When trust is destroyed, more than hearts will break
Grace Taylor is stunned to see her ex-husband at Crossroads Mountain Retreat—a place where she uses her special ops training to help veterans like herself heal. She’s determined to keep Zeke far from her mind despite their new proximity. But when a group camping excursion ends with a dead guest, all evidence points to Zeke as the killer.
A potentially career-ending injury leads Zeke Friedman to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, where he comes face-to-face with the one person who hurt him more than the bullet that threatened to steal his future. But spending time with Grace is the least of his worries after a camping trip from hell, where someone attempted to frame him for murder.
Forced to trust the woman who broke his heart, Zeke accepts Grace’s help in clearing his name. Tension escalates between them as their past is thrust into the present. Now, they must uncover the truth behind the recent murder before Zeke is arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. And their hearts are broken again.
Danielle M Haas is a stay-at-home mom turned author. When she isn’t writing fast-paced romantic suspense novels with mysteries to live for and romance to die for, she’s busy being a taxi driver to her two busy kids and forcing her introverted self to talk to other soccer moms. Her kids and husband are her world, which is also shared with her hyper Bernie doodle, two sassy cats, and one leopard gecko who’s happy to chill on a rock all day. Her days are packed with cuddles, kisses, and a brain constantly thinking of new ways to create danger and romance for her next book.
Injured hero series. Each book is amazing because the characters cross over into each book it's Like one big family.. A retreat for injured Heroes to recover.
Grace and Zeke story.
Zeke has gone to the retreat For recovery and some camping.. Little did he know the one in charge would be, Someone from his past. Staying will be a bit of a challenge. But zeke has done things in his life that he's gotten past. So this is a challenge he can do...

The last person zeke expected to see was grace..
This was a really good book I love this entire series.. Looking forward to the next book in the series..
Another brilliant read in this wonderful series and I know many will only be meeting this series for the first time through Susan Stokers world but if you haven't read them go back and read the previous books You will not be disappointed.
Throughout this entire series Grace has hugged the edges a on point tracker she is always willing to lend a hand when her new team mates at the Crossroads Mountain Retreat need help she has never been forth coming with information about herself or her past. That all comes to a head when one of the new clients arrives and is non other than her former husband Zeke Friedman. Zeke is here to recover from injuries received in the line of duty and has the Retreat recommended to him by Penelope (Susan Stoker's Badge of Honor series) but all isn't as it seems and soon Zeke is fighting to prove his innocence in a number of murders. Can Grace help him to clear his name and will the forced proximity make them face the fact that they still love one another and may be build a future together once again.
Loved the story. (I've been waiting for Grace's story--and it was as complex and compelling as I expected.) I figured out the whodunit early on, but still there was plenty of action and conflict in this one.
FYI, this story is also a crossover from Susan Stoker's Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series, featuring appearances from Penelope Turner, along with some updates about her, her hubby Tucker "Moose" Jacobs, and her pet donkey, Smokey.
Crossroads of Betrayal is another great addition to the Injured Pride Series. This is a second chance romance, full of suspense, mystery and angst. Zeke goes to the retreat to recover from an injury, and the last person he expects to run into is his ex-wife Grace. Grace left years ago, and has been working at the retreat since. When a camping trip turns deadly, All fingers point to Zeke! Grace is determined to prove Zeke is innocent. This was such a great read. Loved it.
Yet another incredible book in the Injured Pride series! Grace had to face her own demons and learn to love herself before she could love others. As usual, I was surprised by the twists in this suspenseful romance. Can't wait for the next one!
Fantastic book. I couldn’t put this book down. Grace is taking some guests on a camping trip, but when one of the guests she’d rather forget gets caught up in something she won’t stand by to see him take the fall for it. She hasn’t seen her ex-husband in a long time. She doesn’t know why what he’s doing here, but she will find. Zeke Friedman hasn’t seen his ex-wife since she left him. He doesn’t know why she left him. His friend sent him to Crossroads Mountain Resort to heal, but a camping trip with her wasn’t what he had planned. What seems like a good trip turns into a nightmare. Maybe just maybe he can get some one on one with to get some answers.
