There are lots of exciting upcoming Star Wars games currently in the pipeline! With new releases fast approaching, we'll have plenty of opportunities to venture to a galaxy far, far away. From a narrative adventure in the Star Wars universe by Quantic Dream to a new Star Wars Jedi adventure - a follow-up to one of the best Star Wars games ever made - coming from Respawn and EA, the new games are spread across several genres that span the Star Wars timeline

Recently, we finally got the release of one of the most exciting new games in 2024, the open-world title Star Wars Outlaws. And Outlaws is just the beginning as there have been a string of announcements for more sci-fi goodness coming our way in the future.  However, we've had some bad news with a report back in February confirming one of the upcoming Star Wars games - an untitled Star Wars FPS set to come from Respawn - has sadly been canceled following an unprecedented number of layoffs this year.

Still despite a few canceled titles, there are a well of new Star Wars games to keep on your radar. To get a full recap of all of the upcoming Star Wars games, read on below.

Respawn kept the surprises coming with the announcement of a Star Wars strategy game. Revealed alongside the first-person shooter, which has since been canceled,  the untitled Star Wars strategy game is currently being developed through a "production collaboration" with freshly established studio Bit Reactor. Respawn will be producing the project, while Bit Reactor will lead its development. The new studio is being led by veteran developer Greg Foertsch, who previously worked at Firaxis on Sid Meisner's Civilization series – among others. Very little has been revealed about the project so far, so the release date is still likely to be a ways off.

Star Wars: Eclipse

Release date: TBC
Platform(s): TBC

First announced during the Game Awards 2021, Star Wars Eclipse is a new action-adventure from Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games. Described as a branching narrative game, Eclipse takes place in the High Republic Era in an "uncharted region of the Outer Rim". With new faces and environments, you'll be experiencing its story through the eyes of an ensemble cast of playable characters who are all said to have their own personalities and will each make their own impact on each other and the adventure overall.

When the new game was first announced, it was said to be in the early stages of development, and it may still be some time before Eclipse arrives. And while it has not yet been confirmed, it seems likely to land on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S when it does.

While we wait for Eclipse to drop, you can take a crack at playing all the titles on our list of the best adventure games.

Knights of the Old Republic remake

Release date: TBC
Platform(s): PS5, PC

The Knights of the Old Republic remake is set to deliver a new version of the much-loved RPG from 2003 to PS5 and PC. First revealed during the PlayStation 2021 Showcase, we got our first look at a revamped Darth Raven, a customizable protagonist in the original game. The remake is coming from Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games, the former of which has previously worked on several remasters of previous Star Wars games, including Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.

With only a brief teaser revealed so far, we don't yet have a release date, and a recent report from Bloomberg claimed the project has been delayed indefinitely. The original game from BioWare allowed you to shape your own journey in the galaxy as one of nine different customizable characters, with plenty of choice and freedom.

While we wait for an update on the new Star Wars game's development, here is our take on the best BioWare games you can play right now.

Amy Hennig's Star Wars game

Release date: TBC
Platform(s): TBC

An untitled Star Wars game is also currently in the works from Skydance New Media. In collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, veteran writer and director Amy Hennig will be at the helm of the studio, who's well known for previously working on big hits such as Uncharted and Jak and Daxter. The new Star Wars game is described as a narrative-driven action-adventure, and while not much else has been revealed about the project, a report suggests it could be a revival of a prior Star Wars project that was ultimately shuttered.

While still unconfirmed, a leak pointed towards it bringing back Project Ratag, a game set during the Rebel Alliance era that was once in development at EA studio Visceral. The project is still likely quite a ways off, but we certainly can't wait to learn more.

Star Wars Jedi 3

Release date: TBC
Platform(s): TBC

Although Respawn’s FPS Star Wars game has been canceled, it has been confirmed that we can still look forward to the follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor with a brand-new Jedi game. EA and Respawn are currently working on the upcoming game, which will continue Cal Kestis' story – with actor Cameron Monaghan returning to voice our main hero.

In terms of a potential release date for Star Wars Jedi 3, there isn’t much to go on, unfortunately. We know that it's still deep in the development stage, and to be honest, we can’t imagine it coming out before 2026. We also need to keep in mind that Stig Asmussen (who was the director of the first two Jedi games) has departed from Respawn, so the team will need time to make adjustments to their new structure in his absence. We’ll keep you posted as more news heads our way.

While we wait for more Jedi 3 news, you can get a refresher on the past games in the series with our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review.

Senior staff writer

I started out writing for the games section of a student-run website as an undergrad, and continued to write about games in my free time during retail and temp jobs for a number of years. Eventually, I earned an MA in magazine journalism at Cardiff University, and soon after got my first official role in the industry as a content editor for Stuff magazine. After writing about all things tech and games-related, I then did a brief stint as a freelancer before I landed my role as a staff writer here at GamesRadar+. Now I get to write features, previews, and reviews, and when I'm not doing that, you can usually find me lost in any one of the Dragon Age or Mass Effect games, tucking into another delightful indie, or drinking far too much tea for my own good.
