1.5 stars - I went up to be nice since I am usually pretty generous with my stars.

I generally give three stars or more for most things I find entertaining. Like I said I am generous (and easily entertained) but I have to say this one was a real letdown.

I fondly refer to my addiction to Maverick Brac and his pack of slutty shifters as being a guilty, and somewhat embarrassing, pleasure. I have read everyone one of this literary classics and I know what I am buying when I pay for these books but this one was missing something. I just didn't get the usual chemistry or love (insta-love) the way I usually do between the two men. It was actually kinda boring! I felt nothing for those two. I kept waiting for a spark or a twinge of something to keep me reading but nope. This entire book could have been written as a short novella to accompany this series and it would have been just as interesting.

I was thinking the whole coyote shifter was a great idea and it seemed like the "dance" could have been done so much better. There was a spark of fun but it fizzled out before it grew to any sort of fiery passion or interesting romance. It was a swing and a miss in my opinion.

Hope #4 is better! (please be better)

I liked this one, I forgot how fun the mating dance was :) I did want Reno's coyote to come out and play though. I mean, Baker never even saw him in his coyote form. What does he think?

It was nice. Nothing special, nothing too offensive. Which is in fact rarer than one would think.

Mind you, in the beginning this was not a fun book. Even if, as a saving grace, it at least acknowledged and addressed the fact that what Reno is doing is pretty horrible, even if he does not quite see it that way. For Baker this has got to be a pure nightmare. As such it did not strike me as sexy at all.
It started to work better for me once Reno mellows out a little. Considering all the fuss everyone made, he’s relatively tame. And that is never explained either.

Meanwhile Maverick plays his little game of back-and-forth. In one book it’s “OMG, mate abuse” and “OMG, death penalty for claiming without securing consent”, and then we have “yeah, that stranger will stalk you and take you and there is nothing to do since we can’t interfere with a mating”.
Ah, but who am I kidding. Maverick raped (and claimed, I think) his unconscious mate in book one and then conveniently forgot about that, so that he later could threaten pack members with death for actual mistakes, as opposed to, you know, non-consensual sex.

Okay, let’s move on.

There are some minor contradictions, such as Reno thinking that he has no family, not very long after he reminds himself to call his mother. Things like that irritate me but it could be worse.

A bit strange for Baker to be a lousy cook, given that he is, well, a baker. I get that there’s a difference but it should not be as huge of one to my way of thinking. Then again, what do I know about cooking or baking?

So yeah, this book? Nice enough for what it is. A flake of brain-fluff.

Delving deeper into the pit of the Kenyon Corporation. Seems like we get just a little bit more on them every time..

Here we end up with a crooked cop Reno and Baker.. ok read but there was a loss of flair in it.

This story is a continuation of the Brac Pack series. This about Baker Cross, a human who works at Sweet Delights bakery as a baker (I’m not kidding) and a coyote shifter named Reno Davis who just transferred to the local fire department. I loved this story from the first word to the last. Lynn Hagan has done a remarkable job of creating this town where shifters, vampires and humans live in relative harmony. This may be due largely to the fact that some of the human inhabitants are unaware of the existence of their paranormal neighbors.

This story didn't click with me. Although the mating dance was fun, the story feels like it's missing something but I can't put my finger on it. More action, maybe? I expected the rescue to have more pizazz than . I wish there was more info on what they did to Johnson(aside from Reno's speculations) and what they will do to Kenyon because they just faded out from the story. Seeing The Ultionem was really interesting though.

I enjoyed the mating of Baker and Reno. I just didn't like the coyote "mating dance" aspect of the story line. Reno wanted to waste time with stalking Baker instead of using the opportunity for getting to know each other. Plus, then it tends to slow the whole romance down a bit. Then a crooked cop causes havoc for them and the ultionem has to step in to save the day. It still had it's thrill factor and the sweet romances I like so much. Still an awesome read. :)

The further I read the less I'm sure about where I left of when I read this series the last time, which is weird considering that the closer I get to the end I should remember it better since less time has passed. Every time I think this is it, this is the last book I've read in the series, I start reading the next book and little snippets get more and more familiar, as was the case in this one.

I enjoyed this book. The mating dance reminded me of "mate hunts" in other shifter lore and I LOVE the mate hunt trope. I wish that it had gone a little further tbh. I liked how Reno and Baker seemed to grow together, there was instant attraction but not instant love and devotion.

I am probably not as intrigued as I should be by the whole Kenyon angle but I think that's b/c my primary focus in reading these is the romance/shifter angle. I'm not all that much of a fan of the "evil entity" out to expose/eradicate the paranormal trope that pops up in some shifter stories. It's just not my cup of tea but I'm going to keep reading b/c I'm addicted to these stories now and am anxious to see what happens with the characters.

Me costó muchísimo terminar éste libro.

Much better than the 2nd.

I was suprised he told his dad their secret, you'd think that he would have known it was to be kept secret. Though it did end up interesting with his father admiting many already suspect something different going on with some of the shifters.

This was certainly not one of Ms. Hagen's best books so far. I thought that the storyline was good, but it could have been so much better. So all in all a disappointment, however I will continue to read her books as she has shown herself to be an amazing author.

This one is really a 2.5 but I will round up. It wasn't as good as the previous ones. I didn't like the mating sequence in this one. But it is a good series so one not so good one in the bunch is ok.
