Chloe finds herself in the fight of her life as she realizes that Danny is deadly serious about his promise that they will be together – at any cost.

And with Tom and Chloe growing closer, her fear for her new man only escalates as she struggles to answer one terrifying question – how far will Danny go to get what he wants?

"You're not alone" is a great psychological thriller with an amazing twist. I didn't expect this turn of events. I was very afraid for the fate of the main character - Chloe. She has been hurt by life. Her husband did something to her. At first I didn't know what happened. Currently, our heroine has begun to recover. By chance she met a man who ... I won't tell you that. You must find out for yourself. It will be dramatic. The author has created a very realistic work. The world today is full of psychopaths hunting their victims. Can you free yourself from them? Will Chloe come out of this whole thing? It was my first encounter with the work of Gemma M. Lawrence. I am enchanted by her. "You're not alone" is worth reading. A surprising plot, fast-paced action and an amazing heroine make it impossible to stop reading. My time spent on this book was not time wasted.

Chloe whilst out with her friends in a club, trying to forget about her collapsed marriage meets Danny at the bar. He is confident but slightly creepy with his excessive flattery, that he lays on a little too thick.

When Danny keeps turning up like a bad smell and will not take no for an answer, Chloe soon realises she has a problem as Danny is convinced that they are a couple and will do anything to ensue this!!

I loved this book, it's creepy, full of suspense and 100% addictive.

I have mixed feelings about this book...in as far as I read it. I really wanted to like it but I simply couldn't get into the story and the characters - Chloe and Danny - both grated on my nerves. The story was incredibly dark in places and I could see its potential. It pulls out all the stops on psychopaths, gaslighting and stalking. Plus many other sinister aspects hidden within.

I wasn't entirely drawn in from the beginning as the opening scenes was a club and (showing my age here) clubs are not my thing. Drinking to abandon, also not my thing. Going out the drink your troubles away and put oneself back out there on the market? Also not my thing. I can't imagine meeting a lasting relationship in a club where everyone is drinking and dancing till they throw up and then wake to remember nothing, or hardly anything, of the night before. Why do people do this to themselves? Also not a drinker myself I can't see the value, the draw or the point.

But that aside, that is not why I couldn't get into this book. I didn't warm to Chloe from the beginning. And Danny gave me the heebee jeebies with major sinister vibes radiating from him in waves like a beacon in the night. I could feel the intensity of his stare and it made me uncomfortable just reading about him. I just didn't want to be in his presence and don't get me started on Chloe. She made some stupid choices and came across a little naive at times that I couldn't believe her stupidity. She was so blindingly frustrating at times. I just couldn't connect to her so therefore I couldn't really sympathise with her either. Therefore making my care factor zero. I found her a little one dimensional but that might just be me.

Having given up on it, I have since read some favourable reviews which highlight its highs as well as lows but also revealing that the second half was way better than the first. So I didn't stick around long enough to find out. Maybe if I had I'd have discovered the same. But honestly? Something about Danny just made me want to get out of his presence quick smart.

Despite my negative feelings about the book, the issue tackled is one of importance and while it was done with sensitivity, the end result was a bit of a miss for me. Not because of the writing...that was actually quite good. But the characters. And the story I really found repetitive and even a little boring.

I wish I could have finished it...but I just couldn't. That's not to say that this isn't a good twisty thriller. It just wasn't for me. I hate leaving negative reviews as I know that every book is a labour of someone's love and hard work. But reading is subjective and what might enthrall one may not excite another.

Arc provided by NetGalley.

After the collapse of her marriage, our protagonist, Chloe, has been coerced into having a fun night out with her friends. Classic tale, girl goes out, finds a handsome, charming man staring at her, she's reluctant but also intrigued. Who wouldn't be?

This book had me gripped from the very beginning, the premise, the setting and the fact almost every woman has probably gone through something (minor or major) like this was initially what intrigued me. About 35% of the way in I was absolutely enamoured but then I realized that I was starting to lose focus. And it was because of one specific trope which I'm absolutely tired of. And that is the dumb girl energy

I'm so sorry but we are in fact in 2023, like, do we really still need to have the main character being just so naive and idiotic? Every woman that has gone through even a quarter of what our protagonist went through would know to act 10 times smarter/safer than Chloe. In some of the scenes, I just found myself baffled at how naive she was. And to top that off she also had I don't need anyone, I'm a bad*ss Like, no ma'am you are not. You need to get your friends and the authorities involved.

