Addison is a fiery and determined young woman who is battling mental health issues while harbouring deep wounds from a complicated relationship with her parents, leaving her guarded and hesitant to trust others.
Noah is a successful businessman driven by a promise he made to his mother and a desire to make his late father proud. He's sworn off love, focusing solely on his career and personal goals, when meeting Addison shatters his carefully constructed emotional walls.
Their paths cross unexpectedly, igniting a passionate connection neither of them saw coming. As they navigate the tumultuous waters of their budding romance, they must confront their deepest fears and insecurities.
I'm Brittany Rianne, a Romance Author from Australia. Let me take you on a journey filled with love, passion, and happy ever afters.
My heart belongs to the world of love stories, and I’m a complete sucker for a happy-ever-after. I embarked on my writing journey in 2023, fuelled by a rediscovered passion for reading and the unwavering support of an incredible online community that breathed life into my dreams.
My debut novel, 'Falling for Fury,' is the first instalment in a five-book series of interconnected standalone’s, Central Sparks. ‘Hiding from Hope’, is the second book and is set for release on 29 July 2024.
Set against the bustling and romantic backdrop of New York City, the series follows best-friends Addison, Casey and Rosie, and the friends that make up their found family. Filled with some heavy emotion, plenty of banter, angst, swoony-romance and certainly some spicy moments, Central Sparks is epic love and deep friendship.
When I'm not lost in the world of books, writing stories, or falling for fictional characters, you'll find me savouring moments with my family and friends. Between the chapters of life, I also steal moments to recharge with a good night's sleep, copious amounts of coffee, and enjoying my own version of a cozy small-town, romance.
Firstly, a BIG thank you to Brittany for generously providing me with an ARC to read. It was an honour and absolute pleasure to read….Secondly, I cannot believe this is a debut novel! It was bloody BRILLIANT 👏🏼
I absolutely devoured this! I was hooked right from the start….It had everything. A great plot, great characters including all the side characters, witty humour and banter, the right amount of spice and slow burn tension.
The story follows Noah and Addison who cross paths unexpectedly and have a not so meet cute and it turns out that Noah’s best friend is in fact Addy’s Brother in Law. I loved seeing their relationship grow and how they both navigated through their own individual fears and insecurities. Noah became exactly what she needed. He accepted and embraced her challenges rather than trying to change her.
Addy, our FMC is a short, fiery law student who battles with mental health and it impacts her relationships with her friends, family and past boyfriends and it often leaves her feeling misunderstood, unworthy and unlovable. I loved how the author was able to convey Addy’s feelings and put them into words to give readers a real perspective on what someone like her actually goes through.
NOAH freaking Karvelas. I fell in love with him within the first few chapters. THIS MAN MADE ME SWOON. He’s 6’5, charming, successful, has golden retriever energy, supportive, patient, has a filthy mouth 😮💨 AND wears backwards caps (need I say more?) Addison definitely made him work for it 🤭 and I was literally screaming at her saying JUST LOVE HIM ALREADY 😭
I lived for Noah’s POV and inner monologue. I was giggling and kicking my feet throughout! The nicknames he gave her, her learning Greek words for him and him talking in Greek back to her 🫠 And the scene with the L word….🥹 there are literally too many to mention.
What a fantastic debut novel, I cannot wait for the rest of the series. I am TOTALLY shipping Caleb and Rosie 🫠
First book ever? Are you kidding me 🫠 And what a book to put out there into the book girlies hands 🥹
“𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒄𝒂𝒌𝒆.” “𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐.”
NOAH 🥹 I’m just out here collecting book boyfriends because this guy is something else.
“𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒎𝒚 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒇𝒖𝒓𝒚.”
Mr. Karvelas is the sweetest, most patient and pretty much the only male in Addison’s life not to treat her as something that’s going to shatter at any moment. AND he has the dirtiest mouth.
He’s persistent to no end to get her attention and hoping that she’ll just give him a chance. A man who has completely sworn off love, only concentrating on his work goals gets his world turned upside down (and I don’t think he’s mad about it 🤭)
Addy 🥹 our little firecracker. This woman is a bundle of fury and so damn strong, battling with her mental health after forever being made feel small, worthless and unlovable from the males in her life, she finally meets Noah. Yes she makes him work for her attention and her time, yes I wanted to shake her and say LOVE HIM ALREADY 🤣 but she’s just out there protecting herself from getting hurt again.
