“I know I’m not the type of girl that you usually go out with. I’m not sexy, I’m not attractive and I’m no fun. I’m plain and boring with no charm at all. The only thing good about me is probably my brain, which everyone finds boring. But I must ask you this…Mr. Zachary Anderson, can I be your girlfriend?”
This is the story of a simple, rich and shy-type hotel heiress, Victoria Peige, trying to steal the heart of the hottest and most popular playboy in their school, Zachary Anderson, for the sake of her friend.
Can Miss Goody-Goody win the heart of the Ultimate Bad Boy despite the rivalry their parents have in the business world?
Will she be successful? It’s for you to figure out.
The fact that so many people enjoyed this book is beyond me. Now as I wait for the hate from all the wattpad fans of this book, let me say what was so wrong with it.
First of all, the plot was very cliche. The idea of dating the playboy has been used far too many times, and while you could maybe do a type of spin on it, that just didn't happen here.
Second, the characters. Oh dear, the characters. Zach was the typical, jerk off, player that had the looks and was oh so rich, and was obsessed with Victoria's best friend Chloe. Victoria herself is a rich girl, that's described as simple and innocent and plain, like every main girl in every story, while her best friend Chloe over there is oh so perfect. And let's not forget that her best friend also has a crush on her, but of course, she's sort of dating the jerk playboy. They were so flat, I was scared they'd end up slipping through a crack in the sidewalk.
Thirdly, the writing was just terrible. While I'm used to this on wattpad, the fact that this got published is simple horrifying. The writing is filled more with the word 'hot' than anything else, and the male's p.o.v sounded so off, the author should have just kept it to the girl's p.o.v, that would have at least improved it some. Not to mention if you want to write from multiple perspectives, then you should write it from third person instead of first. This way, you're not randomly switching point of views at random points in the story, and it helps it flow better.
Overall, this was an agonizing read, and I hope that the sequel to this doesn't get published with it.
It's the one word that could best define this book. Even when they had supposedly "secret plots" toward each other, it still ended up as flat. Nothing. The character build up was nothing surprising, the guy POV came off girly, and at some point it was downright confusing.
The editing of the published book was clearly rushed, as there were so many major errors. There was none of the usual minor typographicl errors. These were huge, repeated sentence/s. Some of the words/terms used were not appropriate, too.
I don't see why there is so much hype for this story.
OH MY GOD!!! Its like living in the scenes of gossip girl!!! Maybe better than gossip girl!!! I WAS A DIE HARD FAN OF THIS BOOK ON WATTPAD !!!! This book gave me a reasons to read it. The reasons are: 1. THE GIRL IS RICH!!! I was bored by the storylines of girl being poor and the playboy being all rich and handsome... 2. The girl is tough to crack!!! Everytime the guy tried to make her jealous, she wouldn't even see what he was doing!!!! LOVED THE SCENES!!! 3. Last but not the least....IT HAD THE MOST AH-MAZING CHARACTERS!!!! whether it is James....or Chloe...or Nathan... THSI BOOK IS A WHOLE PACKAGE OF FUN!!! Now I'm reading Must Hate The Playboy....PLEASE UPDATE THE CHAPTERS QUICKLY!!!! DESPERATE FAN IS STARVING FOR SOME ACTION!!!-
I would recommend this book to people who like or love ( either one) romance. It's like a scary roller coaster for a perfect relationship. I rate this book five stars because, it's the type of book that you would never want to put down unless you have to do something important.
I thought this book was amazing! I have to admit, it was cliche and the characters were extremely mainstream. It was like any other romance book, but it definitely delivered. When I was searching for a book, I was searching for a romantic, drama filled, teenage love story and that is exactly what I got. It may not have been the best book for every reader out there, but for what I like reading, it gave what it promised.
I know that people are saying that it was a total cliche, but it was a cliche done right. The characters were typical, however it had an interesting twist on them. Usually in this type of story, the sought after playboy doesn't feel any remorse when he is going after what he wants (which is the hot girl of the school), however this one did. He felt guilty after abandoning the best friend for the girl that he was going after. In books that I read, it is rare to find a character like this one.