Another minor thing that was frustrating to me was our main character's friend named "Laura"

Our "villain" (we should call him that I suppose?) was genuinely terrifying, the guy was the god of gaslighting. He just made my blood boil, that's how you write a villain!

If you like movies like "Halloween", "The boy next door" or "Fear", you might enjoy this!
Overall, I had my differences but honestly, I would recommend this to anyone looking to read a quick thriller, this book reads very fast and you can easily finish in one sitting.

I really enjoyed reading "You're Not Alone" - it was a real page-turner, with an enticing storyline that kept me hooked throughout the novel.

Chloe, recently divorced and back on the dating scene, finds herself meeting the rather charismatic and yet enigmatic Danny on a night out. After a somewhat awkward encounter on the night out, where Danny is a bit too clingy for Chloe's liking, Chloe attempts to distance herself from him and continue her life as normal. However, Danny is not giving up nor going anywhere, and continues to involve himself in all aspects of Chloe's life, following her, making unsolicited posts online about her, and ultimately threatening that they will be together at any cost.

I did not manage to guess the final twist to the story, although I was sure that one was coming! I found the writing really easy to read, and felt compelled to read through the book in a small number of sittings.
Some of the writing was a bit too cliché for my liking, and I think that some of the events of the plot were to exaggerated for real-life (I found myself smacking my head against a metaphorical brick wall numerous times at Chloe's actions); however, it all came together in the end.

Overall, a great read for anyone who's looking for a suburban, contemporary thriller that wants that "Joe Goldberg-esque" vibe!

Chloe is mourning the break up of her marriage, and her friend, Laura is trying to get her to start living her life again by taking her to a club.
At the club, she meets Danny, who cannot keep his eyes off her.
She made the mistake of speaking to him and now he won't leave her alone. He stalks her despite the fact that she has told him she wants nothing to do with him, and he stalks and intimidates those close to her.

Actually a terrifying plot. It made me feel quite claustrophobic, as at every turn, Chloe is being watched. It is very tense to begin with.

Chloe irritated me quite a lot. She has a policeman in her home and does not report immediately that someone broke in?
She keeps letting Danny into her house and speaking to him despite being warned not to?

I am not convinced that this could happen in real life the way it did in the book, that a woman can be so stupid as to disregard advice and not seek help.

She doesn't report the female following her?

I was disappointed in the last few chapters, the conclusion was not satisfying to me. Others may disagree. The first 90% of the book was great, the final 10% was unbelievable.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this very suspenseful book

This was a decent quick read. I personally was really put off by how idiotic the main character was. In this day and age, every woman is so hyper aware of the risks and dangers and we go all out to protect ourselves and our friends so I can't see anyone being stupid enough to take the course of action that the main character did. Women are more independant and less tolerant of toxic behaviour now more than ever so it seems like shes written as an idiot just in order to further the plot which is insulting and a bit lazy. The stalker was really creepy and he was written well and realistic but it would have made for a better, more believable book had the author given the main character a bit more common sense. After all, anyone can stalk an idiot who does nothing about it..... its way more eerie to know that anyone can be stalked, regardless of how aware you are or how many of the "right things" you do these days which is the reality. It's a pretty quick book though so it's not wasting much time. The writing is decent, the twists are there, the tension is built really well..... its just the characters actions that dragged it so far down for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for an E-Arc of this book.

I have mixed feelings about this book, did I love it not really, was I able to stop reading it absolutely not. I did enjoy the later half of the book more than the beginning half as more plot twists came into the picture. However, I would say this is a good book to pick up if you’re looking for a quick paced thriller with some surprising plot twists towards the end.

I will say for just liking the book, I was so engaged and at times wished I could cancel some of my real life/adulting things to keep reading.

