Billionaires in Heat #2

The Omega Lesson

Rate this book
Alphas are taught to take what they want.

Or at least that’s the motto of the elite alpha academy where I work. My probation is around the corner and the headmaster has already warned me I don’t fit in. But I don’t plan to go down without a fight. I need this job, especially if I want to prove to my family that I’m more than just my past mistakes.

Falling for my student is a dangerous complication. But Mattie is a burst of sunshine in my dreary life. He’s gorgeous, devoted, and he wants me. Just one smile from my beautiful beta and I want to be the best alpha I can be.

Until his older brother catches us in the act and I’m triggered into a switch. My hidden omega nature takes over, hungry for the pack I never had.

Which is how I end up spending a mind-blowing heat with Mattie’s brother and his friends. They’re the rich and powerful Lyalls, and from the outside it looks like they have the world at their feet. But they’re struggling with their own past mistakes, and I have enough on my plate trying to work out how to be an omega.

But as things at the academy spiral downhill, I find myself drawn to this group of mismatched men. Each of them is unique, opening me up to new experiences, and speaking to a different part of my soul.

We want each other. We need each other. But learning how to be a pack is going to be the hardest lesson of our lives.

*********************************************************************************

This is the second steamy book in the Billionaires in Heat series but can be read as a standalone. It includes all the omegaverse delights of pack bonds, bites, messy heats, alpha knots, and locks. There are NO shifters in this story, but there are tropes of a single mum/protective pack, and a teacher/student relationship. Check the TWs in the Author's Note.

While "The Omega Merger" was a great read, author Roxy Collins has outdone herself with "The Omega Lesson," second in the "Billionaires in Heat" series. There is a wonderful story here with unique characters, engaging backstories, witty dialog, and a strong alpha female main character with 5 men who want to have her as pack.

It turns out that Finn Visser, the sinister recluse who made his debut in book 1, has reason to be interested in Lexi. That is, as a participant in a study about alphas and betas who can switch designation to omega. Lexi isn't the only switch, however, and that makes this story even more interesting.

As with the first book, the sex scenes are written so well that movements and words flow naturally. It's difficult to keep track of this many men, especially when 3 are brothers from one family and 2 from another but the scenes manage not to include any sex between blood brothers. There are MM scenes as well as every variation of 1 female with up to 5 partners at any one time. The heat level is smoking hot and it bears repeating that the writing is excellent.

I highly recommend this book as well as the previous book in the series if you enjoy omegaverse RH stories. There are a number of possible triggers listed in the author's note at the beginning of the book. It's a fun read that has a HEA and no cliffhanger, and it can be read without having read the first book. Reading the prior book will give you some insight as to some of the characters appearing in this story.

Enjoy!

DNF @35% p126/362 Chapter 13(?) (Lexi)
Apparently, 2 of this series in a row is my limit.
🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m bored. It’s just a tinge too similar in plot points to the others right now. And I’m not attached to any of the characters so I’ve lost interest.

The book was OK.
It didnt have much of a plot, it is two days later and I cant remember anything about plot so theres that. It had a bunch of spicy scenes, a few too many so I would zone out/skim while reading them after a while. RH means you probably have one or more guys you dont like. It had one for me...Mattie. I love a good golden retriever but as much as mattie tried, he just seemed way too young. The one I loved: Noah, he was funny and chill af.

Things I liked:
~I loved a few of the characters
~lots of smexy scenes - some of them were def hot
~most of the guys seemed to worship lexie from the start.
~Noah.

Things I disliked:
~most of the guys seemed to worship lexie from the first meeting (yes i know i have this in both places, it belongs in both places),
~not much of plot - just a lot of scenes (feels repetative after a while)
~I was bored during most of the middle of the book.
~the way the MM relationships were, I didnt realized I am not a fan of fem guys until this book.

Ok so I really enjoyed this, loved that she was alpha and switched into omega, but knot how the story started. Wtf is she doing starting a relationship with a student, that shit is illegal af man, was half inclined to agree with her dickhead ex about how her kid shouldn’t be exposed to that stuff. Such an abuse of power. Student x teacher should never be romanticised. Once I got over that though it was good.

