Fighting for Adalyn by Katie Reus
Redemption Harbor Security series #3. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone, but characters from the previous books help work on the case as secondary characters. Spin off from both Redemption Harbor and Red Stone Security.
Years ago, Adalyn trusted the wrong source and it cost the lives of her team. At the time, Rowan blamed Adalyn, but he’s since realized that was just emotional grief and not reality. Bun Adalyn still carries the burden of fault in her heart.
Adalyn gets a text threatening her family so she heads to New Orleans and Redemption Harbor Security has her back. The threats and violence continue and the team tracks down the responsible killer during Marci Gras week before they can destroy the whole city.

Fast moving action and suspense after the first victim hits too close to home for Adalyn. Rowan knows he needs to help Adalyn understand the past was not her fault and that he wants more from her than just being coworkers. And he’s willing to put his mouth on hers, over and over, to prove his interest. Advanced technology helps the team that sounded pretty cool. A mask that can’t be seen to the naked eye, but that seen on a camera will obscure the face.

Gripping, steamy, and a thrilling adventure.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the Redemption Security series. I have read the second book in this series before picking up this book. This book is full of suspense and action. I loved the connection the two main characters had, and I also enjoyed them fighting the connection. The storyline had me pulled into it, and I really enjoyed the ride this book took me on. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

I was expecting something more from this book. Rowan and Adalyn had chemistry and they were good together but the events from the previous book made it seem that things would be more explosive between them. The book was good, that's the truth but something was missing and I expected more grovel on Rowan's part since he made a mess and accused Adalyn of some horrible stuff. There is a side story going about two secondary characters and that seemed out of the blue especially since they didn't have a chapter or two from their point of view. I don't see a novella about them and it certainly makes things weirder. The balance between the romance and the suspense was good, as it's the usual with Katie Reus and I do look forward towards the next book.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book.

Adalyn has been trying to make amends for her big mistake for years. But suddenly, someone is out for revenge and the team at Redemption Harbor Security is in full force to prevent future tragedy. It's the perfect time for Rowan to let Adalyn know how he has forgiven her and how he wants her.

I enjoyed these characters very much! I'm so glad that I found this series. I will have to go back and read the first book at some point. I did like Fighting for Reese better, so I didn't rate this book as high. Katie Reus's writing is so easy to read and she always tells a good story. This is the third book of hers that I have read and I definitely have her on my list of go-to authors. Fighting for Adalyn is a fun, quick read and I think most people would love it.

Rowan and Adalyn❤️‍🩹

I love being back with the Redemption Harbor Crew❣️Adalyn and Rowan are working together again, but there are some unresolved issues there, that stem from their past. When a threat from Adalyn’s past involves her sister, she hightails it to New Orleans to be with her. Unfortunately, this isn’t the last of the threats towards those she cares about🥺

Another fabulous story and looking forward to the next book 📖 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review😍

An exciting read from the beginning. I haven't read the previous two books but the action stands alone. I'll go back to learn more about the characters eventually.
The connection between these two characters is strong but in great denial. Something went wrong in a mission and he wants to hate her, but she's busy hating herself. Back together in New Orleans Adalyn races to protect her sister after her friend in murdered. Someone wants Adalyn dead and is happy to take out her loved ones and childhood places. Is it obvious or a set up.
This story culminated into a whiz bang ending and I loved every moment.

second chance spy/military story

Adalyn is an Intelligence Operative for one of the ABC agencies when she makes an error and trusts an informant who gives her faulty info, resulting in the deaths of several Marines. Rowan lost most of his team in that incident and lashed out at Adalyn. Now, years later, when Adalyn’s sister is threatened, her new team, Redemption Harbor Security, comes to back her up, including Rowan, who works for a different branch of the same company.

This is a second chance, enemies to lovers, military romantic suspense story with a strong female heroine and a devoted alpha male who understands her strengths and weaknesses and helps to balance her. I enjoyed the story and was engaged throughout.