A character that I especially grew fond of was the main character, Victoria Piege. Many of the main characters in books like this would do anything and everything to get the boy of their dreams, however, in this book she put her friendships before her own romantic needs. Although this was frustrating at certain points in the book and it wasn’t always the best choice for the book, I like how the character is constant. She isn’t switching her views because the plot advancement demands it. The author found ways to work around the viewpoints that she assigned the character. Also the viewpoint of the character is reasonable and respectable. In the story she isn’t making choices that wouldn’t make any sense to the reader, but instead she is making choices that make sense with her mindset.
In conclusion, although “Must Date the Playboy” isn’t the best book technically, it definitely delivers on what the genre promises while added small twists. Also the characters are very pleasing to the readers. They are extremely relatable (on the teenager level, not the being rich level) and they make sense. I would recommend this book to other young adult romantic readers.
One of the first books I read on Wattpad back in 2014😸 The reread was rough, grammar mistakes everywhere but I can’t regret anything! Especially not some badass lips😂
So I originally read this around 2014-2015, and I think I read most of the sequal. The thing is is that this series was in the process of being updated on Wattpad and sometimes, you can wait weeks, months, and even years for a chapter to be updated on Wattpad. So I decided to wait until the series was over to continue on and I decided to start from the beginning, so here we are!
I do have to say that the beginning was a little rough, and that was something I hadn't realized the first time around. There was some inner dialogue from the love interest, Zach, that I was cringing at at the beginning, but his chapters got a lot better as the story continued on. The grammar wasn't all that great at times, the author had the tendency to switch between past, present, and future tenses. And I do feel like Tori, the main character, was kind of a flat character.
I also do have to mention that this book was a little problematic, especially at the beginning. There was some slut-shaming, which I think was really common for Wattpad books written between 2012-2014. I was 15 when I first read this and it didn't bother me at the time, but it did make me feel a little uncomfortable now that I'm older. And there was also jokes about homosexuality. I think those were my biggest concerns for this book.
Overall, this book got really good at the end and I started to Fangirl as hard as I did when I was 15. So I look forward to *finally* finish this series.
Why I am still reading it is...because I'm curious. Even though the next book gives it away. Why it was turned into a movie? Because people love watching cliches come to life. Why was it published? My goodness, no idea. And to every other teenage girl, like me, read the book. Really read it. It always revolves around the rich and shows like Gossip Girl. The grammar and the tenses are so off! I don't like the style of the writing. Everyone's so suspicious around each other. In every chapter, there's always someone asking, "What's the plan?" or thinking, "I'm suspicious." The writer writes too much into what they're thinking you forget what the actually conversation is about. Tori and Zach's POV sound pretty much the same and it's like they don't really have their own personalities. The characters aren't very hard to figure out. First, you've got the playboy. Pretty boy, jerk-off who changes. Then his best friend. Similar in a way, but has ulterior motives. Then the main girl. Dorky, but tough (that's what makes her 'different') and smart (which apparently no one likes). Her best friends. Nathan, everyone loves him. Nice guy and handsome. Chloe, Miss Perfect. This book, though, has inspired me to read better books. That's why I'm giving it one star.
I can see that some people didn't like it and that they are saying what they think about the book but it does not mean you guys have to be very rude about it.
I in fact loved it. I loved it so much that it made me love reading so call cliché but I don't care what other people say.
The point is that Notjustarandomgirl took me on a roller coster. Like for real I laughed, cried, blushed, smiled, and yelled. I felt like I was there with the character or some times felt like I was the character.
If you haven't realized what I think will I think it was and will always be a wonderful story and that is why I give it a 5.(now if I could I would give it a 10)
So people that have nothing good to say don't say anything at all because I would love to see you write a story that can top this one.
