Spade. People know what to expect when they hear my last name.

Billionaire. Alphahole. The forever bachelor. Heir to Spade Hotels, one of the most luxurious brands in the world.

Want to know what they would never call me?

Boyfriend.

Until her.

With one glance at her in the club, I’m ready to claim her for the night.

Dark, flowing hair. A smile that causes my heart to pound. Eyes that pierce my soul. And a perfect body that makes every part of me pulse.

She’s addictive. Electrifying. Consuming.

I’ve never wanted anyone more.

Our eyes meet, but she looks right past me. She isn’t here for me. She’s here for the music.

For the first time in my life, a woman makes me work for it. Her indifference fuels the fire inside me.

The result? One night. No names. No introductions.

Just pleasure.

The way I’ve always liked it.

But now, I find myself fantasizing about this gorgeous stranger, and I swear I can still feel the softness of her skin and taste her on my lips.

The minute I saw her, a switch flipped inside me. Now, how do I stop this raging … obsession?

When our paths cross again in the most unexpected way, I’m on a mission to make her mine. But what happens when she wants nothing to do with me?

4.25⭐
Genre ~ contemporary romance
Series ~ Spade Hotel #1
Setting ~ Hawaii & Los Angeles, California
Publication date ~ December 28, 2023
Est page Count ~ 396 (26 chapters)
Audio length ~ 10 hours
Narrator ~ Savannah Peachwood, Tor Thom
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ characters in their 20's, fast burn ~ then kinda slow burn, one night stand, billionaire, college student, rich man/poor woman, age gap (27 & 22), opposites attract, alpha, secrets, lack of communication, plenty of steamage, no 3rd act breakup

Macon & Brooklyn
Macon is at a club for a bachelor party when he's drawn to the tiny dancer on a stage. Initially she's not feeling him, but very soon she realizes she can't resist his charms, so they head out to the party bus to get very well acquainted with each other.

Holy Maconator, so perfectly alpha and obsessed (not creepily) with her right from the start. He falls first, too. Although a billionaire, he's not overly billionaire~ish, except for that one time he flew her on a private jet to get the best sushi on the island.

Brooklyn was super smart, hardworking and passionate about her ideas to save the hotel money. I'm all about saving money and she had some good ideas, although probably already implemented in real life. I liked how, besides that first encounter, she doesn't give in so easily and plays a little hard to get, which throws Macon off since he's not used to that at all.

My only harp is that I really wish they didn't keep their secrets from each other for so long. They weren't even really that big of a whoop, hers especially. But at least we don't have a 3rd act breakup, so that makes up for it.

Overall, a great start to a new series and just what I'd expect from Marni. I love that we got a glimpse of the Dalton's from her previous series that I loved so much. See my reviews for all 5 of those books here.

I was lucky enough to have the ebook and an audio copy.

Narration notes:
Savannah did a lovely job. Tor was great, too, more so with his man voice than his lady one.

Listen, I want it to be known that I am all for getting lost in a book and completely suspending reality. BUT!!! Let me tell you, if some dude bro came up to me in the club to blatantly stare up my dress at my 🐱 AS HIS OPENING MOVE, I would have delivered a roundhouse kick to his face. And then I would have gone home and slept easy at night and never thought about him again.

This man’s pickup lines were taken straight from a SigEp or Pike manual called "how to be a douchebag: a dating guide for immature frat fuckboys". Seriously, a random chick approached our mmc and asked him what cologne he was wearing and he says his typical response would be “sex in a bottle”. I THREW UP.

And the sheer hypocrisy at the end on Macon’s part? After he was so enraged at our fmc for her little “deception”, but she just forgave him for his manipulation & lies? Brooklyn, hunni, I dub thee doormat, forever shall be thy name. You should’ve burned his hotel to the ground.

That’ll be the last Marni Mann book I read. ✌🏼

“I busted you looking up my dress the second you got over here. Do you think you’ve earned my trust?” “I wanted to see what I’d soon be licking.”
This beginning is the hottest thing I read this year and the male character is the most confident and perfect book boyfriend.
It’s worth reading.

ETA now if you've never seen my reviews before let me add a little disclaimer since it's been a while since I had to say this .....