5 Star Review Fighting For Adalyn (Redemption Harbor Security #3) by Katie Reus

From chapter one Katie Reus had me engaged, I really didn’t want to put this one down as I found myself invested in what was happening to Adalyn and Rowan.

There were numerous twists and turns throughout and so much going on in the story that I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading.

If they can come to terms with the past then they have a chance at a future

Fighting For Adalyn was a well written, romantic suspense story that had me riveted from start to finish.

Adalyn made a lot of enemies during her time in the CIA. Now one of those enemies is after her, putting her sister in danger too. So she'll do what she has to in order to keep her sister safe, even if it means getting backup from the man who hates her.

Even when Rowan hated Adalyn, he loved her. Now is the time he and their team can come to her rescue, and prove to her he's over his anger at her and just wants to love her. She's fighting him though, wanting to keep him at a distance. But his real feelings mean he's going to fight FOR her even if she doesn't want him to.

Adalyn is the kind of heroine I love most - strong, fierce and independent, with a tender heart. Her partner could only be someone her equal in every way, which is what Rowan is. There isn't a lot of angst as he figures out his true feelings for her, then his own protective tendencies come out while they're after the person hunting Adalyn. Suspense, action, and a couple with delicious chemistry right from the first page - Fighting for Adalyn is a great romantic suspense story.

This story has intrigued me for a while now, since we began getting hints in Reese and Cash’s story, that Rowan and Adalyn had a history that was going to come back to bite them in the butt. Katie Reus is one of those authors that always manages to take reader’s through some of the darkest and most dangerous of backstories when she brings her couples together. As this series continues to expand and we meet more and more couples, learning more about characters that have intrigued us, we just continue to want more so I am looking forward to more in the series as more offices open for the Redemption Harbor group. Rowan and Adalyn were once friends and might have even been more, but then their world exploded with a mission that went terribly wrong, costing the lives of their friends and coworkers. After that tragedy, Rowan never stopped blaming Adalyn for the loss and began to hate her as much as he once thought he could love her. Adalyn once trusted Rowan as much as she trusted anyone, which truly wasn’t much, but she won’t trust him again after the way he reacted and treated her. Now a killer is after Adalyn through her family and friends and she has to depend on her Redemption Harbor team, even though she isn’t big on trusting others. The more time they are forced to work together, the crazier Rowan is making Adalyn and she is coming to count on him and her emotions are becoming undeniably wrapped up in him. The past finally catches up with Adalyn, forcing her to count on her friends in order to protect Rowan and both of them have to come to terms with their feelings for one another before they lose the chance forever.

There was no denying from the beginning that in order for Adalyn and Rowan to find their way to love, they both had overcome their anger and past mistakes. Adalyn has lived her life trying to protect her heart, keeping a wall up between herself and the world, and never letting anyone truly into her heart. She hasn’t ever felt the loneliness until recently as she watched the happiness of her friends as they found the loves of their lives and married, but now she wonders if she has made mistakes. But she never imagines that her future rests with a man like Rowan, one that more than once railed at her and broke her trust; while she trusts him to stand by her in work, she fights hard to protect her heart, but once she finally gives in to him, the love that blossoms for her is unbelievable. Rowan wanted Adalyn from the very beginning, but he had no idea how to handle her and then when he let his anger rule him, he made a huge mistake and he lost her. When they end up back together, working for the same company, his eyes are slowly opened to the truth of the woman that once captured his heart and he begins to forgive himself and her. Once he accepts the mistakes of his past, he sees a way to make Adalyn give them a chance and takes advantage at every turn. The heat and passion between Adalyn and Rowan is there in their every interaction, sometimes even more in their sparring than in their loving, but you can definitely tell that their relationship will never be boring. I loved every moment of this story and while I sort of guessed the villain, there was enough of a twist that it kept it interesting and I loved the ending. I am looking forward to more in the series, maybe even in a new setting with a new office branch (love how that gives the series unending possibilities), but whatever comes next I know will be tremendous. There is no doubt their story was filled with drama, angst, danger, and pain, but Fighting for Adalyn was an adventure worth every moment.

