Deviations #3

Discipline

Rate this book
Tobias and Noah explore their relationships more deeply than they ever have, not just with their own dominance and submission, but with their friends. As Noah helps Tobias through the loss of someone dear, he finds Tobias helping him, too, leading him through some intense sexual games, breaking down the last of Noah's fears, and helping him face his biggest one. The cage. Meanwhile, Tobias' ex-lover, Phantom, becomes close friends with Noah as they discover and try to resist the simmering sexual tension between them. Their teasing turns to real support when Phantom reaches the breaking point thanks to the lack of a master in his life, something he desperately needs. While Bradford works to become that master, Tobias and Noah go to Paris, where they see the sights, go to sex clubs, and re-negotiate their contract. Returning from Paris to their own lives brings then all sorts of new difficulties, from deciding whether they should love together to trying to figure out just where Phantom belongs in their ever-changing relationship. Deviations: Discipline is the third book in the popular Deviations series, which begins with Deviations: Submission, and Deviations: Dominance. Chris Owen and Jodi Payne have another winner on their hands, a gripping, emotional tale that you won't want to miss

I live and write in eastern Canada. I went to a bunch of schools, learned a lot of things, and now make stuff up because not to do so is unthinkable. I'm fond of fountain pens, Levenger's Circa system, and Steampunk fashions.
I'm inspired by the day to day minutia of life, and find beauty in the way words go together. I like texture and richness of experience. I'm not shy. I'm happy, I'm learning, I'm living.

2.5 stars. 2.5 STARS, Y’ALL. Et tu, Deviations??

Dammit. The shine is officially off. I can’t decide if the series has changed or if I have, but Noah felt absolutely infantilized in this one, not just submissive. Phan too, actually. And it grated on me.

There was some hinting at this before, but this book went OTT with a specific dynamic that I HATED with a fiery passion. The whole dom-escorting-sub though his psychological trauma bit. It was nauseating, and quite frankly, horrendously unrealistic. I can’t stand how Tobias and Bradford were speaking to and treating Noah and Phan as if they were children, and how Noah and Phan were acting as if they were idiots who didn’t know their own minds and needed to be oh-so-gently guided. It read stilted, sanitized, and totally un-sexy.

The last quarter of the book was a little better. At least when the contract renegotiation took place, Noah showed a little backbone and personality. And I’m not going to say the sex wasn’t hot , but it wasn’t enough for me this time.

This volume felt filler. Contract renegotiation and a vacation do not a full-length plot make, and the earlier half of the book felt like setup for the Phan stuff to come in the next book(s). This alone I could have moved past, but the dialogue and dynamic between the MCs have gone too far off the rails for me. Never say never, but I’m not planning to continue with books 4 and 5 at this point.

4 stars - my favorite book in the series so far!

In Discipline I finally got a better understanding for Noah and Tobias. For the first time, I really understood their relationship and their dynamics. It was a lot of fun to see how they manage to get closer to each other by overcoming fear and grief. Compared to the first two parts of the series, the focus wasn't only on their sexual relationship, but also on other aspects of their lifes.

In the first part of the book, we get a lot of Phan. I loved reading about him in the previous installments of the series and I was happy to see him develop too. I can't wait to know how he is going to fit into Noah's and Tobias' relationship; both of them finally admitting that Phan is important to them.

The second part is showing us Noah's and Tobias' stay in Paris - sightseeing, diner and intriguing sex clubs. I had a lot of fun reading about Noah's experience in a French sex club and I also enjoyed the way some previous problems of their relationsip have been discussed while setting up a new contract.

All in all, I have to admit that I'm looking forward to the next part of the series - more than before!

This part was excellent!

This doesn’t feel like book 3 in the series, this honestly just feels like a continuation of the story of Noah and Tobias. I have been reading one book after the other because of this feeling. I honestly don’t see them as separate books, but just chapter after chapter of their journey. This is not a complaint at all, but just the opposite. I love this series!!