My opinions on a book I spent MY money on and took time out of MY busy day to read are just that MINE! I'll be as unfailingly honest as I have been in my time on GR. My reviews are mostly there for me,if they help someone steer clear of a book that wouldn't have been for them good.....but it's for ME!
Y'all enjoy Bacon's story 🙄

Spoilers ahead

How TF do you pronounce his name???? Like Bacon with a M? Cuz that's how I said it and it's annoying as fuck but moving on

Bacon got his heart broken and decided to enter the playboy phase of his life. He spent the next 7 years fucking women after women.....the descriptions, the references the bro chat .....were all so disgustingly smeared in my face that every time I came upon Bacon I expected some part of him to be burning or itching because ewwwwwwww. But I digress.....Bacon met the h at a club and decided he wanted her, his opening moves were to look up her dress and deliver the cringiest most douchebag lines ever delivered by douchebags anywhere but again I digress.....the h takes the nasty horndog up on his offer and they have a ONS where she purified his dick and triple wrapped it before having sex with a guy who gives major ick vibes.....wait that's not what happened sorry....so Bacon has his ONS but then finds himself in a quandry because he can't stop thinking about her and even though women everywhere want him so desperately he keeps going back to the club to find the h because smart girl that she is she didn't give him her number.
Anyways some back and forth and terrible sex they finally get together. Bacon proves his douchebaggery then they get their hea.....I skimmed so much since hearing about Bacon's manwhoring I missed whole chapters but I didn't care because Bacon's entire circle.....every single guy there is either a MANWHORE or a REFORMED MANWHORE!!!!!! And listennnnn a reformed manwhore done right is the sweetest most loyal of bbf.....but key words are done right!!!!! Don't rub his past in my face especially as it was as recent as nights ago then try to convince me he's changed overnight 🖕🏿
*ETA I forgot how he got so pissed off at her for lying about her job then forgave her but he was a liar too!!!!!

Bacon deserved all the STDs

Easy, fluff read

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1\2
Trope: deception
Angst: 😱😱😱1\2
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

So this is my first Marni Mann book and while it wasn't necessarily my thing, I think a lot of people will enjoy it. A bit lighter on the storyline, yet somehow heavier on the angst and super heavy on the smexy times. Relatively well written, I just prefer something a little more complex.

Commencing awkward giggling. Umm......

Yeeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhh......

Someone on Facebook recommended this book and im.....horrified that they would even suggest someone read this 😂😂 its dog shit 🤷

He has a two year relationship with a girl in college but she couldn't do the long term distance thing. So hes just like "fuck this! I'm just going to fuck other girls and not have love in my life!" 😬😬😬😂😂

Then hes at a bachelor party and sees a girl. The amount of dialogue and time it took for him to tell her that he wants her and her to tell.him that she wasn't interested was long. Too long. Too fucking long and I want a refund of my time! Fuck man!

Then the scene of them fucking for the first time went like this:

From the book " “This is”—she stopped to pant—“amazing.” I was barely trying. This was just my way of having her get used to my size and power. I swiveled my hips to show her what amazing really felt like, so I wasn’t just penetrating her straight on; I was hitting her sides, brushing against her clit. That was one hell of a combination. “Fuck yeah,” I hissed. “You’re so wet right now.” Within a stroke, I could sense that she felt the difference. Her breathing turned louder; her nails found their way to the back of my thighs and stabbed the skin. I liked the pain. I liked everything she was giving me. I wanted more. So, I went faster. “Yes!” she cried. I pumped harder. “Yes!” she yelled again. And I watched the second orgasm begin to roll in, her body stiffening as she neared the peak, her eyes closing, her nails digging in even more. “Give it to me.” I tilted my hips upward, going faster than I had before. “I want to see it.” I held her waist and bounced within her. “I want to fucking feel it.” It only took a few lunges before she was screaming, “Shiiiit, yes!” She gasped, “Fuck!”"

Did I dnfed after this scene? Shiiiiiit, yes! Fuck! This book is so cringy and bad 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦💩💩💩💩💩💩

This was a fun opposites attract, dual POV romance set mainly in Hawaii. While it's a spinoff from the original Dalton brothers series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Perfect for Blue Crush movie lovers, this was an enjoyable read and I loved how strong the FMC was even if there was a lot of deception on both sides. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

Marni Mann cannot write a bad book! She came in swinging with this beauty. The Playboy is book one in the Spade Hotel series and what an epic start to a new series! Brooklyn and Macon are the main characters in this book and I loved these two so much!

Brooklyn is all about love when it comes to Macon, he can break down the wall brick by brick that she has up and capture her heart.

