Markela aka Bossi is in a league of her own. She has written off love based off of her past and what was displayed to her as a child. She is a beautiful full-figured woman thriving and maintaining her rehab clinics that were passed down to her from her mother. Trauma keeps her locked into a world of her own until the universe speaks and sends her him…
He never thought he would change up the way he operated as an Alpha male….
Symere aka Dinero has a million ways to give a woman what she needs sexually. Romantic intimacy is the one thing that he is void of. During the day he is a Financial Advisor and the CEO of Fugotti Enterprise. At night, he collects bloody debts on behalf of his uncle Timothy Fugotti Sr. Symere never thought that a woman could have him so smitten. Markela literally came crashing into him, making him question his way of doing things.
This book will warm you up like a warm summer day. It will drive you fast around a cliff, and just when you thought you would fall off from all of its twist and turns. It brings you back to a world full of comfort while making intrusive thoughts pop into your head guiding you right back to a world with no boundaries. Symere will have you questioning all of your darkest desires when it comes to a man making a woman bow down and surrender to his dominant nature.
The authentic and unexpected love between Symere and Markela builds throughout this book. Is the kind of love we look for in real life but only seem to find within the pages of a book.
Bow Down was a sexy, thigh clenching, emotionally driven, good read for me. Dinero was a financial advisor by day and debt collector by night for the Fugotti Family. Markela owned several substance abuse rehab facilities and epitomized "independent woman." Both were not looking to settle down and in fact had a rough first encounter when Markela accidentally crashed into Dinero's car. From the first meeting until the end, there was never a dull moment with these two. The story captured my attention and I enjoyed getting lost in their whirlwind of love. The chemistry, physically, emotionally, and mentally oozed from the pages. It also didn't hurt that both were submerged in the world of BDSM.
What I loved the most about this book was the complexity of the characters and getting to experience their journey of facing their past traumas. The storyline was multifaceted, and the plot twists were unexpected. The title and cover alluded to this being an erotic tale, and while there are elements of that, it was not the whole story. The book had a strong plot that was not overshadowed by the spice. Masterpiece provided awareness and education in the mental health and medical realm. She demonstrated how the characters were impacted by those things and the steps they took to better themselves. The prologue was intense, but played a major role in the future of both characters. And just when I thought I had everything figured out, the plot started twisting and I appreciated the change in pace. There's a balance of grown and sexy, vulnerability, empowerment, safety and trust displayed throughout the book that did it for me. I also appreciated the relationship the characters had with their family members and their honest dialogue. I am looking forward to more and any potential spin-offs because the characters hold a special place in my heart. Amazing job on this one!
For most of the initial smex encounters this was a spicy read. Towards the end it just felt redundant. Overall while it liked the concept enough to push through, I didn’t enjoy the writing style. A lot of the emotional/romantic confessions/conversations read more like things you would expect to be more of an internal monologue. The story overall was ok I just couldn’t fully stay into the story because of the way things were written.
This book was good from the beginning to the plot twist at the end! My emotions were all tangled up. I love this book so much! I love the complexity of each character and how it was all connected. I enjoyed that this book wasn’t just about erotic moments, it was about showcasing mental health and the awareness around trauma.
The book could be tense in the beginning.
Overall this book was the definition of grown and sexy, it showed vulnerability and strength. The honesty between these two characters was so beautiful.
Masterpiece has a new fan, first book of hers and won’t be the last. I can’t wait for the novella to come soon!
This one started really slow for me and also dragged a bit. I strongly considered putting it down bc the MMC was a bit too aggressive for me in the beginning.
Kela & Symere were the walking definition of hurt people hurt people, but they found solace in each other, brought together to heal on another.
The background stories of were a bit hard to get around for me as they were really long, but added needed value to the story. It touched heavy on mental health illness which can be a lot to digest, but the TW was there from the beginning.
I read the kindle version of this in January and loved Bow Down so much. I absolutely ate it up. Dinero and Kela were *everything*.
With the audiobook recently releasing I HAD to check it out and wow wow wow. So glad that I did! I didn’t believe the story could get any better but the narrators brought the pages to life. Everyone had a distinct voice, even the dog sitter, and TIP (Dineros cousin) had me in stitches from laughing. I’m sure I will give this another listen in the future.