In this book their relationship is definitely on solid ground, they have grown together and evolved and now are solidly in love. Tobias is taking Noah to Paris to celebrate this and renew their contract with each other.

And in this book is when I officially became a card carrying member of the “I love Phantom” club! We hear a great deal about Phan’s past and i get to really get into his head and his emotions. I definitely have more understanding of him and see the pain this man has had to endure. My big ol softie side definitely wants to see this young man heal and move past all of this somehow.

Again i will mention the sex is hot hot hot, I am still loving the “fantasy” scenes they have (does this say something about me…LOL). And i will say emotionally I am definitely attached to them all, Tobias, Noah and finally Phantom….

I feel quite happy and content with the direction and quality of this series so far.

I'm Really enjoying this series. Tobias and Noah are really good together and their relationship has strengthened considerably. More hot sex and lots of delish kink ( especially when they travel to Paris) but I didn't think that there was as quite much focus on the BDSM elements in this one, its there but just not as prominent, possibly because they are in love and their feelings have altered the dynamics between them slightly. Not that that was a problem for me , it just changed the feel of their relationship. Some angst concerning Tobias losing someone very close to him, Noah works through his fears and of course Phan is still having issues because he's floundering without the guidance of his own Dom even though Bradford is trying to help him as much as he can and Phan and Noah have become much closer, with hints of things changing for the three of them in book 4... So on to that one ASAP! I know the way the story line has progressed didn't work for some people and I can sort of understand why but I'm actually loving the direction its going in so that's why I'm finding myself pretty much hooked by the series. Loving it.

5 I-want-me-a-Tobias STARS!

So we have Tobias and Noah exploring their relationship even more deeply, not only as Dom and sub but as partners too. We get to see Noah supporting Tobias during hard times, and Tobias returning the favor by leading Noah through intense sexual games, breaking barriers and helping him face his biggest fear, yes, the cage.

"Anything else you wanted to talk about?"
Noah shook his head and shifted slightly so he was lying against Tobias rather than just sitting against him. "No, sir, that was all that was on my mind. You?"
"So long as you're happy," he said softly. "I'm fine."

Not only do we have their own issues but their friends too, Phan is still struggling and after a very big breakdown and while Bradford tries to help, Noah and Tobias take their trip to Paris, where we get to have LOTS and LOTS of naughty kinky raunchy FUN!

"You can sit? I'm doing something wrong."
"I won't be able to in an hour. Hurts so good." Noah grinned, tugging Tobias closer. "Kiss me."

And of course, we also have in this book the re-negotiation of their contract. And going back to reality and deciding what are they supposed with their relationship, their living arrangements and most importantly.. Phan.

Discipline is a sexy and very kinky book, filled with intense scenes and deep love and day-to-day problems. I loved it and I enjoy accompanying Tobias and Noah in their sensual journey.

"Mm-hmm. And I suggest you plan your pleading now, pet. It'll be an interesting evening." Still smiling, Tobias slipped his license back in his wallet. "Your ass is so mine." He pulled open the car door and used it to shield himself as he adjusted his erection. "Go back to work, officer."
"Will do. And, uh, good luck with that, Dr. Vincent." Noah grinned and touched his fingers to the brim of his hat before heading back to his squad car. Tobias snorted. He didn't need luck. He needed a paddle, lube, and a certain officer. In uniform. Over his knee.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

Tobias and Noah continue on exploring their relationship but sometimes real life takes over and things don’t always run smoothly.

The one lady that has been there for Tobias since before his parents died sadly passes away and he needs Noah’s support more than ever. Noah proves that he can be everything his master needs and more. This book focuses a lot of Noah’s strength as it is him again sat holding Phan when he breaks down due to the sudden lack of structure in his life.

The attraction between Phan and Noah is sizzling and although Noah would never do anything to hurt his master there are one or two close calls. As always Noah is thoughtful and steady and turns to his master for support. Bradford once again steps up and resumes Phan’s care ensuring the boy has structure to his days.

