A hilarious and heartfelt rom-com about having it all, slowing down to see the big picture, and finding out that the person you least expect could be your perfect fit
Josephine Davis has spent her entire twenties building Revenant, a fashion brand headquartered in downtown Austin. When her biggest investor orders Josie to hire a consultant, the last person she expects to be working with is Will Grant – the twin brother of her ex best friend.
Sure, Will and Josie may have shared one mistake of a kiss during senior spring break nine years ago, but they’ve never been friends. She remembers him as moody; he always thought of her as shallow. Romance isn’t on the table for either of them until they blink, and realize there’s a reason they can’t stay away from each other.
But there’s Will’s sister to consider, whom Josie hasn’t spoken with since their falling out. Not to mention, Will and Josie live seventeen hundred miles apart. And it’s not like she has time for a boyfriend anyway when she’s an overworked CEO. As Josie’s burnout looms while she falls deeper and harder for Will, she contends with the fact that eventually, she’ll have to make a stay alone to be productive, or slow down to be in love.
I was going to mention in my second review how tightly I would hug this story (if it were possible), only to realise that I wrote the almost exact same words in my first review.
My love for this story, the characters and everything in between for ‘Perfect Fit’ is indescribably big! I cannot tell you guys how much I love, adore and relate to this book! 🥹 ———————— I just got approved for the audiobook!!!!
Guess who's going to read this wonderful book again for the second time, even though it hasn't even been two months since this book was read. ME! 🥹 While listening to the audiobook, naturally.

Infinity Stars!
Attention!!! Since this book isn't released yet, I want to mention that there may be a few spoilers in this review. So proceed at your own caution!
For the triers, for the tired ones, and for anyone who ever thought: If I don't have the right outfit I'm not going.
If I get told now what book would I choose to tightly hug and not easily let go of, it would be this book 'Perfect Fit'.
This book caught my attention ever since I saw the cover reveal and just then I decided to read the blurb as well and at that precise moment I knew I would fall deeply in love with this book. Turns out, I was right. From the first chapter I was a goner for 'Perfect Fit'.
I'd wanted to read this author's debut novel since it came out, but unfortunately never found the right time to do so. But, I was also very fortunate to receive an arc for this, because I was already too excited for this book and had no idea how I was going to wait a but longer till its release.
The quotes! *SIGHS DREAMILY* Too many quotes in this book that made my heart flutter. You know a book is GOOD when you find yourself highlighting many many lines in every few page.
''I know your fever's about to hit. I can wrap you up in my arms. Get under the covers with you. Keep you warm. Make you feel not alone. I can let your head rest against my chest and that way, you'll feel another person's heartbeat, in sync with yours. That's the kind of help I can be. Even though I can't take away your... physical pain, I can make you feel good in a different way.''
Will Grant, you have my heart, it is yours. It had been a hot second for me to find a (new) book boyfriend, but the way we got introduced to our main male character/love interest I knew he would find his place in my heart. Where the heck is my cheesiness and the hopeless romanticness coming from. *tsk*
''You should have me. You do have me. I think, from now on, forevermore, you will probably always have me.''
The friendships and the relationships in this book were everything I could ask for and more! Josie being an IT GIRL and a BOSS BITCH while being extremely kind, loving and down to earth, and of course, her wanting to make everyone in her surroundings happy and being emotional and vulnerable is something that spoke to me the most. I related to her character immensely.
''I want to be there while you test each one and pick your favorites. I want to carry you around in my arms and then put you down and let you stand on your own two feet while you build something out loud that used to live inside your head. I want to stand on the sidelines and clap for you and then take you somewhere private and (....) you. But mostly, Josie, I want to be a good person with you. Because you make me feel better about myself, just by being you.''
The female friendships and the friendships, in general. Josie's relationship with Camila, and how mature and communicative they were towards one another, all because of Josie's past friendship with her former best friend. Then, we have her ex bff Zoe (who happens to be her high-school bestfriend and also her her new consultant's twin sister), with whom she hasn't spoken a single word for almost a decade. Even her relationship with her now bff's fiancé was incredible adorable, though we haven't seen too much of it. But, still.
