He's a billionaire... and a rake. Yes, I know it's not the 1800s. I'm just a bit obsessed with historical romance, that's all. And books in general, which is why I'm on my way to interview for my dream job at the library when Adrian Westmoreland's sheep-like hound knocks me over and into the mud. So I'm late, dirty, and completely flub my interview—only to get the offer of my life. To win custody of his baby daughter, Adrian Westmoreland wants to make me his fake wife.
I love writing humor (often the inappropriate kind), happy endings (both kinds), and characters quirky enough to be called oddballs (because... balls). If you love your romance heavy on the comedy and feel-good vibes, visit mishabell.com and sign up for my newsletter.
Jane and Adrian (and Leo) had me laughing out loud from their first meeting. Adrian's inner voices this author gives to her characters was hilarious! I'm going to have a hard time watching any scenes with Yoda in the future.
Despite the raucous humor that runs through this story, there were a few real issues that both Adrian and Jane had to work through in their own lives. With a nice little twist I never saw coming, I was thrilled how things worked out for each of them separately and together as a couple.
This is a fast read that I gobbled down in one afternoon. The chemistry is real, even if it did make me laugh, and the growing relationship was one I was cheering for. Everything by these authors leaves me smiling and content when I turn the last page. I highly recommend this if you like hard core romantic comedy.
This was a super cute story between a historical romance lover heroine seeking a librarian job to incorporate her love of historical romance into her job and daily life. And a very, rich and very, smart hero who all he wants is to have more time with his newborn and is willing to do anything to gain 50/50 custody of his daughter. He's a reformed rake, but he comes off so much more gentlemanly than rakish. These two fit so well together that you can't help but cheer them on and hope that their fake marriage will turn into more. So sweet!
Big disappointment. There was so much about this story that rubbed me the wrong way I don’t have the patience to list them. “Romcom” shouldn’t mean untethered to reality.
Love this couple, Jane and Adrian, because of their wit and banter and their unusual meeting and circumstances. Oh the way things line up and proceed had me chuckling and giggling. The references to historical novels and the bodice rippers of days past were swoon worthy and sometimes very hot. Misha Bell always creates these laugh out loud romantic comedies that entertain the reader. The antics of these characters and their pets is fun and entertaining and a pleasure to read. 💜💜
Not for me. It took me ages to finish this book. It wasn’t as funny as other Misha Bell books and overall this one just didn’t do it for me. The beginning was all right, single dad, fake dating/marriage of convenience. Love those tropes! But at the 50% mark we still didn’t meet the baby daughter and when she did make an appearance she was dumped in the hands of a third character. There could’ve been so much more emotions and growth involved. Near the end it was clear that things needed to be wrapped up. It was rushed, big differences weren’t that big anymore and it left me disappointed. Add too much sexual history of the hero and I just struggled myself to the end. Such a miss, which is a shame because Misha Bell is known for a funny romcom. Billionaire Rake just didn’t deliver.
Safety: Not safe for me. I just couldn’t get over the icky facts of this hero. He was a manwhore, but celibate since knowing he has a baby daughter. His baby momma tricked him and he doesn’t even like her. She causes drama, because she wants him back. Near the end she’s all of a sudden half naked in their house and he’s naked too but “it isn’t as it seems.” This was added for drama, she broke in the house for a final chance at seduction which failed. Nothing happened but still. Hero has his past lovers working for him and even has nude paintings of them in his studio. Once the heroine sees, he feels embarrassed. He removes all paintings and fires the women, but more out of custody motive than because of the heroine. We are told hero got around a lot. Then there’s a master speech of his friends at the wedding where he has a black book from his college time where he keeps notes of the likes and dislikes of women he dated. Although there’s no cheating and no sex scenes with OW, these things just grossed me out the entirety of the book. Heroine of course a virgin. 🙄 THEN…. the big reveal at the end and MAJOR SPOILER!!! The hero’s baby momma is in fact heroines half sister. They all didn’t know of their existence, but I just hate keeping it in the family either way. Double dipping whatsoever. Heroine is now the baby’s stepmom AND stepaunt. 🤮

