“I won’t let anyone hurt him. Even if he can never be mine.”

Ezra.
Escort. Cynical. Hunted by a killer. Needs a man capable of anything.
Frank. Client. Protective. Loyal. Wants to forget his violent past.

On his 40th birthday, Frank decides his chance for love has passed.

But when an old friend treats him to a night with a beautiful escort, Frank is not about to say no. In fact, Ezra proves to be so intoxicating, he doesn’t want to let go.

So he’ll pay. An easy solution to loneliness. No strings, no expectations, a clean transaction and a bit of extravagance in his otherwise frugal life.

That is, until one night Ezra arrives on his doorstep, desperate for protection from none other than Frank’s old buddy. A man as dangerous as Frank used to be.

Ezra has a very clear goal in life—make a load of money while he’s young and beautiful, then marry rich. His rules are just as simple: stay safe and don’t fall for clients.

Frank might be Ezra’s type: big, rough around the edges, and generous in bed, but Ezra is level-headed enough to know that a guy who works at a junkyard and doesn’t exactly own a yacht isn’t marriage material.

But Ezra is in danger, and he needs a man with massive fists, not deep pockets, so he will do everything in his power to secure Frank’s affection.

Only Frank never planned to get involved with his little treat. Because if Ezra knew his dark secrets, he’d be terrified of what kind of monster he’d let into his bed.

This book is about Ezra and Frank, who are polar opposites in a lot of ways. Ezra is beautiful, pampered, sunny and delicate with a lot of body-image issues while Frank is big, strong, grumpy and dangerous with a secret heart of gold.

“I love you, Frank,” Ezra whispered straight into his ear.
“I love you too. I love you so much. You’re my treasure.”

They meet in an escort/client situation and Frank is pretty much smitten from the beginning. Ezra isn’t sold on him for a long time though, because he already has other plans for his future; namely, snagging himself a rich husband after earning as much money as an escort as he can. Meanwhile, Frank literally lives at a junkyard, so he is not exactly what Ezra pictured for himself.

Frank chuckled, closing his eyes, but when Ezra’s breath steadied after a while, he opened them again to take in the treasure in his arms. Ezra didn’t know it yet, but after tonight, all bets were off. Frank would fight to keep him.

However, when Ezra is threatened by one of his former clients after witnessing something he shouldn’t, he decides to seek refugee with the one man he feels can protect him and keep him safe: Frank.
And Frank is all too willing to take care of Ezra in any way the beautiful man will let him. In the meantime, Frank just hopes Ezra won’t find out that he is just as involved in criminal activity as the man Ezra is running from (or, at least, not before he can make Ezra fall in love with him too).

This man was the most precious person he’d ever met, and he’d bend over backwards to make him happy.

The reason I think I enjoyed this book the most was because Frank was just so in love with Ezra. He adored him in every single way, and he would have done anything for him. It was very swoony.

P.S. Jag was, once again, literally the cutest person ever and his little friendship with Ezra was super adorable.

Junkyard owner Frank (40) is given a high-end escort, Ezra (22), as a birthday gift from an old acquaintance. I had my reservations, especially once I found out these two characters continued this ‘relationship’ for a year. A YEAR!

The writing helped me understand how they justified their unique arrangement. Personally, the idea of being intimate with someone while they are also intimate with multiple others does not tug my heartstrings. I was thankful Merikan doesn’t graphically describe the other men Ezra is with.

Initially, Ezra came off as shallow and self-absorbed. When he makes plans to move to LA, his eye is on his future wealthy husband, he drops Frank without much thought… until he needs his help.

And of course Frank wants to take care of Ezra, but he has to keep some secrets. Frank completely melted my heart, he doesn’t feel worthy of Ezra but does his best to provide for him.

Hiding him here was like stabling an award-winning Arabian stallion in a dirty old pigsty with holes in the roof, but what was Frank to do when that was all he had to offer?

I can always rely on these authors for an entertaining and unique read. I was very impressed with the way they handled Ezra’s issues around food, and body insecurities.

The award for best supporting character goes to Jag. His book is still my favorite in the series, but this is a very close second!

I wish the ending have been a little different. I would’ve loved for Ezra leave and come back because it was a choice for him to pick Frank above all. Still, this book was packed full of heart, and had amazing character arcs.