What I didn’t care for in this book was the strange and quick romance that seemed to blossom out of nowhere for me with the main character and a friend/co-worker. I also really didn’t care for every character in the book. The main character (Chloe) was very frustrating at times, she did things even though she knew she shouldn’t in situations, which was frustrating but then I thought about if I were in her shoes how would I act. The friends of the Chloe were also in my opinion not very good friends, as they didn’t really seem to listen to her concerns when she brought them up.

You're not alone is a book following Chloe whose marriage has fallen apart. Chloe goes on a night out with her friends and meets Danny. Danny is charming, sweet, and seems to say all the right things but is he really as sweet as he appears to be?

You're not alone was such a great book! Chloe was such a likable character and I loved her friends and colleagues. I sometimes felt incredibly frustrated with her naivety and wanted to shout at her through my kindle.

This book was so well written and a fast-paced read. It left me feeling on edge about what would happen next, about halfway through I was sure there wouldn't be a shocking twist like you get in most thrillers but boy was I wrong! It's not often a twist catches me off guard so I was delighted when I was! The twist was well thought out and left me feeling satisfied.

Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a fast-paced thriller.

This was a very quick to read book that offered exciting scenarios and interesting characters. The book didn’t lag at all and I was kept interested the whole way through. I like good twisty endings and this one was satisfying..

I will say this is different than any other thriller I’d read before. I feel like so often with domestic thrillers, the same themes are repeated over and over, so I really enjoyed that this one was different.

I didn’t love the main character Chloe. It was frustrating to read page after page of the questionable decisions she was making, but you sort of find out at the end why she was doing what she did.

Overall, this was a quick read that I would recommend!

This is a fantastic read, which reminded me of Nicci French's "Killing me softly" with the theme and atmosphere. Action packed, tons of suspense and surprises that I did not see coming. Chloé and Danny make for a wild ride of a story. This one is a real page turner.

A good read that kept me hooked and some great twists. I will definatly read more from this auther. I tryed to read the book quickly because i needed to know what would happen to Chole at the end. I started this book blindly without reading the summary. When I found out it was about stalking, I almost gave up. Stalking really creeps me out, and the writer can really go overboard with the terror. Thankfully this book had just the right amount of suspense. While I was really frustrated with the protagonist at times, her actions become clear later in the book. I also wasn’t expecting the twist. All in all, it’s a pretty good book!

Close best friends biggest goal is to get her out and having fun again. She’s recently single after being cheated on by her husband and now she’s at a club with her best friend who seems to be having the time of her life. While Claire is dancing and living it up close keeps seeing a man staring at her and although it’s unsettling she tries to blow it off, but when she makes her way to the bar he decides to make his move. He introduces his self as Danny and he is handsome but there is something about him that gives Cloe an uneasy feeling she is polite but ultimately just wants to get away from him and go home. Before she can get away though she will meet his drunk friend who is the birthday boy. When she finally makes her way out the door she realizes in her haste she left her clutch on the bar she went back in to look for it but it was gone as she knew it would be. When she wakes up the next morning she is surprised to see she has a friend request from Danny… She don’t remember giving him her last name but later on at her job she is even more surprised to see Danny is there and he has her clutch. She is thankful but doesn’t like his persistent way of wanting to take her out she once again blows him off but this will not be the end of Danny and as a matter of fact it is just the beginning. It seems everywhere Claude turns there he is she was grateful when he interceded between three cat calling teen boys but her good friend Tom at work made her think that may have not been coincidental at all. When he shows up on a girls night out and insist since they’re going to be together he should meet her friends she quickly remind him they are not a couple. Being a persistent jerk he introduces himself to her friends and even though she’s told them her concerns about him they act like it is all in good fun. Things just get worse from here he post a pic on Facebook that looks like they were in bed together and her coworkers hadfriend requested him, so everyone saw it. When she doesn’t answer her phone he consistently calls her and will not let up as if things are bad enough a woman approaches her after work and tells her to stay away from Danny and she isn’t nice about it at all. Who is this woman and who is Danny and why won’t he leave her alone? This book was very intense and although there were a couple of eye rolling moments I still very much enjoyed the book I loved the momentum that never let up throughout the book and I absolutely loved the ending! I don’t believe I had ever read a book by G M Lawrence before but definitely want to read more in the future. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Thanks to Inkubator and Netgalley for the eARC of this novel.