''I want to make you a deal.'' ''What deal?'' ''If you wake up one morning and decide you want to try out soft living. We do it together. Even if it's only for a little while. If you want to drop everything, then I will, too.''
"What if I was okay with being your collateral damage?" he whispers. My breath hitches. "What?" "What if you took from me what you wanted and left the rest? I can take it." His voice is deep in his throat, breath warm on my skin. "Use me. Please. It would be an honor. I can only exist for you in moments like this one. I can be scarce when you need me not to exist."
Overall, a fantastic book and hands down one of my FAVORITE books that I have read this year. I will think about this book for a while, I just know it.
''The point is, Will. If you don't think I'm a fraud, then maybe I'm not one. You were the first person to see every messy part of who I am and believe in me anyway.'' ''I want your messy parts.'' ''I want yours, too. I want your list of worst things and i want your biggest regrets. I want your bad days. You're not just a good person, you're a good-for-me person. And you make me feel like I'm worth something more valuable than my actual net worth.'' _______________________ I was looking forward to this book ever since it was announced, I’m beyond excited to read this one! 🥹
Happy Release Day to one of my favorite books of the year 🩷🩷
"I didn't think this would ever happen to me," I admit, the words tripping off my tongue. His lips graze mine, close but still resisting. "Being this much in love?" "Being at peace," I explain, repeating his same sentiment. "That's why I get to love you. You helped me find it."
I absolutely loved this book. This was the romance book I've been looking for when I've been disappointed by my previous reads, and I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this.
I really enjoyed the storyline and the setting; was giving The Intern vibes if anyone has seen that movie. Just really loved the feel of the atmosphere that was being described and the love and passion for the job that Josie was outputting. I really loved her character too. Such a humble female CEO character that was still working hard and finding her place the world but also dealing with stress and burnout, even when doing something you started out loving.
And Will. Good grief. This man was amazing in every single way. He was such a good man, had a great personality and sense of humor, and was amazing at his job. At one point, Josie remarks to herself that watching a man with such professional competency is a turn on, and I couldn't agree more.
And throughout all of this, they are communicating, being honest with each other about their feelings and why they may have reservations. But they were there for each other from the word go. Whether it was professionally, romantically, or even just as friends. This was really a beautiful relationship to read about and this is a top 2 or 3 book for me this year so far.
Couldn't recommend this was one more 🩷
Thank you NetGalley and St Martins Press for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Clare has crafted a perfect love story in PERFECT FIT. I loved these characters from page one and could not wait to see them come together. Perfect Fit is a perfect book.
A Perfect Gift by Clare Gilmore Contemporary romance. Enemies to friends to lovers, and second chance troupes. CEO Josephine Davis is busy building Revenant, a fashion brand in Austin, Texas. An investor is insisting on contracting with a business consultant. After an inconvenient biking accident between Josie and Will Grant, he takes on the job. Soon the two are traveling across the country and further to Europe and South America expending the business contracts. The more time Josie and Will spend together, the more their attraction and relationship grows. But Josie is busy handling multiple roles within the firm and there is a rumor her co-owner is leaving the firm. Josie’s not convinced she has time for a relationship.
This stated out really cute with banter and feelings of attraction even though they have history. I enjoyed the story but she held on to the “I don’t know” for way too long. A little too much angst about the friend. I did love the final chapter, resolution, and epilogue.
Happy slightly belated pub day to this masterpiece!!!!! Still one of my favorites!
This was actually the perfect romance for me, omg. Top 5 contemporary romance books of all time for me easily!!
First and foremost, if you love a more women's fiction leaning romance and to have hella emotional depth to your characters and the relationship in the romances you're reading, this is an absolute must read. I love a good rom-com, but my preferred types of rom-coms are the ones that are also going to make me sob and really connect to the characters' backstories, and this very much did that. Both of the main characters are absolutely flawed individuals, but they come together and make each other better just for being part of each others' lives, and that is the best sort of romance story in my personal opinion. There was so much character growth, both individually and with the relationships in this book whether they be romantic, platonic, or familial. I absolutely loved it.