I loved seeing their relationship grow, both of them opening up to the possibilities of love together, how in-tune Noah was with Addy and her struggles, being exactly the person she needed.
Noah’s inner monologue will ALWAYS be my favourite. The group of side characters were also great, I’m ready for some more of Rosie AKA the scary one 🤭 and the guys! Broody Jessie with a cafe/ bookshop.
I could go on but I’ll stop here. I loved everything about this book and I CANNOT wait to see what comes next with the series 🫶
Yes I finished this book in less than 9 hours!!! It was amazing, you wouldn’t even know this a debut novel from Brittany because her writing is phenomenal.
I’ve never resonated with a FMC as much as I did Addison, she is literally me and I felt like I was reading myself. Particularly in parts where Addison was trying to communicate her feelings that’s how I feel in life in general. I felt all of Addison’s inner struggles so much so, I cried a few times reading the mental health parts because it really hit home for me.
Addison is a pocket rocket of fury, and Noah is just a golden retriever. Their journey of them finally getting together was written so well, I loved that Addison made him work for it, she did not give in straight away to Noah’s charm.
The mental health rep was written so well, and was continued on throughout the whole book, you literally felt like you were Addison with her inner monologue.
“𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻, 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘁.” (Excuse me, while I go cry because this quote only destroyed me😭)
I highly recommend this book, and the spicy scenes 🫣🔥🥵 well done Brittany on your first debut novel.
TW - suicidal ideation, suicide attempts (somewhat of an attempt on page (in the bath) + attempted of a sc loosely recounted + a previous attempt of the FMC v loosely recounted), panic attacks (on page), struggles with anger / rage, anxiety & depression, physical altercations, cheating (past, recounted, not by the MCs), verbally / emotionally abusive parents, death of a parent (past, grief, mentioned throughout), use of a racial slur by a sc, verbal abuse from an ex, financial crime
Tropes - frenemies to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, best friend's sister (in law), family drama
if you liked this book, this review is not for you. there are also light spoilers near the end
I really did not like this book. I know this is meant to follow Addison's (FMC) mental health journey and her issues with anger but F U C K M E, take a shot every time "rage" or "fury" is mentioned in this book if you're looking for a drinking game (spoiler: 183 times total). It got old really quickly and it felt like the author didn't bother giving Addison a personality outside of her mental health which was disappointing. I know it's grumpy x sunshine where she's grumpy but it felt very forced.
Noah (MMC), bless him, was very confused about his feelings for Addison and while it was cute, it didn't feel like there was any basis for his feelings outside of the few run-ins they had which also felt quite forced and orchestrated. Nearly halfway through, he's crushing hard and they know nothing of substance about each other except that she struggles with her mental health and was previously cheated on.
The MCs were horrible communicators imo and have no chemistry outside of sex. Addison acted hard to get and it didn't make sense because it didn't come naturally, she actually wanted to be with him.
Noah's biggest flaw is that he's the biggest enabler of Addison's rage (take a shot). Throughout, he calls it "sexy as hell" and she feeds off of those comments. For me, all of his comments praising her for her (you guessed it) rage and fury and making comments about it making her who she is and it making her strong is just as good as saying "I think your depression is sexy as hell", which I hope we can all agree, is weird. I honestly chalked this up to the fact that Addison did not have a personality outside of her mental health and they both knew barely anything of substance about each other. The mental health rep in this book was disappointing to say the least and there is barely any representation of Addison working on herself until the end despite her acknowledging the state of her mental health. She stops going to therapy in the beginning after losing her job but when finding one shortly after, there is no mention of therapy until the very end where it feels like the author just remembered she didn't include anything on the FMC working on herself so she had to quickly add something in.
The big blow up was so fucking stupid and the author probably should've gotten someone who works in compliance / financial crime to read over the situation she crafted because as someone that does work in financial crime, I read the situation in a state of confusion -
Addison doesn't like when her family treat her like she is about to implode so they don't always tell her things straight away, she wants to be treated like an adult and not like she's going to break all the time. Guess what happens when they share the big bad news with her? She implodes. (no one is shocked by this).