Macon is everything and more than you would want in a man. He’s sweet, sexy AF and so swoon-worthy. Normally he has women throwing themselves at him, but Brooklyn isn’t one of them women.. it doesn’t stop him from making his feelings for her known, even though he has not had feelings for a woman since he was younger so he has no idea how to act or what to do around her. It’s fun to read!

You put these two together and the chemistry between the two is off the charts, they bounce off each other... They may not seem like they would work. They may seem opposites but they really are meant for each other and the way the author has weaved it all together is perfection.

oh my god, the spice in this book is ….*chefs kiss*
I loved everything about this book and the characters. It was such an easy, fun, steamy, delicious and addictive read. I devoured it in one day!

READ THIS BOOK!!

This was so freakin good!!

The Playboy is the first book to the Spade Hotel series and this follows Macon and Brooklyn. I absolutely loved them together, their relationship was everything so sexy, the banter was so good and the spice was delicious. I am obsessed with Macon.

This was such a good start to the series and I cannot wait for The Rebel.

Macon is a playboy - he fucks everything in his way since college because got his heart broken - when he sees Brooklyn dancing in a night club and falls hard at first sight. She says she’s not interested and having anything for about a third of the book but at the same time she’s fucking him and that’s one of the first hypocrisy in this books that annoyed me.

What bothers me the most about this story is how the author writes a damsel in destress that found herself a Prince Charming who is a billionaire and also the one who has her dream job but wants us to believe that she’s a hard worker under appreciated at her current job, and that she doesn’t want to mix business with pleasure, but her boyfriend doesn’t give her another option.

Brooklyn hasn’t even finished school yet, she worked as a housekeeper for 4 years, meaning she never had a job with management experience or other experiences for that matter but she got a management job at her boyfriend’s hotel because - according to the author - she’s brilliant and she’s gonna help them save money. God, the way she talked about how she had ideas for the hotel to save money with cleaning products - like this is a idea no one has ever thought about - made me mad as hell. And she was cocky enough to say the hotel needed her - and not the other way around. Ant to top that up, she was going to be reporting to her boyfriend, obviously.

Look, I don’t have a problem with her working for him or even having opportunities thanks to him. But I do have a problem with the hypocrisy, with the author trying to sell something that isn’t it. I would rather her owning it, being grateful that he showed up and changed her life, that she’s lucky, than to have her lying to him about her job but having no problem accepting a job interview from him or for her to say she earn anything because she got A’s in school. She didn’t. Once again the author writes an heroine who doesn’t recognize her privilege. The fact that she’s poor doesn’t change that. This opportunity came to her because she was fucking the god damn owner. That’s it. Even if she was brilliant, the only reason they heard her ideas was because she was fucking the owner because her resume, with no experience and not a college degree, wouldn’t let her pass the door. Let’s acknowledge that at least.

Another thing that bothered me was her telling him in the same breath that she wanted things to go slowly but asking him to fuck her without a condom. One or the other, gata.

This story felt wrong. She played hard to get, I didn’t appreciate the fact that the only thing that separated her from the other women in his life was the fact that she said “no” to him at first, something no woman hasn’t before. To me, that’s not enough to believe in his feelings or in them as a couple. Then, there was the job, and their fight about her lies and his lies…
Once again Marni wrote a sex as fuck book, with a problematic story. I got through but I didn’t enjoyed one bit.

First Impressions
The Playboy is the first in her "Spade Hotel" series and this was also my first time reading this author. I have been seeing her around a lot lately. So I definitely had my curiosity peaked with this author and I have really loved the vibe of the edits that I have seen for her books and just knew that I needed to try her out. So I decided to pick up "Playboy" cause I do honestly love a good manwhore hero because they make the best reformed men for their ladies. Now I will be honest, the pacing in this book especially in the beginning, is way off and I almost DNF but I decided to switch to the audiobook for a bit and it seemed to help a lot and then I was completely swept into this story physically. You do need to be patient with this one especially if you aren't used to this author's writing style, but once I adjusted to it, I ended falling in love with it.

First Line
"Six beers deep before noon. Now that's a style I can get behind."