Buy the book I highly recommend this others in this series. You won’t be disappointed in any of Ms. Haas’s books I sure was not when I started reading her books.
When Zeke goes to Crossroads to recoup from an injury the last person he expects to see leading his camping trip is his ex, Grace, who left him without a word. When their camping trip turns deadly and all fingers point to Zeke, they join forces to prove his innocence. As tensions mount along with their feeling for each the killer strikes again. How they work everything out makes for a great page turning read to the very last page.
Grace Taylor has been running from her past and has kept her secrets close to her. She is now working at Crossroads Mountain Retreat where she organizes hikes and other outdoor activities. Nothing shocks her more than the arrival of her ex-husband who she disappeared from years before.
Zeke Friedman is a firefighter who is recovering from a shoulder injury who was previously in the army. He is surprised that the woman who hurt him more in the past is leading the group camping trip he is signed up for he knows he just has to get through it before he can escape back home.
When on a member of their group camping trip is found dead all the evidence points to Zeke as he was the last person seen with the murdered woman.
Now Zeke and Grace must work together to prove Zeke’s innocence, but can they overcome the past?
This was a good book but I didn’t find it as gripping as the last one I read in the series.
Grace had a lot of issues and guilt surrounding the past and she was punishing herself and Zeke because of it. Grace felt like she didn’t deserve to be happy and that decisions she made in the past caused certain other events to occur. To this extent I found it got to be almost too much as she worked in a place meant to help people heal yet she wasn’t prepared to let herself heal.
Zeke never healed from the hurt that Grace put him through and due to a work injury he had to allow himself to heal, both physically and mentally. He was a good guy but wasn’t treated so well when they thought he possibly killed someone which I understood but I found Lincoln very judgmental with him.
The chemistry between Grace and Zeke was lacking due to the guards that both of them had and although you could tell they both loved each other it didn’t seem to be physically intense.
The murder mystery was good and I did like how it all came together. I was surprised at a few things that happened and it kept me interested. 3.5 stars- Rebecca
Grace has spent the past few years hiding from her demons, blocking the memories of the past and keeping her new "friends" at arms length, allowing herself to deny she has any problems and to keep stuffing any and all emotions into her box of denial. Zeke's arrival throws all that into chaos and smashes that box into smithereens with emotions exploding free. So much emotion that it feels like she is wading through an emotional minefield, she is bombarded with feelings, memories, regrets and guilt all over again. She fights the urge to flee, knowing the day of reckoning is fast approaching and now he has finally found her again there is no way Zeke will allow her to run again without answers and explanations. This is a strange visit to Crossroads because on one hand Grace knows down to her soul that Zeke hasn't murdered anyone, she trusts him completely and knows he is a protector, but she also struggles to trust him with her fears, her demons and her baggage and I fully understand Zeke's confusion and frustration at these two distinct sides to Grace. Even she cannot explain how she can trust him so completely with her life, yet still find it difficult to open up and trust him with her heart. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Grace is a strong woman, and yet, she's filled with all kinds of demons that make her a flight risk. I know, she's a complicated girl that's for sure. Her past has her guilt running rampant, and because of that, she gave up her life & now doesn't let anyone in. Zeke has never been the same since his wife left him, and now he's been sent to Crossroads Mountain Retreat to recover from an incident & an on the job injury. His life is thrown into instant chaos when he comes face to face with his ex-wife, Grace, but there's more. See, when on a camping trip, a woman is murdered, and someone seems to have him in the crossfire & setting him up for it so poor Zeke, things aren't all that great. Obviously this means there are twists coming in hot as there's a murderer on the loose, and isn't done killing people. Between the past that Grace & Zeke must face, they're also in a race against time to figure out who's doing all of this, especially since that killer now has Grace in their sights. I absolutely LOVE this series so much, as each book seems to have a second chance at love theme alongside seriously great suspense, so yeah, I couldn't get enough! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Grace Taylor left her marriage for the hills of Tennessee where she works at the Crossroads Mountain Retreat. Crossroads is a healing place, both mentally and physically, for injured law enforcement and veterans. She helps others heal, but hasn’t yet dealt with her own issues. Firefighter Zeke Friedman was injured on the job and it was recommended that he seek healing from Crossroads. He had no idea that his ex-wife, Grace, was working at the retreat. She is shocked when she sees him and rebuffs his attempts to talk, to explain why she left him. Danger arrives at the retreat when a female police officer dies during a forest hike. Was her killer someone already in the forest, someone on the hike, or someone from a drug ring that she had arrested? The killer seems intent on setting Zeke up to take the blame as further incidents occur. Grace knows that Zeke would never kill anyone, but can they expose the killer before Grace becomes the next target? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Nothing like having your ex-husband show up out of the blue and then having a guest mudered while in a wlderness trek with you as the guide, to throw a girl off. Up until now we really haven't learned much about Grace Taylor. She's a tracker, in charge of the firing range, can throw an axe with scary accuracy and keeps things close to the vest. Having Zeke arrive a Crossroads Retreat brings all of the emotions and guilt she's so carefully stuffed deep down inside come bubbling to the surface. Zeke has never gotten over Grace, the hurt she caused and the betrayal he's still feeling. Maybe he'll finally get some answers. Unfortunately, a deadly series of events puts him in the crosshairs of the sheriff. Grace is determined to prove that Zeke's not involved but suddenly she's in danger too. Discovering who's behind all the events will keep you guessing and shock you when the truth is revealed. Grace and Zeke get their and there's a big surprise in the epilogue that will surely make you smile.
Grace has been a bit of a mystery during the previous books in the series. She’s a great tracker and friend to those who work at the retreat but we haven’t gotten a chance to learn much about her past. Everyone at the retreat has a unique story and it’s interesting to dive into the characters. Zeke ends up at CMR to heal after an injury but he didn’t plan on running into his ex-wife, but they have a mutual friend who decided it was time for them to face each other. Grace wasn’t ready for Zeke to show up randomly at her job and she wasn’t ready to deal with their past. Zeke finds himself in a lot of trouble with only Grace to help him out of it but who really saves who? Another great addition to the series that I didn’t want to put down. This couple has been through a lot and as they unpack the things they haven’t shared my heart hurt for them but they finally get their HEA. If you haven’t read the rest of the series, you’re definitely missing a great one!
Another wonderful book in the series. I’ve been curious about Grace from her appearance in previous books so it was great to learn more about her and see her get her HEA. This book is a tension-filled, emotional ride for Grace and Zeke as they recover from the shock of seeing each other again after so many years to overcoming unresolved feelings of hurt, anger, and love, as well as trying to find a killer and clear Zeke’s name.
I really enjoyed Grace and Zeke’s story and all the twists and turns that kept me quickly flipping pages. There’s plenty of danger, suspense, and mystery to hold interest and you can’t help but cheer for the two as they work hard to reconnect and find a killer before it’s too late.
Goodness. This story starts with a double punch. First, Grace gets thrown by her ex-husband showing up just as she is getting ready to lead a group on a camping excursion. And then, one of campers ends up dead. I loved how those two storylines were intertwined and we slowly learn the details of not only the past relationship between Grace and Zeke but also how her history affected that relationship. There is the suspense and danger of determining who is behind not only Tessa's killing but also the other events that take place after that - events that are set up to make it look like Zeke is behind everything. Several characters from previous books also make an appearance.
I enjoyed yet another book in the injured heroes series by Danielle M haas. Can you find your way back when the one person you need, is the one person who you destroyed? The topic of misplaced guilt and trying to protect the ones you love most, really hit a nerve for me. I could feel Grace’s heartache and pain whilst sympathising with Zeke all at the same time. The storyline was interesting and kept me hooked right from the start. I personally don’t think it’s the best story in this series but is still a beautiful suspenseful romance with some dry humour moments and a HEA. 4 🖤 Rating.