There isn’t much as chilling as the idea of a stalker pervading every aspect of one’s existence, to the point where they are almost attempting to consume another being’s life. Equally as scary is that it could happen to any one of us, as these severely damaged beings are impossible to identify until one has already spent too much time with them; too much time might be a friendship, casual awareness of the person, or even someone we have never met before who catches our eye across a crowded room.

Stalkers can slowly leech every bit of enjoyment you have in life, or time spent with friends, the cost can be insurmountable.

However, I have always found stalker cases and stories fascinating, and “You’re Not Alone” is a captivating read, well written and… creepy really. It literally made my skin crawl by the last fourth of this book as the author does a marvelous job of drawing you in so that you identify with the terror and frustration of the main character, as her life slowly disintegrates after bumping into a predator while out for drinks and dancing with friends on an average evening, in an average club, in an average town.

Small issue I had with this novel (even though I read the book in one sitting as it is well written and you just have to find out how this story is resolved) is the VAST importance given to the "need" to be half of a couple I found this disturbing, although such a view is a reflection of the endemic focus on coupledom here in the US. The idea that a person cannot have a happy well-rounded life as a single person is dangerous to propagate, and I have seen numerous friends remain in abusive (emotionally and physically) relationships because they are terrified of being alone.

Choosing to be (and stay) single can be a wonderful and satisfying state of being, and not promoting this as a valid and satisfying option, is a societal PROBLEM.

Additionally, I find many novels (particularly mystery novel these days) are half romance novel, and I am NOT a fan of romance novels.

However, I liked the supportive structure of truly good friends and family that provided the main character with hope and support.
Also, stayed tuned, as this novel has a wowser of an ending, I was mesmorized!

This book scared me! So glad I have no desire to go out at nighttime 😂 I would be wary of everyone after this book.
Chloe meets Danny on a night out and despite her caution, somehow he gets closer and closer to her setting off alarm bells - to be honest, he seemed creepy to me from the start. But that only intensifies and he just won't leave her alone.
It seems a common theme of conversation at the moment and it is a frightening one I hope to avoid. A very realistic storyline unfortunately that was told well with believable characters.

This book was okay, it definitely started out good and was more than enough to engage me, but a lot of its pull was weakened by the halfway point.

Having never experienced being stalked myself, and thank god for that, reading about Chloe’s struggle through one of the most disturbing experiences in her life was very unsettling. Getting into her mind, watching her reactions to situations, I thought the author handled them pretty well. It was as real as could be, in my opinion. It was a stark reminder of how the system can fail so many people who go through something so difficult and horrifying, and in many cases, with devastating consequences. So, for the psychology of all who’re involved in this story, I found this book to be strong.

But like I said, after about the halfway point the book started to be repetitive for me, and slow paced. Everything I thought was intriguing in the beginning kept going nowhere, and I felt like Chloe, the main character, was going in circles in everything she did. While the author succeeded in making me suspicious of almost everyone in the book-messed up with my psychology as well as Chloe-, I felt my connection with the story and Chloe’s character coming close to snapping by the end. And speaking of the end, things just played out too much like an average tv thriller for my taste. Things just moved too fast and made less sense by the end, I’m sorry to say. And that’s where the book lost one star for me.

I do appreciate the author tackling such an important theme with care though, it’s not always a success when someone attempts this. The end result was just only okay for me.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for sending this my way. Needless to say all opinions are my own.

I got an ebook version of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I was pulled into this book fairly quickly; I felt it was easy to read and kept me engaged. It was a fairly quick & easy read.

We meet the main character, Chloe, while she is out dancing with her friend. She meets Danny at the bar, who shows her interest straight from the second they meet. From there, we quickly spiral into a world of craziness and obsession.

And when I say quickly spiral, I really do mean quickly spiral. Danny's obsession with Chloe seems immediate. There is very little build-up, meaning we are dropped pretty much straight into the plot without getting much chance to settle in and get comfortable.

The book stood out as being pretty different to other books that run along similar themes. This was a welcome factor.