Noah’s Christmas gift was a trip to Paris and this proves successful in a lot of ways. There is sightseeing, shopping and great food. Tobias gets in touch with an old friend and there is also a sex club where Noah is shown off for the night and things get hot. Noah is thriving as a sub and it is there for everyone to see.

The renegotiating of their contract proves quite simple, there is only one major sticking point, and again it seems these men are both at the same place in their relationship. With a new house to look for and new boundaries to be pushed it appears they will be very busy when they return home.

One thing you do notice in this book is just how deeply they have fallen in love. I loved the hot tub scene.

Something that is necessary for both of them yet was difficult for them in different ways seems to have taken on a new ease and it this really shows just how much progress they have made and how much easier things are between them.

Oh I love these guys! Tobias is the best Dom ever - there are so many layers to his character and he is so incredibly sweet (when he is being sweet) and such an intimidating man when he wants to be. He's wonderful.

Noah is perfect - I love it when he takes control, and to watch his character develop over the course of the series, it is a wonderful journey.

The plot is wonderfully complex and the hot scenes are peppered in between the dialog so the story rolls along at a perfect pace. Can't wait to read the next one.

I waited too long to review this one as well so I'll just mention what I liked (or didn't).

Likes/Highlights: Paris, Noah topping Tobias, Noah stopping Tobias for speeding

Sad: Mrs. Miller's passing and the fallout from that

Dislikes: Even though Noah and Tobias are working towards their togetherness, Phan is manipulating his way in and Tobias' guilt/care is allowing it. See how the next two books pan out.

Seemed to start slow but really heated up just before Paris when. Sorry to see one character leave the scene so to speak but it was required for Noah and Tobias to move on and eventually live together. Loved all the Paris scenes, definitely lots of action to make it live up to it's name as the city of love.
Reading the shorts for the remaining two books I'm not sure they will appeal so much but one never knows. Lead on McDuff...

Much as I enjoy these characters, and as I think the sex between them is hot, I just need more plot in my books. This book felt like it was 80% sex, with the other 20% being the depressing death of a beloved minor character. It was nice to spend more time with Tobias and Noah, but honestly, I had to read this book in little 10-page chunks (one sex scene each).

Discipline was one of the more serious books from Deviations. Issues are being worked on, new relationships are being built, characters go through psychological struggles.
This book doesn't have as much play as the first two, choosing to focus on personal growth more, and expanding boundaries, learning new things, experiencing new things.

Series keeps getting better and better (an audio review)

I adore this series. Jodi Payne and Chris Owen started writing their Deviations series back in 2007. Their books are seminal works in BDSM erotic m/m romances. What I love about this series is the High Protocol contained within. Anyone can look up High Protocol procedures on the Internet, but incorporating it seamlessly into romance novels requires talent. In real life, there are couples who follow High Protocol. From the negotiations to the contracts, and the actual relationships, they are unique, even in the world of BDSM. When most people think of these protocols, they think of Master/slave. The truth is, there is a wide array of dynamics. M/s, of course, but also Dom or Domme/submissive, protector, mentor, or even entire Houses. There are subsets within these – triads, polyamory, open relationships, and swingers. Add property to that list and it is a cornucopia. My kink may not be your kink, but there are lots of choices out there.

Many of these other dynamics are explored through the secondary characters of the series. The main couple is Tobias the Dominant, and Noah the submissive. Noah, a police officer, is not what many people would envision as a sub. But he has a stressful job during the day and is happy and willing to give up control during his weekends to his Dominant Tobias. Although Tobias had understood being responsible for another’s health and well-being is a huge responsibility, the layer of his feelings for Noah complicates things. In his previous relationship with Phantom, Tobias faced a situation he was, in the end, ill-equipped to deal with. Phantom’s increasing demand for Tobias to inflict pain – including pain that would leave marks so deep that they might leave scars – was just too much. Tobias is a sadist, but even he has a comfort level that Phantom couldn’t push him to challenge and so the men parted company. Tobias was good at doing scenes with whips, crops, floggers, paddles, and other implements. But, increasingly, Phan was demanding more intense scenes. More pain. More emotion.