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Macon Spade
The Heroine:Brooklyn

Summary
Macon Spade, is wealthy and has the type of money you would expect from being born into a family wealthier than Midas. He is completely devoted to his family, the business he is running with his family and his love for women and having countless affairs. He isn't ashamed of what he loves and despite what he has seen by his own family and friends, he isn't planning on settling down with one woman....until he meets Brooklyn. In a dance club in Hawaii, he stumbles into a breathtaking woman who steals his heart that one night and he pines for the one woman who is looking for a career and is content being independent as she is. But neither Brooklyn or Macon expected to fall in love or Macon having to work for his woman and convincing her they are worth taking a chance on.

What I Loved
There was quite a bit to love about this one. I can guarantee that you will experience plenty of swoons and feels in this book. I never know what to expect from a fling romance but this one seemed to really work for me in all the best of ways. Once these two really connect and much more than it being about the sex, is where the book SOARED for me. Not really a fan of insta lust books but this author definitely makes it work. The growth of their relationship was so fascinating and I will admit that I lived for the sweet emotional moments that come in at just the right time. And even though there are some secrets in the conflict in the story, there is NO third act breakup and I can't tell you how much I absolutely loved that aspect to the story. We have two people that BOTH make mistakes and keep secrets from each other. But they actually act like true adults and WORK THEIR PROBLEMS OUT and actually learn to communicate like they need. I respected that so much from this author, and for that reason alone I will be continuing on with her books.

What I Struggled With
So what I struggled with the most was the pacing, I just wasn't a fan of how long it took to get into this one, but once I did get into it I fell hard for. The heroine at times was hard to relate to but in other ways I really vibed with her. There are also secrets, that weren't a big deal but became a big deal because they were dragged out, so there was some drama. There was also a bit too abrupt of a ending, it just felt too rushed and I wanted to see more couple time.

Overall View
Playboy is a story that just comes to life on the beautiful island of Hawaii, its a story of the work it takes to build a romantic relationship, learning to let go of ego and your pride, to fight for you heart and the heart of the one you love. its authentic and true to the heart that you will want to join their adventure....

Favorite Quote(s)
“Is there an us?” She nodded. “I see it. I feel it.” She put her hand on mine. “Believe me when I say, I want it.” I watched as she breathed, as she took in my face, as the emotion continued to pass through hers. “You know all I’ve wanted is you.”

Marni just knows exactly what to put in a book to make it so freaking addicting!! 😩😍

I have never wanted to be a fictional character so badly… MACON is the book boyfriend of my dreams 🥵

I fell in love instantly with the MC’s from the very first chapter! Macon is this cocky billionaire playboy who pretty much gets any woman he wants. Brooklyn is this fiery independent woman with the perfect amount of sass. Their chemistry through out the book was *sighs* SO GOOD. I’m obsessed with a book with a reformed playboy and the way Macon would do anything to be around this woman just made my heart so freaking happy.

I’m kicking myself for not reading this book sooner but I’m already starting on book 2 of the series and can’t wait to read about Cooper 😍

If you love…

-Reformed Playboy
-Billionaire
-Deception/ Secret identity(Job)
-One Night Stand(s)

I really liked this billionaire grumpy x sunshine romance and found that it was really fast paced! 💵

The story has a one-night stand, a secret identity and a whole lot of spice 🌶️

You follow Macon and Brooklyn. She’s living in Hawaii and Macon is temporarily staying on the island for the preparations of the new luxurious “Spade Hotel”. He’s known to be a player and after a night out with his friends for a bachelor party, they had a steamy one-night stand together.

Macon didn’t want commitment or emotions involved but when he got to know Brooklyn, he became obsessed with her….

Thank you to Valentine Pr, Marni Mann and the publisher for providing me with this copy. All opinions are my own

I was extremely impressed with the narrators for this novel. With dual POV and both a male and female narrators, I felt they really were able to breathe life into this stormy.

Macon, to me, wasn’t your typical billionaire bad boy. I will say he was a teeny tiny bit full of himself and his *ahem* capabilities (not that he didn’t deliver) in the beginning, as was expected. That being said, it did kind of give me the ick how full of himself he was. BUT he really was humble in his own way. He worked hard for what he had, he took care of Brooklyn (in all aspects ) and was never braggy about his wealth, which is normally a big thing in billionaire books. “I have money, I’m going to toss it around and you’re going to like it”. Not Macon. Macon said let me take care of you because it makes me happy.

I never felt a hug power imbalance with Macon and Brooklyn, and I loved that. Macon made Brooklyn feel like his equal from the start. Side note: we love a girl was a sassy mouth giving a man a run for his money. Brooklyn was full of spunk and wasn’t taking anyone’s crap and I live and breathe that. Give me a strong female lead and I’m sold.