Her reaction to Noah having known what was going on was so so so stupid because idk if she knows what insider trading means but it means you can’t actually tell anyone what’s going on not to mention any contracts involved. To make it even worse, Noah has this whole story prepared about why he couldn't say anything and making deals with those involved and all of that explanation is U N N E C E S S A R Y because if this was real, he wouldn't be able to tell her anyway because if you suspect insider trading (or any other fin crime) you're not meant to tip them (or their family) off making the entire 3rd act breakup a moot point and making me dislike the FMC more than I already did. She couldn’t know because she couldn’t, she didn’t have to accuse everyone of lying to her because she wasn’t privy to some information.
She went into a whole thing about them codling her to protect her mental health so she doesn’t implode but she did anyway literally proving them right. Addisson doesn’t listen or take responsibility for her actions and yet doesn’t want people to tiptoe around her but has shown no behaviour to prove that they shouldn’t be. She wants people to try to understand her and what she’s going through and when they do take her MH into consideration, she’s not happy with that either. Not to mention, she keeps accusing Noah of lying and he didn’t actually lie, he just didn’t say anything about a situation that he could not speak to her about whether he wanted to or not.
The story arc is very very weak; it’s like the author realised there was no character development in the first 350 pages and had to put something in the last 50 where we finally see Addison go to therapy which brings me onto the point that this book is too long and I’m a firm believer that contemp romance shouldn’t be more that 350 pages and the repetitive nature of this book can vouch for that.

Firstly I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Britt for trusting me with this ARC. And let me just say, WOW! The fact that this is a debut novel has blown me away, you should be so proud of what you’ve created!
Falling for Fury follows Addison, a fiery and strong young woman, who is studying law and has battled mental health for most of her life. Addy meets Noah, our golden retriever MMC and “Greek god” who is also a successful businessman and has sworn off love. Despite a rocky start and what Addy later describes as a “90’s romcom-frat-house-meet-cute”, the story follows Addy and Noah’s passionate and fiery romance that unexpectedly breaks down their walls and leaves them having to confront their deepest fears.
This book had SO much depth, the character development was great, and the banter had me smiling and kicking my feet. I was also SO here for the vampire diaries references and the Matt Donovan slander 😂 (iykyk)

I don't want to be where I'm not wanted, shortcake. But if you'll have me, I want to prove to you that this is worth the risk."
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
Noah freaking Karvelis. Wow. Noah is the most patient, kind and supportive man. He is also 6’5, extremely charming and is PERSISTENT 🥵🙌🏼 He takes the time to learn about Addy’s mental health, her fury and her rage when it consumes her whole, without any judgement, and encourages her to see that her fury is not her weakness.
“While that clutch to your anger has protected you, you are still in control, and when you recognize those signs, you can choose a path.”
This book is so much more than a romance; it explores the relationship between mental health, trauma, relationships, emotions, and learning to trust after being let down so many times. It detailed the realistic struggles that a person goes through when they’re battling mental health, depression and anxiety and most importantly, the book did it so well. Anyone who has struggled with anxiety or depression knows that our inner monologue can really put us on a path of destruction, so Addy’s inner monologue felt very realistic.
Overall, wow Britt you have created something so beautiful and I’m so proud of you, I can’t wait for book 2 and can’t wait to read your future work!
TROPES: 🍓 Dual POV 🍓 Frenemies to lovers 🍓 Mental health rep 🍓 Reverse grumpy x sunshine 🍓 Golden retriever MMC 🍓 He falls first
** Please check the trigger warnings for this book before you read it as the book does discuss and describe some confronting events and emotions. **
I love being able to read ARCs and see the great things coming from new authors. This book was fantastic.
Addison, our FMC, struggles with mental health and rage, to the point that it impacts all her relationships. She is smart, fiery and misunderstood. Reading her mental health struggles hit close for me, and I love the authors ability to put those feelings into words.
Noah validates her feelings, embraces her as she is and supports her when she needs it. He has a filthy mouth, and big cinnamon roll energy (swoon). This story had me laughing and crying in the space of 2 minutes. It has real heart, and I just love seeing a MMC that loves and embraces the FMC without trying to change her.
Also, when he first drops the L word? Probably my favourite declaration scene in a book. Oh, and this is the first book I have seen acknowledge the 'post-sex gross stuff', including peeing after sex, and I am HERE. FOR. IT.
Honestly, great first novel by Brittany; can't wait for the next!
