Alexander Knight: An ex-Special Forces agent called to undertake one final dangerous mission...
Cara Prescott: The beautiful, spirited young woman Alex has been hired to protect.
Alex's only choice is to kidnap her and hide her on his private exotic island, where holding her captive leads to hot and steamy days, and intense, passionate nights. But can Alex keep Cara from harm, when he has no idea how dangerous the truth really is?
I've been a writer, one way or another, all my life. Before I could read, I made up poems and my mom wrote them down for me. In elementary school, my teachers almost always let me write poems or stories instead of requiring me to do art projects. Always, I dreamed of becoming a published writer...and that dream came true! I write novels about sexy, powerful men and independent-minded women, and what happens when they find each other and fall in love. My books are sexy and romantic, and they've very often full of romantic suspense. I write the kinds of books I love to read, and I hope that makes my readers happy.
This book was almost a wallbanger at certain parts. The hero and heroine were acting way too hormonal for me. They had some serious imbalances in their brain chemistry causing them to act like idiots. But then it would settle down and I'd like it again.
Alex is a jerk. He's very macho and tough, and judgmental. He has decided that Cara is a skanky ho because he believes she is the ex-mistress of a crime lord. Even though he says he doesn't have an issue with a woman being sexually experienced. Whatever dude. This from the guy who picks up women in bars for sex. I thought he treated Cara pretty bad for too much of the book, although he's caring in other parts. This is part of the hormonal imbalance issue.
Cara is typical for Sandra Marton. She's way too soft with the hero. She lets him get away with too much crap. She gets snarky a few times, but most of the time, he can kiss her into submission. That really gets on my nerves when the hero can kiss the heroine and she turns into a pile of jello. Sometimes it's okay, but it's overused, especially by this author.
Don't get me wrong. I really enjoy Sandra Marton's books. But I think she has borderline uber-alphas in some of her books. Uber-alpha means bad alpha to me. Not the tough, possessive loving type of hero. But the testosterone toxicity hero. Alex definitely falls into this category. He really didn't use his brain as much as he should have. I figured out pretty early just what Cara's connection was to the crime lord. I don't mean to stereotype, but it was fairly obvious that Cara wasn't mistress-material. All he could see was how hot she was, and that made her skanky, crimelord guy's ho in his mind.
I was disappointed with the adventure plot. It could have been a little better executed. He did some covert spy stuff, but mainly it consisted of breaking into Cara's apartment, accosting her in the shower, and sexually intimidating her. And then at the end, he and his two brothers break into the crime lord guy's mansion to get 'closure' with Cara. The Desert Virgin (the 1st book in this series that I read) had much better action. This one really wrapped up way to easily and it was very anti-climactic.
I have to say this is probably my least favorite Sandra Marton book although some parts were okay. I am keeping it because it's part of a series with The Desert Virgin, and I hate to break up a series in my collection.
I found Alex Knight a bit too "uber-male" and really disliked the way he treated the heroine.
I wish she would have given him a bit of a hard time..okay, he's gorgeous and sexy but if a man had to "man-handle" me the way he did Cara...I would have given him a shove up his "ass".
And Alex is an expert in spy games and he never guessed Cara's connection to the Mob until the very end!!!!!!! Pleeezzzz...I found that a bit hard to believe.
This story lacked the excitement, danger and hotness in the first two books...but that's just me.
Anyway, I liked that all 3 Knight guys have found their happiness and resolved all their family issues and all live happily ever after. And of course anyone who has read the first two books has to read the finale...pity it was not the great one I was so expecting.
This book was in a box of other books that I'd bought, so it kind of came along for the ride. I really wish that same box had held the first two of the books about the Knight Brothers because that might have helped a little bit. Even so...this is not my favorite book, for so many reasons.
We open with what feels like a rape about to happen. And things kind of go downhill from there. Given the popularity of the whole BDSM ideal for awhile, I'm not surprised to see some hints of that in what would be considered a fairly steamy storyline. My issues come in with consent, a good dose of what could be determined to be Stockholm Syndrome, and some things that just skate a very fine line between what's right and wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I do like the chemistry of the characters. But our hero is a little bit too caveman in his techniques in protecting a damsel in distress, and our damsel...well, I really wanted her to be a much stronger woman to make for a better foil for him.
So I'll give two stars here because the premise was sound and the characters did have that aforementioned chemistry. But I'm deducting points for him being a jerk. Frequently. And very rarely treating the woman in his care with any modicum of respect.

hey yarabbim zaten hepi topu kaç sayfaki bunlar..yarısından fazlasında yataktalar diğer yarısında da kaçıyor ve tartışıyorlar..cıks olmamış Sandra ablam ya..hani bilmesem seni bi daha okumazdım kitaplarını..
Read this as a joke with my friends, and it’s really fitting cause that book is a joke in itself. No real plot, a basic male protagonist full of toxic masculinity, a female protagonist with potential that is not fully executed to fit the misogynistic pattern of the romance…
Can’t ignore the SA scenes that are thrown in every chapter? What even is the purpose of this, I don’t see how this is attractive when the woman very clearly says no to him🤡
È partito male ed è proseguito peggio. Ma davvero un agente di un’agenzia governativa non trova sistema migliore per zittire un testimone che baciarla ogni volta che lei protesta? Non è un romanzo rosa: è un romanzo comico. Ciao Sandra.