There were times where I felt like this wasn’t the first novel in the series. I stopped reading and had to look and see because some things were said in a way that made me feel like I had missed something. I will definitely be looking to see if this novel is connected in some way with another. The combination of this and the ick vibes I got from braggy Macon in the beginning are the reasoning behind my three star rating.

If billionaire romance is your vibe, I would still definitely recommend you check out The Playboy by Marni Mann!

The Playboy is a steamy romance. After Macon gets his heart broken, he doesn’t think he will ever find love again. Macon sees Brooklyn dancing at a club and is instantly attracted to her. One night isn’t enough for Macon but with no name he is left going back to the club to find her. Can Macon convince Brooklyn to have the relationship he never wanted? Brooklyn is only focused on college and working to pay her bills. They come from very different worlds with Macon being a billionaire, and Brooklyn lives in a small apartment with her two sisters because that is all she can afford. Brooklyn is afraid to show Macon show she really is. I couldn’t put this book down. I loved how different the characters were and how strong willed Brooklyn is. The Playboy is the first book in The Spade Hotel series and I can’t wait to read the rest. For fans of Marni Mann, some of the Dalton’s make appearances.

Marni Mann, known for her captivating storytelling, delivers another sultry and passionate romance in "The Playboy." Meet Macon Spade, the epitome of a billionaire playboy, heir to the luxurious Spade Hotels.

Unaccustomed to the word "boyfriend," he encounters Brooklyn, a mysterious beauty who ignites a desire he's never known.
Mann weaves a tale of seduction, vulnerability, and unexpected twists.

In true Mann style, the story is brimming with steamy encounters and swoon-worthy dialogue. Macon's journey from a man avoiding vulnerability to one determined to make Brooklyn his is a rollercoaster of emotions.

Mann expertly captures the essence of a man scorned and burned by a broken heart, making "The Playboy" a must-read for those who crave passion-fueled romances and the thrill of unexpected love.

the playboy is the first installment in the spade hotel series and what a start indeed.

brooklyn and macon were total opposites but they just worked so effortlessly. they had great banter and their chemistry was oh so good. macon was absolutely smitten with brooklyn and i just loved how incredibly obsessed (not in a bad way) he was with her.

the playboy was a great start to a new series by marni mann. her signature touch of an obsessive man was present as well as the level of heat, spicy spicy. brooklyn and macon brought it to the max. i can’t wait for the next book and to be back in this world.

I loved this story and couldn't stop until I finished it. It was interesting to see how people from two different "worlds" collided and how the story developed. It is the first installment of The Spade Hotel series and I can’t wait to read the rest. Some of the Daltons make appearances in this book from Marni Manns's other series too. I will have to check that series too. Since this was an audiobook, I have to say that Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom did a perfect job in narrating and I love to listen to their narration. Thanks to the author, #dreamscapemedia, and #NetGalley for the audio ARC.

Unfortunately this was a miss for me. I loved the dalton series and was looking forward to this but right out the gate I didn’t like Macon and felt the story was not really believable.

Man declares he will never date again but then sees a random “tiny” girl and says SHES THE ONE IM DONE. Drops his vow to never date to (creepily might I add) pursue this woman who he does not know. Their connection is based solely on vibes and that Macon is determined to lock her down.

I just didn’t like it. I think this one was not for me but I’ll come back for more.

Audio Review:
Savannah was perfect. No notes.

Tor Thom was disappointing. While he has a good voice and I’ve liked him before, this book just wasn’t his best performance. When he voiced the female characters his voice breathy and hard to understand, he mumbled and dropped the end of words. The way he delivered dialogue made it all sound cringy.

Quick Summary: An intense listening experience and then some

My Review: The Playboy by Marni Mann is the first installment in the Spade Hotel series.

About the Book: When a billionaire businessman spots a raven-haired beauty dancing on a platform stage, he does everything he can to get to know her. He initiates a hard core press to learn what he can about her. As he seduces her with his charm and makes her scream his name, she does the same to him. When work gets in the way, the two run the risk of losing what they have just found together.

Question to Consider: Is the playboy now ready to turn in his player's card for a forever love?

About the Characters: Macon was a total alpha male. He was confident and assertive. He knew what he wanted and he had no problem communicating it. Brooklyn was strong and independent. She was driven and worked hard to realize her goals. The supports were mentioned just enough to keep things interesting but not enough to clutter the main story.