4.5stars- FIGHTING FOR ADALYN is the third instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult REDEMPTION HARBOR SECURITY romantic suspense series-a spin off from the author’s Redemption Harbor series. This is former CIA agent Adalyn Bonnevies, and former Marine Rowan. FIGHTING FOR ADALYN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including Rowan and Adalyn, FIGHTING FOR ADALYN follows in the aftermath of the murder of Adalyn’s sister’s roommate. Years earlier, CIA agent Adalyn Bonnevies was part of a team trying to shut down a drug smuggling ring in the Middle East but everything imploded, and the only other survivor blamed our heroine for everything that went wrong. Fast forward to present day, someone is targeting Adalyn Bonnevies, and former Marine Rowan has been called in to assist the team at Redemption Harbor Security but Adalyn wants nothing to do with the man who made it clear he hated the ground upon which she walked, and our heroine struggles to accept any help from Rowan himself. As the threats against Adalyn get more personal, Rowan declares himself guardian and protector of the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the search for a killer, and the fall-out as Rowan becomes collateral damage in a killer’s need to destroy our story line heroine.

The world building focuses on the past and the present, and the possibility that someone involved in the original op has targeted our story line heroine. As the killer targets everything and everyone from Adalyn’s past, our heroine battles between head and heart, falling for a man who once declared his hatred for Adalyn Bonnevies.

The relationship between Adalyn and Rowan is a friends to enemies to frenemies to lovers relationship in which Adalyn struggles to accept Rowan’s apologies, apologies in the face of the threats against our story line heroine. From corrupt politicians and a personal need for vengeance, Adalyn is targeted for sins of the past. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Several members of the original Redemption Harbor team return in secondary and supporting roles. We are introduced to Adalyn’s sister Fleur, as well as Redemption Harbor agent Tiago. There is something developing between Tiago and Fleur.

FIGHTING FOR ADALYN is a story of vengeance and madness, betrayal and obsession, family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and engaging; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic.

An enemy from her past is targeting those she loves.

Adalyn has just completed an op with her team at Redemption Harbor Security, and is looking forward to a shower and a good night’s sleep when she gets a call from her sister Fleur, an artist who still lives in New Orleans where they were raised. Fleur’s roommate was just killed outside their townhouse, and Fleur is devastated. Adalyn heads straight for her…and straight into danger. An anonymous text lets her know that Fleur was the intended target of the attack, and that whoever is behind it wants to punish Adalyn for something that she once did. Given Adalyn’s past career as an intelligence officer with the CIA, there are certainly many people who might want to extract payment from her, but they shouldn’t have been able to find her. The RHS crew arrive to keep her and Fleur safe and to help Adalyn track down whoever is behind the threats, including someone who until recently had himself blamed Adalyn for the deaths of his Marine team years earlier…Roman. As threats and attacks increase, and the attraction between Roman and Adalyn mounts as well, will the skilled operatives from RHS identify and neutralize the the danger to Adalyn and those in her life, or will more have to die?
This is the fourth in author Katie Reus’ Redemption Harbor Security series, which is itself a spinoff from her Redemption Harbor series, but it is not necessary to have read prior installments in order to enjoy this entry….it reads well as a standalone. With a take-charge, kickass heroine and the strong warrior who loves her, this is action-packed romantic suspense that will keep the reader turning the pages until the very end. Adalyn and Roman each have emotional baggage that has kept them apart for years, but Roman is done waiting. Each suffer from things they have done in the past, and regrets about choices made. They have recently started to work well as a team, and this mission is forcing them to deal with the those issues, with some help from their RHS “family”. Perfect for readers of Alexandra Ivy, Rebecca Zanetti and Susan Stoker, Fighting for Adalyn is a fast paced story with appealing characters for whose happy ending readers can’t help but root. Many thanks to NetGalley and KR Press LLC for allowing me early access to a copy of this latest installment in a great series.