This book grabbed my attention right from the start, around 4% in, and took me on a rollercoaster of feelings. I found myself shocked, sad, angry, and then flipping to happy, pumped, overjoyed, and even left me going "wtf" at times. Then, it wrapped up with a happily ever after. The plot twist was totally unexpected and had me hooked. I was thrilled to see everything come together in the end. The dynamic between Boss and Bossi was something else—his ability to handle and tame Bossi's stubborn and strong-willed nature was unmatched. He was the epitome of masculinity, offering Bossi the protection and safety she desperately needed after everything she'd been through. It was clear they were meant for each other, providing the peace and balance the other needed.
This grew on me! It started off with a shock then I said a gangsta who is into BDSM? And then the horrible tragedy that connects him to his sub?! Wheew. Then it just kept getting good. Spice level was definitely 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️So if you looking for some heat Masterpiece got you covered with this one. I had to pause a couple times.🥵Sheesh lol. Enjoy!
This is my first book by this author and I can't wait to read more of their other books! I enjoyed the different plot twists, the bdsm scenes and the spicy scenes were definitely SPICY! It was fast paced and entertaining.
Markela is trying to thrive after a tragic childhood and isn't looking for a relationship at all, or to submit to a man in any way. She runs into Symere aka Dinero, literally, and he's a Dom who wants her to bow down and open herself to being at his mercy, first with her body, then with her heart.
Okay, so let's start with what I liked about this book. I loved Ruby. I loved that Symere had an emotional support animal and he doted on his dog. I loved his and Markela's passion. The scenes with them connecting physically were written very well, in terms of details and feeling. I loved that they connected with each other outside of scenes and built a bond where they surrendered their hearts and exposed the darkness they dealt with. I loved the honesty between them.
Given all of that, I am disappointed in the way the story arc developed. First, this book had the barest of content warnings and I think they should have been specific. The beginning pages simply said there was explicit content and to watch your triggers, but I feel like the possible triggers should have been named--there was a lot of trauma of varying degrees in this story, and I think it should have been spelled out.
Second, the book touched on so many tough topics, and this hit me in a couple of different ways: first, it was hard sometimes to see the romance, or even feel the passion in the erotic scenes because of what it was surrounded with, and second: I don't know if I feel like some of the topics were treated as delicately as I wanted them to be. As an example, the author used the word "crazy" all throughout the book to describe people who had diagnosed mental illnesses, which isn't the best word choice anymore. And in terms of the bdsm, the couple had a dominant/submissive relationship, but we never see them talk about their needs, terms, hard and soft limits. She never even picks a safe word. They just start having sex and doing scenes. So things like that took me out of the story when I was trying hard to immerse myself.
Overall, the premise was good, but for me it mis stepped a lot in terms of content and the way it was handled.
Trigger warnings: violent death of a parent, discussions of mental illness, drug addiction, psychosis, grief, abandonment, and chronic illness with blackout episodes
*Bow Down: When A BBW Submits* by Jenine Corneal presents an intriguing dynamic between its characters. Markela, a successful and self-assured woman managing her family’s rehab clinics, has shut herself off from love due to past trauma. Her life changes dramatically when she encounters Symere, a complex Alpha male who leads a double life as a financial advisor and debt collector.
Symere’s character is compelling. He balances his dominant persona with a hidden vulnerability that emerges through his interactions with Markela. Their relationship develops in unexpected ways, challenging their views on intimacy and control. Markela’s initial resistance gives way to a fascinating exploration of power dynamics and emotional growth.
The story is filled with dramatic twists that keep the reader engaged, though some might find the transitions between high tension and comfort jarring. The romance between Markela and Symere is portrayed with genuine emotion, making it a captivating read for those interested in stories of transformation and complex relationships.
"Bow Down" by Masterpiece is a captivating and steamy romance novel that takes readers on a thrilling journey of passion, self-discovery, and unexpected love.
Markela, also known as Bossi, is a strong and independent woman who has built her life around her successful rehab clinics. Scarred by past experiences, she never imagined herself surrendering to anyone, let alone begging or bowing. However, when fate brings Symere, aka Dinero, into her life, everything changes.