In the end, Tobias had to give up his relationship with Phan. He cared deeply for Phan, but he could no longer meet the young man’s needs. He handed Phan’s care to Brantford, the owner of a BDSM club. It was at this club that Tobias met Noah. Their relationship was fraught with ups and downs and Phan’s perceived interference didn’t help. Interestingly, Phan came around, wanting his former master to be happy. He and Noah also connected, doing a fantastically sexy scene for Tobias and some other observers at the club. By then, Tobias had discovered Noah’s penchant for and enjoyment of public displays. That scene met everyone’s needs – in that moment.

Near the end of Book 2, Brantford put Phan in the white room at the club and tried to break him. To someone outside of the scene, this looks like abuse. For someone who understands catharsis, this is often a necessary process. The submissive (or the person being helped) needs to let down all their barriers and admit their destructive behaviors and to accept the help being offered.

Brantford had suspected he might need help, and near the end of the intense, days-long scene, he called in Tobias. The Dominant was able to get Phan through the last of his emotional breakthrough. And although Noah has vague concerns about Tobias’ relationship with Phan, he understands Phan’s need for help.

Book 2 ended with a collaring ceremony.

So why am I provided all that background information? Because the relationship between the three men, as well as the dynamics between each couple, is critical. Noah and Tobias are deepening their relationship, increasing the emotional intensity of their scenes. Tobias also encourages Noah to face his fears. I held my breath as Tobias gently calmed Noah and worked him through the terror. I think my elation matched Tobias’. And I felt great pride in Noah.

Near the beginning of this book, there was a very touching evening with Phan and Noah. The two submissives have found common ground in their love of ‘Sir’ and their innate and strong desire to serve. I could see how the relationship benefitted both men, Phan most especially. Noah is able to give the younger man physical affection that Phan can’t get anywhere else. Despite their previous sexual scene, the men refrain from a repeat, instead spending their time cooking, cuddling, and watching movies.

But Noah recognizes that Phan is still hurting. Now, these books are mostly from Tobias’ point of view. The only time we see Noah and his perceptions, is when he is also with Phan. Those glimpses into a sub/sub dynamic are fascinating. In some famous BDSM books, the Dominant separates and isolates their submissive from those around them, insisting on a Non-Disclosure Agreement. In real life, a healthy BDSM relationship encourages friendship outside of the M/s or D/s relationship. It is Tobias’ encouragement for Noah to befriend Phan that makes the entire relationship work.

So when Noah tells Tobias his concerns about Phan’s mental health, Tobias passes along the information to Brantford, hoping his mentor, Phan’s temporary Dominant, can resolve the issues.

Just as Tobias is preparing to move the relationship with Noah into a new realm, an unexpected death rocks all four of the men, Tobias most of all. Noah is there, of course, to help and support Tobias. He is able to compartmentalize his own pain and put his Dom’s needs first.

Despite the loss, Tobias moves forward with his plan to take Noah to Paris so they can renegotiate their contract. I did enjoy the scene, watching the two men open themselves up, being willing to be vulnerable to get what they actually want. Their past, however, follows them to Paris, and although there are lots of hot scenes – including at a French BDSM club – the book ends on the plane as they are flying home. Home to an unseen crisis.

Scene end. Cue the next book.

The High Protocol in these books is fantastic – as true as any BDSM book I’ve read. These books being narrated by Maxx Power are fabulous. His voices for Noah, Brantford, and Tobias – as well as the British and Frenchmen – is pitch perfect. I am less thrilled by his interpretation of Phan, but I do understand the choices he’s made.

I am hopeful the next book will be out soon and I cannot wait.