This is book three in The Redemption Harbor Security series and it is Adalyn and Rowan’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Adalyn and Roman have history but everything went wrong when Roman thought Adalyn had betrayed him and his team but things were not what they seemed. Adalyn is a former CIA agent and now works for Redemption Harbor Security after she trusted the wrong person and got some innocent people killed so she was determined to get revenge and justice for the victims that died but now her past has come back and the enemy is closer than she thought and she realised that they were out to destroy everyone that she loved starting with her sister but with a mistaken identity they killed her sisters best friend who looked similar so now Adalyn needed to get her sister to a safe place and get help from the people that she trusted so that they can find the threat and eliminate it before it destroys everything. Roman is a veteran marine and after his team was killed on a mission he blamed Adalyn and said some unforgivable things to her and he never forgot what happened or get over it especially when he had survivors guilt and when he found out what really happened and Adalyn, her sister and many others were at risk from a enemy that they didn’t know he was determined to not only help but also see if he can put right what he did wrong because he never forgot her and hopes to eventually get her to give him a second chance as he wants a future with her after this mission is complete. Adalyn and Roman had a strong attraction and chemistry right from the start and even though she didn’t want to forgive him for what he had said she still couldn’t deny how she felt but the threat was closer than they all thought and it could take away everything that they want and deserve. Wow this book certainly takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions with everything that they had all gone through in their lives and all the people that they had lost. There are twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat while turning the pages in this action packed and addictive read and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series. Katie Reus is a amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her readers attention throughout while reading her books and they are definitely worth reading and you will not be disappointed.

In the previous book, it was suggested that Adalyn Bonnevies had a prior relationship with Rowen, that ended badly. Here it is revealed that she was the CIA liaison officer for his marine unit in Afghanistan. They had a bit of flirting go on, both wanting more, but not willing to risk it, until their last mission went south. Her contact had given her false info which turned out to be a trap for Rowen's men. He would have been killed too, if he hadn't been side-line by an injury. He blamed her and she blamed herself, and sanctioned the bearer of the bad intel. Both ended up state side and working for Redemption Harbor Security. Their boss Skye thinks they will make a good team, while Rowen comes to an epiphany that it wasn't Adalyn's fault she was lied to. He is also suffering from PTSD.

Immediately after coming off their last job, Adalyn gets a call from her younger sister Fleur, that her best friend had been brazenly murdered right in front of their home. A call to her cell reveals that the murderer thought it was Fleur and he was going to hurt everyone she cares about until he finds her. While Adalyn immediately prepares to take a leave of absence to save her sister, Skye sends an entire team to New Orleans as her back up. As they search for clues, Rowan sticks to Adalyn to protect her and his heart, which he realizes is meant for her. Clues show that someone wants revenge for the disaster of that last mission. But who is it and how many people will be hurt until he is found? A fast pace adventure thundering to a heart stomping conclusion.

Wonderful characters with endearing personalities, witty repartee and a page turning story make this a book you won't want to put down. Can't want for the next in the series, which I think is about Ezra. (I still think that the first book should have been titled Saving Ezra, since he was the one that had been kidnapped). But it could be about Tiago and Fleur. I read an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley.com. This is my honest, unbiased and voluntary review.

