June 11, 2024ETA #2: Y'ALL ISTFG I'M GONNA BE SICK IF FIONN ISN'T OVER CLAIRE😭 I'm hoping that never really loved Claire but just proposed to her because he thought that's what the next stage in a relationship should be. There's this scene in L&L where Lachlan mentions that Fionn was "shattered" after Claire rejected his proposal. Also I fucking HATE Claire. That bitch had the audacity to hit on Lachlan after rejecting his brother??? TF BITCH??? I really don't want Rose to get caught up in this mess and drama because I love her and she deserves the world🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

Now when Brynne Weaver writes another serial unaliver romance you know I am literally waiting at my door for it to release! But this time I didn’t have to wait because I was blessed with an early copy so now I can give you the (non spoiler) tea!
Where to start with this book! If you’ve come from any of my socials, you probably know how obsessed I am with the Ruinous Love Trilogy. This series has literally created and OWNED a new subgenre that I like to call serial unaliver romcom✨ Of course we are finishing off this series with the last of the Kane brothers, Dr. Fionn & our circus girl Rose. Now these guys had a STORY. I think for most of the series Rose has kinda been a wild card and we didn’t really get to see what she is about. This book definitely fixed that and while I still wish we got a bit more of her backstory, I loved seeing her in her element. Fionn was great too, but I will always ride harder for the women that Brynne Weaver writes! Their relationship was fun to read and definitely brought the heat!! I’m not typically the biggest friends-to-lovers fan, but I did enjoy seeing Rose & Fionn bond over some…special hobbies😉 The only thing that I had trouble vibing with in this book was the timeline, because while it obviously needs to line up with the other two books, I did find it didn’t flow as nicely with the time jumps. However, I still loved these characters and can confidently say that this series ended with a bang…literally (iykyk).

Immediate reaction: so much fun. Rose is chaotic and oddly hopeful, and Fionn is so out of his comfort zone with her. They were perfect. I laughed, I panicked, I stayed up until 1am and then fell asleep in the midst of the epilogues.
The thing you really need to know: BARBARA.
Fionn runs away to the middle of America to escape heartbreak and what he thought he wanted, so he's a safe country doctor existing in his quiet isolated life until Rose comes along and reminds him to LIVE.
Rose is not quite as skilled a vigilante as our previous FMCs which leads to spectacular hilarity. As time passes and she is woven into Fionn's life, which includes befriending Sloane and Lark, her confidence in other aspects of her life grows.
These two are so fantastically in denial and terrible communicators but it's such a wild journey. The only true word for this book is chaos, but I mean that as the absolutely best kind. I'm obsessed with them. This is the ending the trilogy deserved, with happiness and resolution and VENGEANCE.
It is as brutal as the previous books, full of the same cave dark humor, and god way too much eyeballs Brynne you need to stop. Check the content warnings carefully, as outside of the gore there are real issues with domestic violence that may be triggering for some.

Rose & Fionns story was EVERYTHING, I cried, I laughed, I cried some more.
I just want to thank Brynne and her team for providing me with an ARC to review.
All opinions are my own.
Whew... I can't believe we are already at the end of the ruinous love Trilogy, I have adored both B&B and L&L, and I adore S&S (not really a surprise though is it)
Brynne has outdone herself with this novel, I'm not sure if it's just me but I do think that S&S feels darker than the two previous novels, it still has the comedy and sass that is just "Brynne" so you will likely find yourself laughing, crying, laughing some more, feeling a little hot under the collar and needing a cold shower because Dr Kane is utterly filthy in all of the best ways 🥵🥵🫠.
S&S spans over a longer time period than B&B and L&L, so we do experience some of those events, but from Rose & Fionns perspective- like Rose meeting Sloane and "Man-guy" for the first time.
While domestic abuse isnt shown on the page it is a content warning and you can honestly feel the anger rolling off Rose when she knows that something is going on behind closed doors, I could genuinely feel the anger rising in me during certain scenes. I have to say I loved the little mention of Guilia Tofana and a brief history of Aqua Tofana.
I remember mentioning this in my L&L review in regards to Lark and Lachlan, but both Fionn and Rose have their own distinctive voices and personalities, and they really came across on the pages.
Also, it is my headcanon that Rose, Sloane & Lark have monthly craft evenings together, and you won't convince me otherwise. Do I have a reason for believing this? Not really, but i want it to be true.
I also just have to say this Trilogy is more than 3 different romantic relationships, there is a real sense of "found family" obviously the Kane brothers would go to the ends of the earth for one and other anyway but adding Rose, Sloane and Lark (and Winston, Bentley & Barbara) really united everything.
The epilogues are certainly interesting; I highly suggest not skipping them, I dont want to give too much away so soon, but I do hope we see a standalone "spin off", as I feel like the ending has the possibility.

I am BLESSED to have an ARC copy, which I binged the last two days. This one is unputdownable, fast paced, spicy, and features the MCs from 'Butcher & Blackbird' and 'Leather & Lark'.
Fionn meets injured Rose and is immediately enamoured by this mysterious woman. While Rose is stuck in his small town, Doc opens up his home to make sure her recovery goes as smoothly as possible. The reason she is injured is still out there, and she can't wait to get back on the road.