15 % DNF. She talks like a Victorian virgin in her head and he pretends to talk as his dog out loud. The premise is RIDICULOUS - after one meeting he asks a complete stranger to marry him (not knowing whether she is a nut job or not) and she easily agrees. He is 27 yet knows and does everything from designing buildings to making sculptures, art and music, being CEO of God knows what - completely unrealistic. This was hit and miss for me.
Misha Bell specializes in over the top romantic comedy featuring the ridiculously wealthy and the hopelessly nerdy in tandem. Billionaire Rake is a true and fabulously authentic spawn of this brilliant pair.
Adrian Westfield is a lonely, reclusive genius who hopes a marriage of convenience will bolster his chances of retaining custody of his baby daughter. While out for a walk, Adrian and his massive fluffy dog, Leo, run into Jane Miller on her way to the job interview of her dreams. Adrian and Leo land the eccentric librarian in the mud, closing one door for her but opening another.
There’s what people do, which is often full of humour, and then there’s what people (and dogs) think, which in the case of Misha Bell is invariably hilarious! I loved Jane’s “Miss Miller” Victorian-styled quips and Leo’s sarcasm. Jane embodies a balance of nerdiness and vulnerability that makes me adore her. Adrian is surprisingly humble for a such a super smart billionaire. Keep your eyes peeled for some past character name dropping. This story is a must read for anyone who needs lots of irrepressible, belly chortling laughs!
Billionaire Rake was another “drop everything” beta read.
Misha Bell is a genius! The Author has a great gift with humor and creativeness flowing through this story. Billionaire Rake is a witty and romantically funny story that will capture your heart from the beginning.
I was NOT buying the whole I-just-met-you-and-think-you-would-make-the-perfect-wife. *sigh* it’s probably me but fake or not, I wish they would’ve been a bit more build up.
They bump into each other and the H (our billionaire) decides our h is the one he will marry in order to show the judge he’s no longer a manwhore and therefore share custody of his daughter. *sigh*
Since I couldn’t get into the story, I’m putting this one away with no rating.
The latest read from Misha Bell and I have come to expect over the top weirdness and humour, a good connection and plenty of fun - and she has succeeded yet again! Jane and Adrian are definitely a match that will go down on history!
I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review 3.5stars.
Misha Bell strikes again! This rom com is definitely one of my favorites. A rake with a cute dog and a heroine who wants to be a Librarian? Sign me up!.