Symere, a confident and dominant alpha male, is used to getting what he wants, especially when it comes to women. But meeting Markela challenges his perceptions and forces him to confront his own desires for romantic intimacy. Their explosive chemistry ignites a passionate relationship filled with twists and turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats.
Masterpiece's writing is as electrifying as the romance between Symere and Markela. The narrative drives forward with intensity, drawing readers into a world where boundaries blur and desires run wild. As the story unfolds, the authentic and unexpected love between the protagonists shines through, offering a glimpse of the kind of love we all yearn for in real life.
"Bow Down" is not just a romance novel; it's a rollercoaster ride of emotions that will leave readers breathless and craving for more. Masterpiece has truly crafted a masterpiece that will linger in the hearts of readers long after the final page is turned.
From the title you know the book is super spicy. They did not hold any thing back or leave anything to the imagination. If you think that it's sexy it's in this book. Sometimes books like that, although I'm a fan, leave a flat or storyline. But the storyline was really really good and the characters were well developed. I was kind of sad when it was over because I wanted to know more about the two characters. The sex was a given and it did not disappoint If you are not someone up for something steamy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and adventurous then it is not a book for you. I believe this was the author's first independently published book which is phenomenal I didn't notice a few typos and some other small errors that were slightly distracting but that's kind of my own issue ,but reader beware. I don't expect everything written to be perfect because I am not perfect (there are probably errors in this post) but I do think there should be certain levels and expectations when it comes to published writing. Overall the story was really really good and definitely did not leave anything to the imagination!!! 😳🤣
I enjoyed this story and I loved Dinero and Markela down! Trauma and heartbreak knows Markela well. As an adult, Markela is still suffering from the grief and trauma from her childhood and the death of her mother. While spiraling, she ends up in a car accident and meets Symere aka Dinero. After some choice words, her attraction to the stranger cannot be denied. Markela owns and runs her mother's rehab clinics that were left to her after he mother died. However, she also works part-time at a BDSM club as a referee. As fate would have it, she and Dinero meet again and they make FIRE!
This story was such a magnificent story of healing and a great reminder that everyone's grief presents differently. Markela and Symere both found healing in each other and I love that it was displayed in subtle way throughout the book. Symere was oozing BDE!! This story left me with all the feels. The way they loved on each other was everything. THAT PLOT TWIST THOUGH (IYKYK)!! It had me screaming and crying and holding my breath at the same damn time. This was my first read from this author and I doubt it will be the last!
Alright, so if you can dodge the spelling and grammar mishaps in "Bow Down" by Masterpiece, you're in for a legit treat. This book? It’s like you’re eavesdropping on some real juicy convo—feels like you’re right there, a fly on the wall, soaking in every word.
The dialogues in this book are just straight fire. They pull you in so deep that it’s like you’re part of the squad, hearing all the secrets and drama firsthand. Masterpiece has a knack for making characters talk in a way that’s super engaging and raw.
And let’s talk about the spice level—it’s through the roof! The romance scenes? Chef’s kiss, for real. They're written so well, they practically sizzle off the page. Got me like, "Okay, I see you!"
So yeah, if you're cool with brushing off a few grammar slips, "Bow Down" delivers big time with authenticity and heat. It's one of those reads that’s messy, bold, and totally engrossing. Def worth a read if you're looking for something that keeps it 100.
This was a decent read that did move my emotions. I don’t see what the point of Symere being an enforcer to his uncle’s loan sharking really even mattered to the story. Maybe it was just something to reinforce his being a hardass that just wasn’t needed because nothing was added. I’d give this story about 2.5 stars because when Markela left Symere towards the end after she found out a revelation that I saw coming after they told each other about their pasts I felt it really made no sense. I get that she was scarred from what happened at her mom’s wedding but her reaction and blame laying made no sense, then for her to say she never too off the chain he gave her because deep down she knew she wasn’t leaving him, but since people don’t make sense all the time I guess her contrarinesses can be expected.
I like that Symere was emotionally intelligent and didn’t mind shedding a tear or two for the woman he loves.