This was more of a blend between alpha and omega traits than an actual switch. Bit of a rage read with the ex and his omega. Couldn't stand them, or the father and brother for not seeing and not caring. The whole keeping Bree from her as well really pissed me off. Disappointed they got off so lightly. As for the headmaster and that scumbag with his discipline, I hope they're running for a long time.

Unsure about the teacher/student romance, not really my thing, but I did like how protective they were of each other. Team trouble all the way with Noah and Mattie, Travis took a while and Ben was just caught up with work. The tennis match was cool and I liked how Travis fixed his mistake. Jackson felt all in from the start, but waiting for Ben. It was a little weird for me with most of the pack being related. Another pop up from Finn Viser, making everyone panic. Would've liked more pack and Bree time, the hospital meeting was adorable.

"The Omega Lesson" is worth six stars, with how it swept me off my feet from the start. I can try to explain the greatness by talking about the tropes and the character building, but there is no way I can truly put into words what this book did to me. My house is a mess, I didn't do a single thing on my chore list, I forgot to prepare food and a car could have probably driven into my house without me noticing. That's how engrossed I was in this book...

For those who do like to know the tropes in a book before starting: We have omegaverse (of course), reverse harem, MM within the harem, a taboo relationship between a teacher (the fmc) and her student, a second chance trope, a single mom trope and some side characters who deserve a punch in the nuts. But we also get a protective harem, a very interesting twist on the abo designations and so... much... spice. And I have to say: it's the best kind of spice; the kind that adds to the storyline and even enhances the plot development.

So yeah: I truly loved this book, and wish I could give it a six star rating. I swear, this author just keeps on getting better with every book I read and I can't wait to see what she will write for us next.

Saw the author had the arc out and immediately went to get it. It was everything I needed today. I dare say even better than the previous one in the series. Omegaverse, teacher/student, second chance, single mother, switch, strong alpha female, 5 hot males, spice, drama, family issues. I had so much fun reading this.

Didn't like this as much as Book 1. I didn't feel like the connection between all the 'pack' was explored enough to seem real. It just seemed like any characters mentioned in the first book were thrown together to have a happy ending. This didn't work as there was a clear connection between some characters in the pack more than others. I honestly think that this pack could've done without so many members and let them have another story of their own.

I loved all of the relationships and how you could tell that Lexie had a different bond with each of the guys. I also ADORED Bree, she was so sweet and even though we barely got to see her, we really got to see her personality. Richard and Anton pissed me off, I would have gone to court after being refused to get custody of Bree on my designated weekends. That’s something I didn’t like, that Lexie didn’t fight more for Bree, she just kind on rolled over when it came to this. There were so many opportunities she could have said SOMETHING or fought Richard about the custody arrangement. Technically he was breaking it by withholding Bree from her mother when it was her weekend. I wish that the backstory for the whole custody situation had been more clear because the whole book I was wondering what reason the judge gave for Lexie to need all of these stipulations and what happened in that court hearing.

The Omega Lesson is the second standalone in Roxy Collins' Billionaires in Heat series and it was fabulous. I've only read one MF paranormal romance by Roxy before but loved it and considering how much I love RH omegaverse I knew I had to give this a try.

Lexi Novak must be a Saint. She puts up with the toxic culture at an all-boys boarding school, has a brother and father who couldn't be less supportive if they tried, and an ex who is a of crap on so many levels. She puts up with all of it because she's such a good mother. Lexi's daughter Bree is adorable and it was touching to see them together. Lexi is tougher than she looks putting up all the crap that she does but I love that she was able to have her vulnerable moments with the guys.

The Lyalls and the Cliffs were a hot mess before Lexi came along. They had all been friends for a long time and wanted to form an official pack but things got in the way and they're not as connected as they should be. Ben Cliff is the most stable of them all he just works too much but he surprised me with how caring he could be. Matthew "Mattie" Cliff is young but knows what he wants and after everything he's been through he deserves a pack to care for him. Noah Lyall, I'd hot and crazy but so loving, my favorite thing about him is that he stalks his mates. Jack Lyall is the whole package and adorably sweet even after what was done to him as a kid. Then there's Travis Lyall, who is the product of his father's attention and a complete mess because of it. However messed up they are, they love Lexi. The care and support they showed her warmed my heart.