Frank and Ezra meet under unusual circumstances. Frank is gifted a night with Ezra from an old friend. While neither of them were expecting the other, they actually really kind of hit it off and are each other's types.

"Turn around. Ass up.” If this feast was paid for, he’d have everything on offer at the buffet.

Their first encounter is so enjoyable for each party that Frank starts to regularly visit Ezra. Ezra finds himself in a bit of trouble on his way out of town and decides that Frank is the only person he can go to for help. The men have a bit of an adjustment period to their new normal and once they hash things out, Frank decides he is all in when it comes to Ezra.

He trailed his kisses down to Ezra’s neck, and yes, bit in. Sucked. Then bit again. Because marking Ezra was what he needed. There would be no other man to find offense in hickeys on Ezra's neck. There would be no other man, period.

Now we just need to get Ezra on board with the new plan because Ezra had his own plans and Frank didn't really fit into them. There are ups and downs along the way, but these two really work for their HEA and I love them together.

Frank had become his whole world. He was a cuddly bear, with claws for anyone who dared reach for Ezra. Stable. Safe. Kind. The protector Ezra never had.

As usual, I love the found family that these men have created and I loved seeing the junkyard crew pop in for some entertaining cameos. They each have such unique personalities and some hot takes. LOL.

I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Maybe there’s a nice way to frame it that doesn’t freak him out?” Shane raised his eyebrows. “Like ‘we dispose of organic matter for people out of options’? Like a charity?”

“Frank is… I mean, he’s like a landlord. At the cemetery.”

This is my second favorite of the series after Dex's book. And to say that I am extremely intrigued about book 5 would be an understatement.

3. D!ckhead

So…yeah, Ivana was totally right, this couple and this book are the best in the series so far and I absolutely loved it because it was more angsty than Wanted and it had more depth, the characters were more complex and interesting. I was so intrigued by Ezra in Wanted that as soon as I finished that one I started this one(managed to finish both in a little under 24 hours) thinking that he will be my favorite character in the series but I was wrong. Because if Ezra is an interesting and cute princeling Frank is an absolute freaking KING !!! I loved his big ..everything: heart, love, body and dick 🤣 The way he treated Ezra , the caring, the gentlemanliness gah . The date on the boat was so swoony and romantic I melted. The plot is just as thin as in Wanted and again, don’t take the book too seriously, but the romance is a 🔟 ! I would have given it 5 stars but I found some aspects childish and OTT (like when Dex said he killed those guys to save puppies 😂) I was also very bothered by Ezra in the bonus scene. Let’s say it’s ok a mild flirt (what do I know about what gay couples like) but petting the bartender’s forearm while doing it is a tad too much.Pissed me off.
It was an excellent read, though.

“Frank, I was never happy before. Never. Proud? Comfortable? Yes, but not happy. I felt different around you. I felt good. I trusted you. You and I? We make sense,”

I’ve been looking forward to Frank’s story since book one, and goodness, I really enjoyed this book so much! I think it’s the sweetest one up and right up there with Scum as one of my favourites from the series.

We have Frank, owner of a junkyard inherited from his grandfather. He also uses his business to do darker dealings with local gangs and groups for a fee. He’s the central and a sort of parental figure in our group of misfits. Due to his job and side business, he doesn’t have time for a long-term relationship. However, one day, as a birthday gift, an old acceptance calls up to him and offers a high-end escort, Ezra. Frank becomes hooked and wants the boy with all his being. However, Ezra comes from another world. He has goals of becoming the arm candy to high-status and rich men. He wants to leave and go to LA. Frank is different from all his other clients, but life has shown him that he can put his trust in men and can only rely on himself and money.

I loved how Frank was such a sweet, romantic softie with Ezra. He's a beast of a man (competing in a strongman competition, lifting cars and tires!), but he's so gentle and sweet on Ezra. He's a service top with a bit of a kinky side to him. As escort and client, they have a great relationship, and while Frank is totally in love with Ezra, he knows that their arrangement is temporary and can not be more. He makes the most of the time he spends with Ezra.

Ezra's life gets turned upside down when he witnesses the aftermath of Paul's (his sugar daddy and an old associate of Frank's) work. He's a target now and runs to the only person he feels most safe with. Despite having Ezra with him, he knows that if he learns about his past and his side job at the Junkyard, he will fear him and run away.