Adelyn and Rowan have known each other for a while. Even though they both work for Redemption Harbor Security now, they have managed to avoid each other until now. Adelyn wants nothing to do with Rowan but he is determined to convince her to give him a chance. Will she forgive him or will the past continue to keep them apart?
Adelyn used to work for the CIA. In her role as a CIA agent, she worked with Rowan overseas. After a horrible accident, they have a falling out. I like that the author made Adelyn strong and capable but still made her human enough to carry the pain of what happened overseas. I was afraid she would instantly forgive Rowan but the author chose to make them deal with what happened so that they could move forward. Rowan still carries the pain of what happened overseas but he has come to terms for the most part. His focus is on making things right with Adelyn. I thought the bad guy was good and the way the team tracks him down was well done. The message of the book is that sometimes the past comes back to bite you. This book has a little bit of a crossover with the Red Stone Security series.
My one major issue with this story is that I think it will be forgettable. In order to write my review, I had to review the book for details. I can’t explain why it’s forgettable since I think the characters are interesting and I like the bad guy. I think it might be there is no big moment where it’s a huge emotional moment or a big explosive action moment. This story is quiet as compared to the other books in the series.
This is a contemporary mystery set in New Orleans. This is part of a series. I recommend reading the series in order. This book sets up the possibility of a new series. Even though I didn’t love this book, I think it is well written and will appeal to a lot of people. It’s very easy to read and enjoyable. I will read more from this author in the future because I usually really love books from this author.

Fighting for Adalyn is Redemption Harbor Security Book #3 by the amazing Katie Reus who certainly knows how to write romantic suspense. She brought her “A” game with this 3rd book in this spin-off series of the Redemption Harbor Series with Rowan and Adalyn. As with all the other series, we get to revisit some of our favorite couples which is one of the reasons I so much enjoy reading this author’s work. I’m very fond of found families and everything I’ve read of hers (which is just about everything she’s written) has a foundation set on the found families these characters found themselves gathered up in. It’s the “always have your back” aspect, as well as the suspense and drama of these stories that pull me in. These characters go the extra mile for each other and really love on one another. This one had my heart in my throat more times than I can count! If you like nail-biting, edge of your seat action and adventure with really cool protective characters, both male and female, you’ll relish reading these books. Rowan and Adalyn brought quite a bit of baggage into their relationship but acted and reacted like mature adults – another facet I enjoy about Ms. Reus’ writing – no unnecessary immature angst. This story really moves so be ready to set aside some time because you’ll not want to put it down. All that said, it’s definitely a standalone but like all of her series, I would suggest reading them all because it makes the experience all that more enjoyable! Another 5+ star read. I’m grateful to have been given an opportunity to read an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.

Title: Fighting for Adalyn by Katie Reus

Release Date: May, 28th, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars

Adalyn faces the consequences of trusting the wrong person, leading to the deaths of innocent people. Despite achieving justice for her mistake, the past resurfaces as an enemy seeks revenge. Adalyn's sister becomes a target, and the enemy uses the chaos of Mardi Gras in New Orleans to carry out his plans.

Rowan, a former Marine who harbors resentment toward Adalyn, learns the truth about her actions and joins forces with her to stop the impending threat. Racing against time, they must unravel the enemy's identity and motives before he wreaks havoc on the city and puts their lives in danger.

Book 3 of this spinoff series is a rollicking good time, though it hits a speed bump in the middle. While it stands strong on its own, having read the previous books, especially book 2, enhances the enjoyment. Some of the tension feels a bit misplaced since the main characters have already resolved their conflict by the story's start.
However, Adalyn's competence and resilience shine brightly, and Rowan's admiration for her strengths adds depth to their dynamic. That said, readers might wish for a more fleshed-out storyline between the two protagonists. Nevertheless, the book offers an exhilarating and suspenseful ride, complete with unexpected twists and turns that will keep readers thoroughly entertained.

Thank you to The Publisher KR Press, LLC ,The Author Katie Reus & NetGalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.

This is book three already in this wonderful series by Katie Reus.

We've met Rowan and Adalyn in the previous book where their story is already a lit bit unfolded. Adalyn was a CIA operative working together with Rowan's team of Marines in Afghanistan. When she put her trust in the wrong person, the mission goes horribly wrong leading to the death of Rowan's men.

Fast forward a few years and Adalyn now works for RHS. When she gets a frantic call from her sister telling her about the murder of her friend and minutes later receives a picture of the body, Adalyn knows her past has come knocking on her door. She immediately joins her sister and goes on the hunt for the killer.