This book was recommended by a FB group I’m in. And let me say it did not disappoint! Thanks so much ladies! ✨🫶🏾
I love when I start reading a book… introducing characters, setting the scene and then things go left fast! That happened in this book and I loved it. It doesn’t give the reader a chance to get comfortable and low-key I felt like I was always waiting for something else crazy to happen… lol.
Kela and Dinero were well developed characters. It was easy to understand who they were and had the lifestyle/beliefs they did. We basically bond with them through their trauma and watch them go from enemies to dom && sub to lovers. 😳🫣
Not gonna lie I had an idea what the big reveal (the first part anyway) would be. But I still enjoyed the book. I don’t wanna say too much but… I really enjoyed this book. I literally laughed out loud a lot lol! This book was just as hilarious as it was spicy! I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Fate stepped in and healed these two broken hearts. Bossy and Boss met at a time when they both needed help and it was just what they didn't realize they wanted or needed. I understood that Boss uncle was trying to stay loyal to his brother because he felt guilty for the way he had to deal with his mental issues; but the thing that confused me was if Donavan was sterile who was Bossy mother pregnant from and if things would not have gone down the way they did I feel he would have hurt her mother once she told him she was pregnant and him knowing he couldn't have kids. Mental illness is something serious you have to pay attention and continue to try and seek help for that individual. I enjoyed the flow of this story and how he loved on a BBW, and how positive her self esteem was not allowing her size to make her feel less than.
Most definitely! With a good mix of sensitivity, intelligence, sensuality, and passion. The book was great with some caveats. There were some grammatical errors that needed correction. The twist at the end was not needed; just reveal that Donovan was mentally unstable with his brother being Symere’s dad as the truth from the start. The real surprise was finding that Donovan and Symere were related and that he didn’t know. Once it’s revealed that Ruby was once dating Donovan’s brother I already knew the secret. I realized he was Symere’s real dad. He kept the secret to be true to his brother but probably should have got him committed so he could have been helped with his severe mental health problems. Perhaps he would’ve have killed anyone. I loved the addition of the BDSM though. It added layers and depth to the characters personality.
Bow Down: When A BBW Submits by Authoress Masterpiece is my first read from the writer. The story is just...ok. I found that there was a loosely strewn together plot with a lot of sex scenes. Bow Down: When A BBW Submits delivers as an erotica but the stereotypical characters and chaotic story leave much to be desired. As far as erotica novels go, this is one of my least favorites...but if you're a fan of the urban fiction and erotica genres then you will probably like it.
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Content Warnings: Graphic: Cursing, Grief, Sexual content, and Toxic relationship Moderate: Death of parent, Grief, Injury/Injury detail, Murder, and Abandonment Minor: Addiction, Alcohol, Abortion, Domestic abuse, Infertility, Infidelity, and Death
This was my first book I have read by Masterpiece and it will definitely not be my last.
I absolutely LOVED how the FMC was plus size and a real plus size blk women. At this point in my life I needed to read this to feel better about myself. I am having a rough time with my weight gain not feeling attractive and Markela made me feel like all of my stretch marks and extra fat on my belly and thick thighs was ok. She had a man that adored EVERY SINGLE part of her body! This book definitely gave me confidence and the SPICE LEVEL was top tier 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. The way Symere worshipped her body 😏 And the PLOT TWIST 😳 I could not put this book down but when I had to I was still thinking about the book!!
If you haven’t read this book! Then you need to stop what you’re doing and go read it right now! Because baby she doesn’t come to play around! I hate it because I feel a lot of people sleep on her and they are missing out! She wrote the hell out of this book do you hear me! This is the type of book you read with your significant other and act out scenes together! If you catch my drift! Just be careful and don’t come for me or say I didn’t warn you! Blunts and drinks will be needed after if you have the energy! And don’t get me started on the plot twists because I’m still trying to get myself right after them things! This book book was Phenomenal!
I feel like this is the story I didn't know I needed. Bossi was a boss since she was a child you can tell in the way she talked in her mom's wedding scene. It's so crazy how things came full circle with Symere. I loved her dad because it's like no matter what he was there for her. It's nice to read about Princess, I was rooting for her boss up. Now Symere just made things so much better. His demeanor and the way he handles himself just gets ne everytime. I loved that even with their past they wanted to give each other a fair chance. Mental health isn't no joke, people suffer in silence sometimes!!