Ezra is used to a particular lifestyle, and due to the people around him, he’s become very focused on his appearance to the point that it’s become obsessive and unhealthy, impacting his self-image. I enjoyed that with Frank he got to see that his looks and what he can do for a client aren’t all he’s worth. He means so much more to Frank, and I think Frank’s love really helps him find his footing. I also think being around the other guys, Ros and Jag especially, helped in showing him that people do want to create genuine friendships that aren’t transactional. He evolves as he gets to reexamine himself during his time with Frank and his friends.

He stroked the perfect black waves of hair, elated and lightheaded as if he’d drank a whole bottle of vodka, not a couple of shots. “Baby… I’ve got you. And scars aren’t ugly. They’re just scars. Just today I was thinking about how beautiful you are, how much I miss touching you, how happy it makes me to take care of you.”

“He’d finally met someone who he could trust not only with his body but also with his soul, and it made the noise in his head fall silent.”

Also, despite Frank being Frank, he has a lot of insecurities when it comes to Ezra. For him, Ezra is this diamond, and he’s the mud, and despite being proud of who he is now and not being ashamed, he worries that he won’t be enough for the boy he loves.

Frank still couldn’t believe Ezra was his, even though he’d been waking up with him in his arms for weeks now. Despite everything Frank had told him about his past, Ezra chose to trust him. He’d chosen Frank over LA, over making sugar baby money, and over any other hot guy who would gladly make Ezra his by giving him an expensive car and a palatial home.

This book was super hot and steamy (of course, since it’s KA). Frank takes pleasure in satisfying his lovers. He treasures Ezra while doing the most filthy things to him. Ezra enjoyed being an escort, but his pleasure was always secondary. With Frank, he was the focus each and every time. And the tenderness! Frank is such a sweet, sweet lover; he’s book husband material. They’re so different but complement one another so perfectly. I also loved the kinky scenes as well.

I loved seeing Jag, Shane and Ross again; I adore how much they care for one another. The found family aspect is one of my favourite parts of this series.

Overall, I absolutely loved Grind. Frank and Ezra’s story ticked every box for me, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

First of all, I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

i am 100% in love with this book. granted, i've not read the others in this series, but this installment was pretty much everything i wanted in a merikan title and i could not be happier. i'm still feeling a bit mushy, because of this not-so-dark romance for sure, but also there's just something about reading these ladies that really feels like "coming home" for me. this book was like comfort food and a snuggle and weirdly soothing in a sentimental/nostalgic way that i didn't even realize i needed!

so what can i say about frank that isn't ott melty, swoony, butterflies for this lovable teddy bear soft bae? ok well that pretty much sums that up lol. BUT ALSO frankie kicks ass AND keeps beauty-ezra safe by being a fuckton of ferocious man in beastmode!!! my gawd hi you can swoop in and lift shit and save my life anytime frankie love ❤️‍🔥 sooooo yeah there's also THAT!

and darling ezra who was pretty much a mirror of my younger self, with all his body image insecurities same as i had way back in the day. but growing kinder and more accepting and more loving towards oneself takes courage and patience, and i just looooooved the way merikan showed ezra's evolution and frank's steady love shoring up where certain "foundations" buckled under the pressure of shifting perspectives, introspection and the reexamination of value ideation.

I JUST LOVED EVERYTHING AND I DIDN'T EXPECT TO FEEL ALL THESE FEELINGS BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT TOO!!!

i'm just really satisfied and happy rn, and i think it's just nice to read for the pleasure of loving what you love so i'll just celebrate that! as always, looking forward to whatever these ladies release in the future:

His lips were a drug, and Frank wasn’t looking forward to the detox, so he’d gorge on them one last time.

Dark(?) romance between and ice prince and a gentle giant.

Yes, there might be some gore and violence but I wouldn’t really think of this as a dark romance.
Frank is way sweeter than I was expecting, comunicative about his feelings, respective and refreshingly honest — loved the contrast of his side business with how earnest and caring he was with Ezra. He has a rough exterior but was really just a gooey marshmallow on the inside.

“I’m like my junkyard. Rough around the edges, but full of surprises and hidden gems.”

Still think I enjoyed Dex’s book a little more, but Grind was greatly enjoyable and fun to read.

CW and tropes(spoilers):
- Size difference
- Escort MC
- Age gap
- Protective MC
- Domestic violence
- Mentions of fatphobia and eating disorders
- Strict top/bottom
- Toys
- Bondage

It's been a bit since I read this one but I was away from GR for a hot minute (like 6 months lol) so have some catching up to do with reviews.

