Dear Author, These two men are getting married this evening and are taking a last few quiet moments together. The man in the black T-shirt is remembering a day that almost ended their relationship. It started with some trouble with a thong and a fireman and the whole day just went downhill from there! Please tell us about this unbelievable day.
Photo Description: Two men are kissing and holding each other in a loving embrace in a bright room with hardwood floors and sunshine spilling through the window. It is a joyful and sweet scene.
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
J.H. Knight has been writing love stories since the second grade. When she’s not catering to the whims of her imaginary friends (whom she sometimes refers to as “characters”), she’s usually found in the kitchen setting dinner on fire or in the garden trying not to kill a rose bush. A Pacific Northwest native, she loves the outdoors in every season whether she’s in the city, the mountains, or watching the sunset from her back porch. The story sets on the preceding evening of Greg and Chris’ wedding day. They cuddle, talk, laugh, and recall a funny, slightly embarrassing, very unfortunate, still significant episode from their life, involving sparkly red nail polish, a matching thong, a fire accident, and an important revelation.
4+++ stars - I really enjoyed this sweet and humorous established couple story. The guys are different, but totally right for each other. And, seriously, any story that features a sparkly red thong and a cat who's a smartass is a win in my books. :D
Another great story from the LHNB picture prompts.
I like established couples, this story is short, it covers a short amount of time but because it's about a couple that has been together for years and we get little glimpses of those years, it feels complete. It's sweet and touching, and I loved the vows they give each other.
This was a lovely story - short and simple but filled with the kind of love you just know will last!
Greg and Chris have been together for many, many years and are getting married later that day. As they reminisce about their time together you get a sense of the type of men they are and the relationship they have.
Their love is obvious, as is the attraction they have to one another but there have been moments when everything hasn't been totally perfect. But like any good relationship they have overcome these hurdles and focused on what is important.
It also clear that they have a great rapport which is obvious in the dialogue and comments bounced back and forth between the men. It is only a short story but there are a couple of cute and funny lines. My favourite..."You're such a girl.""My erection begs to differ."
This was a very sweet read, giving readers a look at Chris and Greg's relationship on their wedding day, and the incident two years in the past which eventually lead to them getting married. It was a nice mix of fluff, humour, and just a tiny bit of drama to liven things up.
'So Hot With Love' is exactly the kind of story I've come to expect from J.H. Knight. It's a well-written contemporary romance, that focuses on how the main characters grow to become a closer and better-functioning couple. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see a fulfillment of the manties kink. Sparkly red thongs need to be fully appreciated.
Overall, an easy and quick short. It was a nice break from a heavier book I'm currently reading.
I'm writing out of pure emotion right now. I can't analyze the writing, I can only say this story made me melt, and it made me laugh, and I wish Chris and Greg really existed because they are such a great couple.
I am willing to admit that I may be a tiny bit biased as this is the story for my prompt but I love reading about established couples and this story was sweet and funny and exactly what I was looking for.
What a sweet story. I could totally picture these sitting there reminiscing on their wedding day. I'm not usually a fan of flashbacks, but this one worked really well. Nicely done and great job matching the prompt!
The thong incident was funny but even better was waking up with glitter polish. That's the kind of partner you want - one that you can laugh with. This was just so cute and tender.
I like how together these to are, how connected and in love they are after nine years civil of partnership and on the eve of their wedding.
The recollections show a life of shared humour, little pranks and sillyness. Kind of wish we could have been reading about the sparkly thong event as it happened rather than as a flashback, but it was very funny - wouldn't mind another appearance of the fireman ;) I kind of suspect a pic of that will turn up at an anniversary celebration somewhere down the line.
Wow, this was so sweet! It was lovely, and funny and hopeful and... Seriously. Great. I have a smile on my face right now because this was such a feel-good kind of story. I loved it and the characters and their relationship felt so pure and honest and something to really aim for. Just wow.

The story letter to the author reads:

Lovely glimpse into an established couple about to be married life. It's funny and affectionate with lots of cute details (the niece, the cat, and Tammy).
Maybe I could have enjoyed seeing Chris and Sam and the sparkly thong, but it isn't really a story for here.
Nice, warm story of love and affection. Chris and Greg spend a quiet day prior to their evening wedding reminiscing, with a particularly amusing lookback at an incident with nail polish, a thing, candles and a fireman! A quick well paced read that gave back ground as well as a future for our characters. It hasn't all been plain sailing but they are now at a good place to start the next phase.
Chris and Greg are getting married but first we take a short trip down memory lane. I love this author so I knew it was going to be sweet and probably a little sad; which I have to say, at point when Greg gets frustrated I actually cried lol for such a silly part, I teared up a bit because in relationships, things aren't always happy times and it was nice to see little ups and downs; if only just a couple. Even in such a short story though you could tell how much these guys loved each other; how great they were together, the silly jokes they played on each other and how they loved and laughed a lot. It was sweet and perfect for what I needed at 2 in the morning trying to get sleepy enough to sleep. I love ending on a good note like this. Really adorable read and the sweetest ending. Perfect.
This had me laughing and had a smile throughout the story, Chris and Greg have been together for 10 years and is about to get married. They sitting relaxed sharing kisses here and there. When one says-tell me the story of the proposal. There is an flashback find out who proposed and enjoy the funny moment it was hilarious.
LHNB Story released 28.6.13 3.5 stars rounded up Very sweet short story of an established couple on the day of their wedding as one of the remembers a particular event which helped them grow stronger. Really lovely fun wedding vows too :)
This was soooo sweet! I just adored the two of them, I loved all their banter back and forth, very funny and you can tell how connected they are with just the dialogue even. I love established couple stories, and really liked the humorous flashback to the fire hehe. Thanks for a cute, sweet story!
4,5* I'm sure this short wasn't perfect but still, I really loved it. The banter, the things this couple went through, the fun they had/have. It was a short story, nevertheless you got the impression you know these two. Really loved it.
