Talented photographer Paige Coleman has stayed away from her beloved seaside Connecticut village of Stonington ever since being mortified by ‘viral’ YouTube video that captured her in the buff at the top of a whaling ship at Mystic Seaport. Now, four years later, Paige decides that the time has come to face up to her past when her quirky, eighty-six year old grandmother throws the mother of all Thanksgivings to celebrate her recent marriage to ‘younger man’ Ed Fenwick. But with hometown god and former flame Stanley Fenwick, grandson of the groom, sure to be a part of every event, Paige must now protect her heart as well as retain her sanity, even as her cougar-turned-matchmaker grandmother uses every resource at her disposal to rekindle old fires of passion. As Thanksgiving dinner looms, Paige must realize that the sacrifice of a little dignity is worth the home and family she has missed so much.

H: Stanley h: Paige 😍 I thought it was Ryan and 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏼♀️ Story could be longer 🤔 No 🌶️ scenes 🧐 2nd chance when Paige finally goes home. Wasn’t too invested in Stanley-Paige’s love story
Paige Coleman has tried to stay away from her beloved seaside Connecticut village after being completely mortified by a YouTube video gone viral showing her in the nude at the top of a whaling ship at Mystic Seaport. But after four years away, Paige must face the town when her quirky, eighty-six year old grandmother throws the ultimate in Thanksgiving weekends to celebrate her recent marriage to a much younger man, Ed Fenwick. Paige’s longtime crush is none other than Stanley Fenwick, grandson of the groom, and Paige must not only retain her sanity, but also protect her heart. With her grandmother pushing Paige to rekindle her relation ship with Stanley and a dinnertime humiliation, Paige learns to realize that sacrificing a little dignity is worth coming home to the family she missed so much.
This is a cute novella with a wonderful family dynamic that is sure to please romance fans. The characters are true to life, with a grandmother who absolutely steals the show in each scene she’s in. Anyone who has come home back home for the holidays after a long time away will identify with Paige as she faces the town she’s run away from. Readers will love the small town feel of this seaside village, with all of the quirky characters that inhabit it, and the epic Thanksgiving dinner is not to be missed.
I wanted a light, happy Thanksgiving read for a sad, grim week and picked this one from a list of holiday books. It didn't work for me on several levels. My first major turn-off was the pejorative use of the word "retard" in Chapter 2. After that, well, it's a novella so one should expect less character development and a quicker resolution to plot crises. But ... I felt none of either. No plot arc to speak of and very little character development. I was far more interested in the teaser paragraph than in the story itself.
I liked the characters in this story. Everyone was full bodied and interesting. Just would've loved for this to be a full length story to see Paige and Stanley's story funds. It felt too short and seemed some of the chapters were cut short. However, it was still a funny and interesting read
I usually love the May McGoldrick books. And this isn't really a bad book, but it is short and really I think unfinished. I got to the end and thought, "What was the purpose of this book?" There should have been an epilogue or something. I mean, they spent years longing for each other and we didn't even get to view the rest of the Thanksgiving dinner!