Dr. Tobias Vincent and his sub Noah was pushing their relationship further and took vacation in Paris. They prolonged their contract and they are deciding to move in. That was the main plot accompanied with mushy sex scenes with hint of BDSM. Paris is just a background for depraved sexclubs and bunch of Frenchmen. That was a good part. The bad part was very long description of Phantom and his damn problems, which were deep but author did not go deeper in the description of them. There was very interesting shrink, dr Brewer. She is sub and she occasionally provided the psychological help among members of the club. Yes she is she.The woman in gay novel, what a shock. But author decided that only one woman should be in the book and dr. Vincent's housekeeper had to leave the scene and this leaving was more logical then all Phantom stuff. I hope that Phan will be despatched away in next volume. He is really annoying element in the book. His problems are not the real problems but it is seems that he is more hardcore than whole bunch of weekend masochists.

I love this series! Tobias and Noah stay with me long after I have finished reading their stories. In this book, their relationship continues to grow, their love for each other becomes more intense and they sign a new contract. There are some serious issues in the book that Noah and Tobias face together. And their trip to Paris is awesome. The BDSM club that they go to is HOT! I love the new characters that are introduced and I would love to read more about them. Noah and Tobias also mentioned a couple of 'things' that they would like to do, but they don't happen in this story, so I have my hopes up that they will happen in the next.

I had trouble realising how many pages this book has. I opened up my Kindle cover, turned it on and started reading. Before I knew it I had read the whole book and wanted more.
I am totally enjoying this series, but I have kept them at four stars as I do wish for a little more of Tobias being Noah's Dom instead of his sappy lover. Not that I don't adore the love story of these two characters, but I would like to see a little more of Tobias' dominate nature.

I liked it, not as much as the second one but still engaging. The authors do a great job at keeping the reader engrossed and emotionally tied to the lead characers which is refreshing. I am already tired of Phan and his needs but I see that he is a big part of the next two books so I'll have to get over that I suppose.

Not bad, but not my favorite so far. More bonding and in depth development of Tobias and Noah as a couple, lovers outside of their scene.

I liked their time in Paris, and toward the end, certain events assisted in giving Noah more validation, but poor Phan...really curious how things will find some kind of resolution.

On to the next one, as this one fell a bit short for me.

This review applies to the entire series. My introduction to this book began innocently enough. Rebecca AWK recently reviewed a BSDM book that she found disappointing. In response, I left a comment on her review to check out a few BSDM books that I've read and liked in the past (For Real, Duck!, and Rough Canvas. I should have also added Axel's Pup). She wrote back and suggested I check out this book and if possible, read the entire series in a row. So I did!

I should preface this review by stating that I'm not usually a *huge* fan of BSDM. I don't hate BSDM books--but they aren't the sort of m/m books I tend to seek out. Don't get me wrong--I like the idea of being dominated and/or being tied up and spanked more so than most! But there is often a theatrical aspect of BSDM scenes that I find a little ridiculous at times. Why does everyone have to wear so much leather? Why is it such a big deal for players to refer to each other as "sir" or "master" or "boy"? Why must so much bindings, rope, and toys be a precursor to sex and intimacy? Why much subs/doms adhere to such rigid rules? I don't know--it just strikes me a little too over-the-top for my tastes most days.

As such, the BSDM books I tend to like are often more emotional. They tend to be stories that feature who MCs who connect romantically, but also happen to be into BSDM. In other words, the BSDM is present, but it doesn't necessarily take center stage in the story. Instead, the story is focused more on how two individuals work past their life situations and/or personal issues to connect and find a way to build a life together.

That wasn't the case here, though. These books are 100% focused on BDSM. The lifestyle plays a front and center role in the story. I almost feel like this series is a "how to" guide to BSDM written by authors who practice it (is it? I haven't checked). In the process of telling a story about Tobias and Noah, the authors are seemingly teaching readers what the BSDM lifestyle is really like when you peek underneath all the leather and rope and theatrical trappings. More so than any other BSDM book I've read, I feel like this series has helped me *truly understand* what the appeal of this lifestyle is, what the difference is between punishment and discipline, and what it really means to live life as a dom or a sub.

And as a result, I found myself not only liking this series, but having a newfound appreciation for the BSDM lifestyle in general. I actually learned something from reading these novels which I appreciated. In addition, many of the sex scenes were super hot (:::fans herself:::) and it was really interesting to see how Tobias helped Noah (and later, his former sub) past their issues. All in all, I had a lot of fun reading this series!