Billionaire Rake A Fake Marriage Single Dad Romance By: Misha Bell, Anna Zaires, Dima Zales Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Lance Greenfield
Misha Bell is a master at quirky characters and spot on humor sure to make me laugh and fall in love. This book is so much fun and had me laughing out loud! Adrian's dog runs Jane over, and the result is an idea that could go so wrong! Adrian needs to get married to help with his custodial case for his daughter. In return, Jane will be set monetarily for life. Neither thought anything would ever come of it, when Jane seamlessly fits into his life and then asks him for something no one else has ever given her, all bets were off. Eventually. This close proximity, single dad romance is the best of all worlds. The comedy is hysterical, both Jane and Adrian are a bit awkward and the baby, who can resist her? And we cannot forget the dog! I was completely immersed in their fake romance and absolutely loved the outcome.
And making it even better is the narration team of Erin Mallon and Lance Greenfield. Mallon always brings her "A" game and she is so good at Bell's characters. Spot on comedic timing with a complete understanding of all the quirks Jane has, Mallon nails her personality. Greenfield comes in as the aloof billionaire, and easily turns him from distant to loving and complete mush when it comes to the baby. This team is spectacular and a pleasure to listen to.
Misha Bell presents a sophisticated tapestry of characters and plot, weaving together humor, romance, and a touch of drama.
The story revolves around the trope of a fake marriage but elevates it with deeply drawn characters like Adrian, a billionaire single dad, and Jane, a witty and spirited heroine. Their journey from accidental acquaintances to partners in a complicated charade is both hilarious and touching. The inclusion of a lovable dog and Jane's sassiness brings a unique flavor to the narrative, making it stand out among rom-coms. Bell's writing is sharp, filled with clever metaphors and comedic timing that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish.
The narrators of the audiobook, Erin Mallon and Lance Greenfield, deserve a special mention for their impeccable delivery, adding an extra layer of enjoyment. This book is a testament to Bell's ability to balance light-hearted fun with meaningful storytelling. This book is more than just a romantic comedy; it's a celebration of finding love in the most unexpected places
Billionaire Rake is a fun and heartfelt romantic comedy between Adrian, a single parent billionaire fighting for joint custody of Piper who is his baby daughter, and Jane, who is tackled by Adrian’s talking sheep-like dog while walking to her interview for her dream library.job. Once they meet Adrian decides Jane would make the perfect fake wife who will improve his player reputation and enhance his chances for joint custody, but will Jane’s Victorian era self talk advisor approve of his proposal? Their story has quirky but lovable characters, witty banter, hilarious self-talk advice and doggy ventriloquism, laugh out loud situations, surprises, and a heartfelt and steamy love story. I highly recommend this charming and delightful book which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Misha Bell has done it yet again with a great romantic comedy. Jane and Adrian are introduced by Leo, Adrian's dog, when Leo enthusiastically knocks Jane down in mud while she is waiting to go to her interview at her dream job, the local library.
After Jane's seemingly disastrous interview, Adrian insists on purchasing her a new outfit to replace the outfit Leo ruined.
Adrian decides Jane would be perfect for his plan to help him gain joint custody of his daughter, Piper. After some convincing on Adrian's part and some much needed funds are thrown into the mix, Jane agrees to a fake marriage to help Adrian.
Seeing this fake marriage evolve into more was great! The book was over much to soon for me!.

Good Story Erin Mallon- Female Narrator 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Lance Greenfield- Male Narrator - 🌟 wasn't very good, definitely brought the enjoyment down. He was very dramatic yet completely lacking heart. Almost mechanical. Precise. At the very end I think Narrators changed. I think it was Teddy 🧸. (Or maybe wishful thinking )
The importance of good Narrators cannot be overemphasized. They make or break a book)
I think it is a 3 🌟 Audiobook at best, but a 4 🌟 Paperback (I would guess). I likely would have Dnf'd it but for that I usually really like Misha Bell.
Hard Code is my favorite by far, this was a total miss for me due to Lance Greenfield's unemotional, precise narration.
Adrian West field is a man who will do anything to be part of his newborn daughter's life even if it means a fake marriage. Jane is a historical romance buff on a mission to secure her dream job. Through a funny chance encounter they enter a contract designed to help Adrian gain joint custody of his daughter. Although the laughs are not as strong as previous Misha Bell books there are some funny and tender moments that are great. In true Misha Bell fashion the angst and laughter come into play with a Jerry Sringer-ish twist that will make you shake your head and wonder. This was a fast and easy read and it stands apart from the authors other series but it was a solid read.

I'm sure there are people out there dumping on this but I am not one! These two are zany weird and just FUN. I love quirky characters. In real life, I am weird and dorky person. I love characters that are too. So the fact that she has an inner monolog that is a Victorian era prim and proper lady is hilarious and he speaks for his overgrown sheep looking dog in an absurd voice- is overwhelming entertaining. I couldn't help but smile at the absurdity and enjoy the ride.
Is it realistic? No. Did you really pick up a Misha Bell book looking for realism? Or a billionaire romance looking for realism? People need to get out of their heads and just enjoy the fun! Look no further than Billionaire Rake!
It's a hilarious story sprinkled with miscellaneous fun facts. The subject of arranged/fake marriage is well-worn but in this case, it's turned into a fast-paced and humorous tale. The only major snag in this story is very intentionally but completely incorrectly used IUD in this plot as a means of contraception applied to a woman who didn't have any sexual experiences before this installation. How a virgin can still be a virgin with an IUD placed in her uterus? Looks like the author has no idea about this subject even though it is mentioned deliberately in the text a few times. I recommend some research before writing a book for modern women. Saves us a lot of eye-rolls.
I hate writing this because I LOVE Misha Bell but this story was so far below their level of talent. Adrian is the typical billionaire with a heart of gold. Jane is a quirky woman who is so nice she’ll do anything for a handsome stranger. It was just EHH. Took me a few hours to read and I knew what the characters would say and do before I turned the page. Misha Bell is a brilliant story teller but this one seemed kind of lazy.