Second, I so badly needed a strong (but not ice-queen) feminist icon of a main character, and Josie delivered that in spades. I mean come on; she's a literal CEO. A literal boss, yet is still so kind and helpful, and just trying to make a life for herself that makes a positive impact on the world. I absolutely love her.
And Will--omggg. The acts of service!!!!!!! And the way he is not intimidated by Josie being such a strong, independent woman, and supported her/did not dim her sparkle. We love to see it! Also watching him better himself both personally and in his career, for both himself and the people in his life, made his story so heartwarming.
The chemistry between them was palpable from page one. And THE BANTER. I absolutely ate it up. It felt so natural and realistic, while still being so funny and honest.
To the Emily Henry/Abby Jimenez/etc fans that like a little Elle Woods sparkle in their FMCs--You must read it!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
i like to begin my reviews with general thoughts. however, in this case, i’ll start with characters because i liked them much more than story/plot:
josie i really liked the main character, Josie. i connected to her in so many different ways; mostly to her habits and the way she thinks. she can’t see anything expect her work and even though i found her annoying i couldn’t deny similar characteristics.
will again, he was doing some crazy annoying stuff as an adult but his love toward josie covers everything he did. he is the most patient person i’ve read about lately. he was there every time she needed him; he made her feels safe and helped her overcome workaholism and challenges on her way. - they did wrong as teenagers, we won’t deny it. but zoe did wrong too. i really think is important to communicate! please!!! they just had to talk to figure everything out. - why 3 stars? too many scenes i skipped. i believe the book could be shorted and it would be more investing that way. but still would recommend for fast readers!🤍
anyway, work trip scenes…🤭
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press | St. Martin’s Griffin for approving my request
This was everything!!!! I had so much fun reading it. I gotta say that I liked this one even more that "love interest". This author has so much potential 👏🏻
I went into this one without knowing that it was a second chance romance and what a pleasant surprise it was 🤭 the yearning had me on my kness. I love when I found books with complex stories and characters, because it feels realistic and I can see myself relating with the plot / characters.
I did tear up a couple of times because Josie made me feel like looking at a mirror. On the other hand, Will was such a goner for her. My acts of service king!!! 😭 "what if I was okay with being your collateral damage?" PLEASE 😭😭😭😭 The chemistry and connection was instant since the beginning, making this the perfect romance to me honestly 💕
Aside from the romance, this touches other topics like working in the corporate world, the fear of not being enough, social expectations, friendships and so many more aspects that made this super interesting and fascinating!!
Going to be sick over how much I loved this book. Perfect Fit is a sort of second chance, “we have history” romance and I loved every bit. Josie & Will know each other from high school, have history, and run back into each other 10 years later. This story managed to stay lighthearted while also dealing with topics like burnout, worrying what people think about you, friendships, and never feeling good enough no matter what you do.
Josie never feels good enough and is scared to let someone in bc she feels like she always has to be on her A game at work. I loved how Will was there for her, doing everything he could (my acts of service king), while also still respecting Josie’s boundaries. Add him to my list of favorite mmcs bc this man was a man in LOVE willing to do whatever he could for Josie.
Josie cares too much about what others think about her and fears she will never be good enough for anyone (hello, it’s me). She was such a real, relatable character and her character growth was fantastic. I love how Josie & Will were friends to lovers with acknowledgment of their feelings bc their relationship progression felt more real to me.
I’m normally not a fan of romances in the workplace setting but I was very entertained by the story and felt like it just worked. I loved both of these characters, their friends, and their story so much. It was funny and cute while also being a story with depth. I loved it so much 💓
“But I was never meant to be your hero. I honestly think you were meant to be mine.”