I must admit I was a little nervous about giving The Omega Lesson a try, there were a few things in this book that are out of my normal reading. I've only read one Billionaires book I generally stay away from them, I've never read a reverse age gap (the female is older), and I've only read one book with a single mother, plus every omegaverse is different but I'm so pleased that I gave Lexi and her guys ago.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was something I haven't come across until now. Switches are brand new to me, the idea that someone can be predominantly one thing but have triggers where they can turn into something completely different is intriguing and I liked the way Roxy presented it. Along with the fact that Lexi is a female alpha (another aspect I'm not used to) switches made the story more compelling.

The Omega Lesson was a delight to read. I loved getting to know Lexi and her guys and seeing them demolish their haters and get the HEA they deserved was perfect. I'm sad to see them go, I would love a little novella of them set in the future. After reading this, I looking forward to seeing what other omegaverse stories Roxy comes up with.

“No. I think you want me to know I’m a bad girl.”
“You’re not a bad girl,” he tells me, the crop now drawing circles on my mound. “But you did a very bad thing.”
Holy crap. I thought I liked to be praised, but maybe getting scolded by an angry dressage teacher is my kink.

Holy Hotness, Batman! The steam in this second book from the Billionaires in Heat Series was off the charts. I’m talking about multiple back-to-back chapters of delicious smut. Pre-heat urges, heats, and dirty talk that will melt your panties. Plus, it has a great storyline that will pull you in. There is some angst (stupid Alpha making bad decisions), but it leads to a very HEA.

I was a massive fan of the designation switching in The Omega Merger. This story takes it and runs with a female Alpha who switches to an Omega and a male Omega who switches to an Alpha. I love how these characters learn to find a sense of self once they are thrown into a grey designation area. Every preconceived notion of who they were and how they were meant to act (plus career choices) is changed.

The romance is fast burn. This is a poly romance, with many of the males forming MM relationships within the pack. There are MF, MM, and combinations of MMF+ scenes throughout.

This book may be read as a standalone, but some characters from the previous book make an appearance (or are mentioned). Personally, I would read the books in release order for the best experience.

Genre: Contemporary Omegaverse Romance
Tropes/Features: Unique ABO dynamics – designation switching, billionaire pack, two sets of brothers, female Alpha/Omega switch, male Omega/Alpha switch, one sexy Beta MMC, Alpha MMCs, student/teacher, single mother, second chance, female alpha lock, first-time heat
Narrator: Mulitple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why Choose - Poly MMMFM +, fast burn, INTENSE heat 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Book Type/Ending: Standalone in Billionaires in Heat Series, HEA
TW/CW: Available in book

Stoooooppp.

This was so darn cute. I was in the mood for a certain kind of read but I wasn’t expecting to end up a melted squealing mess by the end!

The sexy bits are top notch. I’d come to the decision after my last few why choose books that they’re not for me but this one got me. I think it’s because there were relationships between all of the members of the group, not just five guys competing for one person. And Travis hit the spot I crave with his ‘she’s the only one for me’ line. I think it also has to do with the genre. I crave possessive men and even while they were sharing, it was very clear that they’d stop at nothing to keep her to themselves. That no one was safe if they did anything to her. I waited the entire book for someone to talk back to her family and I was not disappointed. Travis went from a solid two to a one hundred real quick.

These boys are all physically attractive as hell but the personalities just push them over. Noah is my absolute favorite. But I wouldn’t complain about any of them. I think my toes curled when Travis admitted how much he wanted her even back then. Ugh! I also love how every one of the boys went all in with Bree. There was no second guessing; not even any hesitation that she was from another alpha. She was their’s and that was it.

I’ve not read the first one but I might have to find it, though it seems this one was better than the first, based off reviews. I believe it. I don’t think I’ve smiled so hard reading a smutty book in a long time. I’m also interested to see how book 3 will go with this shifter testing. Finn is an interesting, if not slightly terrifying, character that I’d like to see more of. I would also do anything, ANYTHING, to see these guys with a pregnant Lexi.