What to Expect: - Best Friend's Sister - Reverse Grumpy x Sunshine - Mental Health Rep - He Falls First - Golden Retriever MMC - Frenemies to Lovers - Family Drama/Issues - Fiesty/Witty Banter - Dual POV
I really enjoyed this book! I stayed up all night reading it because I could not put it down. I am very surprised this is Brittany Rianne's debut. This truly is an amazing story and a solid debut.
This story follows the unexpected connection between Noah and Addison. Addison is a law student who struggles with mental health. Her mental health impacts every facet of her life, which results in her harboring a lot of anger. She feels she is broken and unworthy of love. Noah is beyond swoon-worthy! I LOVED how he continuously told Addison she was not broken and validated her feelings. He encouraged her to embrace her rage and showed her it was not a weakness. Noah didn't walk on eggshells around her or treat her like she could break at any moment. Although it was hard for her to accept, and she tried to push him away every chance she got, the support, patience, and care he gave her was what she needed. Addison made him work hard for her attention, but Noah didn't give up. He loved every part of Addison ("broken bits, rage and all"), and that was beautiful. I enjoyed witnessing their individual growth and the growth of their relationship. The character development was amazing. The banter, passion, and spice were perfect!
"He doesn't just love me; he loved the parts of me I grew to hate, parts he is teaching me to love, and he's showing me how they too are beautiful in their own ways"
Falling for Fury is well-written and explores mental health, relationships, trust issues, and trauma. The struggles detailed in this book were realistic and authentic, and I truly resonated with this story. I can't wait to read what Brittany writes next.
Thanks to Brittany Rianne for gifting me an e-ARC. Opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you so much Brittany Rianne for allowing me to read this amazing story as an ARC before release!
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 out of 5 stars! I still find it so hard to believe that this is our authors FIRST EVER published book! It was an absolutely amazing read that kept me captivated & reading the entire book in one sitting! It was filled with some of my favourite tropes, Reverse Grumpy x Sunshine, Dual POV, He Falls First, Mental Health Rep & Family Issues.
We follow the lives our of main characters - Addison, fiery ball of deep feelings & rage while navigating her mental health struggles, family relationships & friendship & Noah, our career driven, emotionally unavailable, tall "greek god" who is just trying to make his mum & late father proud. They are quickly swept into a "will they, wont they" romance full of uncertainty, wanting to let themselves be loved, while simultaneously believing that neither of them are deserving of said love.
I resonated so much with both of our main characters, Addisons mental health stuggles & anger issues, Noahs desperate need to make others proud and our author wrote their thoughts & emotions onto the page so eloquently. I was glued to my Kindle as i read, cried, giggled and kicked my feet throughout this entire story (especially as we started to see our sweet Noah break down Addys tough exterior but i'll shh and let you guys read about it)
I am OBSESSED & can't wait to read more of the series!
I truly LOVED this book. i LOVED the fact that there was a mental health rep in this book. I loved the realness in Addy's character. I also loved the bond between Noah and his family. I also really enjoyed the playful banter between Addison and Noah. Definitely an easy and fun read!
This is such a strong & amazing debut novel- it blows me away! This book is very raw, deep, emotional, & real, & if you’ve ever struggled with mental health issues then I believe you’ll see at least a tiny bit of yourself in Addy❤️🩹 Britanny did not shy away from showing just how complex & dark mental health issues can be, which I respect & admire, but that also means that certain scenes were quite difficult to read due to their confronting nature, so please read the TW’s first!! Overall though, the portrayal of Addy’s mental health was phenomenal👏🏼 On a more lighthearted note, this book is also very charming, sweet, fun, & quite funny & spicy🤩
Addison is a lil spitfire! She is snarky, feisty, sassy, grumpy, closed off, & protective of her heart. Despite struggling really bad mentally, she doesn’t want to tell anyone about it because she’s worried she’ll inconvenience them- that’s how sweet & selfless she is☹️ Her growth was really amazing to witness & I’m sure so many readers will be able to empathise with, & see themselves in her❤️🩹 Noah my sweet boy! If you look up “whipped” in the dictionary, his name will be there. He’s a sweetheart, caring, charming, swoony, cheeky, protective, attentive, obsessed, has a really good & pure heart, & is a total sunshine boy🥹He understood Addy on a deep level, gave her space or was right by her side when needed, never once tried to diminish or change the person that she was, & always offered her a safe place to land💚
There was tension, fireworks, & heat between these two right from the start. They developed an emotional connection quite early on which I loved, & overall had great relationship development. With Addy being the grump & pushing Noah away to deal with her own issues & insecurities, & Noah being the sunshine boy who is obsessed with her but has sworn off relationships, the push & pull between these two was bound to be great😆👏🏼
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: enemies to lovers, reserve grumpy sunshine, mental health rep, best friends younger sister, family drama
When i say you need to run (do 𝐧𝐨𝐭 walk) and pre-order your copy of Falling for Fury right this second, I mean you need to do it i͟m͟m͟e͟d͟i͟a͟t͟e͟l͟y.