“It's miraculous to be understood, and then to be wanted anyway.”
it truly felt like fate when the first ARC i was accepted for was a book by clare gilmore. i read her debut novel “love interest” last year and absolutely loved it. her sophomore novel is no different; it truly did not disappoint!
this might be one of the healthiest representations of a relationship i have read about in a very long time. this was a beautiful story, not just about love, but also about friendships, personal growth, and navigating life as a young woman. set in the heart of austin, texas, the story follows josie, a young CEO trying to juggle her clothing company, her best friend’s bachelorette party, and the launch of her first physical clothing store. oh, and she's also trying (and failing) not to fall for her ex-best friend's twin brother, will.
the characters were so lovable!! josie’s a total girl-boss, but she’s also dealing with burnout and putting way too much pressure on herself. and will? he’s just the sweetest, a guy who’s secure in himself and totally supportive of josie’s ambitions. together, they navigate their conflict with open communication, which is such a breath of fresh air—so thankful for the lack of dramatic third-act breakups lol!
“perfect fit” comes out in october, and i highly, highly recommend checking it out! a special thank you to netgalley and st. martin's press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love romance that’s full of friendship, depth, and humor, and Gilmore delivers all three. Not quite a second chance romance, but close enough, Josie’s and Will’s backstory created some history but allowed for present day matters to take center stage. I liked the independence and maturity both displayed especially in times of vulnerability. There was a realness to it all that was refreshing. Overall, a slow burn, endearing romance.
I received an advanced copy through Netgalley in return for an honest review.
Clare Gilmore absolutely slayed her sophomore release. Perfect Fit is like a love letter to millennial women addicted to the grind, whose sense of worth is directly tied to the work they do and the perception others have of them. (👋🏻 it’s me, hi!) Josie’s journey is a lot of our journey’s and I cried with pride in my heart when she finally had enough.
And my god, WILL GRANT. How do I even put this man into words? He is perfection. My physical copy is going to be a mess when this book releases, thanks to all of the swoon-worthy moments he provides. He loves Josie in exactly the way she needs him to - with care and intention and space. This man’s love language is DEFINITELTY acts of service - from loading uhauls to club reservations to caretaking to filling her fridge, Will shows Josie love in every moment.
I will definitely be reading my eARC over and over and over. So grateful to SMP for sending a copy my way.
Read if you like: 🦄 EX-best friends TWIN brother 🫢 🦄 second chance romance 🦄 meet cute (or not-so-cute in this one 🤪) 🦄 single POV 🦄 HEA 🦄 just a tiiiiiiny little bit of spice 🌶️
I have not read anything about this author before but I have heard nothing but good things, so I was very excited to start this first one 😊 I absolutely loved this author’s snarky and sarcastic narration style, and it made for a very enjoyable read. I was hooked right from the very first page! This book was super cute! I loved the second chance aspect… and I definitely loved the (ex)best friends brother 😍😍😍 I never really appreciated this trope until now but WOW I loved it ❤️ I am not a huge fan of spice so I appreciated that there was just a little bit in here. I really liked these characters, and I was so happy to see the friendship mend ❤️❤️ and ex-best friends TWIN brother?!?! Did we know they were twins in the beginning?? I can really see why Zoe was so upset with Josie all these years. I loved the ending where everything came together and was wrapped up 😁 I will definitely be reading more by this author in the future!
“You should have me. You do have me. I think, from now on, forevermore, you will probably always have me.”
This was so fun and cute! It’s a CEO(FMC) x Consultant (MMC) romance that was nicely done and the first book I’ve read from this author. Josephine has to work with Will, who is the twin brother of a best friend she fell out with. They share some history and the book has a second-chance aspect to it that I enjoyed. Josephine is such a realistic character and I adored her. She’s a hardworking businesswoman and I love how much she cares about her company, friends, and her family. We also see some of the struggles she faces as a female CEO in the corporate world, especially with burnout and managing a work life balance. I liked seeing her character develop as she realized that her worth shouldn’t be tied to only her accomplishments because she is so much more than that.