What I remember: surprisingly deep, characters well suited to each other, genuinely romantic, really liked it. 'nough said. I'm sure I'll re-read at some point, will update my review then if appropriate.

Note: These days I'm finding I care a lot more about how a book makes me feel vs a need to tear it apart and analyze it from every angle. So when considering my opinion keep that in mind.

Audio: 5 stars for Nathan Kelly, he really does a great job encompassing these characters

Book: 4-4.5 stars

Did I love these two more than Jag and Dane… idk but there was something about these two that I loved!

Ezra and Frank were quiet the pair and I loved seeing them go from escort and lover to protector and lover haha idk I just ate this book up and I am not mad about it!

There is just something about these wrong side of the track guys that really is additive to me! I might have to do another reread of Jag’s book haha 🤔

I have been waiting for Frank’s book! This series is just pure fun. Frank is a gentle giant who has a past he’d rather forget. He deserves his happily ever after but unless he becomes involved with a criminal he knows he can’t share his true self with anyone. When his former “friend” sets up a night with an escort for Frank’s birthday he meets Ezra, who he quickly becomes enamored of.

The book starts off strong with the first night between Frank and Ezra. I thought it was a bit jarring to then jump one year ahead, all the while Frank has been a client of Ezra’s and they have a much different escort/client relationship. They even spend a weekend together at a lake but we don’t see any of that. I felt like a major connection was made between the characters but we only get told about it.

Once Ezra sees something he shouldn’t he flees to Frank for help. He isn’t aware of Frank’s past or what happens at the junkyard. Frank feels very guilty not telling Ezra but he knows he’s run and be in more danger if he knew Frank’s secrets.

A lot of the book was about Ezra worrying about his looks and what he eats. There wasn’t as much excitement as the past books. I enjoyed this but I was a bit disappointed with how the story played out.

I loved seeing the other characters in the junkyard. Jag always makes any part of the story he’s in more entertaining. While this wasn’t as good as I hoped I still enjoyed it and I liked Frank and Ezra together.

I'm giving this great story 4⭐, but compared to other books in this series it's a 4.25⭐ story, so definitely best so far, at least in my opinion.

I've changed my mind completely about Frank. He's such a wonderful man. A sensitive, loyal, gentle giant with a big dick.

🔵 Junkyard owner / escort
🟢 Age gap - 18 years
🟡 Size difference
🟣 Found family
🌶️ Great sex, but half off-page; t/b

Yeah, this book was really good. I definitely recommend it. The writing was good, the plot was well-developed and exciting and the love story definitely very believable.

Frank is the owner of the junkyard, as we all know already. He's 40 years old, an islander , a big tall beefcake who's also doing the Strongman competitions. He's living in his inherited junkyard with a few guys he calls family and he's single most of the time, not really lucky in love.

Frank's friend Paul gifts him a night with Ezra, Paul's 22 - year old sugar baby. Frank is just Ezra's type, so after their intense night together and a lot of crazy chemistry, they decide to meet up once or twice per month to continue their arrangement.

This was my Ezra.

The plot thickens when a year later Ezra breaks things off with Paul and wants to move to California, but stumbles on something he shouldn't, so now Paul's after him and Ezra has noone to help him but Frank.
This is where the story gets interesting, because Frank is actually not who he pretended to be, he lives in a raggedy old house in the middle of a junkyard, he eats instant food and deals with burying bodies, so even though they get along and even start hooking up when Ezra lives with Frank, him finding out who Frank's really like was quite the turnaround.

I felt so bad for Ezra. His life got turned upside down in one single afternoon and that accident at the junkyard was brutal. I kind of almost wanted for Ezra to get away when the issue with Paul was resolved - and then come back because he really wanted to, not because he's now not a perfect sugar baby anymore and couldn't get work in that area.

🌶️ The spice was really good, I did miss that intensity that was there the first time they had sex and I'm looking at the same formula that was present in the previous installment ; the MMCs have their great first time together, then weeks or months pass and we're not there with them - yet a lot of things happen, we get another scene in the middle of the story and another at the end.
It was the exact same thing and it would be nice to experience the intimacy along the way, it could be done with only a few sentences, but it would dramatically change the reading experience , at least for me.