For this she has to work together with Rowan, also a part of RHS. They've more or less resolved their problems, but things are still a bit strained. However there's always been a simmering attraction between the two and being in close proximity of each other brings things to a head.

It's a race against time to capture the killer as he grows bolder with every attack.

As this is a spin off of the original Redemption Harbor series we get to see a lot of the characters from the previous books. Personally I think this story leans a bit more towards the suspense side, the problems between both MC's have more or less been hashed out even though Adalyn keeps pushing Rowan away.

Nevertheless, this was yet another great entry in this wonderful series and I can't wait to read Ezra's story.

*ARC kindly received from the author via Bookfunnel. This is my honest review.*

After finishing Fighting for Adalyn, I need to ask myself why have I never read Katie Reus before?! This romantic suspense story was fantastic! It is the third book in the Redemption Harbor Security series. I haven't read any of the others, yet had no issue jumping right in. Adalyn is a former CIA operative. She had bad intel in a past mission and that changed the trajectory of her work. She's working with Redemption Harbor Security and loving her job but still running from her past. When her sister's best friend is murdered, Adalyn returns home to New Orleans to comfort her and see what she can find out. Some of her teammates follow her and one of them is her biggest regret. Reese was stationed with Adalyn on that mission gone bad from her past. He regrets taking out his frustrations on her and has been trying to make amends but Adalyn won't have any of it. Now he's determined to help her out no matter how much she fights him on it. Things go from bad to worse for Adalyn and her teammates when a bombing takes place in a spot from Adalyn's past. Messages are being sent to her and it's up to her and the team to stop things before more people are hurt. This was a perfect romantic suspense story. It's told from dual POV and has all the action, intrigue, twists, turns and heat that you would want in a solid romantic suspense story. I will be running to check out the backlist of this series!

PS : to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

A third book as good as the previous ones !

After the glimpses we had of Adalyn and Rowan in the previous book, I was very excited to see how Rowan and Adalyn would move beyond their shared past ! And it was GREAT ! The setting of New Orleans was perfect, the romance was sexy and fun and the plot was twisted with an ending that I didn't see it coming ><

In short, a sexy and gripping suspense romance to devour without moderation !

PS: to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

First I would like to thank Author Collective 20 for proving me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Adalyn, former CIA security agent, who goes to New Orleans after her sister's roommate is murdered in front of their apartment. After arriving she gets an anonymous message taking credit for the murder and Adalyn calls her team for help and the first one to arrive is Rowan, former Marine security agent. As time goes on this anonymous person bombs Adalyn's old school and straps a bomb to her ex-boyfriend and the team is no closer to figuring out who is doing this. While Adalyn is putting all of the blame on herself Rowan is always there to support and protect her and be her mental and literal punching bag. While the team works to find the culprit they also have to avoid NOPD and Adalyn is fighting her growing feelings for Rowan.

What I Loved:
- Sisters, I love that Adalyn drops everything when her sister calls and wants to protect her at all costs even from her own teammates
- Rowan, he held some ill feelings toward Adalyn when she joined Redemption Harbor due to some history but after he came to terms with the past he does everything in his power to rebuild their relationship even if it means she craps on him constantly
- Redemption Harbor team, I love this series cause all of the members of the team bring something unique and fun to the mix and keeps the reader on their toes
- Twist, I did see the twist coming but it was still fun to see how it was finally revealed since I was not expecting how it all ended
- She saves him, normally in these books its the male character who saves the female but I loved that this was Adalyn saving Rowan cause that is just the type of person she is

Overall this was a great addition to the Redemption Harbor series and I'm so excited to see how the dynamic changes with having an office in New Orleans going forward. If you are looking for a romantic suspense with a enemies to lovers (on her part), touch her and die hero and a lot of fun characters to round out the story this is absolutely the book for you.