Will Grant was the ultimate book boyfriend❤️ I adored the way he did so much for Josephine, considering their history. He was so patient with her, understood her well, and always met her where she was. I loved their chemistry because the pacing of the slowburn was so satisfying. I also appreciated the lack of a third act breakup because the communication between them was done well.
This book could have been better with less pop culture references because it felt cringey whenever mentioned. I wanted a bit more from that ending and the plot. I felt that the reconciliation with Zoe should have happened earlier in the book for better pacing. A lot of it felt more like “telling” rather than “showing” since she mostly came up in conversations.
But overall, this was really enjoyable and I loved the characters and romance!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
" I’m pretty sure everything in my life—everything I’ve done, every choice I’ve made—has pointed me straight back to you. How I love you, why I love you, the way I love you. "
what a special book with amazing characters that will stay with me. this story is about accepting love and understanding that you are worthy no matter what stage of life you're in. josephine's journey with burnout and self worth made me feel so seen and I loved the journey she went on. will is an incredible mmc, the things he'd say to her would have me sobbing. i'm in love with their love. i also think this book had such special portrayal of friendship. camilla is the ultimate best friend. full of workplace drama, pining & longing, amazing friendships and emotional moments that definitely made me cry, it is definitely in my top books of the year & of all time. i'm SO looking forward to what claire puts out next!
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, St. Martin’s Griffin, NetGalley and the author for inviting me to read an eARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
In her sophomore novel, Gilmore explores the complexities of finding love while simultaneously finding yourself. As her protagonist battles the corporate grind and strives to discover who she is outside of what she does, she falls headfirst into an unexpected romance that’s supportive, sexy, and deeply authentic. Most importantly, she reminds us that true love means showing up for the people who matter.
This was my first book by Clare Gilmore and I enjoyed it. This has the feel of a classic Hallmark movie. Josie has a clothing business in Austin, and is told she needs to hire a consultant. This consultant ends up being her ex-friends twin brother, Will. She did share a kiss with him once but they never continued a relationship or anything. They don't have the fondest memory of each other. But once they are together, they start to realize they may have feelings towards one another. But she's so busy with work and they live so far away from each other, she knows something will have to give if she wants anything to go further with Will.
I really loved these characters and their story. There were plenty of funny moments and a little spice too. Just an overall cute read!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This is one of those soul touching level books for me. The way I related to the main character and the romantic relationship between Josie and Will are one of my favorite things I have ever read. I absolutely loved Clare's debut and have been incredibly excited about this one. It lived up to my expectations and then some.
Josie is the CEO of the fashion company she started in college. She's aiming to take the next step for her company by opening up a brick and mortor store and get verified as a B corp. In order to help achieve that she brings in a consultant who ends up being someone from her past. The brother to her high school ex best friend, Will. The same Will who she kissed back in high school and then resulted in the loss of her best friend. As they continue to spend time together it's obvious something is there between them, but there's other things they have to consider before diving into the romantic relationship such as Josie's commitment to her compnay and how Will's sister will react to them reconnecting.
It's told in Josie's POV only, and I think that was perfect. I love Will. I'd do anything for Will. But I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not getting his POV. Josie is the main character and the focus of this book with Will coming in to show her what she can have when it comes to a romantic relationship depsite her incredibly demanding work life. Josie's feelings towards her work, the way she worries about how she is perceived by others and tries to limit it to the best of her ability, and her hesitancy towards a romantic relationship due to it not feeling fair to give them such little of her time. It all hit VERY close for me, it was honestly a little bit scary. I can only wish I have the chance to experience the relationship Josie and Will did. The way that the two of them cared for each other, communicated with each other, and loved each other - truly a perfect fit.
If you take any book recommendations from me, please make it one of Clare's books!
💕 second chance, in a way 💻 workplace 🤒 caretaking ✈️ a little traveling 👏🏼 no third act breakup
I enjoyed the premise, the characters, the friendships, and the relationship between Will and Josie.
