sits right in the middle for me in terms of the series. I LOVED The Home Wrecker with all my heart, and it's still one of my favorites of the year. It's very hard to compete with that book in my mind. While on the other hand I still liked this a lot more than The Anti-Hero, which I really did not like at all.
This third book, The Heartbreaker, is just meh. I didn't hate Sadie and Luke, but they didn't give me much to work with. This felt a bit like a filler book in anticipation for Isaac's book (honestly the 3 stars was all for him and he was in this maybe 5% 🤭).
And speaking of Issac… I am SO READY for his book next!! He is the most illusive and exciting character in the series. He was probably in this for less than 5% of the book, but those were my favorite parts 😍. The small teaser we got as his love interest has my interest at an all time high! I cannot wait to dive into his book sometime next year.
Thank you to the Author Agency, and Sara Cate for an ARC of this in exchange for my honest review.
Let me start this by saying the I love the Goode brothers, and I actually loved Luke! Sara's books have always been some of my favorite, but this one just did not feel like she wrote it. I contemplated DNFing this book twice while reading it, only to pick it back up because I want the crumbs of Isaac. Isaac's background is the only reason I finished this book. And I will absolutely be reading his book when the time comes. With that said..
I've never met an FMC I disliked more than Sadie. She was so hypocritical, and I hoped for some character growth, but there wasn't any. Her relationship and dynamic with Luke felt forced and cringe. I typically love a Dom/Brat dynamic, I love a good pregnancy trope.. but this book just felt like these tropes were fighting for their life.
Please read this book if you love Sara's other books, and read it if you love the Goode brothers. However, don't read it just because the tropes sound good.
I didn’t know what to expect for this story but I should’ve known Sara Cate wouldn’t let me down and I really enjoyed this one! Lucas and Sadie are such opposites and this forbidden romance was delicious!
- professor/student - surprise pregnancy (not his baby) - grumpy (him)/sunshine (her) - Dom/brat - roommates to lovers
I’m a huge pregnancy trope lover and this was definitely a lesser done type (with the baby not being his) but I really enjoyed the dynamic. Lucas and Sadie had the perfect push and pull and I enjoyed reading how their chemistry played out. And in true Sara Cate fashion, the spice was top tier!
So so good. This is my favorite of this series. It’s professor and student. Age gap. Forbidden romance with accidentally pregnancy perfection. And oh so spicy. I loved how Luke learned to love and be loved throughout the book.
I want to start this off saying thank you for the arc, and that I really enjoy a lot of Sara’s other books. That being said, this one was really not for me
Let’s start with what i liked: -the family dynamics and Isaac. I’m excited for the next book -the soft moments of Luke and Sadie, moments where they opened up to each other
Annnd my long list of dislikes: -the brat/domsub trope, in my opinion was not done well. I felt like laughing half the time the spankings happened in the first 50% cause it came out of no where, there wasn’t really a build up. And in this same aspect, I felt like they lacked chemistry -nothing, plot wise, really made sense to me. It’s as if I could feel everything happening just to push the plot along. Sadie moves in with Luke, so he can teach her discipline?? Huh??? They barely knew each other at this point and had NO Dom/sub relationship. Everything felt forced. -Sadie was so childish and naive, from how she acted about Jax, to her relationship with Luke and everything in between -the third act is what sealed this books fate with me. I love compromise and communication and this book did not have that at all. Sadie basically demands that Luke’s gives up his dream job and he just does???? He talked the WHOLE BOOK about how much he wanted it. Surely there could’ve been another solution. Not a fan
It’s not my favorite book by Sara but I’ve enjoyed SPC series and the anti hero so I’m hoping this was just a one off and Isaac’s book I’ll love!!