Adalyn carries a burden of misplaced survivor guilt. Her intel may have led to her teams death but she was not responsible - she trusted her source implicitly. That didn't stop Rowan, who until then had been her friend and possibly more, from blaming her. Now working for RHS, she's had to work with Rowan a few times now and he has come to terms with his grief and his misplaced hatred of Adalyn. But can she ever risk taking the leap with the handsome former Marine?

However, it looks like their joint past is back to haunt them and someone is using the cover of New Orleans Mardi Gras to strike terror into the heart of Adalyn!

Rowan is a great MMC. He has learned from past behaviour, recognises that he was the problem and is trying to redeem himself towards Adalyn. Adalyn is not such an easy nut to crack though. She has built a shell around her heart - it was the only way to survive with the CIA after all. But Rowan and his happy, optimistic outlook soon chip away at that shell.

There were plenty of twists and layers to the story. I loved meeting Fleur and Auntie Collette - she was a hoot. Adalyn is very much her own hero in this book - Rowan is clearly aware of her skills and wants to support her, not smother her. Brilliant banter between our grumpy CIA agent and her wannabe partner.

Be careful who you like as secondary characters in this story 'cos sadly not all of them survive.

I really enjoyed Fighting for Adalyn. Rowan and Adalyn were the couple I didn't know I needed.

I think this book is one of Katie's best. Adalyn is a strong and competent character. Her and Rowan have good chemistry and this book included tension and some well deserved groveling which is an element I really enjoy. Rowan was in awe of Adalyn's strength and was determined to crack through her exterior and he wanted to be the person she let take care of her. He learned from his past mistakes. Adalyn pushed him away and had her walls raised which made sense given their baggage but they both worked on their relationship and were able to be vulnerable with each other. I think there was a good balance between suspense and the romance aspect as well. I will probably go back and reread some of their parts in Fighting for Reese.

This can be read as a standalone without issues, but I would recommend the whole series for maximum enjoyment. I love how Katie brings in past characters and how readers get to catch up with them. That and the found family aspect make this series really special. Every book with Skye is already off to a great start for me. Everything about this book coupled with the setting of New Orleans made it a great read for me.

This is the third in the Redemption Harbor Security series. This book has suspense, action, romance and some great characters. Reus had me engage right from the beginning and I also enjoy the recurring characters that I can catch up on as I read each book in the series. There were plenty of twists and turns in this story that kept you guessing until the end if they would find the person threatening Adalyn. Adalyn and Rowan have a history from when Rowan was in the marines and a job went wrong because Adalyn trusted someone she shouldn’t have. Rowan didn’t forgive Adalyn right away but now they work for the same company. After just finishing an assignment Adalyn gets a call from her sister telling her that her best friend was murdered. Adalyn flies down to New Orleans to comfort her sister but ends up receiving a text that the killer was stalking Adalyn. Adalyn boss sends down a team to help Adalyn and to put her sister into a safe house. This is when the adventure begins, and the romance starts with Rowan and Adalyn. I highly recommend this book and especially the series. Thank you to Netgalley and KR Press, LLC for providing an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Fighting for Adalyn is the third book of Katie Reus’s all-new Redemption Harbor Security series, and as a fan of the original Redemption Harbor tales, I’m one hundred percent here for them all. This stand-alone title in an interconnected series is full of action, romance, and a mystery that wraps a story of friends who are more than just coworkers in this entertaining and engaging bow. While this is absolutely a standalone title, I can’t recommend the previous books enough. Plus, reading them helps you figure out who’s who among the secondary characters.

As a long-time fan of this author, I can honestly say I’ve yet to find a book of hers I didn’t like or love. I’ve read most of her backlist, so that’s saying a lot. She’s a go-to of mine when I’m ready to devour a terrific romantic suspense. And devour this one, I did. It hooked me from page one, leaving me loathing when I had to put it down at any given point until I finished the conclusion, yet it left me wanting more. More mystery. More suspense. More everything! The characters are believable, engaging, diverse, and easily likable. The mystery was well-plotted, keeping me guessing until the story arc. And the setup for the next book has me anxious for what comes next in the series.

