Who do you turn to when you can't even trust yourself? When armed robbers come into the convenience store Cyrus Murphy works at, he's faced with more than the barrel of a gun - he ends up pulled into a world he never imagined, where he can't trust the people, their stories, or even the thoughts in his own head. This thrilling prequel novelette hurtles you into The Martyr Series headfirst, introducing you to mysterious characters, ruthless villains, and a horrifying realization that there's something darker haunting the streets of New York City than you ever thought possible.
The events of Fading occur just months before Resurrection , the first book in The Martyr Series.
Fading is a short prequel segment to Book 1 of the Martyr Series. I think this novelette (novella or short story? It’s a quick read y’all) is great to be read both before or after reading book 1. I read it after book one and it just gave a better understanding of the events that led to the beginning of book one. If you read it before, I think you will get a real sense of the spirit of the books and the writing style. If you love this you’ll love the rest of the series (3/7 released so far).
If the books are a season of a tv series, this is a short spinoff episode that will leaving heartbroken and emotionally prepared for the trauma this author doles upon the audience in hearty portions.
MC Hunton grabs your attention quickly and makes you feel sorrow in such a short time. This is a great addition to the Martyrs Series books. Giving you some background on a character you hear about on and off, and adding some great character development to one of our Sins.
The only thing that gives it three stars is because it's just so little. Not much MC could have done to improve it though.