🟠 The plot was good, best so far, I liked seeing all the other characters again - my favourite Hammer and it's always a pleasure seeing Shane, he's such a funny character and always livens up any event, so that was pretty great.

What didn't work for me were two things;

- First, again we get a week or two of their developing relationship off-page when the MMCs get intimate outside of their arrangement , the time where they finally decided to hook up in Frank's house because they both liked each other and the story continued a few weeks later, so that was disappointing.

- And second - it felt like Ezra got that scar just because he was so invested in his looks , maybe to make him realize it's not all about appearance and I understand that, but he should've been in a position where the scar would be healed (like surgery) and he got to freely move away and then decide for himself if he wanted to come back to Frank . It almost felt like he just stayed put because now he had nowhere else to go, even though his feelings for Frank were truthful.

It's a minor thing and it's just me, I'm sure, because overall, this story was really good, but those two things really bothered me.

I do think the books are getting better and better though and I'm glad the series will continue. I like this junkyard and all the characters connected to it, so hopefully we'll get a few more installments here.

❝He wasn't used to so much honesty, and his heart beat faster, warning him that this might be a trap. He chose to fall into it.❞

This was my first book in the series, and I will definitely be going back to read the previous ones because I'm hooked! It was so good, I read most of it in one sitting. For a darker romance, I didn't expect Grind to be so cute and wholesome. Frank and Ezra gave me butterflies. But let me start from the beginning.

Frank works in a junkyard he inherited from his grandpa, but it is more than his place of work. He lives there along with his found family, and the junkyard also hosts his occasional side business: disposing of corpses for his questionable contacts. It's through Paul, one of these questionable contacts, that he meets Ezra, an escort/sugar baby. They have great chemistry from the start, and Frank decides to continue seeing Ezra because he can't get enough of him (and the feeling is mutual). For a year, the two men meet twice a month as Frank's budget allows. But one day, Ezra finds himself in a dire situation: he ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and sees too much. The only person he can reach out to hoping for protection is Frank, so he finds him at the junkyard and explains how he got himself on someone's hit list. Frank takes him in and swears to protect Ezra, which means living together and navigating this new dynamic between them.

Throughout the book, Frank is such a gentle giant and a sweetheart, which I loved. He doesn't want to take advantage of the situation and fall into bed with Ezra despite being desperate for his touch, which is not easy since Ezra is desperate as well: "I'm going to kill you. It's like you don't want to listen. You walk around like Hercules in his prime, making me horny all day long, and now I want your dick hard for me, okay? Or did something change and you don't want me anymore?"

I really loved how the "professional" relationship between Ezra and Frank evolved towards more, and how it was portrayed in the book. It wasn't easy, and both men had to put in some effort and rethink the way they approached each other and thought about each other if that makes sense... Ezra had only ever been involved with men long-term while working for them, so this thing with Frank was new to him. Both men, at some point, thought the other one was too good for them, which was cute. They were both insecure in some way or another, and they had some work to do on their own regarding the way they viewed and valued themselves. ❝It wasn't unusual for a client to touch Ezra in passing, or act in a tender way outside bedroom activities, but he'd never been around one man this much, and Frank's continuous attention recalibrated something deep inside him.❞

I couldn't help but laugh awkwardly when I read this: ❝Silly. Frank needed to understand that he didn't have to hide who he was either. So he sold stolen car parts and trinkets. It wasn't that big of a deal. It wasn't as though he killed people.❞ Poor Ezra, of course, there has to be conflict at some point since he doesn't know the true nature of Frank's side business... I thought it was done well overall and really captured the betrayal Ezra felt.

If you enjoyed other books in this series, or even if you haven't started reading it yet, I would highly recommend reading Grind, a swoon-worthy romance involving crime and endearing side characters.

I received a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest review.

While I did enjoy going back to this series I do think this book was too long.

I really like Frank and honestly I could take or leave Ezra because I'm not a fan of vanity. I did like them together and they complemented each other well, but I did find myself skipping their sex scenes after the first few because they were never ending!

Jag is always enjoyable to read about and it was good to see where the other couples are at in their relationships too.

Genre: MM Dark Romance
Type: Standalone Book 4 of Wrong Side of the Tracks series
POV: Third Person - Dual
Rating:

Frank's 40th birthday became an unforgettable milestone when an old friend bestowed upon him a much-needed gift. However, the pleasure of Ezra's company took a dangerous turn, prompting both men to question the uncertain path ahead.