If you decide to give this series a try, here a couple warnings/suggestions:

1. These books shouldn't be read separately. They really work best when you read them all in a row. The first book for example doesn't have a traditional ending--it ends at the start of Tobias and Noah's relationship with each other. I didn't know that going in (or I might have stated these books during a less-busy week). You need to know that if you pick up the first book, you're likely going to need to invest in the entire series at once in order to capture the full story being told by these authors.

2. These books aren't perfect. While I liked them as a whole, there were places (especially in books 3 and 5) that lagged and a few plot points that I found to be a little too over-the-top. I also felt like Tobias and Noah got a little nauseating with the "I love you's!" towards the end of book 3, but that could be just me.

3. You will learn something about the BDSM lifestyle by reading these books and you likely will be surprised. Count on it.

4. This series, as a whole, is angsty (in a good way) and is full of kinky sex and comfort/healing. It also morphs from an m/m story to an m/m/m story by book 4 -- so be forewarned!

All in all, I'm glad I read this series. The story was compelling and I walked away from this series having learned a few things as well. That's a win win in my book. :)

So the relationship of Tobias and Noah grows and evolves, becomes ever more loving and strong. I found this book to be more about the romance and companionship of being a couple than about a relationship that is balanced between romance relationship and the requirements of a BDSM lifestyle. The power exchange aspect of their relationship is somewhat dimmed and deluded in this third novel. There are BDSM club scenes, yes, and fantasy play. But, there is little to none of that throat catching, lung gripping power exchange that I had loved so much in the first two, that defined the "them". Where is Noah on his knees in the kitchen while Tobias ate? Where is that quiet, calm voice of Domination? It was all words and reminders but little action! There's only so long you can say, "I am your Master" before you have to actually show it, Tobias, come on. Tobias never lets Noah forget who is his Master, but it isn't entirely due to power or Domination, at least, not here. That I know their relationship is about this, is based on D/s, saved the BDSM scenes from being a sexual act alone. Still, it was a beautiful book that reminded the reader that even a Master and his slave can have a loving relationship, that two can connect emotionally, that BDSM is as much an emotional and physical need for some people as sex. This book worked through a lot of their issues like caging with Noah and Tobas' pride. Phantom, also, had a lot to deal with... in fact, we're left with a bit of a Phantom-cliffhanger at the end. Master Bradford has yet to disclose what is wrong, so that's no doubt a plot saved for the next book. Did I love the book despite its excessive and repetitive gay sex scenes (which I like, don't get me wrong, but I'm really reading these for the BDSM elements) in exchange for BDSM scenes? Yes. And I am going to consume the fourth and love it, too.

Now that I'm in sync with story the storyline is falling in place and you are able to see the trust and love grow between Tobias and Noah and at the same time you see how Tobias and Bradford helps Phantom to face and confront the horrors and abuse he went through as a child to the day his parents kicked him on the street and were Tobias and Bradford takes him in Tobias as his Dom and Bradford as a friend and later as Dom also.
It is a very good story of the ups and downs in Tobias and Noah the battles to learn trust, limits and faith for each other. Noah learns the true meaning of being a sub and in doing so he learns things that go beyond his limits to prove himself and make Tobias even happier. Also Noah meets with Phantom and they become friends and Noah learns that Phantom is no threat and be a very good and deserving friend and Phantom can clue him into factor that Noah did not know about Tobias. The covers from Christmas to New Years and durning that time you watch Tobias and Noah in public and closed sessions, you get to enjoy a New Years party were Tobias let's Phantom and Noah play and both are rewarded in doing this all three become closer and ready for the next step in helping Phantom. And finally you get to go a party and attend the collaring of Noah and his claiming as Tobias sub and lover. The collaring is the most important item in bonding a sub to his master and let's everyone know that Noah is off limits unless Tobias says so.
Recommend the series I am sure you will enjoy if you are into HEAVY BDSM

The only reason I keep on reading this series is because I really like Noah. I like the plot too, but I like the idea more than how it is written (this seems to be a theme with me and this series).