It was a very light read for me despite the many issues discussed throughout the book- mainly insecurities, self-doubt, anxiety, stress.
I appreciated the author's attempt to make Josie more relatable through her history and personal struggles: however, I just couldn't connect with Josie. It might have been easier had she not be from a rich family and made it plain that her family money helped support her career. Her life and her very privileged lifestyle made her harder for me to connect with.
However, I did find Josie's struggle with social media very relatable. For some people, myself included, social media is more toxic than enjoyable. For Josie, it was a huge trigger. I respect that and her boundaries with the medium.
Overall, the storyline was well executed, the characters, especially the supporting characters, were very likeable. Overall, a fun, light read!
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for sharing this digital ARC with me in exchange for my honest review.
4.5 stars Josie is a total girl boss and the focus on her career shines brightly. Taking her business up to the next level requires a consultant and running (literally) into Will is the perfect fit. Except for their long ago history murking the waters. I adore Will! He’s practically perfect and a man who demands communication without misunderstanding? Swoony sigh. I adored their relationship and the Austin setting, their jobs, the supporting cast… all with the way Clare strings emotion through her words made for a lovely read. Thank you SMP for the traveling arc! All thoughts are my own.
Why it wasn’t a five star: the bulk of the conflict is at the tail end. While waiting for a shoe to drop, it lacked some of the (dare I say it??) drama I think fiction relies on. And I didn’t need it between the mcs at all, their romance is chef’s kiss! But peppering it through instead of all at the end would have come across better for me.
Friends, this book is EVERYTHING I want in a romance novel. Clare Gilmore has delivered an absolute gem—no, a stunner!
Josephine "Josie" Davis has spent her 20s building her own fashion brand from scratch. She’s a powerhouse CEO, determined to expand her business from online to brick-and-mortar in a way that’s both responsible and ethical. She’s poured everything into her work, but when a key investor insists she hire a consultant, she’s blindsided to discover it’s none other than Will Grant—her ex-best-friend’s twin brother and the boy she kissed nine years ago. A kiss that ended her friendship with his sister.
The Will Josie remembers was brooding, sharp-tongued, and always quick to call her shallow. But the Will Grant of today? He’s thoughtful and kind and seems determined to go above and beyond—not just as a consultant but as a friend. As they reconnect, Josie fights against her growing feelings, convinced her company should come first. Yet, the more time she spends with Will, the more she questions whether her single-minded focus on work is holding her back from the happiness she truly craves.
Told entirely from Josie’s perspective, this is a tender, insightful, and heartfelt story about second chances, friendship, self-discovery, and learning to let others in. While the single POV keeps us grounded in Josie’s journey, Will is a fully realized, nuanced character who might just be one of my favorite male main characters ever. Both Will and Josie wrestle with their futures, and what sets this book apart is its emphasis on honest, mature communication. There’s no third-act miscommunication or unnecessary breakup—just a beautifully complex narrative that pushes both characters toward richer, more fulfilling lives.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It’s a thoughtful, heartwarming romance that feels refreshingly adult in every way.
The audiobook, narrated by Katharine Leonard, is nothing short of mesmerizing. At 10 hours and 47 minutes, Leonard brings the story to life with a captivating performance that perfectly complements Gilmore’s brilliant writing.
“I don’t think you could ever know how badly I ache for you. The way you feel to me is like an inevitable rightness” 😭
This book was a beautiful relationship showing how people can be there for each other not only romantically but professionally and personally. I loved how Josie & will communicated, the banter they had, & how they just were just constantly honest with each other. I thought the side characters were great as well, I loved hearing cami’s story and how she evolved throughout her & Josie’s friendship
Although Perfect Fit by Clare Gilmore gives us a story about Josephine Davis has spent her entire twenties building Revenant, a fashion brand headquartered in downtown Austin. When her biggest investor orders Josie to hire a consultant, the last person she expects to be working with is Will Grant – the twin brother of her ex best friend.