This is Brittany’s debut novel, and I’m telling you now, this queen was born to write. This book is absolutely amazing. From the first chapter i was absolutely hooked.
The portrayal of our FMC (Addison) spoke major volumes to me, especially me, in my 20s trying to navigate life with an abundance of doubt and lack of confidence when it came to anything i tried and failed to achieve. There were so many moment when i just stopped and looked at the screen like “this was me, Addy, you can get out of this, it is possible”.
I too, was like Addy, couldn’t hold down a job, couldn’t control my rage, never felt good enough and would keep people at arms length (i still do this, but not as much as i used to). Overthinking and overthinking until i hide in my bedroom and spoke to nobody. Until, my partner came along and stripped away those demons and not only loved me for my pitfalls, but made me see that i can love and be loved and that i am worthy of everything i want to achieve. She helped me carry the weight of my issues and dark thoughts and help me grow into who i am today. 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝘆, 𝗶 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.
𝐍𝐨𝐚𝐡 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐬. brb whilst i add him to my collection of book boyfriends. Noah is 1000% up there with the elite of book boyfriends. Honestly, what is it about Noah’s? 🫠
Noah + Addy’s love story is one for a whole lifetime and I freaking love how much i related to this story and Addison.
“𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝑵𝒐𝒂𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝒂𝒕.” - it’s okay Addy, we all fail at this too 😍🥵
Thank you so much Brittany for the ARC of this book - I cannot believe this is a debut novel, it was so good, and it was a pleasure reading it!!
"You make me feel like I'm living a high all the time, even when I drop into my lows"
Addison has struggled with mental health and rage for quite some time, to the point where it affects all of her relationships. Noah runs into Addison (literally) at his best friends daughters birthday party, which also happens to be Addison’s brother in law. They are both drawn to each other, and have to navigate through their individual insecurities and fears.
The mental health representation in this book was so good!! I thought it was so accurate, and so many times I related to the same thoughts that Addison was having. I also absolutely loved the way that Noah validated all of Addy’s feelings, and embraced and loved her exactly the way she was.
"He doesn't just love me; he loved the parts of me I grew to hate, parts he is teaching me to love, and he's showing me how they too are beautiful in their own ways"
I could not put this book down, and I finished it in 48 hours, which I haven’t done in ages.
It was so easy to connect to the characters and the story, and I would highly recommend reading it! There were a few things I didn’t love, but overall I still really enjoyed this book!!
- Reverse grumpy x sunshine - Frenemies to lovers - Mental health rep - Golden retriever MMC
I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC and I can’t even begin to explain how much I loved this story. But I’m going to try so buckle in.
What initially drew me to this book was the promise of everything I love about a good romance novel. Spicy, reverse grumpy x sunshine — but what I didn’t expect was for Addison and Noah's story to be so much more. Addison's fiery spirit and her struggles with trust and family issues, and Noah, with his career-focused mindset and emotional barriers, just had me rooting for them both from the get-go.
The way their romance unfolds is just so beautifully written, don’t get me wrong I’m all for an insta love storyline every once and while but I just loved that this story truly built on all the passion as well as the messy, real-life stuff that comes with love outside of fiction.
One of the main themes of this book is Addison dealing with depression, anxiety and rage. As someone who suffers with their mental health themselves, I usually look to books as an escape especially because it can sometimes be hard to truly capture what it’s like down on paper. But the way that Brittany delivered this topic, through Addison, was really truly special to me especially because anger control issues is something I had problems with for a very long time until I got help (lol thanks Zoloft xx).
Truly, Falling For Fury is like a warm hug for anyone who's faced mental health challenges and still dared to hope for love and happiness. It's a touching, authentic and truly unforgettable read that I know will stick with me for a long time.