Misha Bell is back and bringing the fun with Jane, Adrian, and a lovable pooch named Leo. This storyline hits close to home with the modern-day references from movies to other witty turns of phrase that keep the pages turning and the laughter spewing, sometimes at inopportune moments. Overall, it is the bright spot in anyone’s day that can be read in one sitting. Prepare to fall for this quirky historical romance junky who meets her own billionaire as instant attraction makes two worlds collide.
The reviews are the reason I bought the book and the Audible. However it wasn’t LOL funny. It was cute but also a little annoying. The dog dialogue and the inner voice of Miss Miller kinda got old after a while. It did have a really good meet-cute which is 5 star for sure. It wasn’t awful but I did start to scan read about 60% through. However it was cute with maybe if I had just lasted a little longer on the Audible.. Anyway I loved the idea. Jane was a cute and Adrian was romantic and sweet. Maybe try it and see what you think? 4 or 5 stars. You decide.
It’s a cute story of a marriage of convenience. Jane is on her way to her dream job interview when she gets knocked out dragged in the mud by a sheep dog. Adrian is a desperate man looking for a wife and sees the perfect opportunity in Jane. Adrian made an offer she couldn’t refuse and you’re on a journey to how a marriage of convenience turns into love. Love the historical romance references throughout. Would recommend this quick funny read.

I’ve read all the books by the husband wife team of Misha Bell and this is my favorite. Like all the books they have a-quirky animal with a human voice. I particularly liked Janes historical subconscious monologues and parallels to historical fiction stories. Adrian was a fascinating character genius with many talents. The story actually had a realness about it. The entrapment, and custody struggles. So if you like regency historical novels this is a parallel.
From an accident with the owners dog, from there. She was going to be his fake wife to help get full custerdy of his daughter but things become different and the marriage becomes real for her and them he said that it was a mistake and things change because they hert her then to find out that the guy who she !married to was in there frountroom with his daughter mother with just her top off and him in a bath robe that looked just wrong to her.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁a bookworm
Really good writing. I was drawn to this book by the description and it didn't let me down. I'm not into the idea of historical romance so when the main character was a lover of it I was sure I was going to dislike it. The main charactors were funny while not being pretentious and it highlighted it doesnt natter if you dont know what you want to do just try and you will find it. It blew my mind the historical romance element is so well written and isn't to in your face. Excited to read more by these authors.

Trigger warning: the heroine proudly declares her height, weight, and BMI in the first chapter, and the weight is less than that BMI, and is in fact in the “underweight” BMI range.
For entirely new reasons, I DNF this.
The MC is thinking to herself that she should have paid more attention to the architecture (so she would, of course, know lots and lots about the topic, by reading one book not about the topic) when reading Rand’s The Fountainhead in HS, but she had been more interested in the romance.
Wow, what a fabulous read. I absolutely loved this book. Another funny rom com from the outstanding duo that Misha Bell is. Jane and Adrian’s meet cute is outside a library, where Jane dream job is, of course nothing is a plain sailing once she is smothered by Leo, Adrian’s dog. It’s funny, but also sweet, you will find a lot references to historical romance books, but also a lot of Yoda wisdom (when you know, you know!). I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so just dive in and enjoy!