Thank you to Roxy Collins, as well as BookSirens, for the opportunity to read this eARC for a completely free and honest review. Now I just need in invite to join this 6some cause DAMN.

Whew talk about hot for teacher!

This book starts off spicy right from the get go. I’m loving how their pack dynamic is slowly building and they’re all pretty into her as soon as they meet her. Except that one dude, he wants her but he’s so damn stuck in his own head with his demons he can’t see the best thing that will happen to him.

I love the concept of a switch and I love how they have to figure out their lives and feelings very quickly. The best part about this is its low angst within the harem. All the trouble is mostly from outside sources.

This book was a delicious mess of feelings and I really loved it. It got me out of my book slump! I highly recommend this book and any other by Roxy Collins she works some sort of magic when writing her books and I’m so here for it.

Id read and liked the first book (The Omega Merger) so I was looking forward to more books in this series.

Teacher Lexi (FMC) has had a difficult life. What with a troublesome Ex-Husband with has sole custody of their daughter, family members and a job with a shady sexist boss and an abusive teacher. The one redeeming feature being one of her students - Mattie. Who had a genuine sweet dynamic with Lexi. That in turn brought Ben, Jack, Noah & Travis into her life. Some of which she had a backstory with. Bring with them plenty of steamy scenarios. I loved their relationship. Sad and funny in places but also endearing too. A great read.

This was such a page turner. This is my first time reading about a switch in an omegaverse setting, and was done perfectly. There is very low angst and no OW drama. You just get to enjoy the love from all the characters and there is much love to go around.

This a whychoose sweet omegaverse, where the leading lady does not have to choose between her men. There is m/m. Please check TW at the beginning of the book.

The Omega Lesson: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse by Roxy Collins
(Billionaires in Heat Book 2)
Lexi is a teacher and a single mom that her ex is raising. One of her students, Mattie is in love with Lexa. They are only about 3 years different. Lexi is a alpha and Mattie is a beta. Mattie's brother Ben walks in on them when they were in the closet. She becomes a switch and turns into an omega. There are so many twists and turns in this story. I lo.ve this story. It is so hard to put down, I recommend this book. It is a very hot story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3.5⭐

This one was much better than The Omega Merger, the first book in the series. I mean, there was still plenty of insta-love going around, but there was enough emotional conflict to offset the mushiness.

Great fun read. Lots of great characters that you really get to know.

Strong relationships and great character development. Very sexy with fun taboos and lots of sexual tension as they fall for each other and commit. Love the designation bending of the switch concept.

I also enjoyed the author’s Insta feed which shows images of the whole crew.

Growly Alphas, sweet Betas and, of course, Omega! This book has everything we love in an omegaverse but with an extra twist. And no, I’m not telling. You will just have to read it for yourself. You will find teacher/student, brother’s best friend and age gap so what more could you ask for? Lexi and her guys steam up the pages as they navigate their way towards becoming the Pack they all deserve.

I’m really loving this series! I love the idea of triggered switches. After the first book, I wasn’t sure I’d like the MMCs in this one, as they don’t come across as good guys in the first one. But I loved them! The Lyalls and Cliff guys all sound amazing.

I love the daughter-custody storyline, as it adds a nice counterbalance to the switch/heat storyline.

I’m not a big fan of teacher/student, but this was well done. The student was already 19, and the ABO dynamics make it seem more natural.

Definitely recommend.

3.5 stars- Entertaining storyline. Not my flavor of ice cream, but well written. This is a story that doesn’t feel to heavy. The characters are pretty unique. The author did a good job of being consistent within all the interactions. That’s tough to do with many relational dynamics going on.

This is such a cute book, and it took me a moment to get into it because of single motherhood...after an awful break up. Hits too close. However, if you get past that, it is 🔥 🥵. You get a phenomenal plot followed by so much 🌶 🌶 🌶 . Get prepared to laugh and love all the characters! Great story from Roxy and I will definitely read more from her.

Well written, well edited, very engaging story. If you like Omegaverse books you'll like this one, you might even love it. Oh, and it's spicy (fans face).

