Spring has arrived, and open war with it. Mostly healed from his wound, Alexander departs the Dragon Isle only to be set upon by enemies from all sides. Outnumbered, desperate and running for his life, he’s shipwrecked in enemy territory then sold into slavery in the fabled city of Mithel Dour.
Ancient and mysterious, it’s said that the city was discovered rather than built. Within, Alexander finds a secret so old and so powerful that it could turn the tide of war … and possibly doom Isabel to the netherworld in the process.
Since my childhood, I've been passionate about fantasy. After reading many stories of epic struggle set in worlds of magic, I've decided to create a world of my own. The Seven Isles is the result.
Alexander sets out from Bragador's home, is ambushed and taken as a slave to the city of Mithel Dour to work in the mines. He is being restrained by a slave collar to prevent the use of magic. Once there, Alexander discovers something ancient, powerful and incredible in the mines that could help him win the war. The dilemma lies in the fact that it could potentially doom Isabel at the same time.
Isabel, a prisoner of Phane, is struggling to keep the power of Azugorath, the wraith queen from taking complete control of her mind and soul. Phane is still trying to find and open the box holding the third key stone required to open the Nether Gate.
The story is coming to conclusion with the next and final book. Wells writing has improved with each book as the story has developed. Alexander, seemingly outnumbered, outgunned and disheartened is fueled only by his love for Isabel and his unwitting desire to protect the innocent. It will be interesting to see how Wells concludes the series.
Broad in scope, majestic in power book six is a masterpiece. David Wells paints a canvas with strokes of character, plots and acts of nature. You will be captivated by all the twists and turns as you follow Alexander and his quest to free the seven isles from Phane.
I have now completed book #6 in the SOVEREIGN OF THE SEVEN ISLES series. I have been captivated since book #1 of this series. When I review, I do not bring up the purpose of characters contained within the writing, I care more about how an authors work transports me into their imagination, how immersed I become into the storyline, holding my breath, laughing or being amazed at twists and turns in plots, —- am I reading until 3am because I just have to know what happens next??? 👀👀
This series is so well written that I believe a movie/series would be more powerful to viewers than GOT. This series contains good, evil, love, hate, magic, SUPER MAGIC, loyalty, righteousness, characters that start to feel like friends, (or enemies). There is blood, gore, and monsters that make you admire the Author for riveting originality. Of course, a movie or series would only be successful if this creation was followed by the book!!!! Just my humble opinion.
READ THIS SERIES—If you love Si-Fi, Fantasy, Dystopian edges, Dragons, Magic, Romance, Mystery..... honestly, this Series contains all of these and more. I more than highly recommend it, I cast a spell of anticipation that will not leave you until you open this Series and discover you need to create your own Wizards Den to shut out the rest of the world as you navigate through an imagination as powerful and creative as Tolkien!!
Now, I’m off to Book #7 of this series!! ANTICIPATION!! WOOT WOOT!!!
After a whole book sitting out the fighting, Lord Reshi is back into the battle. Notably, not once did, “He was in a fight with a blade in his hand,” come up, although he was many times in just such situations.
Wells has come up with other ways for Alex to fight, sometimes losing, sometimes winning. The losing part makes the character more believable and the recovery is half the fun. Looking forward to the final installment.
This series has been an enjoyable read. Frustrating at times but my faith that the author isn’t going to kill off main characters is growing despite the constant turmoil they endure. Prior experience makes me wary but hopeful that the last installment ends well. Good read all things considered. I might have to get the hard copy set. On to Adept and a fully powered Alex...
Once again the "hero" proves to be stupid and naive. Constantly and unerringly choosing to avoid protection and security. Inevitably and predictably he is always on the run, and either getting injured, or captured. As the sole hope for the future he should be very careful with his life, and instead of reacting like a "swashbuckler" or a careless random adventurer.... he should instead be a King and manage the overall war effort as a leader would.
While a sometimes entertaining read, this series of books is way too long. It is a series of crises that are all too similar. It leads a reader to believe that the author is being paid by the word count rather than writing with narrative drive. The bottom line is that this probably a three-book series expanded to seven. The characters are interesting, the plot has merit, and the writing is very good.
Now we're getting somewhere. There's still a crapload of stuff happening but it feels like it's coming together. Wells himself seems to grow more with each book, as well. Rather than being irritated with the abrupt choppiness that's started and ended each book in the middle of the action, this one even found a perfect place--leaving you excited dive into the climax.
I haven’t enjoyed a book series so much since I read Lord of the Rings. The books that are full of action, never a dull moment, just keep getting better. It’s great the way the characters develop. While they’ve staved mostly with the good guy all good and the bad really bad it’s done without making the good guys revoltingly self Righteous.
I’ve read six of the seven Sovereign of the Seven Isles now and every single book entertained and enthralled me to read the next book. This author is gifted. His imagination and gift of writing is next to none. How lord Rieshi wins and overcomes each obstacle is something you’ll want to read about.
A very good addition to the series. I think the names are interesting...The titles don’t mean anything until you get through the books...they’re mostly magical artifacts...this one didn’t make sense until the very end. Please keep writing these! (And invent a way for Alexander to save his wife then save the world in a plausible way...)

I really love how inventive the story is. The twists and turns are very exciting, and the story is definitely not predictable! Ill be sad when I'm done with this series. I look forward to reading more from this author. I hope he expands on this universe.
Love the continuing story. Plenty of twists and turns for most ages of readers. Pretty explicit descriptions of violent fighting (they are in a war after all). A dash of romantic thrown in for the lovers of committed partnerships out there. Lots of action and some fantasy war strategy throughout this series.
The author cleverly balances the story on more than 1 thread, but keeps you gripped all the way through. At times you get frustrated with characters, but keep with the storylines till then end, going through various twists and turns. A very good read this series has turned out to be.
Overall very enjoyable. David introduces so many characters and plots, it gets challenging to remember them all. Thankful with my Amazon tablet I was able to quickly go back to different parts of the book to review the characters. The last volume is a bit of a whirlwind with everything that's going on.
Even though Phane is bad bad guy, I enjoy psychology behind his character and I love how Isabel is being defiant to him.... that's the main thing I got from this book and I pretty much raced through it as it was easy to read... Now off to the last book!
I have really enjoyed reading the first six books of this series. They're full of action and adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters and storyline are excellent. I really liked this book and series and I highly recommend it.
So far so good. However, I just finished the sample and it seems like things keep going from bad to worse to even more bad. How about a little comic relief once in a while.
Decent story… sometimes the transitions came at weird times. Overall kept me interested enough that I stayed with the book. Biggest challenge was reading it on my iPhone.
Definitely the best book of the series for me, contained more surprises and was less predictable than the rest! Don't skip this one, excited for the final book!
I have read all of the other books in this series. And I love them all. The characters and their lives and the interactions between each other make great reading!