First off I love the relationship between Josie and Will on the second chance romance story line in my opinion Zoe made a big deal of Josie and Will one mistake that should have clear up in the beginning. I really wanted to love this book but it only made me go into a reading slump.
My rate 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy of Perfect Fit by Clare Gilmore. #NetGalley
and for anyone who ever thought: If I don't have the right outfit I'm not going.
Josie is a young CEO trying to juggle her clothing company, her best friend's bachelorette, and her business’s future. When she goes looking for a consultant, she is hesitant to find it is Will Grant – the twin and reason she ruined her friendship with her ex best friend.
Obviously, the more Josie and Will hang out, the more they are attracted to each other. But Josie is too busy with managing her company and Josie’s not convinced she has time for a relationship.
The friendships in the book was sooo good! The support and encouragement and network Josie has is heartwarming. The shenanigans and enforced fun and relaxation shows that working for your career must be balanced with sociality and downtime. Josie managing burnout and fallout was a key theme.
Will is also very patient and knows that Josie needs to make her own decisions and gives her the space to do so, whilst reminding her work shouldn’t be your whole life. The communication and understanding was *chef’s kiss*.
The first 65% was definitely the strongest - more focused on girl bossing and managing your life, friendships, aspirations, and expectations. After that, there is just a lot of spicy scenes and yearning.
The second chance romance plot line felt weak to me - the misunderstanding felt stupid and small and I couldn’t understand why such a big deal was made of it.
There is also a lot of pop culture references, so if that annoys you be forewarned! I personally enjoyed it!
Thank you to RBmedia for sending me the audiobook arc in exchange for a review!
I used to think that Emily Henry was crawling around in my brain but I think Clare Gilmore has her beat. Josie was so relatable. I thought the way Gilmore phrased Josie’s inner thoughts was brilliant. It was far more eloquent than how I would ever describe my inner self/driving force. The characters’ chemistry and interactions felt so genuine, soft, and intimate. I think if someone were to ask me for a book recommendation where the mmc is pathetic (respectfully), this book would be my top recommendation. Every time Will Grant, reformed Finance Bro, appeared on the page, there was a smile on my face.
I just loved Gilmore’s writing. It was magnetic from the first page. The plot flowed, and the word choice was deliberate. No part felt forced, unnecessary, or underdeveloped.
I loved everything about this book and I'm worried that it may be too niche because I felt so seen 😂 This book will speak to lovers of all things Conrad Fisher, Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, SZA, and those who are working through the idea that their productivity is tied their to self-worth. (but) Moreover, Perfect Fit is just a delightful and heartfelt read that I hope all romance readers pick up.
Thank you to NetGalley and SMP for the advanced copy.
CLARE GILMORE DOES IT AGAIN! Her sophomore romance novel, Perfect Fit, is such a lovely book. Lately I’ve been leaning towards romance novels that are a bit more complex and have strong themes (like EmHen and Abby Jimenez) and this one is exactly what I have been looking for.
There are so many tropes (second chance/history together <3) in this book that I adore and it worked so well for these characters’ personalities. And Will is an acts of service KINGGG! I’m obsessed !!!! Their chemistry is so noticeable right from the beginning. Perfect Fit touched on friendships, cancel culture, life working a corporate job, and more. I heavily recommend this book, especially if you loved Love Interest.
Thank you SMP & Clare for the advanced copy. Perfect Fit releases Oct 29!!
4.5 - couldn’t put this book down! I finished it in two sittings over 14 hours. I was completely sucked into the story within the first chapter.
This is a second chance/forbidden romance between Josie and Will, who is the twin brother to Josie’s ex-best friend. She hasn’t seen him in 9 years since they shared a forbidden kiss that blew up Josie’s friendship. They run into each other in Austin, she is a successful clothing brand owner/CEO and he works as a consultant to start ups. They have incredible chemistry off the bat.
This book has fully fleshed out characters, and great side characters that add to the story. It gave me butterflies, and had incredible tension. They also deal with real life problems that felt relatable, and you can’t help but root for these two.