That being said, I liked that Noah showed some teeth (wouldn't have minded more, though) and I hope he keeps that up. Not necessarily in a D/s context. So far I like both the romantic aspect and the D/s dynamic equally and I wonder how they are going to evolve.

I am surprised I don't dislike Phantom. That could change, but so far he's actually been okay. And speaking of Phantom, his relationship with Tobias doesn't sell to me. I read the details of what they had, but considering how Tobias is with Noah, I don't buy it. There's nothing about Tobias that proves to me that their relationship was indeed as they describe it. At this point I'm not even sure he will meet Noah's needs as their relationship develops.

As someone already mentioned, the books don't feel like individual books of a series, they read exactly like a new chapter. Although I don't really mind that since I have all the books and I can read them one after the other, that's not ideal. If I would have stuck to my initial plan and read something else in between each book I don't think I could have gotten back into the mood easily.

Overall the third book was okay, nothing really stood out. Maybe just that I would like Noah drinking some more water.

Audio Review

I loved the progression of the relationship as the guys push the boundaries of what they are doing both in the BDSM side and the emotional side

Tobias feels like he finally has a handle on what he needs from Noah at the end and is happy within himself. My only sticking point is the same as always - Phantom!
Phantom is the ex who will just not go away and with all his issues (I do feel for him with these, but think he needs to sort them out with someone else) he is always between them. Tobias found out Phan was struggling and nearly upended his trip away with Noah to return and deal with Phantom's problems.
I feel for Noah as he is kind of in between a rock and a hard place. If he kicks up too much about it he risks his relationship or the guilt he would feel if Phantom actually did something to himself, and he does have a friendship with Phantom and is attracted to him but not enough to bring him into the relationship permanently and I feel like he is getting railroaded to what everyone else wants.

It was good to see Noah stand up for himself in Paris and to see them finally have a disagreement. They talked it out and even though Tobias still doesn't understand it was resolved between them.

I liked this as I have liked the others. Things are moving along with Phan, he is so sweet and so messed up, poor guy. I'm glad that Noah seems to have real feelings about it, he likes Phan, but he gets insecure and worries as well, but he cares. I think I knocked off a star (maybe star and a half) because of that Paris "sex club" scene, and god it went on forever and it just didn't seem to fit, and it wasn't nearly as hot as the other scenes between Tobias and Noah (and sometimes Phan). I was saddened as well Will continue the series, but this was my least favorite so far.

I'm feeling conflicted about this. I really liked the beginning and the end, but got so annoyed in the middle that I put it away and turned my attention to other books for a while.
I love the characters, I really do, and adore all the emotional parts. And some of the sex is smoking hot or heartbreakingly intimate.
But also a lot of the sex scenes are repetitive, annoying and don't contribute a thing to the story. Yes, it's great that they have an active and fulfilling sex life. Doesn't mean I need a detailed play by play for every single blowjob.
All in all I wish the story arc would be a lot more dense and focused on going somewhere, maybe even have some sort of build up, you know, instead of just meandering aimlessly along.
I really wanna know a lot more about Phantom - why is there no move towards an obvious threesome? - and maybe Bradford and his club.

M/M BDSM erotica.
I can’t stand Phan and all the giggling with Noah. It turned me off Noah. Again the whole Phan thing is OTT and I have zero desire to see him with Tobias or Noah. So I am not going to read any more of this series.

There was a new dynamic between Tobias and Noah when Noah finally got over the fear of
The Paris vacation had some ok scenes and it was good to see that Noah had some backbone during negotiations.

I am just tired of sanctimonious dialogues between Doms and giggling submissive(s).

Again an HFN that can easily count as an HEA. And I am stopping here before any more Phan.

I really enjoyed this book. At the end of the second book I wondered how things could evolve more in their relationship to warrant another book because the end was pretty darn good but the authors managed to do it. I especially enjoyed the second half of the book in Paris. It was a fun read and also a different look into the bdsm scene.