Why I didn't give it five stars (Possible spoilers ahead):

Instalove: Out of the five men she ends up with, she only had a relationship with two before the book started. Upon meeting the other three men, they pretty much immediately want her. If you love this, great. Personally, I like to see relationships evolve.

Forbidden relationship: The FMC is a single mother that needs to keep her job to get to see her daughter. Yet she willingly risks that job to have a relationship with a student. I had a hard time accepting that.

The Switch thing: It got kind of confusing.

Cheating: One of the encounters felt like cheating to me. Maybe you'll feel differently, but it rubbed me the wrong way.

This story wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. 99% of the problems that Lexi has are miraculously solved by money and her mates' influence. She does do a few things herself, but not nearly enough. I was disgusted at how little Lexi fought for Bree (her 4 year old daughter). While she does ultimately end up fighting in the end, she was very passive about things that I would have taken my ex to court over.

I didn't mind the teacher/student relationship between Lexi and Mattie, though I was really not a fan of some of the terminology in this book. I hated the term "Alphas juices" with a passion. The sex scenes aren't really that well written and are pretty brief. I would have enjoyed more detail. The scenes felt like they started and ended within a breath sometimes.

I think I would have enjoyed this book more if Lexi stood up for herself more throughout the story. I also was not a fan of Lexi being a switch. It just seems like hormone wise that would be very rough on your body to switch between Omega and Alpha so often. I would have preferred if it was just a reveal where she was always an Omega or she presented as one and stayed one.

I did like the concept of the Alpha lock, I've actually never read an Omegaverse where there was a female alpha. The relationships between Lexi and the guys develop rapidly with little actual bonding. I think this story needed to be fleshed out more. Her relationship with Travis was very frustrating and the sudden change of heart felt like it came out of nowhere.

As far as the pack goes, it kind of weirded me out. The pack was made up of 5 men that was made up of three brothers and then two brothers. There was a lot of MM in this story with the two brothers having relationships with two of the three brothers from the other family. It gets a little weird for me when during Lexi's heat she locks and has sex with Mattie for hours, we don't get any indication that she cleans up, and is immediately with his brother after. Normally, I don't mind this, but it was WEIRD because he ate her out... with his younger brother's come inside her.

I don't get weirded out when there are brothers in a RH, but I don't like crossing the swords (none of the brothers are ever with their own brothers) or when one brother will either kiss a woman after she gave the other brother a blow job or gives her oral after she slept with the other guy. It normally is my thing when a guy eats a girl out while she still has come in her, but not when they're related.

This story really feels like it could have used more time to be fleshed out. With the length of the story they really should have had the pack be already together and not have them in limbo. That side plot took away from the other things happening in the book. Probably won't read more from this author. I'm not big on MM in RH stories. I want the focus on the FMC and it never is done right when there's MM. It seems like this author does this a lot so I'm going to pass on the rest of this series.

book 2

This was a harder book for me to get through. Trying to keep track of the characters and their budding/continued, relationships/friendships got confusing. You have two almost brother packs that initially were alpha packs that were going to one day hopefully combine their packs but then one pack had an alpha switch omega and the one brother pack had a relationship with, then the beta brother who was the youngest but not ever really included in their historical friendship because he wasn’t a known family member until his older brother found him. The male characters bled together in the beginning that I had a hard time keeping track of who and what their defining characteristics were to help. I think for me that this book needed the characters to stand out a little more so that you knew who was who, or at least have some sort of relationship tree bc it all became a mess after there were m/m relationships intertwined.

I feel like plot points weren’t as big of a deal: her ex and her kid, the student teacher relationship, her having issues with the male staff.
I felt like these were big plot points with conflict that should’ve been hashed out better. It was like all of a sudden it would be addressed and then dropped. It really irritated me that this book touts a single mother but reality is that her having a kid isn’t talked about. If this child means the world to her like she acts then why isn’t it brought to all the groups attention that she’s a mom, that she has a responsibility to a child even though she doesn’t have real custody. It’s almost like the child is an afterthought. Like it was a trope the author explored for all of 5 mins just to check off a box. There’s no real development with it. The guys swoop in get her better lawyers and then all of a sudden she has shared custody. And then it’s checked off time to move on.