But I must say that Chloe irritated me more than is reasonable. And despite the fact that I now know how the story ends, I still don’t feel able to forgive this! I just got so angry with her even when we were told (explicitly or implicitly) there was a reason for her being frustrating.

Overall, this is a good book for anyone looking for a quick psychological thriller that is a bit different.

You’re not alone, was a bit of a slow starter, but by a quarter of the way in I was unable to put this book down.

I instantly became a fan of the main character, Chloe. An average girl, just trying to move through her life. Until she meets the wrong guy and can not dissuade him.

Now, although the guy, Danny, was a horrific character. I also thought he was kind of amazing, like i definitely wouldn’t want to meet this guy out but oh boy, did this author create such an incredibly intense, and creepy character. Kind remained me a little of the guy for the ‘you’ series.

The story had incredible growth, starting off small and normal, then into the intense, unable to put this book down period where a few little hints are then given to show that the character may have a little secret that she kind of doesn’t want to share… and then 💥 BAM!!!! In comes to the twist and you are so shocked at the stupidity of the said character that you need to see how it all ends.

Fab, thriller which I would highly recommend

It's such a fast-paced and exciting read. I was drawn in very quickly. When Chloe first met Danny, I was thinking what a great catch he was. As I progressed further, obviously, things changed. What once came off as a good guy in the right place changed to how creepy he was at every turn. How was he always where Chloe ended up unless he was stalking her? Danny's obsession became clear quite fast. He came on very strong and seemed unrelenting in his quest to lay claims to Chloe. Chloe's reactions and lack of were concerning. Why was she not taking this more seriously? Why were her friends not more helpful or concerned? Chloe's naivety was annoying and frustrating at times. Overall, my heart was pounding reading this, wondering what was going to happen next.

Being stalked is every woman's nightmare. How about taking it up a notch or two, so not only are you being stalked, but you're also stalking the stalker unbeknownst to him?

This was so good, and just when you didn't think it could get any better Lawrence dropped that twist in at the end.

It had everything you'd expect from a good psychological thriller; well written, cleverly plotted, well developed, credible characters, the pervading atmosphere of creepiness and the suspense throughout as we waited with baited breath to see what depraved depths Danny would stoop to next.

I read the book in one sitting, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It was gripping, compelling and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

Many thanks to Zooloo's Book Tours for my tour spot.

He only has eyes for her.

Still bruised from the breakdown of her marriage Chloe surrounds herself with her friends. On a night out she meets Danny, will be be the one to help her move on? Charming and attentive soon leads to obsessive and intense. How does he know so much about her? He tries his hardest to work his way into every aspect of her life which Chloe finds disturbing. How can she stop him?

I really enjoyed this book, very tense and great pace. A few nice twists along the way which made it feel fresh throughout. Thank you to @netgalley for the opportunity to read and I wish the author success on its release.

This book was so good. I highly recommend giving it a read if you are a fan of thriller novels.

When I tell you that I AUDIBLY gasped during many scenes in this book.

The MF Chloe has so much going. She is infuriating at times throughout the book with the decisions she make, but in the end it all makes sense. I absolutely love her with Tom. 100% Ship Tom & Chloe.

The MM Danny is certifiably crazy. He's possessive and controlling and manipulative and his character really gets under your skin - but in the best way for this novel.

Definitely give it a read when it releases on February 12, 2023.

I enjoyed this book! It was different than anything I’ve read and the premise was great! There were a couple of things that could have been a bit better, like more scenes with Danny as his obsession grew not just happening out of nowhere.

I also did not expect any of the twists! I thought I had what really happened a few times, but I really didn’t.

There were times where Chloe made me crazy. I thought she was so naive and scared and there was more she could have done, but now knowing the reason, it makes sense.

Definitely recommend this book to anyone!

Well well well! I really did not see that plot twist...

Such a good read! the freaking suspense had me at the edge most of the book!

Chloe is trying to get her life together after the disaster her marriage left! She stars by going out with the girls where she meets Danny. She doesn't get a good vibe from him so she tries to ignore him but he's not one to be ignored and he is now everywhere. There is nowhere to hide, and he won't stop until Chloe is his!

PS: Be prepared to yell a million times "COME ON, CALL THE POLICE!!!"