I was part of the beta team and I loved every moment of it!
The mental health representation was impeccable! It was so on point it made me tear up at times and I think that it's 100% the strength of this novel, yes the love story was beautiful but I felt seen and I am sure many people will share that feeling too!
I can’t wait to read the final product, I can already tell that Brittany is a great writer I had so much fun reading “Falling for Fury”, I was hooked since the beginning, and wanted to know more!!
It will be fun to have in the future Addy’s friends' love story ;) Also, the spice OMG, it was so good!!!
oh my wow.. the mental health representation in this book was spot on.. Noah never leaving Addys side and being there and helping her every step of the way through her rage and anger and her anxiety and panic attacks was extremely heartwarming and also heartbreaking to read about... She felt so unseen, never felt heard by her family and always looked down on.. I feel like I can relate when you have people who don’t understand your struggles.. it makes you furious when they talk down on you and don’t understand.. but when you find that one person who does get it? The light becomes a little brighter.. This story was beautiful to read about❤️
This book dealt with Addison's issues so well. I enjoyed the development of Noah and Addison's relationship, which was brilliantly written. Addison was a character who had been dealt some cards that had made her feel things that not many people would understand, Noah was a character who was prepared to help Addison deal with her issues and show her that she is strong and her issues shouldn't keep her from finding her happy ending.
Brittany Rianne. What can I say. You are amazing and absolutely born to write. So so so proud of you and so f'in happy you have brought these characters to life. I can't wait to hear what the world has to say about them and the next in the series 🌶️🥵🫠
“And, shortcake, I’ve been falling for your fury since the day I met you.”
Thank you Brittany for sending me this ARC to read. Congratulations on your debut novel 🥳
Falling for Fury follows Noah, our golden retriever mmc who has sworn of love and is a successful entrepreneur in NYC. It also follows Addison, our feisty fmc who’s dealing with mental health issues, shitty parents and trying to get her law degree. These two are going to meet in the most unexpected way and once Noah meets Addison, he can’t stop thinking about her.
I absolutely loved Noah and Addison’s chemistry. He’s the perfect book boyfriend, always supportive, caring and sweet with Addy, even though he does have a dirty mouth 🫠. All the mental health part felt real and was so well written, I wanted to hug Addy while reading this book. This was such a beautiful debut novel. I love Brittany’s writing style. I can’t wait to read more about the other characters from the Central Sparks series!!
I read a lot of positive reviews of this book. I read that it didn't seem to be a first work; that it was an ode for people crossing mental health issues...
I started reading and really enjoyed the first chapters. I wasn't halfway through and I was already recommending it to people. The female character was sassy and the male character was already head over heals and I love a good "he falls first and harder".
However, the story started dragg in sameness. The female character has serious mental health problems and doesn't grow, nor does it make intentions of it. Her pair, on the other hand, is always there for her, despite the fact that he also has his problems. But the female character is so absorbed on herself that she isn't even able to be present in the relationship and to give herself and listen, as much as she wants to be desired and heard.
Addison is a very empty character. Zero content. Basically, she has constant depressive episodes and explodes all the time. People around her treat her like she was glass and she gets annoyed about it. But I just wonder, how the hell she wanted to have people treat her if, in fact, she enters constant crises, with suicidal thoughts and attempts in the middle. Are the people around her, simply, should just ignore it? I don't think so. But again, she is never, but never able to see the other's point of view, being only centered on her own belly button.
I don't understand how people like her, because she has no acts of love with no one other than with herself. And in the end, I just wished her and Noah to not be together, because she doesn't deserve him. At all.
He has a serious trauma that is very little addressed, while hers is spoken ad nauseum, with the word "rage" repeated almost 200 times in 400 pages. If this is a dual POV, I think the least would be to see Noah's healing. Because he deserves it. He is described as an extremely kind person who, in this book, seems only to be the feminine character accoutrement. That she uses when she wants and dismisses when she thinks she "needs to grow." 🤡 And worse...
And come spoilers:
😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️ She only comes back to him after talking to her therapist. (Even in literature people only make decisions like this after talking to the therapist? Just asking for a friend). 😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️
End of spoiler.
The 3rd act breakup is just the sillyest thing ever. And she's not even right.