To be honest I almost DNF this book because I was really put off by the fmc teacher/student relationship and it’s not that I don’t like that kind of trope, it’s just you as the reader are plopped right in the middle of it. In the beginning of the book her and the student have this burgeoning flirtation relationship where I think they had only made out and had this secret hooking up thing, and I don’t know if it put me off because she felt like a predator and it felt icky, but I think I felt that way because you never saw the beginning of how that all started or had enough of a hashed out backstory to get where this attraction took place to make her not look a little like a groomer.
Due to a lack of story it felt like she started out as a predator regardless of him being 19 and her 23. For me and that trope I like when the student-teacher relationship is new and just beginning so that you can see their characters and how they get to that point, so you understand how this came to be.
There was some promise, but I feel like this book needs a little extra hashing out and a little overhaul.

First impressions of this book is that it’s cringey. I was suffering from a lot of second hand embarrassment here.

Lexi is supposedly an alpha female, but she’s got no alpha attitude at all. I think it’s my biggest criticism. I wouldn’t know that Lexi is an alpha if the narrator hadn’t told me. She doesn’t stand up for herself; she lets people walk all over her; she blushes and is easily flustered; she has no confidence. This could easily be a typical Omega.

She’s a teacher at an all boys school, having an affair with a student. She’s basically already lost custody of her kid. This lady is a disaster.

Then potential pack members keep popping in. They randomly walk in on sex, people are switching designations all over the place, everyone is related somehow. It feels like a mess.

Noah: Brother of Travis. Wild child. Walks into his living room and meets Lexi, and is transformed into an instant supportive boyfriend.

Mattie: Proposes after one night of making out. Is a student at a problematic school for alphas even though he’s a beta and he could easily finish school elsewhere. He and Noah decide to bond after reuniting for 5 minutes.

Travis: Super rich. Has OCD. Easily stressed. Old friends with Lexi’s brother. Her childhood crush.

Jack: Omega-alpha switch. Nice guy. Another brother of Travis and Noah, boyfriend of Ben.

Ben: Brother of Mattie. Walks in on his brother having sex with a teacher and says “Cool, let’s make this a pack.”

Lexi, a 24 year old divorcee, is an female alpha teaching at an all male (mostly) alpha school. There she falls in love with her 19 year old student, Matthew, who is a beta. They get caught doing the "dirty" by his brother Benjamin, but he doesn't rat her out. The following night, his pack mates save her from being cornered by one of her coworker, who is known as the Master of Discipline.

That night, while in limo with Jackson (Ben's omega), Lexi is triggered and switches to an omega (Jackson is also a switch, can change between alpha and omega). She goes into heat. Travis (who Lexi has had a crush on since a teenager) freaks out and tries to take her to a facility, like a "heat facility" for help, when its his pack that can help her and they do. They take her to Travis' brother's house and Noah instantly falls in love with her.

After the heat, its known that Matthew, Jackson and Noah are all team Lexi. Benjamin is pulled away for work so he doesn't get to interact with her for a while but he is also team Lexi, but Travis on the fence. He has feelings for her but due to some past events its clouding his judgement.

During this time, Lexi is going through stuff with her ex-husband who left her for an omega. They barely allow her to see her 4 year old daughter and he insults her because she is with the new guys, the Lyall-Cliff pack (they are rich and well known). He tells her that she is throwing herself at them among other things. Founds out that Travis is in negotiations with working with Lexi's ex and her brother (they are both lawyers). Throughout the book, Travis just keeps on making mistake after mistake.

The final straw is at the end, after Lexi lost her job, she is confronted by her father, brother and ex-husband. Her ex tells her that he will be fighting for full custody of their daughter because he feels that she is unfit parent (which is definitely not true). Travis can't take the insults that is thrown at Lexi and he finally stands up for her. After the ordeal they go and make out in the hall and that triggers her heat. And end the end they all mate as a pack!!!

Omegaverse is my favorite troupe and this book was everything!!! Matthew and Benjamin are brothers and Jackson, Noah and Travis are brother. There is no incest. Noah was my favorite character and Travis made me want to strangle him at times!!