My Final Say: Macon and Brooklyn had some serious chemistry. Their story was extremely captivating. This one gets a hot and spicy red light.

Other: Readers who are looking for sexy times will find it in this romance tenfold.

The first book in a new series by Marni Mann and boy, is it hot! 🔥

I love the reformed playboy story and especially when he falls first and I absolutely LOVED Macon Spade. I love watching the player change his ways and when he first saw Brooklyn dancing at the club, all he could think about was her and he would stop at nothing to win her over.

Brooklyn is juggling so many things in her life... wanting to finish college and her job and has no time to even think about Macon. But he is persistent... and he wants his girl.

I love that Brooklyn had a mind of her own and was so smart and hard-working. I loved that Macon showed her a life that she wasn't used to and was basically a fairy tale come to life. He really romanced his girl and I was there for it.

Let's not even talk about the heat... just WOW!

So I didn't love the secrets and miscommunication part but everything else was perfection. I am looking forward to more in this series <3

Marni Mann always delivers on that mesmerizing spice- and the new Spade Hotel series is certainly starting with some serious sizzle! The Playboy is playful and hot, full of that billionaire dazzle and lusty immediate spark attraction that make her books such deliciously seductive page turners. If you love the reformed playboy trope and a high spice story of unexpected falling with just the right dash of angst and swoon, Marni delivers with The Playboy.

Brooklyn and Macon certainly have some epic chemistry. The physical desire can't be denied, even if these two are completely opposite in all ways but one-neither are looking for any attachments. Macon's baggage has warped him into a alphahole, at times arrogant, and completely detached bachelor. Until he meets the alluring Brooklyn, the one woman who doesn't want him and he's going to have to WORK to get. As their passionate connection turns into more, Macon determines to make her his, though both are going break through some real emotional barriers in each other.

Macon may start as your stereotypical billionaire playboy, but he soon evovles into a more swoon-worthy beau....and quite a devoted and accomplished bed companion (wink wink). It's fun to watch someone so set against relationships fall so quickly and devastatingly after one passionate encounter that he just can't forget- and to push against his vulnerability fear to make his intentions and heart known to a woman who isn't quite on the same page.

Brooklyn is so stoic and driven- living a radically different lifestyle than Macon in the pursuit of her professional goals and aspirations. She doesn't anticipate her one night of cutting lose would turn into something more- and she certain fights against it. And while Macon goes all in, she holds back. A lot. Their connection grows, but she doesn't confide in Macon, even while he's pursuing her so sweetly. The result is a steamy push-pull that neither can deny.

This does rely on a bit of insta-love, but more so instalust that turns into something more substantial. And the conflict is a bit of that dreaded miscommunication/lack of openness trope, but fairly quickly it's lower angst and is resolved fairly quickly. As always, the spice could melt the north pole.

You know it’s a good book when you reach the end and pout because it’s over. Brooklyn and Macon were just so fun together. They had an easiness to them that just felt so satisfying.

Macon is a man obsessed. When he locks eyes with the beautiful Brooklyn from across a busy club, he knows he’ll never be able to get the image of her out of his head. That feeling only intensifies when he crosses the room to get close. She’s feisty, not interested, but the rich playboy loves a challenge. Especially if it ends with the two of them in bed.

Brooklyn is enjoying a night on the town when a handsome flirt shows up to spoil her fun. He’s arrogant and self assured, but there’s something about him that keeps her from sending him away. They may come from completely different worlds, but the tension between them is palpable. As much as Brooklyn tries to fight their connection, she can’t deny the playboys antics.

As always, I ate this book up. I love Marni Mann’s writing and already think this series is a lot of fun. It’s the perfect addition to the Dalton world. We get the first look into the Spade family and it’s steamy hot brothers, while also seeing glimpses of the Dalton’s still thriving. It had me grinning from ear to ear. It really is the ideal blend of old and new.

Although the characters fall for each other nearly right away, I still enjoyed this read. There was plenty of tension despite the insta-love. It’s so steamy while also having substance and I loved that it kept me on my toes. Normally I HAVE to read the blurb before starting a book, but I went in blind and loved the experience. I was at the edge of my seat trying to figure out how their white lies would eventually blow up their relationship.

I’m excited to watch Macon’s brothers eat their words and set aside their playboy ways in the following books. Thank you the Marni and her team for the copy of the eARC, it’s such a pleasure to be on the ARC Team.