When the past catches up with Adalyn it’s a race to find the person behind the danger. Of course she has a team that shows up to help without even being asked, but the one person she doesn’t expect to care, actually cares the most. Rowan and Adalyn have a complicated history that they believed ended when tragedy struck, but since working together again, facts have come to light and it’s changed things for Rowan. He never forgot Adalyn, and knowing that what he thought she did after losing his team, wasn’t at all reality, has made it difficult to continue to compartmentalize his feelings for her. He is a strong and dependable man who has a huge soft spot for her and he isn’t going to hide how he feels anymore. Adalyn is used to being in charge, keeping to herself and throwing herself into her job, but when the new job is personal, and she, as well as those she loves most, are in danger she knows she has to work with her team to figure out who is behind it all. Fans are going to get sucked into this story as they follow the clues and events going on in New Orleans, while Adalyn, Rowan and the rest of their teammates hurry to find who is trying to get revenge on Adalyn, and isn’t afraid to take out anyone around them.

Finally, we get Adalyn and Rowan to work out their issues with each other. Fighting for Adalyn, the 3rd book in the Redemption Harbor Security System (though can be read as a standalone), brings us to New Orleans to where danger seems to be around every corner. Katie Reus writes romantic suspense characters better than anyone and Rowan and Adalyn are some of the best yet. The two have a history from a failed overseas mission when Adalyn worked for an alphabet agency and Rowan was in the military. Adalyn trusted the wrong person and they all suffered great loss because of it. Fast forward to them working adjacent to each other and while Rowan forgave Adalyn she can't seem to forgive herself. The past comes back to haunt them both as a mysterious person starts a dangerous spree tied to Adalyn.

I loved the chemistry, passion and humor they showed one another. The cast of characters around them, kept me laughing amidst the horrors being unleashed, especially Gumbo, the little rescue dog that falls in love with Adalyn. A great adventure that gets it's steaminess not only from the humidity of the City where it takes place, but the smoking hot passion between the pair. I hope this series never ends!

Years ago operative Adelyn trusted the wrong person and good men died. In the aftermath, feeling the loss of his men, Rowan blamed Adelyn for their deaths. Over time Rowan came to see Adelyn was not at fault; it was a tragic mistake. When the past comes back to haunt Adelyn, threatening her and those she holds dear, Rowan plans to be right by her side. He'll fight right by her side, but more importantly he'll protect her with his life. Because, though she's not ready to accept it yet, she belongs to him.

This high speed, suspenseful story is just what readers have come to expect from Katie Reus. Though Adelyn tries to ignore it, the chemistry between her and Rowan is hot. Rowan tries hard to couch his protective side, but Adelyn comes to accept the safety she feels when she's with him. As always, I enjoy the appearances of previous characters. The comradery they bring ups the tension, because the danger, the anger, the uneasiness the main characters experience as their friends are invested in feel it too.

This is another terrific installment in the Redemption Harbor Security series. While it can be read as a stand alone, reading the previous stories provides an introduction to the characters and a more thorough background of how they all have come together.

As a CIA operative working with the military, Adalyn became friends with Rowan and his team of marines. After a bad bit of intel gets them killed, Rowan blames her and she's lived with his hatred and her own guilt and grief ever since. She risked everything to get revenge on her source. Now she's working for Redemption Harbor Security too, although in a different division than Rowan. But when everything she loves is threatened by an unknown bomber, Rowan drops everything to help her, claiming that it was his grief that made him blame her. But how can she trust his feelings have changed when she can't even forgive herself?
You could just feel the tension between these two in the last book, so I knew they would get their own story. Rowan did a complete emotional turnaround and became so patient and protective of her. I was laughing at their childish and petty bickering in Fighting for Reese, but Rowan really changed. I also liked the mystery party of the story with some of the characters of previous books helping solve the case and save New Orleans from a madman. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