I have been hooked on this series and with every book I fall in love with it even more. I was curious about Grace from the first book and finished the read in a single sitting. It was as alluring as the others in the series. Zeke intrigued me and I loved getting to know him and the past he has with Grace. My heart broke for both of them and I was rooting for there happiness. There was mystery which kept me on the edge throughout the read. Yet another emotional whirlwind which was what I expected from Danielle. I am in awe with the bond all these people share at Crossroad Mountain retreat. Thanks to Danielle and Wildfire Marketing for the advanced copy of this amazing book.
Danielle Haas has done it again!! Each book in this series gets better and better! If you haven't read the other books yet, that's okay, you don't have to read them in order to follow along and keep up with this book. But, I recommend reading them all as they are all wonderfully written, full of interesting characters and plenty of action with a little splash of romance. The author does a phenomenal job of pacing in her books. There is plenty of action and she takes the characters and us on an emotional roller-coaster. The dips are just enough for us to recover and cleanse our pallet a bit before she throws the next curve and loopdeloop our way!
Zeke and Grace. I love that this tied over with Operation Alpha! Any time Smokey is mentioned you have to smile and man, Penalope is an amazing character. Grace has fascinated me in each story because so remote but helpful. Now we get to see her backstory and boy is it a doozy with Zeke being from her history! The refuge is great with their support and friendships. I was a little surprised by the bad guy as someone else was who I thought had to be guilty as he was so abrasive, but I was wrong and it was shared in a creative and brilliant manner. I flew through the story and loved the ending.
Edge of your seat goodness with pulse-pounding suspense, danger, and angst as Zeke and Grace get their second chance after the shock of being secretly thrown back into each other's paths. These two are the epitome of meant to be, and my heart hurt for them and their pain. Zeke...sigh...I want a man like him...Grace is one lucky woman and I'm glad she finally realized that! Luckily these two found their way back to each other and the next chapter of their HEA story, as the insanity played out around them, and the mystery was unraveled that was putting them in the crosshairs.
So good!! I may have said this before but I think this is my favourite of the series. Grace ran from her husband Zeke years before, and when he turns up at the Retreat, they have a lot to work through when Zeke is the prime suspect in a murder case. Mystery, twists and drama with intense moments really made this book. I loved Zeke but also Grace was a great character who was tough and stood up for what she believed in. This was well done with multiple layers to the story, and great characters to lead the way. Highly recommended!! This was an ARC and this is my honest review.
Suspenseful, intense, heartfelt and full of hope, Zeke and Grace’s story will have readers on the edge of their seats. There is a history between these two that makes it impossible to stay away from one another as well as support each other through some difficult moments. Danger lurks throughout the book from start to finish and combines with the simmering feelings just under the surface for this couple, readers will not be able to put down this book until the end!
Another great read in the Injured Pride Series! She has a way of keeping you engaged with the characters and turning the pages. Love that there is always some adventure, thrill and love in each book. Crossroads of Betrayal proves you can have second chances!! It’s great to keep seeing characters from the other books showing up every time! It really helps develop the essence of family.
Grace through all the books has been so distance & we finally find out why. Despite her misgivings, you want to shake her & tell her to wake up! Zeke is character you can't help but feel sorry for & angry for. The fact he never could give up Grace was admirable. The danger & suspense that follows grips you. True review of my ARC .
I have thoroughly loved this series and have been wishing for Grace’s story seems like forever…and it sure did not disappoint. Filled with tons of emotions between Grace and Zeke, twists and turns, and a whodunnit that stays just to the edge. Grab this heart racing love story and enjoy. Loved it!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This book grabbed me and kept me interested from beginning to end. There was no putting it down once I started and I finished it in one sitting. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for this story, has interesting and unique characters that you will love and a story that will not disappoint. This book needs to be on your TBR list, you will not be sorry that you did.
In the latest installment in the recently renamed Injured Heroes Series the big question is can Grace face down her own demons to keep her ex-husband from being arrested for a murder(or two) that he clearly didn’t commit? While it might not be the strongest book in the series it’s still highly enjoyable!
Although we had met Grace in other books taking place at the Crossroads Mountain retreat, we actually get to see her in this book. And I fell in love with both her and Zeke! Easily read as a stand-alone and will absolutely go in my re-read loop. Couldn’t recommend more!