I loved how Frank had always been the paternal figure of the junkyard and how his care and protectiveness extended to his lover. I liked witnessing Ezra’s vulnerabilities and how he coped with the situations. Their chemistry was electric, and their personalities were complementary.

Relationships were not for him, but when Frank was with Ezra, he allowed himself to pretend that he was, in fact, just a guy who owned a legitimate business and had nothing to hide.

Despite the book's length and occasional repetition, the story remained comprehensive and entertaining.

Grind is a story of adapting and acceptance. It would appeal to readers who enjoy lighthearted MM dark romance.

I was so excited to get this ARC from GRR, but ended up disappointed.

The first quarter of the book is mostly spent fawning over how pretty Ezra is, and how great a fuck Frank is. Also some angst over whether Ezra really enjoys Frank's company, or if it's just the 1000 dollars a month speaking. Sigh.

Then bad and gory things happen, and they're a lot of fun. However, Frank keeping everything bad from Ezra while he is being chased by a murderer, because Frank's afraid of losing him, is not fun. At this point Frank is beginning to look like a wet hen, and that fits very badly with the Frank we've met in the other books. It's great to get to know a character, his strengths and weaknesses, but this is just... no.

There were other things that really grated:

So yeah. I wanted to love this book, and now I'm sad.

This book had a lot of things going for it. I really liked the character dynamic between Ezra and Frank, and included some of my favorite tropes: age gap, opposites attract, ice prince, gentle giant, to name a few. We start the book with them first meeting, which was very prologue-y, and then it jumps to a year later. As they hadn't really grown closer, and there was still a lot to explore, this didn't bother me.
However, when the exploration of their relationship did happen, it was all very...bland. Nothing really happened. It was just a gradual incline of 'I almost like you, I ALMOST like you, almost...I like you, yay!' There was nothing really to challenge it, and made for kind of a boring read.
I believe because Merikan was trying so hard to make Frank a 'good guy' there were some missed opportunities where tension could have come into play. If they want to make him all-benevolent, then this needed to be balanced with some dramatic antics on Ezra's part. Make him lose his shit over something. Make him hurt someone, and learn how to apologize for it. Make bigger moments where he realizes that his previous ideal for a lifestyle wasn't going to work. Make his character bigger. Louder. More.
In the words of Margaret Atwood: Hold. My. Attention.
For this one, I slipped a lot. It was almost a dnf, but again, there were some things I liked.

An arc was provided in exchange for an honest review.

We’ve been building up to Frank’s story all along, and it didn’t disappoint. Frank is truly the definition of a gentle giant, and his love and devotion to Ezra was both pure and sexy. I loved him instantly. And while Ezra took a little longer for me to warm up to, once I understood the reasons for his seemingly superficial obsessions, I had a great deal of empathy for him. His individual character growth within the story was done very well. While there was definitely some heart wrenching angst once everyone’s truths are revealed, overall this was a sweet romance with an even sweeter happily ever after.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.75 stars

Grind is the fourth installment in K.A. Merikan’s Wrong Side of the Tracks series. It stars the de facto patriarch of the series, Frank, and features strong cameos from Shane and Ros (Scum), Jag and Dane (Primal), and Dax and Hammer (D!ckhead), yet undoubtedly puts Frank and the connection he builds with Ezra at the center. These two are another pair of delightfully opposites-attract main characters. The narration alternates between Frank and Ezra and that worked so well in developing these two individuals. I thought getting to see things from each of their perspectives also made it very clear how angsty their situation was.

Overall, I thought this was a fantastic addition to the series. Having read all the books so far, I was so excited to find out that Frank was getting his own book. I approached this book like it would be the end of the series, since this book covers the last of Frank’s found family. And yet, the very end of the story opens the door to the possibility that things may continue for the series.

“Tall and built like a breeding bull, Frank did not look like someone with romantic tendencies, but of all the men Ezra had been with for a bit longer, he was the one who was most thoughtful and caring.”

Frank is gifted a night of pleasure with high-class, prissy escort Ezra and budgets to afford an ongoing “boyfriend experience”. When Ezra finds himself in a bad situation there’s only one client he can trust to take care of him and it’s not the wealthy businessmen.