I post all this on the table... The book ends up being very weak, repetitive and annoying. The character doesn't deserve family, friends, nor the boyfriend she has. Supposedly, when you create a character, we are supposed to create empathy, even if she is a bad person, but here hasn't. She's just a self-centered, narcissistic person who only grows in the last chapter and even then, it's vacant...
The ending is only cringe. Nothing else to say... I'm sad. Noah deserved better...
I actually really enjoyed this book (it found me at a bad time so it did take a while for me to get through it) but WOW DID THIS HAVE ME HOOKED.
The tension between Noah and Addison had me gripping the ends of my hair; she played longer than I would have. The amount of patience Noah had with Addy while always trying to support her emotionally and mentally as she battled the things she did, how can you not fall in love with him?
Addison's character was more relatable than I realized as I first started reading through her story. Living in constant anger, always feeling as if people are walking on eggshells around you so they don't say anything that'll have you explode, consistently being the last to know about bad news. You start to feel crazy. You start to feel isolated. You start to feel like something is genuinely wrong with you. And it hurts. And it hurts even more knowing you can't control it. I felt seen through Addy's character, and she helped me through more than I could have imagined.
The reason couldn't rate it a 5 was because the ended felt a little rushed. I wouldn't have minded another 50 pages of reading through Addy's internal struggle of being away from Noah as she worked on herself. And seeing her slowly come to the conclusion of not being able to feel complete on her journey of healing without him. But overall, adored this read and would rate it an easy 4.65 out of 5 <3
first of all i wanted to thank brittany for providing me with an arc for her debut novel and for writing such a good and realistic representation on mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and intrusive thoughts. i was actually feeling down for a couple days while reading the book and i could see myself somehow reflected in her pages and in addy's mind.
in truth, it took me a couple chapters to actually get on board with abby and noah's story but once it clicked for me it was 100% beautiful and fun to see the way everything unfold between them, how their relationship grows and how they both try to fight their own insecurities while at the same time they try to build something together.
i couldn't be more happy with an fmc like abby: the way she battles everyday with her rage, her overthinking, her family's overbearing and patronizing presence, their standars and her depression... i was mindblown and it literally made my heart ache. i specially loved how noah tries to understand abby's feelings and thoughts through the whole book, not trying to change her but just making her see that he wants her for who she really is and that he just wants to support her no matter what in every step of the way. the way he also wants to protect her 24/7 but lets her fight her own battles instead??... noah's pov was certainly one of my favourite things of the book!!
i'm so curious about the rest of the series and i know i already said but i couldn't be more thankful to the author for a novel like this!

Addison battles with mental health and I feel for her because her family always makes her feel less.
Noah was truly an amazing character he understood Addison and accepted her better than her family.
For someone who didn’t want a relationship, Noah was the sweetest person & definitely my favorite character.. he was always so patient with Addison and he always believe in her.
The story was very sweet and enjoyable (:
Thank you Brittany Rianne for gifting this ARC

“To all my angry girls” 🥺🖤 From the dedication, I knew this was going to be a special book.
The character of Addison, what can I say. I have never felt so personally connected to a character, I related to her in every way - the anger and rage, anxiety, depression, heartbreak. It just felt so relatable to me. It was like everything that goes on in my head was written on paper.
I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing about it and have come out of it with a new favourite. This book was just so so beautiful and I cannot recommend it enough! The characters, the storyline, the writing, everything!! I can’t believe this is Brittany’s first book, seriously 👏🏼👏🏼
This book begins with a trigger warning, which I appreciated since I have had my own struggles with mental health. I'll admit, in the beginning I had a hard time completely understanding the two main characters, but as I got to know them better, they both grew on me. On the surface, this is a romance story with good amount of spice, but it digs so much deeper with topics about mental health, family issues and personal growth. I liked the relationship between Addison and Noah, especially with how Noah embraced Addison as she was, instead of walking on eggshells like everyone else around her. I thought the book playlist (a song for each chapter) was a nice touch, even if I didn't always listen to it while reading the book. This book is impressive for a self-published debut author - I would have never suspected this just from reading the book.
if you're looking for a slow burn romance, this book is for you! i loved noah and addison's story and the mental health representation in this book is so important. brittany did a really great job with this !! 😌
Thoroughly enjoyed this read! I feel like it was easy to connect to the characters and feel what they were going through. Would definitely recommend this book to all my fellow book lovers!
