Once I got hooked on Pinterest, I pretty much stopped buying cookbooks. But this one caught my attention as I love making soups and stews more than any other food. This is a well thought out, well organized cookbook. The recipes range from the easy peasy to more moderate work required. None are overly complicated. But many have unusual ingredients that render a ho hum recipe into something much more interesting. For example, the inclusion of shredded has browns into a root vegetable soup. Everything I've tried to date have been big successes.

Now that fall is here, I’ve been in the mood for warm and satisfying meals that are also simple to prepare. Soups fit the bill perfectly, and these uncomplicated recipes with appetizing photos stimulate my interest and my appetite. The contents are neatly organized with each recipe laid out in the standard format with nutrition facts provided; about three-quarters of the recipes have photos.

This soup cookbook offers many different taste options with a strong tendency towards hearty soups. Every type of cook, from novice to experienced, will find something that suits their needs, although Taste of Home cookbooks tend to be oriented to the average and everyday cook. None of the soups look complicated, but if time is of the essence, or you truly hate to cook, the first chapter supplies quick and easy soups utilizing convenience foods for hurried meals or harried, inexperienced cooks. 😏

I’ve only tried one of the “lighter” soups so far, but I have a list of filling and nourishing options that will make simple yet savory meals over the coming months. I hope to find several keepers among them!

Lots of yummy things to try, but I wish there were more veggie-forward vegetarian options. Even the vegetable soups called for chicken broth or bouillon. Will have to do lots of substituting for these recipes!

I borrowed this from the library 3 separate times before deciding I better just buy the damn thing. That's how good it is. Great pictures, super easy recipes, and my 19 year old son loves pretty much every one of these soups. You can't go wrong.

Another excellent taste of home book! I really liked that they added a section for recipes to go with the soups. Wonderful pictures as usual, and delicious and unique recipes