I loooooooved this. It’s so unbelievably good. I thought I was obsessed with Dex & Hammer (and I am) but Frank & Ezra are putting up a fight for top place.

Ezra is the definition of needy bottom: He hated the way Frank acted as if he was no longer interested. It made Ezra feel as though he was the chaser, and that was not his job! He’s so hot for Frank but because he’s so beautiful and classy Frank assumes he’s out of his league. There’s a strong theme of what makes a person “valuable” and I loved how Ezra grew over the book to look deeper than the surface.

And Frank just deserves the world. Always looking out for everyone and putting himself last 🥺 So steady and dependable. Quietly accepting what he gets and making himself content with that. A giver in every sense, I greatly enjoyed the spice here because it was the one time Frank really let himself go and took everything he wanted from Ezra (to Ezra’s great delight).

I also loved the glimpses of previous characters. I won’t include all the quotes I highlighted but this one tickled me about Dex: Eccentric-looking and with a mind that was seemingly all over the place, he was far from Ezra’s type and also had the vibe of someone who liked weird shit in bed.

I haven’t read the first two books in this series and I can see how there would be some greater enjoyment if you knew all the sides characters but I got on fine as was.

I received an ARC from Gay Romance Reviews and these are my honest thoughts.

Ahh, Frank. Not too many men could lift a car to save your ass but Frank could, and does. A twist of the hand and wallah, he's a dead man. Strange attributes to be sure but Frank manages to make it work.

It goes to K&A's unique and top-notch ability to make the "dubious" character loveable and they do, here more than ever. If you don't come away loving Frank and the whole cast of characters at the junkyard then you're not getting the whole K&A motto, which is everyone deserves a chance at love and happiness.

Freaks and geeks, ex-cons and escorts, strong men and Tarzan, all worth loving and taking the time to read their stories.

Sure, you can't overlook the gore completely. I wasn't able to in "Dickhead" and it affected my mojo. Here? It blew right by me cause Frank is the man, my John Wayne. You get it.

Dead bodies and flowers. More, please.

“I—love you. Of course I want this too.”
Frank exhaled. So he had been nervous! How adorable.
“Oh, thank fuck. For a moment there I worried I shot myself in the foot.”
Unbelievable.
“Frank. You did know I planned to bag myself a high-value husband. I just didn’t think I’d succeed so fast,” Ezra muttered,

Ejemplo:

“And you’re allowed to show me?” he asked.
Jag shrugged. “Of course. You’re his mate. What’s his, is yours.”
Ezra choked on words as his brain filled with cotton candy that definitely shouldn’t taste so sweet. “He said that?”
Jag cocked his head. “He doesn’t need to. It’s obvious.

“Sure, baby, just make a list,” Frank said and kissed the side of his head. “I’d take you with us, but I don’t feel it’s safe.”
Ezra stalled, because he wasn’t anyone’s baby. Or was he? His mind said no, but when he met Frank’s dark, intense eyes, his body said that yes, he definitely was.

4★

For years, Frank dedicated his time to work and taking care of others, but when given a birthday gift, he indulges himself in the continued company of a very handsome man. Ezra is working toward his own business goals; however, it all changes when he is caught in the wrong place. Without many options, Ezra runs to the only person who can be his refuge.

“You are the value, not what you do for me.”

Throughout this standalone series, Frank piqued my interest so I was looking forward to his book and it confirmed just how selfless he can be. Though he had a rocky past, Frank has made a stable life for himself and friends. With Ezra, he may have a stunning exterior yet his inner struggles make it difficult to trust others. Together, Frank is the nurturing hand Ezra so craves and this forges their connection.

Overall, this story is heartwarming and the characters have sizzling chemistry. Though I like knowing what makes a character tick from inner monologue, there was more telling than action and it made this one feel a bit long. That said, I loved getting more of the gang and seeing Frank find his mate, as Jag would say.

Grind is about overcoming insecurities. This book would appeal to those seeking a hot MM romance with light action in a darkish setting.

