Primetime Emmy Awards: Every host since 2000

Hosts for the annual Emmy Awards ceremonies throughout the 21st Century have almost always been comedians. For the most part, they bring just the right tone of roasting the nominees and celebrating the previous TV season. With a four-way rotation of ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, the host selection also typically comes from that network’s stable of talent. Let’s take a tour of recent Primetime Emmy Awards hosts in our photo gallery below. Originally published August 2018.

While it’s usually a solo person who emcees the broadcast, there have been multiple times since the year 2000 in which duos or groups took the reigns. Father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy are next up in 2024, “SNL” Weekend Update anchors Michael Che and Colin Jost both hosted in 2018, and all of the inaugural Best Reality Host nominees (Tom Bergeron, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Jeff Probst, Ryan Seacrest) were tasked with the duties in 2008. Note that there were no hosts for Fox’s ceremonies in 2019 and 2003.