It was all a little fast paced for me in the beginning. A lot of cliches. And I just din't like it that much from the start and up to the middle but... the ending was fantastic - and also the climax - the mid-part. The revelations, I could say, were the best part. How the characters each handled it and how things fell apart. But I couldn't be sadder with the ending. It made sense but the fact remains that it is just so heartbreaking.
This is one of the Pop Fiction Book that I really do love (next to 548, and TDG) . It is the story where I really do wish a happy ending, but somehow just like when I am craving for a tragic ending for a fairytale happy ending story, it ended up tragically but justifiable.
It had really make me cry because it's very painful but it's great and good.
The start was a little off... But it turned out great... I really think it didn't require a second book...
I particularly loved someone's comment somewhere at the end of the book.. And I quote " This.Book. The only character I like is Boris...Boris is the shit!" Made.me.lol.so.hard
This was a very good book, I loved the how the author ended this book. It literally made me cry at the end and I'm loving the sequel already (Must Hate the Playboy)!
SHORTTTTYYY ♥♥♥ A VERY TALENTED AND GIFTED AND BTW SOOOO SMART FLIPINO? OR HALF? I LOVE HER BOOKS ESPECIALLY THE Must Date the PLAYBOY ♥♥♥ I LOVE YOUUU FELLOWWWW COUNTRYMEN <3 STAY AWESOME ;)
The plot was actually kind of fun. Couldn't stand the writing though. So many grammar mistakes and poor characters and setting. The only good thing about the book was the dialogue.
Victoria Peige - a simple, rich, shy type hotel heiress tries to make the hottest and most popular playboy, in their school - Zachary Anderson fall for her, for the sake of her best friend. Yeah, she doesn't love nor like him in fact she literally hates him. Despite her hatred will she be able to make Zach fall head over heals in love with her, not to mention the rivalry between their parents in business.
This is the first book in the trilogy. I came across this one in Wattpad and got to know that it was got published into a book later. So if you guys use Wattpad do check out this story and it will never fail you to amaze you, I can guarantee that.
This book hooked me right from the first chapter and the writing, the words, oh my! It was simple, yet the way it was written...just wow! The story sounds usual but no its not the storyline gripped me throughout the book and I can't wait to read the next one.
And Zachary Anderson! Grab my heart and have it! Its yours!! Why can't you be real?! Why can't I be a fictional character in your world.... Life is so cruel! I don't think I will ever fall in love with any real people ever! Blame is on you!!
This book doesn't end with a happy note and I can't help myself to hope for the things to go well in the other two books. Just hoping that the author won't disappoint me by giving me sad ending. Speaking of other characters, Victoria....seriously girl?! What are you? Some self sacrificing saint?? But I do pity on her when she come across a situation to choose what she wants and what her best friend want. Oh! the best friend Chloe.... Please don't turn into a negative one.... I hope you are not. And James, he is quite mysterious to me in this book, I guess we get to know what he is upto in the coming parts.
Okay, enough of my rants. This book gave me all gossip girl vibes so if you wanna read a light read and a fan of gossip girl give it a try, its worth! (Not exactly the show, but all those rich highschool vibes)
Very frustrating book!!!!! Make up your mind, Tori!!! Don’t be a push over, Tori!!! What is wrong with you, Zack?!? Don’t be so egotistical, Zack!!!! Ugh!!!!!
I wanted to stipe reading this book sooo many times!!! It was too much drama!!!
Why am I feeling sad after reading this book it feels heavy inside :'( eventhough some chapters made me laugh, giggle, fall in love and cry. I wanna read the 2nd series of this :'(
"Love can make you do things you never thought was possible"
Don't remember the book cause I've read it years back, but I remember I absolutely hated it!! Wattpad is actually getting worse as the years are progressing, first by promoting such disgusting books and now with ads.
EL EM AY OH!! younger me was eating this series up! I miss the days when I could consume media without critical thinking😭 the fact that this got published is so crazy to me. might have to do another reread to see how I view it now that I’m older and hate half the tropes in it