My goodness.... what an AMAZING series!!! 😍 The junkyard setting is so unique!! LOVED it!! 💖
I really liked Frank & Ezra's story! Don't know why, but while reading, it was hard for me to get a visual of Frank and Ezra? There is a very nice looking male specimen on the cover... but is it Frank?? (Where's the braid?)
I absolutely loved everything about this series, but Jag is still my absolute favorite! 💕

Scum (Wrong Side of the Tracks, #1) by K.A. Merikan Primal (Wrong Side of the Tracks, #2) by K.A. Merikan D!ckhead (Wrong Side of the Tracks, #3) by K.A. Merikan Grind (Wrong Side of the Tracks, #4) by K.A. Merikan

As always; thank you Kat & Agnes for the ARC! 😘

I thought (feared!) this would be the last book in the series..... but surprise surprise 😮😄 it looks there is a fifth book... coming 'soon'!!! 🥰

Liver. F*ckboy extraordinaire. Cocky. Horny.
Would kill for his best friend.
Knox. Kickboxer with a chip on his shoulder and a heart condition. Crybaby. Would get rid of a body for his best friend.
Both: Wanted for questioning in connection to a murder. Both: Possibly-maybe in love with each other and don't even know it.'

I love KA Merikan, and I love this series. It was great returning to the junkyard with its possessive, morally grey men. Frank, the surly but endlessly loyal junkyard owner, is such a softie and hopeless romantic wrapped up in a growly, muscly, tattooed giant. He was so gone for Ezra, and I really enjoyed how the timeline of this book started with Frank paying Ezra for his escort services - with both being secretly smitten the whole time - to Frank and Ezra figuring out a new, non-transactional dynamic developed from close proximity, life-threatening dangers, and a decent amount of optimistic romanticism.

Both Frank and Ezra are dealing with their fair share of insecurities, and it was incredibly interesting to read Ezra's perspective to understand how his insecurities manifested. A lot of this comes through concerns over body image and monetary value assigned to his worth as a person, tangibly represented through fatphobia and disordered eating habits. I was worried that Ezra's eating disorder wouldn't be addressed in the novel, as it went a while before we really see it framed as a concern, so I was pleased with how it was ultimately handled.

While this wasn't my favorite of the series, I still really enjoyed it and found it entertaining. Like always, KA Merikan's characters are nuanced and dynamic.

I loved every single second of this story. It seems like I have truly forgotten how much I love reading. I made a mistake and started this book late in the evening but who cares about a sleepless night from time to time, right?

This is book number #4 in the series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read previous books YET and I had a lot of fun with Frank and Ezra ☺️

I love books about escorts and when I read about the size difference between MCs, muscular softie and a mysterious junkyard I knew I had to read it. This is not your regular romance, it is definitely much darker than books that I normally read but it is also SCORCHING HOT and sometimes surprisingly funny (or maybe I am just weird 🤷)

There is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of sex scenes and they are ALL incredibly HOT🔥🔥🔥. These guys are perfect for each other, like sex and definitely know what they are doing. There is also amazing chemistry between them and I really liked that they became friends before the real romance started.

There is everything I need to keep me on my tiptoes: crime, friendship, longing for safe home and being appreciated plus a dangerous guy waiting for the right moment to get what he wants. Oh, and a secret that might have destroy everything.
The story is very fast paced, it is impossible to get bored. It is well written and I already miss both MCs, they are not perfect, they have their demons and difficult past but they are great as a couple and together fight for better future.

I loved this as a romance and as a crime story, I miss Frank's friends and I will definitely read their stories now that I know how unique they all are.

Frank and Ezra 🔥❤️🔥

4.5 Stars ⭐️

HELL YES, I have waited patiently for Frank's story this whole series and it was so freaking worth the wait!!! Not only was Frank badass AF, he's a giant teddy bear and a beast in the bedroom 🔥🔥🔥. I absolutely ate up this paring, the relationship build was perfect and the story line was a perfect fit for this couple coming together, it was grit, danger, passion and love. Ezra ended up being the perfect man for Frank, as much as he tried he could not resist falling for his knight in not so shining armor, even though the road was rough they finally got to their HEA. The support from Frank's rag tag found family was also epic!! I highly recommend this book, especially for previous book readers.

LOVED THIS. I had no idea what I was expecting to happen but it wasn't this story at all and I was not disappointed. It was so amazing, I loved these two together and they had a really good build-up to their love story. Both characters were very well written and just the way they worked together was *chefs kiss* they both just went so well together without any judgments. This was my second-favorite couple out of the series and I loved the cameos from the other couples because they were such great additions, hanging out with everyone. Also, I fucking love Jag. He is amazing and such a good side character. I wish Ros made was there more but I was just happy to see him in general.

This is an odd found family but it is beautiful none the less.