Rose is immediately a lovable FMC, upfront, honest, and slightly impulsive. Her personality matched with Fionn's creates an opposites-attract love story filled with LOL moments (Barbra), sexual tension, and banter that is *chef's kiss*.
This was a perfect ending to the series.

fionnrose were so intriguing from their first apparition in b&b and their story DIDNT MISS. it was AMAZING OMG
I feel like people who didn’t love L&L will have a field with this book bc it’s the perfect mix of lachlanlark’s longing and sloanerowan’s chemistry
we got to know so much more of rose and fionn as characters and I must say I love them separately but also so much together. their story was full of banter, friendship, spice and longing. the writing in this book was really good and put so much emphasis on the feelings they were both having for each other
this book was paradoxically the most spicy and romantic of the trilogy. be aware that they are entering a friends with benefits deal at some point and THEY ARE FREAKY….
this last installment was amazing to end the trilogy. we got a great romance, an amazing writing, some really sweet found family moments, gruesome mayhem and of course a big dose of humour
one of my favourite thing also about this book is how their storyline was overlapping the two previous books. that was so fun to see the other sides of some moments happening in the other books
I will probably reread the book just bc it was just so soft and entertaining! I can’t wait to see what brynne has in store for us in the future bc dark romcoms is for sure a genre she is excellent at

Thank you to Brynne for an advanced copy of this book. I literally squealed when I saw the email🤣
This book was everything I'd hoped it would be and more! One of the main things I have enjoyed about this series is how different all three of the books are. Brynne could have very easily written B&B over and over again, and I wouldn't have complained. Instead, she's taken so much care into making sure that each book is so unique and can stand firmly on its own. I respect her so much for taking us on different journeys with each of the Kane brothers and the women they love.
Now, onto the specifics of Scythe & Sparrow! Let's start off with Rose. She's very different from Sloane and Lark, and it was so refreshing watching her trying to do her thing throughout the book without the experience our previous two leading ladies had. I loved getting to know her background and seeing why she makes the choices she does. I was honestly rooting for her to be happy right from the start. I was desperate for her to realise that she deserved to be loved and to be able to wish for more from her life.
Now, onto Fionn. This man and his pining!!!! And his loyalty!! We love a protective man! It was clear to see he was whipped for Rose. I was literally screaming at him to break his rules and go for it. Of course, Brynne doesn't make it easy for us. He went on such an emotional journey throughout the book. There is so much i want to say but can't because of spoilers, but I could write an essay on this man.
Overall, Brynne has delivered another winner. The plot moves at a great pace, and there are no parts that lagged. Rose and Fionn's relationship developed so well. They both had to heal some inner conflicts before being ready to think about accepting each other. Amazing job Brynne❤️❤️❤️
This book was everything I'd hoped it would be and more! One of the main things I have enjoyed about this series is how different all three of the books are. Brynne could have very easily written B&B over and over again, and I wouldn't have complained. Instead, she's taken so much care into making sure that each book is so unique and can stand firmly on its own. I respect her so much for taking us on different journeys with each of the Kane brothers and the women they love.
Now, onto the specifics of Scythe & Sparrow! Let's start off with Rose. She's very different from Sloane and Lark, and it was so refreshing watching her trying to do her thing throughout the book without the experience our previous two leading ladies had. I loved getting to know her background and seeing why she makes the choices she does. I was honestly rooting for her to be happy right from the start. I was desperate for her to realise that she deserved to be loved and to be able to wish for more from her life.
Now, onto Fionn. This man and his pining!!!! And his loyalty!! We love a protective man! It was clear to see he was whipped for Rose. I was literally screaming at him to break his rules and go for it. Of course, Brynne doesn't make it easy for us. He went on such an emotional journey throughout the book. There is so much i want to say but can't because of spoilers, but I could write an essay on this man.
Overall, Brynne has delivered another winner. The plot moves at a great pace, and there are no parts that lagged. Rose and Fionn's relationship developed so well. They both had to heal some inner conflicts before being ready to think about accepting each other. Amazing job Brynne❤️❤️❤️

The Ruinous Love Trilogy concludes with Scythe & Sparrow. I have a habit of skipping to the Author’s Acknowledgments before diving into the book itself.., it’s just something I do. Brynne’s words resonated with me: “While writing Butcher & Blackbird was joyful, and Leather & Lark was challenging, Scythe & Sparrow felt healing.” That’s exactly how this final book reads. It’s not as wild as Butcher & Blackbird or as intense as Leather & Lark. Instead, Scythe & Sparrow feels calm and grounded….it just is… if that makes sense. It provides a satisfying closure for all three couples in the trilogy.
The book has plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, especially thanks to Rose’s wit. She’s a riot. And then there’s Fionn… sigh. There’s just something about him that makes you want to hold on and never let go.
Did I want more from Fionn and Rose’s story? Absolutely. Barbara (you’ll soon know!!) and the first epilogue helped bump this to a four star read for me. As for the second epilogue, in true Brynne fashion, it teases future storylines and new characters to look forward to. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next..

As ever, Brynne’s characters are so delightfully flawed and difficult and sensitive and stubborn and truly human. Their banter is perfection and their love full and true.
I have, once more, gagged, teared up, cackled and gasped in equal measure.
Rose is chaos incarnate and I fucking love her. Who goes in full steam ahead with no plan?! This bitch.
Also, I adore Gransie.
I could go on about Brynne’s poeticism because it haunts me every book. She knuckles into little moments so heartbreakingly accurately that little phrases get lodged in my noggin; “purple halo,” for example, two words but a whole lot of history and hurt done to an innocent. Stop it.
This is my first reread 🤭 so my feels will be updated as I go back through. But just know that I loved it the first time. I’ll love it more the second.
And I hope Jess M is up for sharing Jessica The Paramedic ‘cause I don’t wanna fight someone with such an excellent name and friend.
Oh. And god bless the Hot Fuzz references for eveeeer.
